Transferring ICal date from older version  IMac to newer

My Imac G5 desk top died a few months back and I have replaced with model below. I just transferred old hard drive to new computer and am trying to open old ICal. I keep getting the message that this version can't be opened on this version of IMac. I have to access this calendar as a few documents that were on my old desk top didn't transfer open for some reason and I can recreate using the old calendar.. Any ideas as to how I can open the older version? I tried to create a new group in the new version and import the information that way but that didn't work either. Thanks.. (can I download on a thumb drive and print out perhaps?)

You need to locate the calendars folder that was on the drive of the old computer.
It would be located in: Name of your old Hard drive > Users > Name of your user > Library > Calendars or Name of your old Hard drive > Users > Name of your user > Library > Application Support > iCal
Once you locate this folder you put it in your current computer in the same location as above. When you open up the current version of iCal which was on your computer when you purchased it (iCal 4.x) it will see those calendars and read them for you.

  • Transferring iCal data from SL to Calendar on Mountain Lion

    Hi,
I'm having issues transferring my iCal data from my Snow Leopard account to my Calendar (Mountain Lion) on my laptop. Seems you can't just save it out as an archive and import it into Calendar any more. Same issue goes with the Address Book -> Contacts.
Can someone help? I looked at another thread but it seems no one has figured this out yet.

I am having the same problem.  I was able to have my google calendars that were easily set up through the delegation option.  Now, all the events have disappeared. When I go through the steps and add the other google calendars through delegation, they show up grey on the calendar side bar. Nothing happens when I refresh.  The calendars were here one day and gone the next. Very strange.
I would very much like the delegation option to work. I see that there are work arounds involving adding each calendar, but that seems like a lot of work.

  • Transferring date from G5 PPc iMac to New Intel iMac?

Can anyone advise or point me in the right direction? I have tried searching Forums, but cannot find what I want.
I have set up my new iMac 10.6.2, loaded and updated all my programs, and now want to transfer my data from my old iMac.
There is a lot of legacy stuff on there, that came with the original Jaguar OS that I can't erase. i.e. Marble Blast, Nanosaur, McKiev World Book, and don't want to transfer.
The stuff that I want to transfer, is mainly my photos, music and videos (retain sync with Apple TV, and keep Playlists,) emails, and docs. I did try Migration Assistant yesterday, but after ten hours of transfer, at the last minute, it said it could not complete.
I was thinking of copying files to an external HD, then moving them across to the new iMac, but am not sure which files to copy.

  • Transfering iCal data from one OS to another

The new MacBook I am planning to purchase will come with OS X 10.6. How do I get my iCal entries from my older MacBook with Mac OS X 10.4.11 into the newer version. My wife's IMac running OS X 10.5.8 will not read them.

Sorry for the confusion. I had a iMac G5 with iCal 2.0.5 running on Tiger 10.4.11. I bought a Mac mini with iCal 4.0.3 running on Snow Leopard 10.6.4.
I migrated all my data from the G5 over to the Mac mini. When I opened iCal, all of my calendars were there, but the events in each calendar did not show up.
I did try some workarounds, bottom line, none of them worked. I think it's an issue with the G5 using the PPC processor and the mini using the Intel processor.
The point I was making was that there was a lot of info. in iCal still on my iMac that I needed on my mini and the only way to get it there was to retype it all back in or copy/paste to a file, etc. I was unable to shelve the iMac because of that.
I'm sorry but I'm not clear on what you mean by "Can I set my old machine back to the non-beta version and keep the beta version on my new machine?"

  • Transfer from older (2006) imac to newer (2011) macbook pro

I have 2006 imac running Snow Leopard (10.6.8). I just bought a 2011 Mac Book Pro running Mavericks.
Can I use the normal transfer procedure (firewire) to transfer from the older to the newer. The newer already has applications installed.

  • Initial setup probs - importing data from older imac or time machine backup

i just bought a new imac and in the initial install, trying to import the data from older imac. i've tried both firewire and ethernet direct to the older imac (it says it has identified it) and to an external hard drive containing my time machine backups, but the new imac sticks on the "transfer your information" screen calculating both the data and time remaining.
it has been nearly an hour. am i not giving it long enough? any other advice?

  • HT4889 When I transferred my data from a 128GB Macbook Air to 256GB Macbook Air (brand new version as of 9/1/13) I end up with 188GB used!   I add up the size of Users, System, Library and Applications and it comes to 90GB.  What am I missing?

