Trouble synchronizing audio & video

I imported video into FCPX from a VHS tape (using a Canopus box), did some video editing, then imported the AUDIO as a file into ProTools 8 to improve it with some EQ and volume adjustments.  Then bounced the audio file as a WAV file, and into ITunes.  Back to FCPX where I dragged the new improved audio WAV file into my timeline (after muting the original audio).  I see the two files (blue video, green audio) and selected them both (select all), BUT then when I try to choose "Synchronize Clips" it is grayed-out.  And the audio is out of sync by about 3 seconds once you get to the end of the project. I did not shorten it in ProTools, only added a fade in at the top, and fade out at the end.  What am I doing wrong?   Thanks for any advice.

P.S.  I think it might be this problem (sigh)... rather than muting the original audio, I chose "detach audio" and I deleted it, thinking I wouldn't need it anymore, yes, like an idiot!  Now I am trying to re-import the deleted files from the trash, with no luck, because they all appear to be folders instead of files, and FXP is giving me the message that the files are not able to import.  So, if anyone has advice of how to restore the original audio so that I can synchronize and then MUTE the original audio, I think that might work.  Or maybe I'll just have to nudge the improved audio to sync it manually.  Live and learn!

  • I have a clip with synchronized audio. When I trim a section of video it does not trim the audio. How do I trim both video and audio so that the clip remains in sync?

Why is FCPX not allow me to cut both video and audio tracks at the same time?
My separate synchronized audio does not trim when I trim the video. They are connected and synchronized.

Sounds like a different problem than your trim problem in the first post. If your problem is they drift out of sync, we'd need to knoow more about the project and clip properties – including how the audio file you're syncing to was created.

  • Trouble Moving Audio With Video In Timeline

I'm new to Premiere Pro CS3, coming from Final Cut Pro 4.5 and am having trouble finding the following in the Help File:
-When I grab  a clip in the timeline, and try to move it up and over to a different  spot in the timeline, only the video portion moves up.  The Audio  portion stays on the same track and superimposes itself onto other audio  clips as I drag.  In Final Cut Pro, the video rises to a differnet  track and the audio lowers to a differnet track so there's no collisions.  Is ther a way to do this that I'm missing?
    Gracias.

For PrPro CS3, this post should be in THIS forum. I feel that the MOD's will be moving it for you, so you will know where to find it, once they do.
Now, for the Audio issue, what is the channel-count of the Audio Stream? In PrPro, Audio will ONLY go to an Audio Track, that matches the channel-count of the file, i.e. mono only to 1-channel Audio Tracks, stereo to 2-channel Audio Tracks, etc. This ARTICLE goes into more detail.
Now, when one brings a Clip w/ Audio onto the Timeline, from the Project Panel, the Audio will only go to the appropriate Audio Track, but if one does not exist, PrPro will create one of the appropriate channel-count, and it will be located just above the Master.
If one has the Clip on the Timeline, and they move it, its Audio will ONLY go to an Audio Track with the appropriate channel-count. If, for instance, you have a mono Audio Stream (1-channel) and only oen mono (1-channel) Audio Track, that is where it will go. If you need it elsewhere, because the now location already has Audio on that one Track, you just need to create another mono Audio Track.
One can also Lock Tracks, both Audio & Video, to keep the Clips on those Tracks "safe."
Hope that this helps, and good luck,

  • 'error synchronizing audio to midi" trouble with MACBOOK

I cant get logic running smoothly, with only ultrabeat and a few plug ins opened the trouble starts with 'error synchronizing audio to midi"
I get pops and clicks and delays in the sound when i use logic, i also have the random shutdown problem and the cpu whine.
Ive already tried all solutions of this list
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304113
I use an RME Fireface 400, but the trouble also occurs with the onboard soundcard.

Have you tried increasing your audio buffer size within Logic?
Have you installed Pro Apps tool for Logic?
Have you got the latest drivers and firmware installed for your Fireface 400?
It would help if you included in your forum profile the specification of your Mac as well!

