Tried loading iLife '11: Why does application iPhoto not open and say it may be damaged or incomplete?

I tried loading an iLife '11 Replacement DVD from Apple onto my currently updated 27" iMac OSX Version 10.6.8 and now am unable to access my iPhoto, am getting a message saying: You can't open the application iPhoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.
Looking at my iPhoto under About this Mac>more info>Software>Applications>iPhoto there is a big blank for Version and Kind and sayng it was last Modified 4/6/12, the day I tried loading the disc, and "No" for 64-Bit (intel).
So it looks like loading the iLife disc actually eliminated my iPhoto Application. Trying to open the iPhoto application on the hardrive get the same message, but it says the iPhoto application is a 21 MB application.
Would there be a danger in trying to re-install the iLife '11 disc?
Would anyone have any suggestions?

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

    Hello, PJCPace.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are some troubleshooting steps that I would try when experiencing this issue.

    Here’s some updates.
I can not uninstall Flash (CS4) using "Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium". It looks like Flash is not installed.
If I try to install it using the disk, it looks like Flash is not installed at all. So I go thrue the installation process, and follow the instructions, until it’s complete.
But if I go in my App folder, and look in the Adobe Flash CS4 folder the Flash.app icon has a circle with a bar in it. This is when I get the message.

  • Itunes will not open and says R6034 an application has made an attempt to load runtime library incorrectly, I tried to load it twice but nothing

Itunes will not open, it says R6034 an application has made an attempt to load C runtime library incorrectly, then it says service apple mobil device failed to start

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Post in the iPhoto forums for whichever version you are using.  You will also need to mention to the helpers there which OS version you are using.
Correct computer info will help to.  You posted in the Intel iMac forums yet your profile confirms you are using a Mac Pro.

  • Why does firefox hang when opening and takes several minutes to come up?

Why does Firefox hang for several minutes before coming up?

I am also having this problem. When trying to reboot, I get an endless cycle of the BIOS screen, then "MACHINE ERROR", then back. Running the same dmesg command as snoxu results in a similar error message. I am forced to shutdown by holding the power button. Upon rebooting, I get an error message that all extensions have been turned off (using Gnome Shell). Then I have to logout and login.
Shutting down and then restarting works fine.

  • Why is my iPhoto not opening?

I have iPhoto 11 on my Mabook Pro, which I bought this year in February. I never used iPhoto because I didn't know how to use it until one of my friends explained. Now when I open it, it just loads, it doesnt do anything but show the loading circle. When I first got my mac it opened just fine, but now it doesnt do anything. Can anyone explain what's wrong?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
