Trouble compiling sleepycat perl module for dbxml on win32

I'm trying to compile the perl module for Oracle DB XML with no luck so far. I've added nmake and cl to my path using the vcvars32 script. But running 'perl Makefile.PL -config.win32' produces:

That might not be a problem, although I think all of those libraries are included with the dbxml download. In any case, running nmake fails:

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I figured it out. I discovered that the developer tools weren't installed by default on the Darwin OS. I downloaded them from the Apple site, installed the dmg file and then installed the required Perl modules and then it worked beautifully.
The problem was that the modules couldn't make properly when being installed.

  • Compiling a SOAP module for PHP5 in Leopard

    Hi. I thought I'd try to compile a SOAP module for the stock PHP installation in MacOSX Leopard.
    I snagged the php-5.2.5 sources from php.net, and used the compile arguments found in the "php -i" command. I only added "--with soap=shared --enable-shared", like this:
    *./configure '--prefix=/usr' '--mandir=/usr/share/man' '--infodir=/usr/share/info' '--disable-dependency-tracking' '--with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs' '--with-ldap=/usr' '--with-kerberos=/usr' '--enable-cli' '--with-zlib-dir=/usr' '--enable-trans-sid' '--with-xml' '--enable-exif' '--enable-ftp' '--enable-mbstring' '--enable-mbregex' '--enable-dbx' '--enable-sockets' '--with-iodbc=/usr' '--with-curl=/usr' '--with-config-file-path=/etc' '--sysconfdir=/private/etc' '--with-openssl' '--with-xmlrpc' '--with-xsl=/usr' '--with-pear' --enable-soap=shared --enable-shared*
    This builds just fine.
    Then I:
    ~ copy php_src/modules/soap.so to /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/
    ~ set extension_dir="/usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/" and add extension=soap.so in /private/etc/php.ini
    If I run "php -i" now, I get
    *dyld: NSLinkModule() error*
    *dyld: Symbol not found: _OnUpdateLong*
    *Referenced from: /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/soap.so*
    *Expected in: flat namespace*
    *Trace/BPT trap*
    I found an OnUpdateLong function in php_src/ext/zlib/zlib.c, but I don't know if that's relevant.
    What am I doing wrong?
    (Yes, I know that there are several third-party stand alone php intallations for MacOSX (MacPorts, Fink, Entropy...), but I'd really like to just make the stock PHP work.)

    Now I've tried using the php source from
    http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/Current/apachemodphp-44/
    as well. I've just added "--enable-shared --enable-soap=shared
    --enable-zlib=shared" to the Makefile and removed the mysql-related lines.
    After running make and copying soap.so and zlib.so to /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/, the results are basically the same:
    The "symbol not found: _OnUpdateLong" came from missing zlib, but zlib complains about another missing symbol: zend_ini_boolean_displayercb.
    It seems like zendini_boolean_displayercb is defined in phpsrc/Zend/zendini.c as ZENDINI_DISP(zend_ini_boolean_displayercb). I cannot compile zend as a module, since it's a core thingie.

  • Can't install perl modules for bugzilla

    I'm currently attempting to install Bugzilla on my Arch server. This service depends on Perl and a collection of modules.
    I attempted:
    perl install-module.pl --all
    ... and it worked, so it seemed. However, when attempting to run my install script again, I am warned that the module DBI is not installed. I attempt to install it manually (specify it in particular with the previous command), and it says that DBI is up to date. I attempt the script again, and still get the error.
    Is this a bug with Bugzilla's install script, or with the installation of Perl modules?

    Here is a link to a resolution in Lion. It may also solve your Mountain Lion Perl DBD issue as well.
    If you run the command below before executing your Perl script the library is found and all is well!
    export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/local/mysql/lib:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH"
    Put this in your .bashrc or .bash_profile.
    On Apple StackExchange, Matthew Weiss had another approach.
    I found on another website the following command
    $ sudo perl -MCPAN -e 'CPAN::Shell->notest(install => CPAN::Shell->r)'
    This updated all my perl modules and all is back to normal. Not sure why or what, but don't care that it is working now.