  • The big iChat problems. Audio/Video (now completely broken in 10.7.3), the "not-authorized" problem

So, I am running iChat on OS X Lion 10.7.3 on an early-2011 MBP 13'' . These problems have been here for a while, though (I got my comp with 10.7.0). I have AIM/GMail/Yahoo connected..
One problem is the issue of non-authorized people. There is a list of "not authorized" people that I have to scroll past in my "offline" section of iChat buddies before I actually get to the real offline contacts. Big note here: All these people have the address (something)@aol.com. These contacts have come up as a result of my gmail connection. You see, a few months ago Gmail and AIM did this chat unification process where @aol.com contacts can be just added into Gmail for chatting. These @aol.com copies come up asking for an invite when the REAL AIM address person talks to me. The invites leave once I press decline, but then they stay on my list as not authorized. If I delete these "not-authorized" copies, the invites will come up again and the cycle will repeat. It is a nuisance considering how much of these false contacts are on my list.
Second problem is video/audio chat in general. This issue really applies on AIM/Yahoo—there is nothing for Gmail because people usually use the web interface which simply doesn't work with iChat video/audio. If the people used Google talk, the issue written below would probably come up.
See, what happens is that…(now in 10.7.3), video/audio chat is simply broken, simple as that. My contacts always tell me that an error has occurred when trying to accept my video chat invite. It simply doesn't work. They are using AIM desktop in most cases. When it DID used to work (to a very limited extent, I'll say; it was hit or miss earlier pre 10.7.3, now it's just miss), it was just video but NO audio. They could see/hear me, I could only see them. When I did audio chats, they hear me, I..don't hear them (so audio chats were pointless). The only case where this problem doesn't happen is where it's Mac to Mac, iChat to iChat. VERY limited in use of audio/video chat, if you ask me.

    Hi,
If AIM contacts have been added to your Google Buddy List then I would login to Google and remove them from there  (the iGoogle or GoogleMail web pages will show the Chat option)
Whilst they are still in the List then the Authorization request will probably be resent (In this case it is probably being generated by the method Google are using to add the AIM names as iChat only sends it once).
Google/Jabber Video chats is only iChat to iChat and so is Yahoo with iChat 6.
The Yahoo App streams Video which People can be allowed to see and Audio is added in as an Audio Chat.
The connection Process is not the same and iChat/AIM
Jabber and Google use Jingle to Connect (in fact Google's version is not that compatible with other Jabber apps).
This means iChat to the Standalone PC app  or any Web Browser using the Google Video Plug-in (PC or Mac) or to any Jabber app that is using a Google ID (or a Jabber ID) will not work.
On the iChat to AIM on a PC.
This has always been a bit of a hit and miss affair.
Some people have no trouble but other spend ages trying to set things up and never find the solution.
This is the Original Users Tip  (up to about AIM5.9)
A "replacement" for that tip that has not made it across yet.
I have yet to try Video to the Web Login version that is now on offer.
However I would limit the Bandwidth in iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section to 500kbps (possibly try 200kbps for 1-1 chats) as you will not know the interent speed available to the Buddy if they are using the web login.
    Comparisons
When you compare iChat actual functions to what you would like it to do it can appear to be limited.
On the basis that you would want your IM app to be able to have Buddies from other services listed in a Buddy list (combined) or Lists which apps do you know of can do that and Video to some of them ?
Adium and ProteusX can both have Buddies from the major Services ina  Buddy List but don't do Audio or Video.
Yahoo and MSN both allow the other's Buddies in the list but I am not sure about Video or Audio chats
They cannot connect to Jabber or AIM buddies even for text chats.
Jabber does depend on the server you use and whether that does Transports for you to have text chats with other services.
    Instructions for iChat.
Mercury IM is a JAVA version of MSN and still has not got to Audio and Video
    Similar for aMSN
    Gizmo5 and YakforFree both died...
Skype is Cross Platform  but is only 1-1 in Video chat.  (cost extra for 3 and 4 way chats)
Yahoo had dropped support for their Mac version now iChat has the Yahoo option  (you can still download it  - IT being the beta it has been for  years).