When I transferred my data from a 128GB Macbook Air to 256GB Macbook Air (brand new version as of 9/1/13) I end up with 188GB used!   I add up the size of Users, System, Library and Applications and it comes to 90GB.  What am I missing?  How did I "use" up so much space in migrating from one Mac to another?

Did you use the Setup Assistant available at the beginning of the new machine's setup process? Or did you use Migration Assistant later after you had set up the new machine?
If you used Migration Assistant, you generally wind up with two accounts (the new one you set up on the new machine plus the old one you ported over) - that may explain your excessive use of space. In that case, you can either manually combine/remove all unnecessary duplicate files, or you can start over by using Command + R, wiping your drive, and downloading the OS. Once it's downloaded, use the Setup Assistant offered at the beginning of the install/setup process.

  • Just purchased a new iMac and transferred all info from my old iMac. Now when using iPhoto slideshow is displays the pictures in reverse order.

Just purchased a new iMac and after transferring all info from my old iMac.  Now when using iPhoto slideshow it  displays the pictures in reverse order.

There's a bug in iPhoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks that affects slideshows played directly from an album.  The slideshow will not play correctly if the photos have been sorted manually.  Any other type of sort, date, rating, keyword or title, will play correctly.
If you need that manual sort of pictures for your slideshow create the slideshow in iPhoto's slideshow mode.

  • How do I transfer my data from my old iMac(05) to the new iMac(12)?

I bought a new iMac and went through the setup process, however I did not have the ability to transfer my data from my old iMac to the new one because I didn't have a cable.  I have new iPhones, iPods and Apps that need transfering.  Can someone provide me a step-by-step solution to move data to ensure I dont loose data from my mobile devices?  Thanks a lot and happy holidays.  Wayne

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Uploading Data from 1 version to another

    Hi abapers,
I want to upload master data from 1 version to another (say from 4.6 to 6.0).
We the abapers have to create a tool from which this can be done.
One idea is to extract the data from one version and download it in a file and again upload the data to the  new version through BDC or BAPI or inserting in the table.
Can u suggest some other ideas besides this.
    Regards
    Salish.

    Hii!
I have two tables z_student and z_student1. Both have same structure. z_student has data in it and z_student1 is empty.
Now I'm transferring the data of z_student to z_student1.
    Check out this sample code.
    REPORT z_sdn.
    DATA:
      fs_student TYPE z_student.
    DATA:
      t_student TYPE
          TABLE OF
                z_student.
    START-OF-SELECTION.
    SELECT *
       FROM z_student
       INTO TABLE t_student.
    LOOP AT t_student INTO fs_student.
      INSERT INTO z_student1 VALUES fs_student.
    ENDLOOP.
    IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
      WRITE:
        'DATA INSERTED'.
    ENDIF.

  • HT3224 I am new to Mac and started transferring data from my PC to my new Macbook Pro.  Connection was lost once I started and now my Pro is stuck on the 'Transferring Information' screen.  How do I get out of this screen to attempt the connection again?

II am new to Mac and was trying to transfer data from my PC to my new Macbook Pro.  The connection was lost however and now my Pro is stuck on the 'Transferring you nformation' screen.  How do I get out of this screen so I can attempt the connection again?  Is it safe to force shut down of my Mac and will it still prompt me through all the setup process again?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If your Mac and PC are connected by Ethernet, unplug and plug that cable again. If not, you have to turn off the MacBook by holding the Power button.
In the next startup, try to transfer your files again. It's important not to interrupt the transfer process, because in most cases, you will stop it and you won't be able to resume it

  • How do I transfer data from one time capsule to new time capsule when TC backs up an iMac and Power Book

How do I transfer data from one time capsule to new time capsule when TC backs up an iMac and MacBookPro

It is generally better to leave the old backups and start again.. unless there is something you particularly need.
But if you desperately want all the old backups you have to copy the sparse bundles.. this will take very long time as it must copy via the computer..

Take particular note of the initial comments.. ie before you read how to do it.. don't do it.

  • Retrieving data from a dead iMac

How do I retrieve the data from my white iMac G5 that has a fried logic board? Can I do this myself? And if so how?

Since the logic board is fried, you can perform a post-mortem yourself.
Go to ifixit.com, and find the instructions to remove the HD.  NO warranty, and unit dead ... who cares if you crack the shell.
Then buy an external enclosure from macsales.com such as this one (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/FWU3ES2HDK/) or others you find by going to macsales.com and typing "enclosures" in the search box.  Ths will access the old drive as "external".
