Trouble accessing devices remotely.

I have a Linksys E1200 router.
My problem is I have installed a camera system that allows remote viewing.
I cannot access the system through the E1200 I am not very knowledgeable in net working.
What do I need to do to access the DVR from a remote computer?

You have to enable a port number for the camera to be viewable over the internet or remotely. The first thing that you have to check though is the internet connection type that the router is getting from your internet provider. You would need a public ip address from your ISP in order for this setup to work. If you are already on a Cable internet service then it is okay because they usually have public ip addresses. If you are on DSL internet connection, make sure that your modem is set to full bridge. If that is all set then you can proceed to the next step of enabling port range forwarding on the router's setup screen for the dvr or the camera. Contact tech support for your DVR system to obtain the correct port number that will be opened on the router. And with that, the DVR should be assigned with a specific ip address so that say if you are on a remote location you can access the camera this way: http://publicwaniportnumberofcamera. Trouble accessing a remote machine via ARD over a VPN

Hi There,
I'm having trouble accessing a remote Workstation via ARD over a VPN.
The VPN is set up and I can:
- Control our 10.6 server via ARD remotely
- Mount volums from the 10.6 server remotely
- Access another server (we run an accounting server) remotely
But we can't access a Workstation using ARD.
I can connect to the Workstation when in the office so assume it's configured for access - I guess I suspect the issue lies with the Firewall on the 10.6 server and/or the Netgear FSV366G Firewall.
The VPN is setup on the 10.6 server so figure it's something to do with Snow Leopard server?
I'm just not sure how to narrow things down and fix the issue - although I setup the server I'm not super Unix savvy.
Any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

I can't say for certain what is going wrong in your case but I can confirm it is possible to do an ARD connection i.e. Screen Sharing to a remote user connected via a VPN. The way we do this is to get the user to connect to the VPN server (a Mac OS X Server), then on the Mac OS X Server in Server Admin see what IP address they have been allocated by the VPN server, then tell ARD Admin to connect to that IP address.
This works fine for me.
The IP address will be a 'local' to the ARD and VPN machines IP address it would not be the remote public or private IP addresses.

EA4500 Unable to Access Devices Remotely

I hope someone can help.   I just switched to the EA4500 Router and I'm now unable to remotely access my camera devices.   I have done the port forward.   I can access the cameras from my local LAN both when using the local 10. ..and external 99 .. Addresses.   When I go off the local connection -   Access does not work.     Slingbox did its auto configuration and I can access it.   I just cant get to camera devices (Panosonic, Foscam, etc.).
What could be wrong?    Please help.   Thanks

Just make sure to assign a fix IP address to the cameras. You can use the DHCP reservation feature of the router to assign these cameras a specific IP. This is working with the old router? Right?

Cannot seem to access device remotely

Hope someone could help
I have a temperature sensor device connected to my router and want to be able to monitor it remotely over IP.
It works fine on the LAN side but I cannot access anything on the WANT side.
I set up the port forwarding table but it seems I am not even seeing the router ??
I running Internet cable through time warner as the ISP with a WRT160N router..It has to be a simple setting or something I anm missing>

Open the setup page of the router. Click on Administration tab and disable UPnP. Save the settings.
Go to Setup tab and change the MTU size to 1365. Save the settings.
Go to Security tab and uncheck the box ' Filter Anonymous Internet request'. Save the settings.
Power cycle the router and try to access the device on the Internet.
Make sure that firmware on your router is updated.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

I have Dreamweaver CS3 and have no trouble using it to access remote files. This is not a Dreamweaver CS3 issue.
Is your password correct.
Is your username is correct
Are you in the correct "root" directory for your website?
Is the server expecting SFTP (unlikely)?
Have you checked the Server Compatibility button and tried unchecking and checking FTP optimization and alternative FTP move method?
Has your hosting provider suddenly changed to IP v 6 (unlikely)?
Have you changed your firewall?
These are things to check out in Dreamweaver in the Remote Info panel in your Advanced Site Definition.

Having trouble accessing internet with new wireless WRT54...

Having trouble accessing internet with new wireless WRT54G. Used easylink to read existing router BEFSR41 which works great to westell modem provided by Verizon. When connect new router Easylink configures WRT54G but when trying to connect to internet...fails. All lites indicate good. Not using wireless device yet, just the wired ethernet. Router set up as DHCP.
I keep going back to old router and works great every time. Help!

Thanks for response, however I tried setting unit to 192.168.2.1 (leaving DHCP) to no avail. I put my old unit (BEFSR41) back in and I'm back up. I need to sit back and decide which way to go on this. Perhaps it's defective and I should return it.

Problem accessing iCloud remotely

I need to access iCloud remotely every now and then. It all worked very well up until a week ago. Whenever I type the URL www.icloud.com instead of the usual login fields I get a page suggesting to configure iCloud on my device. It is configured on all my iOs devices and my Mac (with latest versions). What's wrong? Thank you ;)

You cannot access the iCloud website on an iOS device (at least not on Safari, it may be possible on a non-Apple browser), only on a Mac or PC. On an iOS device you have to use the individual apps - Mail, Contacts, Calendar etc. - to access your data.

