Trouble Adding a Printer Wirelessly

I've recently purchased my first Macbook Pro. I had no issues installing my Epson NX230 Printer/Scanner the first time. My printer was already connected to my network and my Mac found it (through bonjour) and I was able to print. This worked fine until I had to unplug my printer to move it. The printer was still showing as connected to the network, but my computer wasn't recognizing the connection unless I connected to the printer via USB.
I struggled with this problem for days. I uninstalled the printer, re-downloaded the epson drivers and tried to install again since it was so easy the first time. This time it would not recognize the printer. In the "add printer" dialouge nothing shows up. I was constantly updating and uninstalling and reinstalling and then all of the sudden one day it worked (and I have no idea what I did).
Now, a few weeks later, I'm having the same issue. The power went out and now my computer can't find my printer, even though my printer is connected to the network. Once again I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. When I get to the "add printer" dialouge nothing is showing up. I'm really frustrated because it worked the first time, so I KNOW my printer and my Mac are wirelessly compatible. Please help! Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem with an Epson Stylus CX7800. I was on the phone with Apple Care for about 1 hour trying everything and nothing has worked. They told me to call Epson, so now I know that won't help! I've downloaded drivers, deleted everything, and re-loaded, and still no printer on the list. Right now I am still without a printer so if someone can tell me how to get this to work it would be wonderful. By the way, the scanner works (Epson 7800 is an all-in-one). Weird.

  • Trouble connecting C4795 printer wirelessly

Ok, so here it what I have:
    Photosmart C4795 printer
    Mac Mini w/ OS X 10.9.5
    Cisco DPC3825 router
I have tried everything under the sun to connect this printer wirelessly to my computer to no avail.  I have searched the internet high and low for a solution, but have found nothing.  Please help me with this issue.

    Hello @Greentarpon,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are experiencing issues when trying to configure your HP Photosmart C4795 All-in-One Printer for wireless printing with your Mac OS X 10.9.5 computer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this network connectivity issue. Now, just so you are aware, HP actually doesn't have a downloadable Full Feature Software and Driver package available for your model of printer on the Mac OS X 10.9 Operating System due to the age of your printer. Therefore, we will be relying on your Apple Updates to load all the software and drivers onto your Mac computer for you printer. Also, because there is no HP downloadable Full Feature Software and Drivers there is no wireless setup for your Mac computer. Therefore, you have two options:
Option 1: Use a supported Operating System to configure the wireless on your printer. Once the wireless is configured on your printer than you simply add (+) your wireless bonjour printer into your Mac OS X 10.9 computer.
    Supported Operating Systems include:
    Mac OS X 10.4, Mac OS X 10.5, Mac OS X 10.6, and Mac OS X 10.7
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1
Option 2: Run the Push Button or Pin methods of configuring wireless. These options will only work if your router has this capability.
How to Configure Wireless with Push Button Method:
    1. On the control panel Home screen, touch the button next to Scan.
    2. Touch the button next to Wireless Menu
    3. Touch the button next to WPS.
    4. Touch the button next to Push Button. The printer begins a timer that lasts approximately two minutes to allow time to press the WPS button on the router.
    5. Press the WPS button on the router. The printer connects to the network.
    6. Touch OK on the printer control panel.
How to Configure Wireless with Pin Method:
    1. On the control panel Home screen, touch the button next to Scan.
    2. Touch the button next to Wireless Menu.
    3. Touch the button next to WPS.
    4. Touch the button next to PIN. The PIN displays on the control panel. The printer begins a timer that lasts approximately two minutes to allow time to enter the WPS PIN.
    5. Enter the PIN on the router.
    6. Touch Start. The printer displays a PIN.
    7. Touch OK on the printer control panel.
Once the printer and router are connected, by either the Push Button or Pin Methods, than you simply add (+) your wireless bonjour printer into your Mac.
    How to Install the software
Click the Apple menu (), and then click System Preferences. The System Preferences window opens.
Click Print & Scan. The Print & Scan window opens.
Click the plus sign (). The name of your printer displays.
    Click Add Printer or Scanner.
Select your printer, and then click Add.
Click Install, and then click Agree on the software license agreement window to install the software and add the printer to the queue.
After the installation process completes, verify that your printer displays in the queue.

Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your connectivity issues. Should you prefer to run through Method 1 on a supported Operating System, please let me know what Operating System you have on the supported computer  (What's my OS?) and I will provide you with detailed wifi configuration instructions. Good luck!

  • I am having trouble adding a printer to the eprint center.

I am logged in, so next I go to add the printer, it opens a box and asks me to enter my  code.  I have the sheet which just printed out.  I put in the code without the email part @hpeprint.com, I hit ok and I get this hour glass that just stays there and never does anything.  I have tried this quite a few times and have had no luck.  I even reset all settings on the printer, got a new number and tried it again.
Anyone know why that is happening on the website?
    thanks

    Hey Sportsman7!
I don't think there is currectly any problem with the website. What browser are you using (IE8, Firefox, Chrome, etc.)? If you have a different browser, try adding it from there. If not, you can go to either firefox.com or google.com/chrome to download a different one. I just tried adding one of our printers to eprintcenter and it worked.
    Hope this helps!
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

  • Trouble adding PDF printer

I seem to be unable to add PDF to my list of printers, as I have been able to do in the past. Is it no longer necessary to add a .PPD file to print directly to PDF from, say, Illustrator or InDesign?
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Thank you!

  • Trouble adding a printer

I have been using my Epson R1800 printer fine for 1-2 years. When I couldn't get my iPhoto to give me appropriate paper options, I decided to download new drivers. This is when my problems began. My MacBook Pro needs to add my printer, now-I have "no printer selected". I have been on the phone with Epson for 1 hour last night. I have successfully downloaded the correct drivers. I have deleted all old drivers. I have "dumped" various folders where corrupted Epson stuff might be. So, when I click the "+" button to add a printer, it successfully finds my printer so we know the connection is fine. I highlight the printer, click on add, and then there is nothing in the "location" bar plus the computer searches for the drivers and after about 5 minutes, the little wheel that goes round and round just stops. Epson claims they have done everything they can - I believe them. The feel it is an operating system problem with my computer. Any thoughts about how to resolve this?

  • Trouble adding HP 7960 photosmart printer to my laptop via wireless server

I have a desktop PC that I have connected to a Netgear FWP114P wireless firewall print server, documents print fine from my desktop to my HP photosmart 7960 printer. I am trying to connect my Dell inspiron laptop to the print server and not succeeding.
My Dell laptop works fine for internet access via the Netgear print server.
What I tried:  I put the HP photosmart 7960  disc into the dell laptop and downloaded the printer software. I did not see a choice on the printer software to select that I was connecting to the printer wirelessly. I only had the choice to hardwire the laptop to the printer which I chose not to do during the installation process.
All the software for photo management did download to my laptop but the software for the printer did not download because I chose not to hardwire the laptop to the printer.
Any suggestions about what I can do to connect my laptop wirelessly to my printer would be greatly appreciated.
     thanks, Kathy

Is there software for the Netgear server that you could load onto it?

  • Trouble with printing wireless

Can anyone help. Up until recently I have had no trouble printing wirelessly with iPad and HP photos mart B210 series. Recently it has become a nightmare.
Printing jobs are left in a que. it connects to the printer, but will not complete print task. The same problem occurs with mac book pro. Printer is connected
To router and so is iPad and MacBook. Iphone4s also a problem sending print jobs. Have spent long hours trying to sort this out .but to no avail.
Then suddenly I van print with iPad and mac book but not phone!,
    What is going on!!!

    Gotch-
Did you happen to make any changes to your WiFi network at about the time your trouble started?
I suggest you unplug your WiFi router for a few seconds.  Then reset the network in your iPad and iPhone.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will need to reconnect each to WiFi.
Is it possible you have a neighbor whose Wifi router happens to have the same name (SSID) as yours?  It is possible for a printer, an iPad or a computer to jump to a different WiFi base station with the same name.  This happened to me a few weeks ago when I had trouble printing.  (There are a LOT of WiFi base stations out there named Linksys!)

