Trouble Downloading PDFs

I'm trying to download a pdf but I keep getting the error message "To view the full contents of this document you need a later version of the PDF viewer" however, I already have the latest version installed (11.0.04).  How can I download this pdf?  thanks

You are trying to view the PDF in a browser that uses its own PDF viewer (like Firefox, Chrome), and not the Adobe Reader plugin.
Either use a browser that uses the Reader plugin, or configure your browser to use the Reader plugin: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html

  • I am having trouble downloading PDF files to my new iPad air. Works fine on my other iPads with iOS7 and iOS 5.

My other iPads easily download PDF files but my new iPad air is stumbling and the browser shuts down.

    Hi John
iTunes Support wasn't of any use to me.
I have also been having another problem - with BBC iPlayer and other video streaming not working due to insufficient bandwidth, despite my overall download speed being consistently around 50Gb.  This is also affecting AppleTV downloads
I am using Virgin Media as my ISP, and was wondering whether you do as well.  This might be the common thread.

  • Having trouble downloading PDF file; blue arrow drops down after click on it, but goes nowhere

I am signed in on a bank account I have used in the past; trying to download a pdf which is a copy of my accounts, but cannot find out where pdf went.

    Hello there,
To change the download folder for Firefox only:
    1. Open a new tab to about:config (type about:config in the Awesomebar and tap the go arrow or tap Enter)
    2. In the search box, type down and tap Enter
    3. Scroll down to browser.download.folderList and tap Modify, then change the value from 1 to 2 (from default always to last used folder). The change should appear after a few seconds.
    4. Scroll back up and tap the "Add a New Setting" button
    5. String is the correct type, so OK that
    6. The name of the preference should be browser.download.dir (this stores the last used directory)
    7. The value should be /sdcard/ followed by the folder name you want to use, for example, /sdcard/FxDown
If you switch back to your other tab and download something, it should go to the new folder.

  • Downloading pdf files in Safari

Lately I'm having trouble downloading pdf files that are open in the Safari window. I'm using the latest versions of Safari Adobe Reader on an IMac OSX 10.6.8. I used to download them simply with "command s", now it says "the document ... cannot be exported".
    thanks for any help,

Sorry, no, this did not help. I cannot recommend doing this. As a result, pdfs are no longer displayed at all in Safari!!
I had found a different solution, though, in the meantime. In the dark grey toolbar that appears at the bottom of a pdf window in Safari once you mouse over the spot, there is this adobe symbol which looks like a windmill. if you click on it, the adobe reader toolbars appear at the top of the browser window. if you click THAT save button there, it works just fine.

  • Cant download pdf

Using Windows 7, 64-bit OS and Firefox (and IE8) has trouble downloading PDF files with certain, bot not all, websites. Have refreshed installation of Firefox and Acrobat 9 Pro without benefit - any suggestions welcome

Personally, I've not heard of this but maybe WP doesn't handle long names as well as Windows - what actually happens when you try? Is there an error message or does the download just fail silently?

  • I am having trouble with PDF 8.1 reader.  Tried to download upgrade to 10.1 reader.  Rec'd error mes

I am having trouble with PDF 8.1 reader.  Tried to download upgrade to 10.1 reader.  Rec'd error message. Message said Adobe 8.1 needed to be updated by this set-up?   Isn't this part of download upgrade process??   How can I straighten this out?

It is always better to uninstall the older version when skipping versions.  What is your operating system?

  • Trouble initializing downloaded PDF file cannot use scroll bar

At times PDF download freezes in the process of initializing. Also scoll bar is inoperable in downloaded PDF file in Reader.

Could you provide more information about your problem?
What is the version of your Adobe Reader?
Is your problem about (a) taking too long to download a PDF document from somewhere and display it in Adobe Reader only for the first time or (b) taking too long to open a PDF document every time?
Does the problem happen with all PDF documents that you have or a particular PDF document?

  • I am having trouble with pdf files  continuously get damaged file message when try to open downloaded pdf with adobe reader

Cannot open downloaded pdf's with adobe reader. Have latest version of adobe program  continuously get damaged file message.  Anybody else having this problem?   Using imac with osx10.7.1 (latest lion)

I am having the exact same problem. This is very disturbing.
Lately I have been deluged with adobe update dialogues. I don't know whether this is real or some kind of bugus malware phenomenon.
Imagine my surprise when I looked here in the forum and I am not alone.
Kaufmann's remark that we shouldn't be using adobe reader doesn't explain why it is malfunctioning like this. I have been using the reader on Mac  OS for years, and I don't get what's happening now.
Does anyone realy know what is going on?

  • Can no longer download PDFs, advice & suggestions requested.

