Tree component display problem when text too long???

hi all
whenever i use a tree component to display some sort of text, i run into problems when the width of the text being display for a node is larger than the width of the tree component.
Given: Tree tree1 with Node node1 and Child Node child1
When the text of either node1 or child1 is longer than the width of tree1, the text is displayed on its own single line UNDERNEATH the node images. this makes the text look like it does not belong to the group of children of a given node.
is there anyway to add maybe a text area or some sort of scrolling region to allow for any length of text for any node??
thanks everyone!

Yes, you can change the size of the tree node text field. Please see the "Tree Node Component Properties Window" section in the Help Contents within the IDE. Look at the info under the "Appearance" section.

  • Exclamation mark says text too long...but it's not

My captions are 2 lines long, and they fit in the caption box. But I get an exclamation mark anyway -- the text warning that means (I think) "text too long."
When I print the book on my color printer, all the text appears just fine.
So here's question 1: If I try to send a book with text warnings, will Apple reject the file until I have made the warnings go away?
And question 2: If the captions print just fine on my printer, are they likely to print just fine at Apple?
    Many thanks!

When you order the book, a PDF will be created. That PDF is what gets uploaded to Apple (via Kodak) for printing. So the best way to check your book before ordering is to create a PDF, then inspect it. Chances are, what you see in your PDF is what you will get printed.
To do this, select your book and do File > Print. You'll get an "Assembling book" progress bar. That can take several minutes. When done, you get the Print Dialog box. Click the PDF button and choose "Save as PDF..." Choose a name and location for the file (the Desktop is convenient) and Save. Then switch to the Finder and open that PDF in Preview.
While I have not observed (or even tried to observe) for myself, I have read here from others that the PDF created this way may differ slightly from the one created by selecting Preview in the first Print dialog, and that it will more closely predict the final ordered book.

I have that warning on one of my text boxes, too. It looks fine in iPhoto, fine in the PDF, and printed fine when I ordered the book from Apple.

  • Workbook Precalculation: "Message text too long:

    Good day
I have setup the precalculation server/services and all is well except for the size of some workbooks.  I receive the following message:
u201CThe message could not be delivered to recipient  because the message
text was too long. The node used supports messages up to a a length of
20,000,000 bytes. The message text is, however, 43,152,918 bytes long.u201D
I have deleted the results from the workbook before precalculation and the file is zipped for email.
Where in BW will basis have to increase the size when a workbook is precalculated and mailed?

  • New SCSI hard drive problem: Device busy too long

I set up second SCSI hard drive for my sun box Sparc Station 20. The set up is as follows:
New SCSI hard drive (ID #2) connects to Sun box and connects to tape drive (SCSI #4) with terminator.
Hard drive is Seagate model ST15150N with J01 (open : means disable drive terminator) and J04 (jumper on second position, ID=2).
I CAN format the hard drive and assign label etc.. but when I type the command : > newfs /dev/rdsk/c1t2d0s7 (I use whole slice 7 as one partition and c1 is my second controller).
    The following error displays continuously:
WARNING: /iomnn@f,e0000000/sbus@f,e0001000/dma@1,81000/esp@1,80000/sd@2,0 device busy too long
Is this error come from the wrong hardware set up or from other reason ? Any suggestion is welcome . Thanks in advance.

First of all, thanks for your reply. I appreciate it.
A couple of things. I check my system profiler and I couldn't find out what kind of SCSI card I have. I even opened up my machine and there wasn't any writing on it. So how do I find out what type of card I have? My other question is if the same card worked for the SCSI drive I had before, why won't it work on the new drive. I've set it as the master at the end of the SCSI cord and like I said I used CCC. The drive shows up on my desktop but won't boot. Should I try loading OS from disks instead of using CCC?

