Tried to install latest version of adobe air using file hippo, this didn't work so uninstalled adobe air in the hope of reinstalling but this didn't work either.

I tried to install an update for adobe air 11 yesterday, at the end of the process I got the message "An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
After I click close, Windows Program Compatability Assistant opens saying "This program might not have installed correctly" and offers to "Reinstall using recommended settings".
When I click on "Reinstall using recommended settings", the same message comes up about the error and contact the administrator.
I use Google chrome and FileHippo update checker, I have also uninstalled the version of adobe air that was on my computer in the hope I could install the current version but unfortunately the error message is all I get.
If you need any further information I will be happy to help, although I have forgotten how to do a screenshot.

A reply to myself! Thanks to Adobe support I needed to update the Adobe Applications Manager to the Creative Cloud App which so far appears to have fixed the problem

I'm not sure of how safe it would be to uninstall QuickTime X. If you want to stop the system from using it right-click any file which it would normally open, under the "Open With" menu select "Other...", search for Quick Time 7 or whichever program you want to use, check the "Always Open With" option and you're done.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Trying to Install latest version of Adobe with no luck

I just purchased a new iMac running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2. When I go to the adobe site to check my version of adobe it says I have 9.0.124.0. I follow the instructions for dowloading and running the uninstaller and I get a notice that the uninstall was successful. I reboot then return to the adobe page to see if the unisnstall was successful but the old 9.0.124.0 is still there. Any ideas why I can't install the latest player?

Adobe is a company name, not a product. Do you mean Flash Player? Or Shockwave Player?

I'm trying to install the latest version of Flash (filename install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_aih.exe), browser = Firefox 14 (current), OS = Windows XP. I've tried multiple times, making sure to disable Norton Antivirus Autoprotect first.
At some point along the process - either during download or during installation - I get the following error message:

Whether I answer [yes] or [no] the result is the same - the program hangs. It does not close, and when I close it manually it asks if I really want to stop it. But if I leave it there, nothing happens.
Per advice of the website, I uninstalled Flash in order to start over fresh. What that means is that, instead of having an outdated version of Flash, I now have none.
I've tried to RTFM but searches for this error come up empty. I'm curious why Internet Explorer is being involved in this to begin with. But mostly, I'm just curious how to get this thing to work.

We're investigating this issue and we'd like to get some additional details. I'd appreciate if anyone experiencing these errors could do the following steps:
Download the Flash Player installer
Open a command prompt and navigate to the installer location (eg. "cd c:\users\username\downloads\")
Run the installer, using a “/debug”.argument (eg. “install_flashplayer11x32ax_chrd_aih.exe /debug”)
Once the installer runs and the error is reproduced, a file named “host.developer.log” will be created in your system’s temp folder.
You can quickly access the temp folder by clicking on Start > Run, then type "%temp%".
Locate the "host.developer.log" file and either post the contents in a reply or send directly to [email protected]
Along with the debug log, please include the following info:
Operating System (if you're on XP, what service pack do you have installed)
Browser
Network proxy setup (if applicable)

"license file for this version could not be found" message when trying to install latest version of Firefox

I keep trying to install Firefox 3.6.10, and it seems to work, but then when it comes time to accept the user agreement, that option is grayed out and I can only go back. In the Software License Agreement box is the following message: "The license file for this version could not be found. Please visit Firefox homepage for more information."

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer. 
Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.
