Trouble getting wireless to work with new D-Link DIR-655 wireless router

I have the Mac Pro with the Leopard operating system. I just recently bought a DLink DIR-655 wireless router to use with my internet. All my PC's can get online just fine, but my Mac is painfully slow and sometimes disconnects altogether. Is there some settings I need to figure out in order to make it work correctly?
Please help

I for one am having constant problems since I returned from a July honeymoon. All was good with a “Draft-N” D-Link router, but since returning I’ve had many, many connection failures WIRED. I have no Airport card in my Mac Pro 8 core. Same setup as when I left and all was well: Cable Modem>D-Link (NOW the sam DIR-655. Thanks, CostCo). CAT 5 to: Mac Pro, HP 2605DN printer, and connected to my hard-wired system to two rooms in my house.
Here’s a big clue for me. When I reboot into a bootable backup drive I haven’t updated since May 30, I seem to have no problems. Also, on the normal boot drive, my MobilMe (ugh) mail account was giving me fits. I deleted and tried to have it automatically fill in the settings as it used to, but now I need to supply all other sorts of info and can’t restore it. One last thing, if it helps. On my normal, badly-working boot drive, the iDisk says “MobilMe” On the older drive I’m on now it says dontruett.
I’d welcome advice. I’m taking a guess that some update I did since May 30 cause this and am ready to clone the working drive back to the main boot drive, losing a bunch of things in the process.
Any thoughts would be most welcome.

  • Connecting a SPA2102 with a D-Link DIR-655

Hi, I'm currently having trouble with getting the internet and voip to work simultaneously. Internet and voip adaptor (SPA2102) work without a router connected, but when I add the router (DIR-655), internet no longer works. The voip telephone still works. I'm just having trouble getting both voip and internet to work.
I have the SPA2102 in front of the a D-Link DIR-655 by the way. Right now, I have the voip adaptor disconnected so I can access internet once again.
I'm still very new to this so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I finally got it to work. I had to change the router's IP and also PPPoe to DHCP.
Thanks again for your help. I truly appreciate it.

  • Cannot get VPN to work with new WRT400N router - wired works

After successfully using VPN with my WRT45G v3 wireless router for years the internet connection suddenly quit working. Called Linksys and they suggested buying support or getting a new router. I bought a WRT400n dual band router.
I have a work laptop that is Windows XP and a personal laptop that is Vista. The wireless network is up and running; both laptops can connect to the internet. The problem is when I try to use my work laptop and VPN to the company network the internet connection on that loptop drops and I have to reboot to reconnect. If I use the ethernet port on the router the VPN works fine.
I can use a limited access version of the VPN software on my personal laptop with no issues (limited due to security restrictions).
I have called linksys support, my ISP support, and company support. My company support suggest that it is a security setting on the Linksys wireless network.
Has anyone run into similar issues? The VPN software is by Juniper Networks  - Network Connect 6.4.0.

Make sure all the Ports required for your VPN software are forwarded on your router...Try to reduce the Security to WEP on your Linksys router...
Also change the MTU Size to 1300 and see if you are able to connect to your VPN...
If nothing works you should reset and then re-configure your router...

  • Having trouble getting CoRD to work with 10.6.8?

I have no trouble using the CoRD Remote Desktop Client with my Lion 10.7.5, but it doesn't want to work on my colleague's Macbook.  She has Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Does CoRD not work with Snow Leopard?  Should I use a different RDC and, if so, which one?
    Thanks!

    It should work:

A lot of open source programs though require the correct version of X11 installed, and the correct Java installed.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3897871- I have not tried Xquartz, but it sounds like it should work if needed.

  • Trouble Getting iPhoto to Work with Bridge

So, I successfully was able to create an alias folder for Bridge to see both the 'Originals' and 'Modified' folders from iPhoto's library. When I edit an image in Bridge (using Camera Raw) I do a "save as" in the same folder I opened it. Then, when I switch back to iPhoto that newly edited image does not appear. Why is that?
    Thanks,

  • Setting up airport express with a d-link dir 655 router on xp

I bought a new router and would like to setup my old AX to use it to stream music. I installed the airport utility which seems to find my device but I can't connect to it - via my router or the airport utility. When I select select manual or continue I get a 60 second or so delay and then it returns to the same screen - "airport utility found an apple wireless device with default settings."
    Wireless Network ebxxxx
    Airport ID: 00:11:xxxxxx
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? My laptop is plugged into the same router that my AX is. I've tried what I believe to be a soft and hard boot with the AX but so far no luck.
    Thanks
    Chris

AS far as I am aware only the devices listed at the top of this page do UPnP
    http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1996&question=UPnP
On some, such as the 624 listed here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93333 (See note 2) it actually doesn't work with a Mac properly.
The pics of the Menus on this page http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-655/iChat.htm suggest it does not have UPnP
The item in the menu "Application Rules" looks like a possible name for Port Triggering (A way of allowing Multiple computers use the same ports)
However it does not seem to be listed in the Port Forward Triggering guide list

  • I have an older NEC MultiSync LCD 1700V monitor. I'm having trouble getting it to work with my MAC BOOK Pro with Mavericks. Is the monitor outdated?

