Translate FacesMessage

How can I translate FacesMessage severity message?

Hi,
FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
fctx.addMessage(null,
new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_WARN, "Test",
null));
This the way I display my message. I want to translate this: 'FacesMessage.SEVERITY_WARN'
or some other type of FacesMessage.Severity

  • Problems with FacesMessage and French locale

    Some messages that I have translated in French are not substituting the {0} with the message. I am definitely passing in a value (in this case "521-009") but it is not being substituted. The locale message is
    Le sujet a été soigneusement sélectionné et s'est vu allouer un numéro de sujet de {0}. Un email vous a été transmis confirmant ces informations
    Anyone else had this problem or have any ideas why it's happening ?
    Cheers,
    Brent

    Hi Frank,
    The message is being displayed within an af:messages component, manually added in by calling "JsfUtils.getInstance().addMessage" however, in trying to debug where the problem was I used the following code
    MessageFactory messageFactory = JsfUtils.getInstance().getMessageFactory();
    FacesMessage message = messageFactory.getMessage("VISIT1_MSG", null);
    String summary = message.getSummary();
    MessageFormat formatter = new MessageFormat(summary, JsfUtils.getInstance().getLocale());
    Object messageArgs[] = {subjectId};
    System.out.println(formatter.format(messageArgs));
    And the result of formatter.format(messageArgs) is the same - the {0} is not being substituted (note my browser locale is set to "fr")

  • FacesMessage not showing on standalone WebLogic

    Hi!
    I have a problem showing  popup with messages. Everything works fine on an   server, but when I deploy my application to a standalone , application stopped to show popup windows with messages at some point (like validation messages). Before that it was working OK, but at one point it just stopped working. What can cause such ? Is there some  configurations I have to adjust to get this to work?
    FacesMessage fm = new FacesMessage(messageString);
    fm.setSeverity(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_INFO);
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    context.addMessage(null, fm);
    That was working OK, a while ago, but at one point it just stopped. I don't think libraries are missing, since that was working in the past . I specifically checked for jsf(2.0,1.0.0.0_2-0-2) and jsf(1.2,1.2.9.0) and my managed server is using them, so that should not be the case.
    Please, does anyone know what could go wrong?
    I use JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0, but I think that is not important in my issue.

    No, the server software was not updated. I also haven't updated anything locally in my JDeveloper.
    Only thing that I did, was setting my custom list resource bundle on some view objects like this:
    <ResourceBundle>
            <JavaResourceBundle
                MsgBundleClass="translations.resources.CustomResources"/>
        </ResourceBundle>
    So I get the view label translations. Do you think that could have messed up any server configuration?
    Also validation methods are invoked and my custom CustomDCErrorHandlerImpl (extending DCErrorHandlerImpl) gets the right translated validation message (in method getDisplayMessage). The problem is the popup window with stacked validation messages does not show on screen. Like FacesMessage is messed up or something.
    As I said, that used to work in the past, so server libraries are "probably" not the case and I haven't been changing any properties on standalone Weblogic.

  • Currency Translation on Key Date for AR Aging

    Need your valuable advice!
    I have created an AR Aging query including both Open and Cleared Items based on 0FIAR_C03_Q0005 standard query. However the requirement is to do currency translation to Group Currency (USD) on Key Date. This Key date is defaulted to today but the user can change this to go back in time and pull all the ARs as of that back dated key date.
    I was planning to create a currency translation type on M rate based on the Key Date Variable in RSCUR. However I am confused on which variable to base this currency translation. I have several key date variables in my query such as 0P_KEYD2 (based on Posting Date), 0P_KEYDT (based on Net Due Date) and 0P_KEYD3 (based on Clearing Date).
    Which Key Date Variable should I use in 'Time Reference from Variable' field in RSCUR? Would it be one of the 3 mentioned above or something else and why?
    Appreciate your valuable advice.
    Thanks,
    Al

    Hi,
    Yes I do want to use the Key date from the variable screen and I am using the standard 0FIAR_C03_Q005 with slight modification including currency translation.
    As I mentioned in my original post I have several key date variables in this query such as 0P_KEYD2 (based on Posting Date), 0P_KEYDT (based on Net Due Date) and 0P_KEYD3 (based on Clearing Date). My question is which one should I use if I want to base it on the specific key date variable from the variable screen? I need the specific Key Date variable technical name.
    Thanks,

  • Translations into a transport request

    Hi all,
    The question has been asked before here at this forum, but I haven't found a satisfacory answer yet.
    I have to change the translations of some smartform texts using se63. After having made the changes, I am not forced to add the changes into a change request.
    How do I move these changes into a change reuest? We are on 4.6C and the report RS_LXE_RECORD_TORDER or transaction SLXT are unknown. I did not change the smartform, only the translations.
    Thanks,
    Bertus