I work in an office with a Mac that has OS X 10.4.11 (400 MHZ Power PC G4).  I have Acrobat Standard version 7.1.3, which is horribly outdated, but finances only allow for free upgrades.
A month or so ago I was no longer able to download PDF files, and at times my work requires me to download various government forms. I had Adobe Acrobat Standard 7.1.1 when the trouble started, but was able to download free upgrades to the present Acrobat 7.1.3.
My favorite browser is Safari 4.0.3, and when I try to download a PDF in Safari I get a nearly blank screen, but in the upper left hand corner is a small blue box with a question mark inside.
A few months ago I downloaded Firefox 3.5.3, and for a time that worked well, but now when I open Firefox and attempt to download PDF files I get a blank screen, and up in the gray bar area (where saved websites are shown) I get what appears to be the web address for the particular PDF file, but the download isn't there.
This computer also has Internet Explorer 5.2.3, and I believe higher upgrades aren't available for Macs. I started working here in 2005, and even back then Explorer didn't work well, it seemed to only half-open a website. (My terminology is bad, I don't know how to say technical things properly.) For years I've been ignoring Explorer, but just to see what would happen, today I opened Internet Explorer 5.2.3, attempted to download a PDF form, and it more or less worked. I went to the IRS website, downloaded a 1040 form, and was able to fill in the blanks. I then went to our state Revenue website, was able to download tax forms, but wasn't able to fill in the blanks. I don't like Internet Explorer, but if it was possible to get a free upgrade that would work with Macs I'd download it, just to have access to needed PDF forms.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to once again have the ability to download PDFs while using Safari or Firefox? I posted a question on a Safari discussion forum, but didn't get any answers. I've spend the  last couple of weeks checking out this Adobe site, found several questions about PDF downloading problems, but haven't come across an answer.
Anyone who can offer help will have my undying gratitude.

    Dear Graffiti,
I just had a chance to play around with the control>click suggestion. When I'm in Safari and get my "blue question mark in a box" I can control>click the question mark, choose "save image to the Desktop" from the drop down menu, and get the form to download. Unfortunately the fill-in form is in Preview, and not Adobe, so I can see the form and print it out, but I can't fill in the blanks.
When I did control>click on the form name at the website, instead of getting my blue question mark I got a different drop down menu. One option was "download linked file". That seemed like a possibility, so I clicked that. I got a message that went something like this "view.asp.html is an application. Are you sure you want to open an application?" (or maybe it was create an application) Anyway, I didn't want to mess around with applications for each PDF file I try to open, so I canceled that.
I tried control>click in Firefox and in Internet Explorer, and discovered that the reason why Explorer had been sort-of working before is because it had been opening the forms in Preview when I was just clicking.
So control>click gives me different options, but I'm not able to figure out how to download the PDFs into Adobe Acrobat, which is how it used to work.

  • How do I download PDF files from Safari 5.0.5?

I am unable to open PDF files. All I get is a blank black screen. I now download PDFs into my computer from the internet (with mixed success), which is several steps more than has ever taken me in the past.
Since finding this problem I have updated the Adobe Reader and run system updates today, to no avail.
Adobe reports that there is a compatibility issue between Safari 5.1 and Adobe Reader. They offer several solutions none of which has worked for me.
(http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/safari-5-1-incompatible-reader.html). Is updating Safari going to help me, or are there other solutions?

    Hi..
    Go to    HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Move the Adobe PDF browser plugin from the Internet Plug-Ins folder to the Trash..
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If you have trouble finding that file..
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
    Click Go

  • Question: Trouble linking PDF in Muse

Hi. I purchased a Adobe Creative Cloud subscription for Christmas and have since been learning how to use Muse. Today, I was working on a website for a client that includes a downloadable PDF of the clients brochure. Everything works fine except that when you click the PDF link it opens the clients primary website, http://www.ipgauto.com, instead of downloading the PDF. I have carefully checked to make sure I followed the instructions in the tutorial, but to no avail. Also, I am having the same trouble with one of the text hyperlinks. I linked it to ipgrewards.com but when I click on it it opens ipgauto.com. I have broken and reapplied the link several times, but with no different result. My webBasics temporary URL is http://ipgtemp03.businesscatalyst.com/index.html. Any suggestions?

You have different links assigned for clicking on the text and for clicking on the graphic.  Clicking on the text opens a PDF. Clicking on the graphic opens a web page/
Just a comment. Ya may want to move the graphic and text to the right a bit.

  • Downloading PDF from internet

I would like to download a PDF file from the Internet
    "sometimes"
I get a message in Adobe Reader as follows
Adobe Reader could not open ____because it is either not a
supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was
sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)
I have downloaded it to my Desktop and tried opening it from the website
    I have Adobe Reader 9.3
this last time someone from the website sent the same PDF file to me in an e-mail and it opened peoperly

    This is the site
    http://www.hanp.net/volumes/current
there is a highlighted area that indicates

I had contacted someone associated with the website above and he indicated he had no trouble opening the PDF file on the site.  He sent it to me in an email attachment, and I was able to open it in Adobe without a problem
Thank you for looking into it for me

  • I'm having trouble opening pdf's on my Samsung Note tablet.

I'm having trouble opening pdf files on my Samsung note tablet. Before I encountered this isssue, a window would pop up with Adobe  as an option everytime I downloaded a pdf files, however now I'm only given polaris office as an option to open pdf's. I've tried changing the settings but have had no success. I'd appreciate any help or advice.

    Hi,
Do you have Adobe Reader installed on your device? You can check it under Settings-->Apps. If Adobe Reader is installed on your device and still the pdfs open in some other app, then you might have chosen that app to be the default app for always opening pdfs. You can clear the defaults for that application. Just go to Settings-->App--->Polaris(or any other app where the files open)--->Clear Defaults. Next time you try to open a pdf, you will be presented with the options again. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you still face some issues.
    Thanks.