  • Still having trouble with audio on Macbook Pro

I had posted a discussion board earlier on this issue. I've been having trouble with audio for certain videos on youtube and basically any website embedded with a video. The audio works for a few seconds that doesn't or it doesn't work at all. My volume is up, not on mute, and the one on the video isn't on mute either. It's funny because I just tried watching a video on Firefox (as opposed to Safari) and it works. Could it possible be something with the settings for safari?

Try restarting your Mac, resetting your router, and resetting your modem. My cable internet has gotten slow at times as well, and when I reset my router everything cleared up.

  • Problem with running example 'Generating Live Audio/Video Data'

    Hello,
Concerning the example 'Generating Live Audio/Video Data', I'm having trouble with the run instructions.
    http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/LiveData.html
How does JMFRegistry know about the location of jmfsample?
How is 'live' resolved as a URL?
2.Register the package prefix for the new data source using JMFRegistry
    - Run JMFRegistry
    - In the Protocol Prefix List section add "jmfsample" and hit Commit.
4.Select File->Open URL and enter "live:"
    Much thanks,
    Ben

I'm getting the following error message: "Could not create player for live"Implies you've either not registered the "live:" protocol prefix in the JMF Registry, or, it couldn't load the class you registered for it...or it might be erroring out inside the actual live protocol, I'm not sure what that would look like, but a System.err.println statement in the constructor of both of those classes might be a good idea.
I added the output of javac (DataSource.class and LiveStream.class) to a directory on the classpath.
C:\Program Files\JMF2.1.1e\lib\jmfsample\media\protocol\liveEh, that looks a little questionable to me. I'm not 100% sure that the JRE will automaticlly descend into the package subdirectories like that, looking for classfiles, for every folder on the path. I am, of course, fully open to the idea that it does and I just never thought about it...but I guess I just thought it only did that for JAR files, not CLASS files. Regardless, I'd recommend:
    1) Make sure you've registered the protocol prefix "live:" correctly in JMF Registry
    2) Try to run it with the 2 compiled class files in the same folder as your project
    3) Try to run it with the 2 compiled class files in the lib directory, if that's on the classpath
    4) Try to run it with the 2 compiled class files installed in the JRE as an extension (google for how to do this because I don't remember off the top of my head)
    5) Reinstall JMF and see if that helps

  • Please, help with Live Audio/Video example from jmf solutions

    Hello,
Im desperate looking for a solution for a particular problem.
Im trying to feed JMF with an AudioInputStream generated via Java Sound, so that I can send it via RTP. The problem is that I dont know how to properly create a DataSource from an InputStream. I know the example Live Audio/Video Data from the jmf solutions focuses on something similar.
The problem is that I dont know exactly how it works, os, the question is, how can I modify that example in order to use it and try to create a proper DataSource from the AudioInputStream, and then try to send it via RTP?
I think that I manage to create a DataSource and pass it to the class AVTransmit2 from the jmf examples, and from that DataSource create a processor, which creates successfully, and then find a corresponding format and try to send it, but when i try to send it or play it I get garbage sound, so Im not really sure whether I create the DataSource correctly or not, as Ive made some changes on the Live Audio/Video Data from the jmf solutions to construct a livestream from the audioinputstream. Actually, I dont understand where in the code does it construct the DataSource from the livestream, from an inputStream, because theres not constructor like this DataSource(InputStream) neither nothing similar.
Please help me as Im getting very stuck with this, I would really appreciate your help,
    thanks for your time, bye.

