Trouble connecting Zen V Plus (4

I've been having trouble connecting my Zen V Plus to the computer. When I connect it I manage to transfer maybe 0-20 songs if I'm quick (I'm using WMP .0.572.545), but then everything freezes. I have to plug out the player before the computer and the player starts responding. If i reconnect it quickly I manage to transfer 0-20 additional songs.
The player's firmware is .0.03e, and I've got Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2 installed. I've tried using both WMP and MediaSource, but I have the same problem. I've even tried formatting the hd and installing a fresh XP Pro (with SP2), but I get the same result.
Does anyone have an idea of what I can do?
Can this be an error with the player?
Is this a good enough reason for me to get a new player?

I have the same product and hooked the player up before download, and now my computer won't recognize it being pluged in, how do i fix it, anybody?

  • Trouble connecting ZEN

Hey everyone. I need some help. I have known many people with this problem but it has never been me until now. Windows will not install the drivers to run the MP3 player. What does this mean? Well...windows certainly **bleep** knows its a Creative Zen...it just wont install anything for it.
When I plug in the zen I get bubble message saying "Creative Zen". So Windows knows its there. But then the driver dialogue box pops up. There are no drivers for this thing!!! And when I do an automated search to find the drivers nothing is found.
The Zen recovery tool ALSO detects the zen...however once the firmware update runs it tells me that my zen is not connected.
My computer is completely up to date, fresh format, with service pack 3.
Also I have been reading about WMP causing problems. Never had it installed. Have been running WMP 0.
    PLEASE HELP!
    thank you.

  • Connect hp photosmart plus b209 printer to verizon fios wireless router

Having trouble connecting HP Photosmart Plus B209 printer to verizon fios wireless router in order to access printer via home wireless network.  The WPS (push button) connection option is not available on the current software version of router (VERIZON M1424WR rev.1  (Mfg. ACTIONTEC)).  So, need to know how to connect via the PIN option.
Normally, to connect a wireless device (like this HP printer) to the network, the device would input the router's security pin (e.g. WEP key).  But I can't figure out how to input the router's WEP key via the printers face screen.  And, after talking to Verizon, there is no provision to enter the printer's pin within the router's control setup online.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I have one , but then i want connect?it, computer see zen v plus but ZEN V Series Media Explorer say that mp3 plaeyr isn't conected . What i have to do?

Hey guys, I got a few suggestions. First try rolling back to WMP0 if you have ,? and then reinstall . If this doesn't work, try reinstalling the drivers. And finally, check my post history?for a thread entitled "For those having trouble getting their Zens to be recognized". You may find better information there.

  • Zen V Plus and USB Connect

Hello everyone. First off... I love the look, feel, and design of the Zen V plus. I'm hoping to eventually get to compliment the actual functionality of it. It has been a long day of hurry up and wait since I sped off to Circuit City early this afternoon for the Zen V plus. I'm just DYING to test it out, but it seems there is a major stumbling block. Let me give you a step by step run down of what has gone on since I can't seem to find a solution in the other posts I've read:
I put the installation disc and successfully installed the software on it.
After installation, I connected the zen v plus to the USB port and it wasn't long before I saw the battery symbol, complete with lightning bolt to show that it was charging. I also noticed that it was "docked", and I saw the USB symbol on the screen of the mp3 player. The button lights were glowing on and off. No problems yet...
I checked to see if you could sync songs while it charged - and it didn't recognize the player.
Around the 4 hour later mark, it DID recognize the player, and allowed me to rip and sync my Maroon 5 CD. I decided to leave and let it charge fully before making any other attempts.
I come home, and the mp3 player has been charging for approximately 6.5 hours. The lights are no longer flashing, and it has appeared to shut off, which I assumed meant it was done charging.
I unplug - attempt to turn on - and nothing. It's dead. Now...it's not being recognized at all.
I'm not good with electronics really, and never pretended to be, but something tells me the USB connection is weird. My brother owns a PSP - and sometimes it doesn't want to read *his* device either. I'm wondering if perhaps it did recognize the device long enough to give me confidence that it was charging, and then lost the usb connection at some point. (It's highly doubtful that my pc went into any sort of sleep/power save mode because there is almost always someone on the computer here.)
For what it's worth, I am using WMP 0, Windows XP (service pack 2), and have tried ALL usb ports (front and back) to get some juice into this thing. The computer just won't recognize it now. I plug it in and hit the power button, and it won't show me so much as a sign of life.
    Any suggestions

I had this exact same problem. you should see a little plug on the battery when its connected to the computer, you are seeing a lightning bolt because your V Plus has an old Firmware version on it. Head to the Support->Downloads section and download the latest (..03 I think). This fixed most of the problems I was having.

