Trouble for opening database

Hi,
I installed ora cle 10g database on windows XP.Iopened database and perform some operations two days. But now iam facing trouble to start my database and per form recovery.
while start up Iam getting the following info.
Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance
ORA-28000: the account is locked (DBD ERROR: OCISessionBegin.)

Hi,
Can you login to the database using any other user which has a dba privilege?
If yes login through that user and unlock the user which is getting this error.
With which user are you trying to access OEM?
If everything fails for you
sqlplus / as sysdba
alter user <userid> account unlock;Regards

  • Cannot open database "ReportServer" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'USER LOGON'

I want to grant permissions to all domain users to view reports on our Report Server. Domain users are able to access our Report Server URL and folder, but when they click on a report item they get an error message:
"Cannot open database "ReportServer" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'USER LOGON'"
I'm using windows authentication and configured the local service account in SSReportS Config Manager as the credentials to connect to the Report Server DB.
Can someone please help how I should properly do this step by step to give all domain users permissions to view a report in SSRS?
    Thanks much! - Rookie DBA

    Hi IWAR,
The error message "Cannot open database "ReportServer" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'USER LOGON'" means the user 'USER LOGON' does not have permissions to access the "ReportServer" database.
To fix this issue, please verify that the user has a valid database user login. For more details, please refer to the following steps.
In SQL Server Management Studio, open Object Explorer and expand the Databases folder.
Expand the database in which to create the new database user.
Right-click the Security folder, point to New, and then click User.
On the General page, enter a name for the new user in the User name box.
In the Login name box, enter the name of a SQL Server login to map to the database user.
    Click OK.

what is ....? Is the path to your main Aperture library printed there, or is Aperture trying to open a different location? If it is a different location, launch Aperture on your correct library, by double clicking the library.

    Hi,
I would like to suggest you reset the SDK account password (in this case, it seems like that the account is 'scomsdk'). And change the password for the account in service configuration.

  • Open database for product specifications

    Hi forum
I was wondering if there is an open database available with device specifications for Cisco appliances?
I'm currently working on a project where I'm collecting as much information about our network appliances  as possible.
So, if I could get my hands on a database where I can look up specifications or an API of some kind, that would make my job a lot easier.
    Kind regards
    Thomas

    Hi Harpal,
You can have data source as source of your transformation for Open Hub Destination.
Just check if your data source is active in the system or not.

  • Cannot open database " " requested by the login. The login failed for user " "

Am noticing application event log error that states as the title Cannot open database "ReportingService_4a1e5b9cd6364e8389ed0af69d2628f5_Alerting" requested by the login. The login failed for user "domain\user"
I think a couple weeks ago while troubleshooting something for a new backup appliance we were installing a password was changed on the user that it is displaying...it seems that this has happened before and I had to go into SQL Server Management studio to
update the password but I'm not sure where it is I need to do this.
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.

DOMAIN\User would refer to a domain user account, and SQL does not store passwords for those accounts. It does store passwords for SQL users. Can you validate the type of account and what level of access it has to that db?

report > Schedule > Database Logon > set password
or tick "Use same database logon as when report is run" in Default Settings > Database Configuration.
But when I am click on View for the report still it is promting for the database loging name and password.
is there any other settings required for this.

  • Trouble using asm instance for new database

I have an asm instance and am trying to create a new database that will use the asm storage. I'm using dbca to create the new database. This is a test system on windows so I'm using the asmtool -create flatfiles for disks with the asmallow_only_raw_disks parameter set to false.
If I have #SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS) commented out in my sqlnet.ora, then I can't get into asmcmd:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges (DBD ERROR: OCISessionBegin)
and dbca won't create the new database that uses asm because the dbca gets the same 01031 error when trying to create the control files for that database.
If I have SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS) NOT commented out, the I can get into asmcmd, but I can't startup the databases using sys, even though I am sitting at the server,
AND, dbca won't create the new database that uses asm becuase the dbca can't start the instance
    credential retrieval failure.
I'm in a catch 22. Something is not right with my system but I just can't seem to figure out what it is.
The asm instance does have a password file.

I let the dbca create scripts and am currently walking through the scripts. I think it's my asm database that is actually creating the problem. I did the orapwd and oradim manually and can startup nomount the instance just fine. The create database statement fails on creating the controlfile but it's saying it already exists. I suspected the dbca form wasn't giving me all the errors like it should.
Thanks for your suggestion on the password file.