  • Audio/Video (Adjustments Disabled)

I have a PHOTO that cannot be edited (in the Adjustments window it says Audio/Video (Adjustments Disabled)), everything in edit greyed out. Previews are enabled and all other photos are working fine.
If I duplicate this picture (remember it is not a video please) I get the same problem with the new file.
The image is a TIFF file created from a RAW master. This image is a vital aprt of my business collection but I cannot export the version in any format as the option to alter the export type is also locked and the file simply exports as the tiff file.
Any ideas? I am really stumped with this one and whilst I have seen it before, it was never this important.
    Thanks
    Iain

    Hi léonie
    All badge Icons are standard
The file type is blank, and interstingly the camera and lens info says unknown despite the file's master CR2 raw file showing it.
If I go to edit by photoshop for example, the photoshop option is mssing and Aperture just says edit via external editor whereas with normal working files the photoshop option is there.
The TIFF was generated by Colour efex pro 4. I use this consistently without drama. This is the only file with the issue.
No, the search for the file as audio or video does nto reveal the image in a smart album.
Scary stuff this.... if it happens more often I am in trouble!
    Thanks

  • Yo, troubles with the video feature

so i got the videos in .mpg format and i got quicktime pro 7. i tried to change 'em to .m4v or .mp4 format.
    didn't work.
it would just stop at about 70% no error messages, no nothing, no video.
if converting to .mp4 it wouldn't recognize the video's audio. video conversion would be succesful, but no sound.
i need help. i wanna exploit my ipod's potential in full. i never thought i'd have this much trouble.
    thanks in advance.

QT Pro is based on "frame-to-frame," separate audio/video track technology -- not a single track stream of interspersed audio/video blocks. Use a third party converter for "muxed" formats like MPEG1, MPEG2, VOB, some AVI, AVI MJPEG, etc.

  • Import issues, Audio/video Unsynced

Having major import issues, audio and video won't play in sync. Working with MP4 and MXF on most recent version of Premiere CC. Everything plays fine in quicktime/vlc but goest haywire in premiere. Have been through tech support twice, updated drivers, cleared cache and Premiere still has trouble playing back video/audio in sync. Any idea what's going one? Our company recently switched to adobe for the supposed "ease" it handles different codecs and so far have had nothing but issues? Sorry if this is already addressed in one of the forms, am at my witts end now having lost multiple days trying to troubleshoot premiere.

    Hi Adobe4,
Having major import issues, audio and video won't play in sync. Working with MP4 and MXF on most recent version of Premiere CC.
Sorry for this issue. Tell me, where did these files originate? From a video camera? Do they have a constant frame rate or a variable frame rate?
    Thanks,

  • MSI VOX Audio / Video Sinc problem

    Hi All.
Last week i bought a VOX TV Tuner.  Nice device works well except for what i want it for.
When I try to cpature at Full PAL DVD resolution I get audio / video sinc problems.  The audio is usually ahead of the video.  Half PAL DVD or below  it's fine.
I suspect it is the basic design of the box that is the trouble.  Having the audio feed to the sound card rather than than in the USB2 feed has been a no no ever since the problem was discovered back in the USB 1 days.  USB2 is capable of 400Megbits..
However I contacted another user who has no problems and says there is a patch for Direct x PAL video capture.  Does any one know of this patch or has any one had the same problem as I have??
This device seems so new that there is no info on the net about it..
    TIA.
System :  P4. 2.4 Gig, 512 Meg ram, fast HDs, Direct X 9.0 (have not installed 9.0b yet) Asus Mobo P4Pe.  Matrox Mystique video card. Win 2K SP4