Simply accessing a remote server

At work, I'm playing around with accessing our in-house oracle databases remotely. So far, I've had very little trouble accessing databases on our local network. I just defined an alias in tnsnames.ora and the 'connect username/password@alias' command worked fine. However, whenever I try to use similar methods to access some of our file servers which are only reachable over WAN through an ip address, every time I try to connect it tells me the operation has timed out. I've read through so much documentation and everything appears to be configured correctly. If anyone thinks they know what is going on, please help me out :).

this is not quite the forum for this type of question but i would suggest that you have some type of securiyt between you and the remote servers (firewalls, etc.) there are a number of things you have set up to enable to get sqlnet working through firewalls.

Hello! Need help! Having trouble accessing photos from Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, I had a free trial but never registered the program because I was not using it. The other day I was taking pics off a Canon camera, & they automatically loaded into that site. I selected cancel several times, but the program did not respond. Once they completely loaded in, the program asked if I wanted to erase photos from the camera, I selected no but it started erasing them, I was able to stop it but 44 were erased off the camera. I can see the photos in the program but can not access them since I never registered. I tried to register now but received email saying that program has expired. So how do I get my photos? Please help! The photos are not mine, I was loading them from a friends camera, & they are important vacation memories to her! Thanks! Ruth

When you click on one of the thumbnails do you see a blank window where the full sized image? Or do you see this in the window:
In either case make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Close ... before going for a specific Cisco app ... lets find out some details:
Host we need more details:
What is your server environment (Windows Server, or Mac OS X Server, or Linux)?
What security is implemented in your environment - as what is restricted (RDP for all or specifc credentials on all machines? Are you part of local admin group to the server you wish to connect)?
Does your environment Support CISCO IPSec connection? If so use Settings> VPN and IPSec tab to enter VPN details, if not then go with above suggestion. IF your restricted to RSA then either built in VPN settings or 3rd party app for RSA would suffice.
Finally, there are many RDP applications out there I use "Mocha RDP Light" (free minimal ads when launched not when connecting).

I've written a program in labview 7.1 to monitor/control a labview application running in the test cell through Remote Panel. I and my coworker can remotely monitor and/or control this labview application individually. But if my coworker has the remote panel displayed on his PC and I try to get the remote panel on my PC, I get a labview error (63) as below:
"LabVIEW: Serial port receive buffer overflow.
LabVIEW: The network connection was refused by the server."
My question is: Can multiple PCs access one remote panel at the same time?

Trouble accessing files on external USB drive after 10.6.8 update

Upgraded to Mac 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro (I'm not a techie, but the "About This Mac" thingy says 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 - I assume that means something to somebody). Since the upgrade, I've been having problems accessing data on an external HD connected via USB - there were no issues before the upgrade, but now it's impossible to even navigate to a particular file or subfolder half the time, as the process freezes 95% of the time (every so often I am able to get through, for no obvious reason) - usually I just get what looks like an empty folder and a little spinning thing in the bottom right-hand corner. Sometimes when I do get to a file - say it's a ZIP file - I'll try to unZIP it and the process will hang; if I try to drag it to the desktop and unZIP it there, I can't get it to copy to the desktop, I just get the "copying files" box and a bar that never shows any progress, it just hangs at zero bytes out of whatever it might be.
Also having intermittent issues with another external USB drive, which is the one I use for Time Machine - about one in every five backup attempts is successful, the rest of the time I get a message saying the backup couldn't be performed.
I have two external FireWire drives as well, and I'm having no trouble with either of those - so I'm assuming the problem is USB-related (and 10.6.8 related, since none of this was happening before the upgrade).
So - I'm wondering if anybody else is having the same issues, and f there's a solution that a non-techie like me could handle that won't make blood come out of my ears.

Thanks baltwo - the PRAM tip was helpful. For some reason I still have trouble accessing a few files, I'm putting that down to them being somehow corrupted. Eric, thanks, but I tried using Disk Utility and the communication problems I was having with the drive meant that the repair couldn't be performed. I may try again now that that side of things seems to be running a little more smoothly. Anyway, thank you both!

Radius server not returning Filter-id information to access device

I have set up a Radius server (v. 4.15 16 april 2003) on NW65sp2 server
and I'm trying to use it to authenticate to a Watchguard Firebox II
firewall. The authentication functions but apparently the firewall is
not getting (or not parsing) the Filter-Id information to assign access
rights via groups. When I login to the firewall with "user1", the
response is "Authenticationsucceeded, but no access grantedfor user". If
I define "user1" on the firewall and assign it to an access policy, then
everything works. But if I define an access group "group1" and assign
it to an access policy on the firewall and then assign "group1" to the
eDir Access Profile object that is assigned to "user1", (Filter-Id =
group1) I get the above authentication succesful, but no access granted.
Is there a way to identify exactly what information is being sent from
the Radius server to the access device so I can determine if the problem
is on the Novell Radius server side or the Watchguard Firewall side?
I've activated the Radius Debug Log, but that only tells me that it
finds all the relevant objects in eDirectory and that authentication is
successfull, but there is no indication that any other information is
being sent to the access device.
As I understand it, the filer-id's are supposed to allow a link between
the eDir user objects and what access rights are allowed on the access
device (firewall). Essentially this is how I define group memberships on
the firewall using eDir user. Is this assumption correct?
The goal of course is to allow access over the firewall without having
to type in 500 user names on the firewall.
Any ideas or tips on what I could check or configure differently would
be helpful. thanks