You will be prompted for the value of ORACLE_SID (one of the databases). It looks like this:
    oracle:orcl$ . oraenv
    ORACLE_SID = [orcl] ? dwsbx
The Oracle base for ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1 is /u01/app/oracle
    oracle:dwsbx$
HIGHLY APPRECIATED U R IMP Tips!!!!!
But it’s very difficult to remember & manually enter oracle SID & HOME details every time after run (. Oraenv)
.profile creation is simple method and no need to remember SID & HOME details.(for multiple DB in one server)You don't have to "remember & manually enter oracle SID & HOME details every time after run " oraenv sets all those details for you. All you have to remember is the name of the instance you want to work with. The same thing you'd have to remember if you if you created (as you suggested) three different "profiles" - actually three different shell scripts, each to set the environment for a specific instance.
Yes, I do place "default" settings in .bash_profile. But with multiple databases the "default" settings are often not going to be what you need so you'll still have to run some process to change them. Either a home-grown script or oraenv. And either way you will have to remember the names of the instances you have to chose from. So in general I see no advantage of reinventing the wheel.

He is using different port number for different instanceWhich accomplishes absolutely nothing except extra configuration headaches. It accomplishes nothing for security. It accomplishes nothing for availability.
And also it is very simple method to manage three different DB in three different listener entry (for DB maintenance activity.)Not as easy as managing one default listener. By far the most frequent listener configuration issue I see on this forum is when people try to configure one listener per database.
Single listener in multiple instance (if listener down all DB connection will affect)And why would the listener be down? I've been working full time with Oracle since version 7.3 - somewhere around 1995. I've NEVER seen a listener fall over and die. I have seen many people on this forum whose db connections failed because they were trying (unsucessfully) to configure multiple listeners.
All of my servers are running multiple databases. I have one test server that is running close to a dozen separate databases. One listener. I've NEVER had a situation where I thought to myself, "Gee, it would really help if I had created a separate server for each database"

  • Workaround for opening GB 2.0.1 iOS in LP9?

I have a compatibility issue between the latest GB for iOS and Logic Pro 9 on the Mac. LP 9 will not open the latest version of GB iOS. I cannot download LP 10 bc my 2007 MP is 32-bit EFI. I'm not comfortable w/ the hacks for getting Mavericks, etc. as I'm not computer savvy. I'm a songwriter who wants to write and record as simply as possible. My current set-up runs like a tank (except this one "little" compatibility issue!). GB iOS is great for getting ideas down when on the road. Then I flesh things out on the Mac in LP and add the audio tracks there as well.
Anyone know a workaround for opening GB 2.0.1 iOS in LP9? I don't want the audio BTW, just the MIDI. I can find the audio by "show package contents", etc. but I can't see the MIDI info in the folder. Maybe my OSX won't recognize as I could possibly do this manually? When I unpack a pre-2.0.1 GB file on the Mac, I can see both the audio and the MIDI, but not on the new GB ".band" file. Any thoughts or ideas are welcomed. Thank you!

    Hi Marian,
Despite the Default Mappings table in the Oracle9i JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference, I have found that the only reliable mapping between any database table column with the NUMBER datatype (regardless of scale and/or precision) always maps correctly to the "java.math.BigDecimal" class.
Personally, this mapping has not caused me any troubles -- and I have never had a requirement to use a different mapping. Is there some reason why you have to use "Float"?
Remember, a PL/SQL parameter of type NUMBER must not have any scale or precision, so the only suitable java class is "java.math.BigDecimal". So I wouldn't call it a "bug", but of-course you are free to think what you want :-)
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Data Migration for Open Purchase Order

    Hi, All,
Is there anyone know how to Count the volume for Open Purchase Order. What's the normal strategy for the Data Migration and Cut-over stage?
My client want to know how many Open Purchase Order in the legacy system and then determine manual or automatic data migration. If manual, how to do? If automatic, how to do? Because all materials and vendors, plants are different number. How to track? How to find out to match between new and old?
    Thank you very much