  • Trouble with audio driver HPG60-243CL

    Hello.
A few days ago, I needed to format my notebook (model G60-243CL) and I did everything just like I'm used to do. I reinstaled Windows 7 and after instaling the drivers downloaded from HP drivers page, I had to restart the computer. That's when my troubles began.
Sometimes, when starting up, everything goes on properly until the Windows loading screen, when my computer suddenly restarts again. It doesn't happen everytime and it seems a bit random to me. However, I noticed that when it finally turns on after restarting several times, the audio is a bit odd in every application that involves audio like musics players, videos and games.
On the rare occasions where my notebook manages to start up properly, the audio stays normal.
I already tried formating again, reinstaling the audio drivers and codecs, but nothing seems to work. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Uncle_Sam wrote: I wrote a simple Java application to record audio ..
There is no simple way to record sound in Java, AFAIU.
Uncle_Sam wrote: ...on some mixer and then play it back. ...
Now my problem is that when the headphones are not connected, any audio being played out through the sound card can be recorded through mixers 4 and 6 above. This includes sounds created by the operating system, any audio files being played out etc. However, when I connect my headphones, the audio at the microphones can be recorded through mixers 4 and 5 above but any audio produced by the computer (again, sounds produced by the OS, audio files being played out etc.) cannot be recorded at any mixer. I tried mixer 6 above without success.
Is it not possible to record computer audio when a microphone is connected? If it is, how?
Significant question. Are you interested in getting this code to work for the machine you sit in front of, or is this for 'the general end user'?
I have no general solution for the latter, but for a single machine, installing an 'audio loop-back' (either software or hardware) might be the answer. That is the most intelligent thing I can offer that might help get around this problem.
(Note, also posted as ) [Trouble with audio devices|http://groups.google.com.au/group/comp.lang.java.programmer/browse_frm/thread/9983c6cd3e8204fd/e40278adaa2854cf] on usenet newsgroup comp.lang.java.programmer, and no, I personally do not consider that to be either a cross-post or multi-post (if anyone is interested in my opinion!).

  • Trouble With Audio Coming Out of Sync

I am having trouble with audio sync
I am using .mov files of myself talking however I also record audio of myself talking as well. The audio files record as mp3 however I convert them to aiff files in order to better synch them in FCP
I have an audio sound as an in point in order to better sync them and the syncing is perfect when i start.
My files are about an hour and a half long and 20 minutes or so the audio starts to come out of sync and my mouth becomes a half second or so behind the audio. I record this audio live so there is no delay between my speaking and my recording voice but the longer the video goes the more out of sync I become.
My syncing method that I use is "Merge Clips" at the in points.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

All sorts of things you can do.
Easiest fix is just to run down your timeline and every few minutes snip the audio and move it back into sync.
    Now after that;""
Qe have no idea what your process was. We assume you're editing in Final Cut. How did you import your footage? What format is it in the browser?
what are the settings of your timeline? Look at the sequence settings.
You know that you can plug audio from
    mic into a Zi8?
You need to get rid of the mixer hum. Likely ac electrical
interference , a ground fault, but who knows.

  • Audio/Video Applet

    Hi,
I' m starting with JMF and i' d like to develop an Audio/Video applet with JFM which seems to be the best solution for my project.
My project must capture the Audio/Video device and display the video in an applet. It must work via the Internet.
I have installed the JMF in my machine and i' m working with jdk1.1.
    I have tried :
    - the AVTransmit2 and the AVReceive2 of java.sun examples but it doesn't work.
    - then the RTPPlayerApplet -> same trouble.
    - and AVTransmit3 and AVReceive3 ->not better
    - Simple PlayerApplet ->idem
    - RTPConnector -> :(
I think i haven't understood how to make those examples work. Maybe it' s caused of my poor english :(
So i don't know if i must continue to find out a solution to one of these examples or if i must find another solution :(
Could somebody tell me if it is possible to solve my project by one of the java.sun technology?
Could somebody explain me how to make work these example?
    Thanks in advance.
    - Christel

    hi,
    1st example :
The building of the .class is correct for the AVTransmit2 and the AVReceive2
But when i'm using them the AVTransmit2 is working for 60 seconds
    < java AVTransmit2 file:\C:\CAV\TransmitAV2\zidanevsleverkusen.mpeg 192.168.0.2 42050
    but the AVReceive2 does'nt
    < java AVReceive2 192.168.0.2 42050
the error is: Failed to parse the session address given: 192.168.0.2
    Failed to initialize the session
    2nd example :
And for the RTPPlayerApplet example, i have during the building:
    < javac -classpath src -d classes src\RTPPlayerApplet.java
    the result is :
< Note: src\RTPPlayerApplet.java uses or overrides a depreciates API.
< Note: Recompile with -deprecation for details
When i use this option i have 6 warnings as this one :
    < src\RTPPlayerApplet.java: 282: warning: Javax.media.rtp.SessionManager in javax.media.rtp
    < has been deprecated
    What is my mistake?
    What have i not understood?
Thanks for help (in advance) ;D