    Hi Bertus,
    Use sa38 and execute the function RS_LXE_RECORD_TORDER.
    Choose the Target Language (you will need one for each language)
    Choose Workbench Request (it will create automaticaly)
    in Filter Tab

  • FacesMessage are not getting displayed

    The h:form contains input fields, some of them has attached FacesMessage which are invoked using ajax. The h:form contains a submit button which is having an actionListener and an action filed-
    <p:commandButton value="Submit" update=":message" actionListener="#{project.run()}" action="#{project.showResults()}"/>The component which is being updated by this button is a PrimeFaces v3.5 component-
    <p:growl id="message"/>I noticed that all the FacesMessage are getting rendered except which are invoked by +actionListener="#{project.run()}"+ .
    Since I am doing some I/O operations (time consuming operations) inside +run()+ method, which is present in my +managedBean+ named +project+. While performing these operations, I just want to notify to user about it's success/failure and once these operations are completed, I want to redirect to a result page.
    How can I achieve this functionality ?
    Thanks
    Ravi

    So basically you have a long running task. It is best to treat it as a background job. The front-end should not be waiting for it to finish as the longer it takes the more risk you run of some kind of timeout; be it request timeout, transaction timeout or user-patience-timeout. In stead you should look into creating a more ajax-enabled solution where your background job is running and the front-end can poll for its status, including any messages that the background job produces.
    You're apparently using Primefaces, explore its ajax capabilities. I'd be surprised if there isn't something in there that you can use for this.

  • Error message severity not translated correct when locale is changed

    We have a shell page displaying different task flows within a dynamic region. The shell page f:view tag has locale="#{LocaleManager.currentLocale}" to allow programmatic change of locale. Most of the flows uses the locale from the browser request (e.g. Danish) but some pages has fixed locale (en_US) and will always be rendered with this locale (don't ask me why. It's a requirement). For those fixed locale pages, the expression #{LocaleManager.currentLocale} always returns "en_US". It works nice, but we have a strange problem with the translation of error messages displayed by validators/converters. E.g. if a character is entered in a number field, the user will see the usual popup error message like "*Error:* The value is not a number". The message part of the error message is translated but the severity message prefix ("Error:" in the example), seems to be translated and cached once per session. If the error message popup has been displayed once in a different locale, then after change of locale, the severity message prefix continues to use the translation from the first display. The message part of the message is translated perfectly.
    Let me give an example:
    1) User enters da_DK page and enters a invalid number. Error message displayed: "*Fejl:* Værdien er ikke et tal"
    2) User enters en_US page and enters a invalid number. Error message displayed: "*Fejl:* The value is not a number"
    If the examples is reversed, then the error messages will be:
    2) "*Error:* The value is not a number"
    1) "*Error:* Værdien er ikke et tal"
    Do anyone know how to clear this translated severity message prefix, when locale is changed? Or is there a better way to overcome this issue?
    We're using JDeveloper and ADF 11.1.2.2 and are able to reproduce the issue on the embedded weblogic.

    Hi again
    ok I added another locale that ships with flash builder, and encoutered the same problem
    whenever I change the locale, the error tooltips are gone
    I was even able to fix both new locales by assigning the the validators custom error messages using resourceManager.getString() like i assign a value to all other UI strings in the application
    the default locale which is specified in the project compiler's parameters is en_US
    and my final question to you is:
    is there a best practice regarding localizing & managing the error massages Flex SDK uses?
    what is the internal path to the resource bundles that flex uses to display errors?
    it seems like it makes more sense to copy and edit an existing list of errors, rather then blow up the application code...
    can you please share your view on the matter
    thank you for your help

  • "Translator" process is hogging CPU, causing crashes - what is it?

    So in the past few weeks, my machine has seemed slower and slower each day. In the past week, my mouse will jump across my 2 screens erratically. I thought it was either the mouse or USB port so tried different configurations until it occurred to me that, on random days, after a random startup; all is well.
    I popped open the Activity Monitor and now can confirm my problem. My machine works great when the process "Translator" behaves itself. Every time I get the erratic mouse, slow window response and (every time) an eventual freezing of my screen requiring forced restart - Translator is hogging all my CPU. If I sample it, my machine crashes to a freeze. It I get more info on it, I can see that Translator has to do with syncservices (why do so many problems on 10.5 have to do with syncservices?). I have tried Googling for more info on it, but there doesn't seem to be anything out there. If I force quit it (standard quit doesn't work), my system will hang.
    Does anyone know what this is and how to fix my problem?
    I know the standard next steps (create a new user account and migrate files sans ~/Library, re-install OS, etc.) but am afraid that the problem will resurface if ties to syncservices (I do use Mobileme to sync, have an iPhone and an iPod). I guess I'm looking for more info before proceeding with drastic and time intensive measures that may very well yield the same problem despite the effort.
    Any help would be very much appreciated. It is worth noting that it took 5 full minutes for me to correct my spelling in this post due to the erratic mouse. Good times. I am off to restart - again.