  • Display problems when antialiasing is enabled

I've written a Java app which uses a JPanel-derived class to render images and text in the paint() method.
This works fine unless I've enabled antialiasing in my video card settings (GeForce FX 5200 w/128MB RAM, Windows XP), in which case nothing but a gray window appears. Disabling antialiasing in the video card settings fixes the problem. Multiple users with different video cards have reported the same problem (so its not something specific to my card and/or drivers).
Is there something in my code I can do to ensure my app will properly render regardless of whether or not antialiasing is turned on on the user's machine?
Note that I also tested with a simple frame containing a progress bar and saw the same issue, i.e. the Swing components themselves didn't properly render with antialiasing turned on.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Thanks, that seems to be doing a bit better. I am still having a bit of trouble though, mainly, the TV seems to be flickering very slightly throughout. Strangely, I did not have this problem when using a composite connection. Is there a setting somewhere to make for a clearer picture? For example, when I run the external display calibration application, and it asks me to adjust the background so it is the same color as the apple logo in the picture, the apple logo is constantly flickering (changing color from white to gray to black or so very rapidly).
Also, I am mainly using the TV connection to watch front row. How can I get front row to operate on the external display if I do not have them set to mirror each other?
    Thanks a lot,
    Will

  • Display problem when reading Traditional Chinese in Crystal Report 2008

    Hi All,
I have tried to connect MS SQL 6.5 to build up a report. However, I encounter a problem when read Traditional Chinese. all chinese characters turn into adnormal characters. I wonder it is problem of SQL Server or some setting that I may not know. In addition, I can able to read chinese in the application program , ISQL / Query Analyzer. Please help to give idea and suggestion to fix this. Thanks
SQL Server: MS SQL Server  6.5
Client OS: Window XP ( Traditional Chinese Version)
Server OS: Window NT and Window Server 2000
    Stsyou

    Hi
If you are using a Chinese language build database, Crystal Reports English build might not display the characters properly as non english databases include one byte characters as ASCII code character and double-byte characters as their own language code character.
Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese (Kanji, Hiranga, and Katakana), Korean and Vietnamese use double-byte characters.
However, a possible workaround to this issue is to verify that the encoding on the database client is configured according to the examples below. Also, you will need to install the language pack in the English environment.
    CONFIGURATION EXAMPLES:
    Shift-JIS for a Japanese database
Big5 for a Traditional Chinese database
GB2312 for a Simplified Chinese database
    iso-2022-kr for a Korean database
Windows 1258 for a Vietnamese database
    EXAMPLE SCENARIO:
An Oracle database saves non-English language data such as Japanese.
The Windows operating system is English.
STEP TO CONFIGURE THE CHARACTER CODE IN THE ENVIRONMENT SETTING
(This step is based on the details of the EXAMPLE SCENARIO.)
    1. Configure the system environment on the database client side to 'Shift-JIS' as the character code set in the Environment Setting.
This results in the NLS_LANG variable set to Japanese_Japan.JA16SJIS under the registry HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Homeo.
STEPS TO INSTALL LANGUAGE PACK IN AN ENGLISH ENVIRONMENT
(These steps are based on the details of the EXAMPLE SCENARIO.)
    1. Add languages to the computer system by clicking:
Control Panel > Regional Options > General
    2. Select the check box for 'Traditional Chinese', 'Simplified Chinese', 'Japanese', 'Korean' or 'Vietnamese'.
    3. Click 'Apply'.
    4. When you are prompted, insert the Windows CD-ROM to install the language pack.
    5. Restart the computer.
Upon completing these steps, you are able to display the languages characters in the Crystal Reports Designer in a Windows English environment.
    ==========
    NOTE:
If the database table and field names use non-English language characters, Data Explorer in CR will not correctly display these names. However, when you preview the report, the non-English data displays correctly.
    ==========
Configuring the database client according to the examples and installing the language pack will display the characters successfully. However, there are cases when this workaround does not resolve the issue.
For further information about CR and double-byte languages, refer to knowledge base articles, c2008083 and c2008349.
    Hope this helps!!!

  • Problems when waking from long sleep periods

Suddenly this morning my iMac developed a problem when recovering from a long period of sleep. I'm having trouble finding a solution.
I have my iMac set to ask for password when it recovers from sleep or screen saver. When I woke my iMac this morning the password dialog box appeared at the top of the screen as a garbled mess. If I put my iMac back to sleep and then wake it again it usually solves the problem.
I don't want to turn password verification off. Has anyone seen this problem before? Any suggestions on what might be cause?

    funkyblue:
I usually leave my Pismo on and allow it to sleep. I find that waking from sleep and general functioning of the computer works a lot better if from time to time (I do it at least weekly) I shut down the computer, start up in Safe Mode, log in, empty Trash and reboot normally. The emptying Trash part clears the font caches.
You should consider doing other maintenance procedures, if you don't already. Gulliver's Mac OS X System Maintenance has good ideas with linked resources.
Please do not hesitate to post back with further questions or comments.
    Good luck.