  • Zen V Plus keeps connecting and then disconnecting to the computer. HEL

So when I plug in my Zen V Plus into the computer using the USB cable, it pops up in windows XP as usual, but then 2 seconds later it disconects. I move it to the side and it re-connects, then 2 seconds later it disconects again. Can anyone tell me what's going on with my Zen??Thank you !!

I cannot guarantee that this is the answer to your question (I'm not an electrical engineer), but the same thing happened when I tried once to charge my Zen V Plus at work. But after reading this forum for a while, I came to the conclusion that the Zen waits for a specific signal from the USB port that says it's okay to charge it. If it doesn't get the signal, it goes to "sleep" for a while, then wakes up to check again. If still no "okay" signal is received, it cycles back and forth between sleeping and checking. That's why the screen lights up, then goes off for a while, then lights up again.
This is a GOOD thing I guess because it means I don't have to do the "disconnect USB dri've" thing since the Zen knows when it's receiving power.
At home I don't experience this behavior.

  • Zen V Plus USB connect

    Hi fellows
I have problems with my Creative Zen V Plus 2 GB
After installing all the software included in the CD, i plug my Zen in the USB port but my PC doesn?t recognize it, a message appears: A device is connected in a 6 ports USB root hub not compatible with high speed" (well, it'ss a translation, because English isn?t my nati've language) but i don?t have any usb hub, so my Zen appears like not connected, so i can't transfer music, or configure it.
I even tried to modify the system?s registry but it stills not working.
I run W XP Home Edition, and WMP 0.
Thank you very much for your help

Hey Guys,Here is a link to instructions on how How to obtain and to install USB 2.0 drivers in Windows XP Service Pack . http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q329632?Win2000 and later have the capability to support USB 2.0, but USB 2.0 was released after XP was release, so there weren't any drivers installed before Windows XP service pack 2. Make sure you've installed all your windows updates including service pack 2. You can check if you have SP2 by right-clicking on my computer and choosing "properties", it will say on the general tab. Also the way to tell if you have USB 2.0 drivers installed is to right-click on my choose "Manage", then choose "device manager" look down to "uni'versal serial Bus controllers" and click on the + . This will expand the USB devices. Look for the word "enchanced" (USB enhanced host controller). If you see it, then you have USB 2.0 support. If not, use the link above and get the drivers. Hope this helps!?JT

  • Zen V plus 1gb trouble!

    Hi all,
My daughter has a Zen V plus gb. When I attach it to the Pc it recognises it, but there seems to be no screen. The battery charge icon does not appear, although the blue led back light glows on and off as if it is charging. When disconnected from the pc the led light will stay on for a few seconds and then go off again and it wont play any music! Any ideas? It is over a year old now :smileyindifferent:

    Hello Mariaday_78,
Leave the ZEN V plus connected on your computer (preferrably using the rear USB port) for a couple of hours and do a reset while connected. Reset hole is located on the left side of the player. Hope this hel

  • Zen Nano Plus is connected but not reconi

I gave my wife a Creative Zen Nan Plus for Christmas and have spent many hours try to load it up. I connect it to the USB port and it connects to my computer, I get notification that it's connect via the safely remove hardware icon in the system tray. When I go to stop it the system just hangs and I need to unplug it to bring things back. If I leave it connected for a long time it will sometimes show up in windows explorer as a dri've but I still can't access it, if I try the system locks up until I unplug it.
I've tried everything that Creative suggests but still can't get it to work. I even plugged it into my work laptop and was able to communicate via Windows Media.
I have a Sony storage media and it works fine. I also have a scanner, digital camera and printer all that work fine with my USB ports.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    GCA
P.S., I've tried everything I can find on the help and forums and there appears to be nothing quite like this.

    Both computers are running XP.
The laptop is from work and is running XP Pro. lt's locked down by IT so I didn't install the ZEN software. Windows Media found it okay!
The other computer is my personal computer running XP Home. I'm thinking maybe there's a conflict with Norton and checking that out now.... what to I have to loose!
My next step is to take it back to Best Buy and purchase something else!!

  • Can I connect my Zen V Plus to a PC without MediaSour

I would like to connect my Zen V Plus to my computer at work but I'm not allowed to install any "unapproved" software, and Creative MediaSource definitely falls under the "unapproved" category. Is there any way to access the player through the USB port with standard Windows drivers?

I'm using window's media player to sync the videos onto it. should i change the file type or what? Please help.