    JC,
Sounds a bit early to be making decisions about the realization phase.  It doesn't sound like you have finished the Blueprinting phase yet, much less the testing phase.
Anyhow, in my experience I typically use LSMW (Legacy system migration workbench) to load MM master data (material masters), Inventory (WIP, RM, FG, etc) Purchasing Master data (Vendors, Purchase Info Records, Source Lists, Quota Arrangements), and Purchasing transactional documents (POs, PurReqs, Scheduling Agreements, etc).  Depending on the complexity and volume of data, it  may be necessary to write custom programs to load the data.  You will find this out during your requirements gathering.
It is uncommon but possible to load all of these data manually.  I have never run across a client that wants to pay a consultant's hourly rate to sit at a terminal to peck away loading master data, so if the client intends to have his own users enter the data manually, the project manager should make provision that there will be qualified TRAINED client employees available for this data entry.  I did help with a portion of a conversion once manually; of Sales Credits, but there were only about 30 SD docs to load.   I did this the evening before go-live day, while I was waiting for some of my LSMW projects to complete in the background.
A good opportunity to 'practice' your data loads is right after you have completed your development and customization, and you have gotten the approval from the client to proceed from the pilot build to the full test environment.  Once you have moved your workbench and customization into the client's test environment, but before integration testing, you can mass load all, or a substantial portion of your conversion data into the qual system.  You can treat it like a dry run for go-live, and fine tune your processes, as well as your LSMW projects.
Yes, it is good practice to generate comparisons between legacy and SAP even if the client doesn't ask for it. For Purchase orders on the SAP side, you could use any of the standard SAP Purchasing reports, such as ME2W, ME2M, ME2C, ME2L, ME2N.  If these reports do not meet the requirements of the client, you could write a query to display the loaded data, or have an ABAPer write a custom report.
You didn't ask, but you should also do comparisons of ALL loaded data - including master data.
It sounds like you are implying that the client wants YOU to extract the legacy data.  For an SAP consultant, this is not very realistic (unless the legacy system is another SAP system).  Most of us do not understand the workings of the myriad legacy systems.  The client is usually expected to produce one or more legacy system technical experts for you to liase with.  You normally negotiate with the technical expert about every facet of of the data migration.  In addition, you will liase with business users, who will help you and the implementation team to logically validate that the final solution (turnkey SAP production system, fully loaded with data) will meet the client's business needs.
Finally, you mentioned how do you track the mapping of master data between legacy and SAP.  There are many ways to do this.  I normally try to get the legacy person do the conversion on his end, eg, when he gives you the load file, you would like to have already translated the master data and inserted the SAP relevant values into the file.  If this is not possible, I usually use MS Access databases to maintain a master map, and I perform the mapping on a PC.  If your data package is small, you can probably get by using MS Excel or similar.

You have the following choices to free up space from
    flash recovery area:
    1. Consider changing your RMAN retention policy.
If you are using dataguard, then consider changing your
    RMAN archivelog deletion policy.
    2. Backup files to tertiary device such as tape using the
    RMAN command BACKUP RECOVERY AREA.
    3. Add disk space and increase the db_recovery_file_dest_size
parameter to reflect the new space.
    4. Delete unncessary files using the RMAN DELETE command.
If an OS command was used to delete files, then use
RMAN CROSSCHECK and DELETE EXPIRED commands.

  • Error while opening database studio in maxdb

    Hi Experts,
I am having maxdb 7.8 and database studio AP MaxDB Database Studio,Version: 7.8.02.21,Build: 021-121-242-175
but when i am tying to open database studio it through
error message " problems opening perspective 'com.sap.sdb.ui.perspectives.mainperspective '
i was though it is coming due to old version of java then i have upgrade with 1.7 but problem is still there.
    so please help me .....
    Thanks
    Naresh KK.

    Hi Naresh,
Basically MAXDB Database studio 7.8 requires JRE 1.6. You can do the following
    Uninstall the Database Studio version.
    1. To uninstall, call the installation manager 7.8 ("Programs -> SAP MaxDB -> Installation Manager").
    2. Choose "Remove MaxDB Installation".
    3. Under "Legacy", select the Database Studio version.
Selecting "Legacy" ensures that you do not select the Database Studio 7.8 that you have just installed for uninstallation.
    4. Choose "Forward" to confirm that you want the system to remove the installation.
Due to the operation of the earlier Database Studio version, some processes may still run (for example, serv.exe). Stop these processes and continue with the 7.8 installation.
And then install JRE 1.6. Then delete the files in location c:\Users\<User>\sdb\DatabaseStudio (delete files .configuration, .metadata, p2) and then re-install MaxDB database studio.

  • Best practice for opening/closing JDBC conection

I've written a program that accesses a database, and I'd like to know the best practice for opening and closing that connection. For example should I use a try{} finally {} block,
    try
        //load driver
        //create conection
        //create statement object
        //sql statement to execute
        //execute statement
    finally
        //close connection
}Or should I split the code into seperate methods, maybe an init() method that loads the driver and makes the connection and an execute() method that creates the statement and executes it and finally a cleanUp() method that closes the connection.
So, which would be the best way to do this?

    Hallo,
your idea seems OK to me. However, there are a couple of points to consider:
    1. Do you just want to execute one SQL query? Or will your program execute several? If the latter case is possible, then you do not want to close your connection between queries. Opening and closing a connection to a database takes 'a lot of time', relatively speaking. In this case, it is better to save the connection and reuse it every time that you need it.
    2. Do not forget to close the statements and result sets that you create or get back from JDBC. Depending on the database (eg Oracle) that you are using, you can run out of cursors, and your application will stop.
