Transform LiveCycle form xml output using xsl

I've completed my first form but now want to format the xml that's generated.
Whilst I work for a big Company, I don't think they'll stretch to purchasing the Reader Extensions Module so I can output as PDF. Also there will be more than 500 users completing the form, so I can't just extend the rights using Adobe Acrobat.
Therefore, I'd like to transform the xml created using xsl (as I have knowledge in this area) - I'd like the transformation to occur when the form is submitted via email so that a 'friendly' attachment is added to the email and not the xml output.
Any ideas on this one?

First thing is, the fonts did not work in my system.. So I can not really understand where the email address fields are..
Few things:
1) You have used an Email submit button and tried to place the code in the MouseDown event.
    You need to change this button to "Regular Type Button". and place the code in the Click event to work.
2) I placed a sample button and put in my code for your reference.. This is working fine..You can check the below sample.

3) You can do the same way for your form..
4) If you have Acrobat software, you can enable JavaScript debugger which can give you the specific error message rather than Submit cancelled. If you do not, then you need to put some messageBox statements and check..

    So I am getting XML in form of:

    And now I need to generate and output in Cross tab format where Employee is in X-axis and Week is in Y axis. Now my XML does'nt contain information for all the weeks and I want to display 0 in the cell wherever the week is not applicable and the appropriate noofdays in the cell where information is there.
    So my output looks like this:
    Empl Name 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
    Emp A 0 0 5 5 5 0 0 0 0 0
    Emp B 0 0 0 0 5 0 5 0 4 0
    Emp C 0 0 2 5 0 0 4 0 0 0
    How can I generate such output using XSL. I even tried <xsl:key> but its not working fine. Can anyone have any ideas for generating such output using xsl.
    Any help in this will be highly appreciated. Its bit urgent...

  • Generate XML output using DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype and not from rdf

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to display output from a particular table in XL format. Out of all the known possible options, I am planning to use the XML publisher to generate XL output.
    For the data source, instead of using the conventional way of creating XML data using rdf,I am planning to use DBMS_XMLGEN.getxmltype pl/sql procedure to generate the XML output. And from the output, call the template to generate the required Excel output.
    Now, I am using the following code to generate XML output but am not sure how to proceed from here. I need to first print the XML data in the FND Output file after which I was planning to call the 'XML Report Publisher' (XDOREPPB) program and use the current request id to get the excel output but I am not able to find the way to print the XML data in the output file as:
    fnd_file.put_line (fnd_file.output, l_xml_type); - is throwing an error as l_xml_type is an XML data output.

    Also, you do not need to explicitly call XDOREPPB in later versions of XML Publisher. If you set up everything correctly (as described in the presentation above and the link below) the Output Post Processor is called automatically after the XML file is generated successfully.

    That option is not available in FTP mode..
    This option is applicable only for the File adapter. If you enter a value in this field when configuring the sender FTP adapter, it will have no effect.

    Now, at this time, I can't see the XML data in the CC monitoring because the tool shows only the recent polling execute in the last 10 minutes. If the error recurs, I will check the payload of CC.
    How can I solve the problem with reading incomplete file (FTP mode)?

    How do I preserve these entities through the transformation

    Assuming you can't use a CDATA in the DTD to prevent parsing,
    then my suggestion would be to use the XSL stylesheet to restore
    the entities as there is no way that I am aware of that will set
    conditional expansion.

  • Variable indent based on xml data using xsl-fo start-indent

    I am trying to make a report of a peoplesoft tree which includes xml data to indicate the level of the tree.
    I have a template which sort-of works but has some strange behavior. First I set a variable to the value of the treelevel, and multiply by ten to set the value for the indent that I want. I then apply that value for the indent to the start-indent attribute

    These tags are put in a table row which repeats within a for-each group along with the data to get indented.
    The problem is that the indenting seems to work but not consistently and some rows which clearly have different indent levels are printing as if they are at the same level.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • Problems in create graphical report from Oracle FSG xml output using BIP

    We are trying to create graphical reports from Oracle Financial Statement Generator (FSG) xml output. I personally have extensive exposure working with XML (BI) Publisher but until recently I have never tried to use the BIP charting wizard to create graphical reports from FSG xml output out of EBS 11i/R12.
    I created an SR with Oracle but they had to create an enhancement request for this issue. Does anyone know or have any idea on how we can accomplish this. The charting wizard pops up but the xml tags available do not make any sense.

    I want to save a book to a single XML document. Is it correct that I can do this by adding an xslt to merge the standard framemaker entity type output ? Can I easily reconfigure the standard Save As XML to acheive this? or do I need to add a new menu item and call the XSLT dialogue...

       A related discussion appeared in the FrameSGML Yahoo group recently. Much of what follows is what I wrote there.
       Your XML application (defined in structapps.fm or another application definition file) can specify an XSLT post-process. No need to change Save as XML or define a new menu item. Depending on what you want, the XSLT transform can be as simple as the following:

    This is an identity transform that simply copies the interpreted input to the output. In particular, it does not distinguish between content in referenced general entities (which is what you want) or between attribute values that happen to be the same as the attribute default value and attributes that are not explicitly specified and hence use the default value.
    There are a few things to watch out for involving use of general entities.
    First, if you are using entity attributes for graphics, you'll need to modify the above slightly. It's probably easier to replace the entity attributes with file attributes, but if you want to keep the entities, the above needs to be extended to declare the entities.
    Second, if you are using and want to preserve entity references for special characters or variables, you'll need to account for them as well. See $FMHOME\Structure\xml\PreserveEntity\readme.pdf.

    I think your question is wrong.
    XML parser is supposed to check for well-formness of a document, meaning make sure all the tags are open/closed properly. Optionally a parser can perform validations on a document based on its DTD. If there is no DTD available there is no validations required.

    I have italics tag in my xml file. But my browser does not identifies italics. So i decided to comment out italics tag in my xml using xsl
    So what i need is
    String = text1 <!--I-->text2<!--I-->
    basically to comment out italics tag alone.
    How can i replace <I> to <!--I-->?
    Is there any way in xsl to do the above in a string?
    or
    Any other ways where i can just remove <I> in my out xml file using xsl?

    The ultimate solution would be that you also install also a cocoon server (http://cocoon.apache.org/), but that might be overkill.
    Have a look at /people/sap.user72/blog/2004/11/10/bsphowto-generate-pdf-output-from-a-bsp for detailed info on creating PDF from BSP.
    If you want to use XSL(-FO), you might have a look at things like http://alt-soft.com/products_xml2pdf.jsp to be called as external command.