    So by removing the Exchange sync for my Address Book prefs, I was able to completely clear-up the problem. That link to opendns was VERY VERY interesting. I looked at my routing tables and indeed, they hijack google DNS entries and cause all sorts of havoc as a consequence. As junky as my ISP's DNS service is (RoadRunner/Time Warner in SoCal), I believe I will switch back to them as I find I don't get the original problem, with Exchange enabled, when using their DNS instead of opendns.
    What a mess and my thanks for the quick eye (I am going to mark your post as the solution for me)! I can't say that I am certain whether this is solely an opendns issue or if it is an issue with Exchange sync on the Mac, separate from opendns; however I am in a position where I don't really require either so both disabling Exchange and removing opendns are acceptable to me. Hopefully both Apple (exchange support - possibly fixed in Snow Leopard?) and OpenDNS (the idiot idea to re-route google dns) address their issues and can use issues such as mine to replicate the problem.
    How would a home user with either little desire or knowledge ever diagnose an issue such as this? For every person like me, there has to be 10 who would believe their mouse needs replacing, then take it to the shop after that doesn't work, then get a new machine, etc. An entire sub-economy seeded by a simple software-based issue.

  • Application Translation Not Working - Primary Key Error

    I had created an application translation to Spanish but it wasn't displaying my Spanish translation. I was going to try and redo it so I tried creating a new mapping and then seeding the translatable text. I got a primary key error "ORA-20001: Seed insert error: WWV_FLOW_TOPLEVEL_TABS.TAB_TEXT ORA-00001: unique constraint (FLOWS_030100.WWV_FLOW_TRANSLATABLE_TEXT_PK) violated".
    I went in and deleted what I had done through APEX for this app and tried to create a new application but still get the primary key error when I try to seed it. I gave it a new translated application ID but that doesn't seem to help. Anyone have this problem or no of the reason I'm having this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi David,
    Thanks for reporting this. This was an interesting problem to solve.
    As it turns out, it was a logic error in Application Express (i.e., bug). When deleting a translation mapping, the associated strings in the translation repository would be deleted for that application, but if and only if you had actually published the application.
    I think this is why you could never get Spanish working properly - you had never actually published the application the first time. So I'll bet what you did is deleted the original mapping, then you recreated the mapping for the same language but with a different translated application ID. Since you had never published the application from the original translation mapping, and there were orphaned rows in the translation repository, you encountered a "collision" when you tried to seed the second time with the different translated application ID.
    Your action of deleting rows from WWV_FLOW_TRANSLATABLE_TEXT$ cleaned up these orphaned rows. As you stated, this isn't recommended to perform DML on the underlying APEX tables. A couple alternatives could have been:
    1) Before deleting the translated application mapping, actually publish the application and then delete the mapping.
    2) If you had deleted the mapping already, you could recreate the mapping for the same language and with the original translated application ID. Then, publish the application and then go back and delete the mapping.
    I realize all this sounds crazy. But it was only an issue because you had not actually published the application. Not your fault, though, as this is a bug in APEX.
    This bug will be fixed in Application Express 4.0. This way, you won't have to worry about if you published or didn't publish. The orphaned rows will be cleaned up when you delete a mapping.
    Thanks again for reporting this.

  • Wrong Dutch translation in iTunes 8.0 (Windows XP/Vista)

    Hello there!
    I just noticed a small translation error in iTunes 8.0, it's about the free space available on an ipod/iphone.
    In English the grey bar at the bottom of the screen reads "Free", which is alright, but if you have your language set to Dutch, it reads "Gratis", which is a whole different translation of the word "free".
    "Gratis" is "Free" as in: "Buy this book and get a free pencil with it."
    The right translation of "Free" as in "free space" would be "Over", "Resterend", "Resterende ruimte", "Vrij" or "Vrije ruimte".
    I don't know if anyone else noticed this error in his own language, but it's a pretty clumsy thing to leave in iTunes. (I did find it quite amusing by the way.)
    Steven

    You're being very polite there, JvetS. I can't remember ever seeing such a translation blunder from a major technology company. And it's new in iTunes 8.0; in earlier versions Apple didn't confuse "free beer" with "free space"...
    Also it's quite funny, as you said. I first thought it referred to all the free AppStore applications on my phone.