  • I need help adding my printer to my home wireless network

My printer was shut down for several months. When i turned it on it was not longer connected to my wireless network. It recognizes my SSID and that of other wireless networks in the area. But I cannot get it connected to my home wireless network.
When I enter my passphrase it returns error "passphrase invalid." If I use the Push Button or PIN set-up I get the error message "WPS timed out."
I have followed the instructions useing the HP Printer set-up disc. It worked on one computer today (it printed a wireless network test report). But, then I could not find the printer on the network later. I also noticed the report does not show a IP address for the printer.
I have also been online with my internet provider and we changed my passphrase 11 times and the printer never recognized any of them. I am operating another printer wirelessly on the same system. By the way, shutting the other printer down did not seem to work. But, they both worked on the network previously.I have also added and deleted the printer several times.
The printer I am trying to add is a HP Photosmart Premium Web C309n-s
I am using a Windows 7 Operating System 64-bit on my laptop and Windows XP 32 bit on the other computers on my home wireless network,
    Please help.

This can be the result of selecting the wrong driver. An older, unsupported laser printer will sometimes work with the generic Postscript driver.

  • Just bought a new PC with Windows 7 installed on it. I'm having trouble Adding my Lexmark Optra S 1625 Printer ( no drivers found )?

I have contacted Lexmark and they claim that the OS has a compatable driver included.   But, so far I have NOT been successful at adding the printer.   The Optra S 1625 is currently shared by one of my XP PC's on my network.   My new, Windows 7 PC, is finding the printer just fine, but is not able to locate an acceptalbe driver for it.   Perhaps, I am just not familiar enough yet with how to work with Windows 7 to get around the issue.   I need some help.   Lexmark claims that Windows 7 should have a compatable driver included with the OS ???  Please Advise.

    Hi Fidmon,
After performing a research, I just get the same conclusion as Rick Dee and Shadow Walker. There is no Lexmark Optra S 1625 Printer driver for Windows 7 provided on Windows Update Catalog. Also, no driver downloading information for your printer listed on the Lexmark Product Download Center.
At this time, you can try the suggestions raised by Shadow Walker to install the similar printer driver to check the issue. For your convenicen, I have located a driver for OPTRA S 1255 printer. Please download and install the driver to test the issue.
Please note: Since this is a Windows XP driver, I can't guarantee if it works for you, but we can try installing the driver under Windows XP Compatible Mode.
    OPTRA S 1255
If the driver did not work, I strongly suggest communicating with Lexmark Support and ask them to produce the proper driver for Windows 7.

  • Trouble with printing wirelessly to HP color laserjet 3550

I am unable to print wirelessly to my HP. Does anyone have any suggestions?

That is a non-postscript, USB printer. HP's driver is for USB only, because it bypasses CUPS (called a monolithic driver).
Easiest way to get a CUPS driver is install hpijs + foomatic + ghostscript:

My MacAir is not able to print to my C3480  printer. This is a new issue. I've been printing wirelessly since January from this computer. OS 10.9
Message I'm seeing is "The printer is not connected" and in the que under the doc name "Printing - looking for printer [or] unable to locate printer"
I have downloaded a driver patch that was released this year and restarted the computer.

Same problem. We have a new virgin router.
The HP instructions send you round in circles.
Install HP software and follow instructions to install a wireless printer.
Only problem is when trying to download the HP installation software for my printer I'm told (by HP) that it is built into the mac OS so I don't need to install.
As far as I can tell, the only way you can install a wireless/bonjour/airplay/whatever printer is when it is connected to the network - you then choose the printer within the mac os 'add printer'. BUT HOW CAN YOU DO THIS WHEN YOU CAN'T CONNECT THE PRINTER TO THE NETWORK!!!!
I don't have a cd drive on my mac so can't install from a disc.
Any help would be most apreciated.
    Thanks