I have an older NEC MultiSync LCD 1700V monitor I used for my MAC Power PC G5 (with the Tower). I am discarding the G% and have tried to connect to the laptop MAC BOOK Pro using the 15 pin dongle for connectivity. I get the screen with the desktop and icons, but I cannot get any applications or folders to come up on the screen. Is the monitor just outdated for the newer softward, or isk there some fix?
    Please advise.

10.9 Mavericks changes the way displays are treated, and the new default is that each display is an independent workspace. This can be put back to the "correct" Extended Desktop way.
Windows in Mavericks reside in a single space by default, so they usually don't span multiple displays. When a window is dragged between displays, it appears translucent on one of the displays to indicate this. After you are done dragging the window, it snaps to one display.
If you need an app window to span multiple displays, deselect the option "Displays have separate Spaces" in the Mission Control pane of System Preferences.

  • 15" G4 PowerBook 1.67 GHz - no Internet access with new D-Link router

I've had the PowerBook for about three years, which worked fine with my Belkin router. I just bought a new D-Link DIR-655 wireless router, and it seems to work fine with my nearly new Intel iMac and my wife's MacBook. In contrast, with the PowerBook, I'm getting a signal (as indicated by the AirPort signal strength indicator), and it accepts my password for the wireless network, but I can't pull up any web pages. The security on the router is set to WPA (Personal).
Any guidance or guesses as to what's going on would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Chris

You should probably check to the log/ or DHCP Client list of the router, to see if your PowerBook getting a DHCP lease. I've had a similar problem, with my AirPort WAP. It turned out that firewall in Leopard wasn't allowing DHCP traffic through, so my Mac never picked up an IP address. You could also check to see if your Mac doesn't have a self assigned IP. This is under the "Advanced"button, "TCP/IP Tab" in Leopard. If it's self assigned, then your MAC isn't picking up an IP address from your router. Check to see if you have a SW firewall enabled on the PowerBook. If so, try turning it off.
    Hope this helps,

Based on what you've posted, your computer does not have the right tuner.   You need a QAM tuner to record locals from FiOS, or a CableCard tuner to record all local and cable channels from FiOS.
QAM tuners to record local channels only
This requires Windows Vista or Windows 7
    Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250
SiliconDust HDHomeRun (info on a sale)
CableCard tuner to record local and cable channels
This requires Windows 7 + one CableCard from Verizon for $3.99/mo
ATI TV Wonder Digital PC CableCard Tuner (records one channel at a time) -- $200-$250 on ebay
Ceton MOCUR tuner (records four channels at a time) -- coming in early 2010 for $400-$600
Make sure your computer has Windows 7 Home Premium (or better) installed.   That's necessary to support CableCard tuners.

My printer is a fairly new all-in-one Brother MFC-7860 DW. It is not listed in the iPad AirPrint printers. Can I get it to work with my new iPad2?

If it's not an Airprint enabled printer, you can not natively through your iPad.  BUT, there are apps you can purchase in the App Store, like Print Central ($9), which is what I use myself and works well for my needs.

  • Getting Zen Xtra to work with new compu

I just bought a new Dell 8400 with a Sound Blaster Audigy card. The computer has Creative Media Source version 2.03.29 installed. I plugged my Zen Xtra into the USB port, and I guesss I just expected it to work (but obviously it doesn't). how do I get the new computer to recognize my mp3 player. I can't locate any of the discs that came with the mp3 player. Are there drivers I can download? I looked through the download section, but I really wasn't sure what I was looking for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    For the Zen Xtra right?
I went to and chose MP3 Players > Zen (Hard Disk Dri've/MicroDri've) > Zen Xtra, then <EM>Get Files</EM>.
The driver was listed there, but you want to download:
    Jukebox Driver version .26.02</LI>
Creative MediaSource Software Update version 2.03.29</LI>
NOMAD JukeBox Type 2 Version .0.03 (English) Web Release</LI>
Creative NOMAD Explorer (Version 3.0.0) (if you want to use Nomad Explorer)</LI>
    You then want to:
    install the driver</LI>
turn the Xtra on and connect to the PC and let the driver install (should be automatic)</LI>
with the Zen still connected to the PC install MediaSource (it needs a Creative product present to validate the install)</LI>
install the Nomad Jukebox Type 2 version (this is required to get MediaSoruce to work with the player)</LI>
If you want, install Nomad Explorer</LI>
That's all you should need to do.

What about when using the "Time Capsule" HD as the external disk, especially when it is connected by ethernet cable? I'm having trouble getting it to work at all. Don't need it to work as anything else, other than a ethernet connected Time Machine backup. Already have a wireless network that works fine so no need to mess with it. We get the internet via cable company and their modem is upstairs and the Time Capsule is downstairs in the basement. The latest error message was about it could not backup as it was already in use (should have written it down before clicking OK and moving on.

    See if this helps...

I have a Mac Mini and I can't get it to work with my Ricoh Aficio MP 161.  Any ideas?

The latest Apple driver support begins with the MP 171.
Here is Ricoh's official driver download page specifically for the Afico MP 161. Note that new drivers for this device were released on Aug 2, and include Lion and Mountain Lion.
Hopefully, this will solve your device issues.