  • Zen Nano Plus Connection Probl

(2)Zen Nano Pluses. Both using firmware .0.03. One Red, one Black (Click and Clack always want to know what color car they are diagnosing...)
    (2) Computers, both XP SP2 with all updates; one called Dad's, one called W's.
One Zen (for ID, the red one) has been used on Dad's computer without issues for about 3 weeks.
One Zen, new and color Black, works on Dad's computer, but not on W's computer. W's computer will not properly recognize either the new Nano (the black one) or mine (the Red one), in either Creative MEdia SOurce, or Zen Explorer, or Windows explorer.
First, I have read the FAQ's. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Nano software. When I use PB's check odd things appear:
    PB's check:
With your player connected and View, Devices by Connection selected in Device Manager navigate through as follows:
Advanced Config and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
    ->Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System
    -->PCI Bus
You should then see a series of USB Host Controllers that you will have to click through in turn to find the one your player is connected to.
Underneath each controller should be a USB Hub, and then devices are listed beneath the hubs.
For my N200 I have USB Mass Storage Device, Creative MuVo N200 USB Device then Generic Volume.
Your entry should be similar but with Zen Nano Plus instead of N200.
While you're there, right-click on the entry for the hub attached to your player and select Properties. On the Power tab it will show how much current the port can supply and in the Attached Devices list it will show how much power the player needs. In my case the hub supplies 500mA and the player needs 00mA.
    PB
What appears on Dad's computer, with either Nano, is USB Enhanced Host Controler, USB Root Hub, Generic USB Hub, USB Mass Storage Device, Creative Zen Nano Plus USB Device, Generic Volume. Again, either Nano works on Dad's computer.
On W's computer, after just having reinstalled the new mass driver, it is USB2 Enhanced Host Controller, USB Root Hub, USB Mass Storage Device, Disk Dri've. On restart from that, it reads Creative Nano Plus USB Device, with no "volume" underneath it, and the oddball icon is not there. I think the oddball icon is associated with the "Disk Dri've". Once it read under Creative ZEn Nano Plus, "Unknown Device". Also, when I attach a Nano to W's computer, it first seems to see the Nano in the New Device Found message, THEN while it is still attached, it says in another New DEvice Found mesage that it has found a Disk Dri've. It also shows some oddball icon I can't decipher, right next to the "safely remove Hardware" icon. The oddball icon does not appear on Dad's computer.
    Any ideas?

    NEWS!!!
Actually, we have 3 Zen Nano Pluses. Two (the black and the red) have .0.03 firmware. I have never connected the black or the red to W's computer and have it connect properly. In fact, I had just tried (again) to connect the black, it failed, I re-booted. Then, I connected the blue, with the old firmware, and it CONNECTED. I could see it in WIndows explorer as dri've F:, which never happened with either the red or the black with .0.03 firmware.
    So, now what?

  • Zen Nano Plus connection problems - SOLVED (1/2/06)

I recently bought the Nano Plus. On first installation everything worked fine. I decided to upgrade to the latest drivers and firmware via downloads from the Creative site. At some point during the firmware upgrade, everything seemed to hang. Eventually I had to halt the process, disconnect the player and reboot.
When I plugged the player back in, it is detected as a USB Mass Storage Device, but Windows Explorer and the Zen Nano Plus Media Explorer both claim that the device is not connected.
Here's what I have done so far:
)Uninstalled all drivers and Creative software, rebooted, reinstalled drivers/software, rebooted. When plugging the player in, a brief window pops up saying Zen Nano Plus has been detected. This is followed by USB Mass Storage Device being detected (this window stays up a lot longer, sometimes more than 5-0 minutes before disappearing).
2)Another uninstall/reinstall, but this time with a registry cleanup in between. Same result.
3)Tried installing installation cd on partner's laptop and plugging in the player. Absolutely everything works fine. So it's not my player. There must be something I still need to do on my desktop to get everything to work again.
4)Have also tried plugging into every USB outlet on the desktop. No change.
    My system:
    Windows XP (sp 2)
    3.2 GHz
    Intel 865 chipset
    2 GB RAM
My Zen Nano Plus is currently running .0.03 firmware (latest).
On this desktop I am running the latest drivers (Creative Mass Storage Drivers .07.00.250)
When the player is plugged in, device manager shows no problems. Under Disk Dri'ves, Creative Zen Nano Plus USB Device is listed (and says the driver is from Microsoft, 7//0, version 5..2535.0). Under USB, USB Mass Storage Device is listed (and says the driver is from Microsoft, 7//0, version 5..2600.0).
I have tried manually updating these drivers to anything listed in the Creative folders upon installation, but it does not detect anything. When I check the drivers listed on the laptop that works with the player, these same driver details show up.
Any advice would be appreciated. I certainly would hate to only use my partner's laptop every time I want to update my music. I am also frustrated and puzzled as to why my player first worked on my desktop and now doesn't.Message Edited by lcvdw on 0-03-2006 2: AMMessage Edited by lcvdw on 0-03-2006 2:2 AM