  • Display problems when adding a document

    Hi,
one of our customers is facing a strange problem. He runs SBO 8.8 PL18 on Windows Server 2008 R2, and the users work in SBO through Terminal Server. I will do my best to explain what happens.
When one adds a manual journal entry, the screen flickers the same number of times there are rows. Let me explain the flickering. Suppose you have 10 rows. When you click Update, the table that displays the rows is kind of refresh or repainted 10 times, then fields are empty ready for a new journal entry. The best way I can describe what one can see is that the table is rolled down as many times as there are rows. Unfortunately I have not been able to record the flickering.
This take some times, and users fell eyes fatigue because of the flickering. I have seen it on my own computer, so this problem does not relate to the computer used to work with SBO. I am told that it happens as well in A/P Invoices.
The only hint I have is that display problem does not takes place with a TS established on Server 2003.
Any hint at what this can be, has someone else seen this ?
    Thanks

  • JtextField text too long problem

I have a little problem, I'm sure its very very simple to fix. The text I put into my JTextField is longer than the visible portion, so when I put text in there it keeps scrolling it to the end, so the start portion of the text isnt visible anymore (it scrolls it to the end instead). Now obviously I would rather want the beginning portion of the text to show, but I havent found a way to do that nicely (there must be some simple setting/function for this). And I dont want to crop the text either...
    Thanks :)

Use a JTextArea and call setCaretPosition(0) method on it.

  • CFGrid error when input too long

    Hello,
We have a grid that is bound to fields in search criteria form to filter the grid results.  The actual screen has 10 search fields, but the basic code looks like this:
    <cfgrid name="gridReports" format="html" bindOnLoad="false" selectOnLoad="true"
           bind="cfc:getReports({cfgridpage}, {cfgridpagesize}, {cfgridsortcolumn}, {cfgridsortdirection}, {form:field1@none}, {form:field2@none}, {form:field3@none} )">
                   <cfgridcolumn name="column1" header="Column Name" >
                   <cfgridcolumn name="column2" header="Column Name" >
                   <cfgridcolumn name="column3" header="Column Name" >
We have this running in 2 matching environments.  In one environment, this runs without any problems.  However in the other, when you fill in many serach fields or enter some long text into a few, it will return " Error invoking CFC [cfc filename]: Not Acceptable."  If you limit the search values entered, then the search runs just fine.  Any ideas on what may be causing the error and/or why it is only happening in one environment?
    Thanks for your help.

    cfc:getReports(
That doesn't look right to me. I miss the CFC's name. A dotted path to the CFC may also be relevant. Path is certainly one factor that may differ between servers.

  • Display problem when scrolling in Finder OS X Lion.

    Hi,
Last week i bought a new iMac, i7, AMD Radeon 6970M.
Sometimes, when scrolling in the Finder, the text is displayed weird.
See screendump. Is anyone known with this issue?

I've had the exact same problem with Lion.  Telephone support told me to reinstall OS X Lion, which didn't help. The genius at the Genius bar told me it was my 3rd party (Kingston) RAM.  He demonstated the display was fine without the extra RAM, but he was using a USB mouse with a scrollwheel.  At home, my bluetooh magic mouse continued to cause the same problem, and so did my trackpad.  So I determined it had to do with the faster (and different type of) scrolling that these newer devices perform.  I then saw that if I use the slider on the right side of the finder window instead of gesturing with the mouse or trackpad it works fine.
So I played with my settings a bit to see if I could overcome this problem, and found a solution.  I went to "Preferences-General-Show scroll bars" and changed from "Automatically based on input device" to "Always".  This nearly fixes the problem!  At least so far.  I get an occasional glitch if I scroll up and down a lot, but way less frequently than when its set to the default "Automatically based on input device".  This must be due to the new disappearing scrollbar "feature" in Lion.  Nicely done, Apple!