  • DBD/DBI perl modules for HTTP Web Server

    Hi,
    I installed the http webserver from the 9i database CDs. But it seems to come without the DBi and DBD:Oracle modules. Where do I get them for the windows plattform ? binaries preferred.
    Regards
    Knut

    First, check if the version of perl installed is ActiveState's. I doubt it is...at least it's not on my 9.2 version.
    DBI does not seem to be installed, you're right.
    You have two options:
    1) The best way is to ensure you have the same compiler they do (probably MSVC 6.0 SP3), but it's hard to tell and build DBI and DBD::XXXX yourself.
    2) Install ActivePerl and their modules, then force Apache to use that...

  • Having trouble compiling netmap kernel module

    Hey everyone,
    First time poster here. Hopefully this question isn't too stupid but I've been having a hard time figuring this out.
    I'm trying to install the netmap drivers for Arch. I've downloaded the header files through pacman, but the configure script for netmap spits out an error stating it requires the full kernel source.
    This is where I'm unsure of what to do. I've gone to kernel.org and downloaded this tar ball: http://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/sou … src.tar.gz
    I unpacked it to /usr/src/ and, as instructed in the configure script's error, I run the script with an option to point to the kernel source as such:
    ./configure --kernel-sources=/usr/src/linux/
    ********************************** ERROR **********************************
    *** Cannot find full kernel sources.
    *** We need the full kernel sources to build the netmap-enabled drivers.
    *** Please note that most distributions provide separate packages for kernel
    *** headers and sources. Once you know the path to kernel sources, you can
    *** rerun this script with the additional
    *** --kernel-sources=/path/to/sources

    *** If you are only interested in VALE and pipes, you can rerun the script
    *** now with the '--no-drivers' option. Hardware devices will then be accessed
    *** via a generic adapter at reduced performance."
    *** Current configuration values:
    *** kernel directory /lib/modules/3.18.6-1-ARCH/build
    *** [/usr/lib/modules/3.18.6-1-ARCH/build]
    *** linux version 31206 [3.18.6]
    *** module file netmap.ko
    *** subsystems generic monitor pipe vale
    *** no-drivers
    But it keeps giving me the same error! Did I not download the kernel source? I feel like I'm so close...

  • Compile module for Oracle VM Server

    I need to install the the RDAC multipath driver.
    To do this I need to compile the driver module. I have installed kernel-ovs-devel-2.6.18-8.1.6.0.18.el5.i686.rpm but when now I need the gcc compiler --- and propably other stuff as well.
    How can I install the gcc compiler on the ovs system ? Or how can I compile the rdac module for the Oracle VM server ?
    I have read somewhere that the Oracle VM server is based on EL5 --- but how can I use this information to compile the driver ?

    I don't like suggesting thing "a" when people like to get an answer for "b" - however, lets go :)
    OracleVM comes with device mapper multipathing. This is a general multipath driver. You can use this as an alternative to RDAC.
    Advantages: Runs on most stoarges and you don't need tom compile modules.
    Setup is also very easy. Just install the device-mapper-multipath package from the OracleVM CD. run "chkconfig multipathd on". Comment out the "blacklist" section in /etc/multipath.conf. Reboot. And then you should see devices in /dev/mapper.
    Just use those devices instead of /dev/sdX and you have multipathing. You can verify this by cable pulling. Also execute "multipath -l" so see what's happening.
    Regards,
    Robert
    p.s. For GCC you probably need gcc, glibc-devel, libgcc, libgomp and maybe some more, but just try to install gcc - it tells you what packages are missing. Then just install those from the Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 CD.