  • Printing wirelessly with Airport Express to HP psc1350 suddenly stopped

I have an imac G5 running OS X 10.3.9. I am wirelessly connected to a router (D-Link 624) to run the internet and am also wirelessly connected to an airport express to print to my HP psc 1350. I set all this up myself and it was running without any problems. However, I decided that it was probably best to add some level of security to my internet connection so added WPA security into the mix. I had to reset the airport express and connect it back up to the network (which took me a little time to work out, but I managed to do it!) and then I tested the printer and it worked perfectly. A couple of days later I needed to print something so turned the printer on again and nothing. I kept getting an error about printer connection failing. So I thought, I'll unistall the HP software and reinstall it from the CD. Nope - the CD refused to install. So, I went to the hp page and found what I thought was the right software, and installed it and that seemed to install but not help the matter. I can see the printer under Rendezvous, but it says "driver not installed". Plugging the printer directly into the imac works fine so the driver must be installed. What I can't understand is that it all worked fine before, and even after I changed the security settings so surely that can't be the problem. But how do I get it back?

I had no choice but to run through the HP installer from the CD - there was no option to install the driver separately. I uninstalled the downloaded software that I had installed thinking it would fix it! The CD is old (well, at least 2 years old) so I don't think there is any chance the software on the installer could be too new. I had previously set up the printer to print wirelessly and it worked like a dream. I am positive that I did not go to that much trouble when I originally installed it - I would have given up! So it seems strange when I go through what I presume I did before that it won't work now. I thought macs were supposed to be easy - I guess it is if it is plug & play, but once something goes wrong it is hard to find what the problem is - especially for non-technical people like me!

  • Trouble using networked printer

I am a new iMac user with quesiotns regarding netowrked printing. Any advice/explanations would be appreciated.
I am using an Epson RX580 printer which is physically connected to a Windows PC. I am able to print from the Mac over a wireless connection through a Belkin router and the PC. I was running into trouble with print quality when printing photos (faint pictures) as well as text (dot matrix quality) from the Mac. I checked on the Epson website which advocated NOT using the Gutenprint drivers. I downloaded the latest driver from Epson's website. However, I do not know how to find that driver to identify it as the one to use. In the Print dialog box, I chose the Epson SP RX580 driver, which looks like just one of the long list of provided Apple drivers, so I do not know if it is actually the updated driver or not. In any case, when trying to print using this driver, the whole process locks up when I click on Print for some reason, and then I have to do a Force Quit.
    My questions:
    1. How can I find out if the proper driver has been downloaded and installed?
    2. I have read posts on this forum suggesting incompatibility issues with Epson printers and Macs. Is there any truth to this? I note that Epson's website seems to give instructions regarding avoidance of Gutenprint drivers on computers running OS X 10.5, so I assume the Epson printers are ok to use if the right driver is used.
    3. I have not tried direct connecting the printer to the Mac, but wonder if my problem may be due to the network situation. Obviously, I am able to print with the Gutenprint driver, so it isn't an issue of the Mac finding the printer, but rather of print quality.
    4. I have contacted Epson as well, but am not sure how much help they will be, so wanted to see if I could get any answers from this forum.
    Thanks.

I have downloaded the Gutenprint drivers and installed them. I added the printer using "Print & Fax" and clicked on Windows to locate the printer. I can print to the printer now. However, the print quality is still lacking. I have tried to adjust the print settings, but can't get it right. I want to print text docs, but also photos from the Mac through the network outlined above.
In general, I recommend that you use a higher quality setting such as "High" rather than "Standard" for most Epson printers. For photos, I would suggest that you set "Color Precision" to "Best". Also be sure to set the "Image Type" to the proper setting for the job you are printing. There are options for Text, Text and Graphics, Photograph, etc. You may also find that setting the Composite Gamma to 0.8 will improve the output.
Also, my "borderless" photos (4x6) still come out with a very thin border...
Did you set the printer feature to print borderless? What about the setting to Expand to maximum print area rather than Shrink to fit the page?
    Any other tips?
There are almost too many settings with the Gutenprint drivers. If you are often switching between text and photograph printing, you may want to create Presets for the different settings.