  • BIS Problem Unfixed for too long - status unsolved

    Greetings!
I'm a 8310 user and its been nearly 2 months I cannot using my BB optimally.
The problem started with suddenly I cannot browse internet using the native BB browser. I had to resort to download Opera mini using Blackberry Help application that can connected to internet.
For a while I can connect to internet via Opera. And then curious about what is going on with the native browser, I checked into the forum and thought I might need to upgrade my OS from 4.02 to 4.5.
After I upgraded thing went downhill from there. I cannot browse and my email can only receive, not send.
Checking to the Service Status:  Internet Service is not connected.
And then I found out also, the native email-set up application is also gone.
I began communicating with my provider: Indosat. First via phone, and later via emails.
According to them my 8310 is registered, and the BIS is on, but on my blackberry, I still cannot browse, connect to internet based social medias and cannot reply emails via blackberry.
I'm getting tired of having nearly 2 months communicating with Indosat reps. As helpful as they are, it is frustrating to be contacted by different person everytime I email back that the solutions they suggested were failed. I don't understad why they don't just assign 1 rep to solve a problem till its fixed instead ofa customer has to re-explain everything all over again every single time....Pardon the complain...
Back to topic, so my BB is still not able to browse this is what I posted to the Indosat rep on my email:

    Thank you in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Wow..what a hassle you are having with your service provider! It sounds like you are trying the correct things, but it's now completely clear. So, at the risk of being redundant, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! Remember, on step 1, if the HRT message does not arrive (you should first have a popup saying it's been sent...but it actually must arrive to your Messages app), then proceeding to the Service Books is moot. Sadly, only your carrier can resolve it as they are responsible for ALL of your services and support. They do have the ability (responsibility, IMHO!) to escalate your case into RIM if they cannot resolve it...it does not yet sound like they have done so. You have no free method by which to seek help directly from RIM...only via escalation from your carrier can you receive such support...and I think you need it (well, honestly, it's your carrier who needs the help from RIM, but escalating your case should achieve that).
For reference, this FAQ provides generic guidance as to what services you can expect with different service plans:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
However, the list is generic (as it must be) -- with hundreds of different carriers in the world each with multiple data plans, it's impossible to pinpoint for any single user what they should and should not have...the carriers are in charge of that. But hopefully the information will at least be useful for you.
    Good luck!

  • Display problems when connecting Samsung external display to Macbook Alu

    Here is the deal:
    1. I got a new Macbook Aluminum (yesss!)
    2. I got a sweet 23" Samsung LCD display (2048 x 1152)
    3. I got a DVI to Mini Display Port adapter
    4. I hooked the two up
    5. At first couldn't get a resolution higher than 640 x 480
    6. Figured it out
    7. After the Macbook went to sleep I tried to wake it up using my BT keyboard
    8. Screen came up with static/noise and then flashed the desktop off and on
    9. Unplugged display, opened Macbook to wake it up
    10. Macbook won't wake up. Caps lock key lights up, but that is it.
    11. Force shutdown and reboot
    12. External display works again, until later when Macbook falls asleep
    13. Here we go again
Yes I have downloaded the latest update. I have reset the PRAM, etc. with the help of an Apple support agent. So far, the problem remains.
Does anyone have any ideas? Any solutions other than me having to drive me lazy butt over the hill and taking 3 hours out of my day to have a Apple Genius look at my Macbook?

Don't bother bringing it to an Apple store and wasting your time. I'm pretty sure your problem is a known issue with the software and not hardware. I suggest you get a hold of Apple over the phone, make sure you talk to a "product expert" and not a general rep and I'm sure he'll clarify it with you.

  • Display problems when connecting MBP to LG 30FS4D HDTV

Apologies if a similar post has been asked before. Most questions related to this are with LCD TVs.
    Problem description :
    1. I connected my MBP to my LG 30FS4D HDTV ( this is not an LCD ). Both handshake and I can see the output on my TV. MBP display the tv control panel. But the output is just like s-video...probably not as good as that either !
How I connected it to the TV :
    2. miniDVI to DVI adapter ( $19 )
    3. HDMI ( $10 )
What I have tried so far :
    4. I changed the resolutions on the MBP tv display from 720p to 1080i, also other resolutions....but none of them is good quality !
    Questions :
    5. What kind of output should I expect on my tv - I was expecting at least a DVD quality output...but it's no where close to that ?
    6. Do I need to get expensive HDMI cable for this ?
    7. Is my TV the culprit ?
    8. Should I try this on someone's LCD TV ?

For anyone who's facing a similar issue :
Some of these slim TVs switch off other audio input when you connect the HDMI cable ( HDMI is after all, audio and video ). But there is another audio input - the digital optical audio input. In order to get the sound, get a toslink cable ( with optical audio male at one end and a simple headphone male at the other end ) and connect it from your MBP to the TV optical audio input.