  • Compiling STREAM module for 64-bit kernel

    Hi,
    I am trying to compile a STREAM module for Solaris. The results I get when I execute "isalist" and "isainfo -kv" are:
    -"sparcv9+vis sparcv9 sparcv8plus+vis sparcv8plus sparcv8 sparcv8-fsmuld sparcv7 sparc"
    -"64-bit sparcv9 kernel modules"
    The host is a Ultra5_10 with SunOS 5.7 sun4u sparc.
    First I tried to compile the module with gcc 2.8.1 but altough the compilation apparentelly finisihed OK I did not get to load the module. Later I read that, gcc so far does not generate binaries for 64-bit sparc.
    So I installed the Sun WorkShop 5 environment (try version) and I tried to compile my sources with the following line:"cc -D_KERNEL -xarch=v9 -xcode=abs32 -xregs=no%appl -x03 -I. -I/usr/include -c mymodule.c"
    but I get a huge list of errors such as:
    "/usr/include/sys/thread.h/, line73:warning: volatile is a keyworkd in
    ANSI C"
    "/usr/include/sys/thread.h/, line 73:sintax error before or at:volatile"
    so if I compile adding the directire "-D_ASM" to the previous line, the list of errors descreases to 2 lines:
    "/usr/include/sys/kstat.h, line 52: sintax error before or at: hrtime_t"
    "/usr/include/sys/kstat.h, line 52: cannot recover from previous errors".
    I have also tried adding directives such as: -D_LP64 -D__sparcv9 -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE, -D_XOPEN_SOURCE but I do not get to compile it successfully.
    Could someone be so kind to give me a clue of what I am doing wrong, and what should I do in order to compile it??.
    The header files I have included right now in my ".c" are:
    #include <sys/stream.h>
    #include <sys/conf.h>
    #include <sys/modctl.h>
    #include <sys/kmem.h>
    #include <sys/cmn_err.h>
    #include <sys/ddi.h>
    #include <sys/sunddi.h>
    If I do not add the directives -I. -I/usr/include to the compile line above I get the following error:
    "/usr/include/sys/modctl.h, line 185: major, argument mismatch"
    "/usr/include/sys/cred.h, line 51: sintax error before or at: uint_t"
    But this is because the environment it is taken the /usr/ucbinclude as default include path instead of the "/usr/include". which one should I consider?.
    Thank in advance for your support.
    Looking forward to hearing from you.
    (could you please send to me the answeres to this e-mail:[email protected]??)
    Regards
    Elena

    HI,
    Maybe a file I can edit that says to run the Garmin stuff in 32-bit mode?
    Right or control click the Garmin application (or utility) then click: Get Info
    In the Get Info window under the General tab, if it can be enabled you should see:
    Open in 32-bit mode.
    Activity Monitor (Applications/Utilities) shows all apps running in 64 bit. If it doesn't have 64 bit under Kind on the right, then it's running in 32 bit mode.

  • Unable to compile module for Intel VTUNE with 3.16.4-1 kernel

    I am currently running  3.16.4-1-ARCH #1 and I tried to compile the kernel module for Intel Vtune XE 2013 (r17).

    As the source code points out:

    The missing symbols are expected to be found under /usr/lib/modules/3.16.4-1-ARCH/build/arch/x86/include/asm/fixmap.h, but it seems that they are not present anymore.
    Grepping the headers could not help at all.
    What am I missing here ?

    It looks like the macros:
    VSYSCALL_START
    VSYSCALL_SIZE
    VSYSCALL_END
    VSYSCALL_MAPPED_PAGES
    got dropped after v3.15
    I wonder if I need to downgrade.

  • MaxL Perl Module - 64 Bit

    I'm trying to compile the Perl Module on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine. However, I can only find Makefiles for 32 bit.
    The 11.1.2.1 readme says this issue was fixed in that release:
    Oracle Essbase Release 11.1.2.1 Readme
    I'm working in 11.1.2.3. It appears that all the files I'm trying to user are Win32 files. Does anyone know where to find the 64 bit files or did Oracle screw this up?

        This is lost child.
            Since 9 version never update.
    I am using maxl + other scripting tool . It's works fine because u can use OS variable like native maxl variable .

Also, at the end of the process, the user is informed where he can go looking for what the installation process has been doing. Plus, the script tries to figure out on its own whether to use the debug config or the straight config.

    Hi Michael,
    Thanks for the patch! We'll take a look at that and try to improve the Perl installation in the next release.

  • Geany Trouble: Compiling Perl Scripts (and general Perl questions)

    I'm brand new to Perl because I hear it's one of the best and so far I've found that it is.  I used to program a little C++ here and there and a while ago taught myself python but I'd have to say Perl is better than both of them.  At any rate, that's neither here nor there.  I use Geany and love it, so I didn't see a reason to switch to something new for Perl.  Unfortunately I'm having some trouble with compiling.  Geany flat out refuses to.  I looked around and didn't find anything on here or in the wiki or on the Ubuntu forums other than one person who said to replace the compile command with the execute command.
    So, do I even need to compile my Perl scripts or is there something else I'm missing?
    On a somewhat related note, the same user on the Ubuntu forums said that at the top of the code there should be:
    #!/usr/bin/perl -w
    I'm curious if I need the "-w" or what it even does since as of right now I have
    #!/usr/bin/perl
    and executing the program poses no problems.
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    --Wes

    Well, for one, perl is not a compiled language. You can if you want to, but it gains you few benefits. Google for "perl compiler" if you really must.
    As for the second, do you know how the shebang line works in unix, and do you know what the -w option does for perl? The answer should reveal itself to you.
    Make sure you "use strict;", it will catch many errors.

  • Trouble building kernel module for sensor support

    Hi, I'm new here but have been using Arch for a while.  Recently, I decided to install Arch on an old laptop (Toshiba A70) and have managed to work out most of the kinks to where it runs nicely.  Unfortunately, ACPI support is spotty and the /sys/class/thermal directory gives me only cooling_device0.  I installed the lm-sensors package and ran sensors-detect, which yielded no results.  Although the laptop runs smoothly otherwise, I would like to know the CPU's temp so that I would be able to set up a fan control scheme and CPU scaling (so far it's stuck at the lowest frequency, and that's kind of a big deal for me since the laptop runs on an archaic mobile P4 chip).
    Sorry for the story but I felt some context was necessary.  I did manage to find a kernel module that would connect those sensors to ACPI for me (http://sourceforge.net/projects/omnibook/), however I'm having trouble building it on the latest kernel.  Here is the output from running make:

  • Essbase.pm module for Perl and MaxL

    Is there a way of downloading the ready Essbase.pm module for Perl without having to fight with all these Makefile.pl, nmake.exebut just download it from some repositowy and install into perl using ppm.batI have Win2k, Perl 5.6.1.638, Essbase 6.5.4 and I don't have Microsoft Visual C++ compilerWhy there is no simple instruction like plug'n'play for this Essbase.pm module?

    I originally followed this tutorial http://www.interaktion.info/2008/getting-drupal-and-gd-library-2-working-on-mac- os-x-105-leopard/
    I never got any errors, in fact, it reported it installed correctly, but in my phpinfo page, no gd section shows up.
    I looked deeper into this and found your post about the libpng. I went to the libpng homepage and followed a link to here http://ethan.tira-thompson.com/Mac%20OS%20X%20Ports.html and downloaded the libjpeg-libpng universal dmg. Seeing as how im on leopard on a g5 ppc this seemed like a good one to use.
    I ran the installer, it reported it installed ok, got no errors, restarted apache2 and ... nothing, no gd on the phpinfo page.
    That's a very different set-up. Do you have libpng in /usr/X11R6/lib? Were you seeing the same error as the OP in this thread? Your set-up is using libpng from X11R6 - not local. But unless you're seeing the same error, there's no reason to think updating libpng will fix the problem.
    What specific errors do you get? Look at your web-server logs, for example.
