Trying to backup an iPhone 3gs so we can update the iOS. Old computer does not appear to back up contacts and notes (there are many). Is there a way to make sure they are backed up?
Also, everytime we sync, emails delete from the iPhone. We don't want them to. Is there a setting to prevent this from happening?
Contacts are not part of the backup. Those should be synced with a compatible address book on your computer. Notes can sync with a mail account.
No idea what you mean about emails deleting from the phone when you sync. E-mail messages are not synced with anything but the mail server. Only account information is synced.

Need help unjailbreaking my iphone 3GS so I can update to iOS5
My BIL helped me jailbreak a few months ago so I could tether. I no longer need to tether, and I do need to update the iOS. I have tried updating, and keep getting error message 1394. I looked up the fix for that, and everyone says to download Tiny Umbrella. I did that (v5.01.00). But is that ok to use if I originally used redsnow to jailbreak? I'm worried I'm messing up my iphone, and won't be able to get my stuff back. Please assist. Thanks!
Oh, and I have iOS version 4.3.1.That's not a problem bro... all you need to do is to hold on your power bottom for 3 sec. (keep hold) after hold your home bottom for 7 sec. (with your power bottom). after 7 sec. release power bottom (only) and keep hold press your home bottom. then DFU mode... now you can update the latest software,,, keep watching youtube for more info.

I want to restore and un-jailbreak my jailbroke iPhone 4 so that I can update my iOS. When I open iTunes with my iPhone connected to my PC and click on restore, I choose "back up to this computer" and get a message stating all purchases from iTunes will be lost and have to be repurchased. Is this true? Also, would all my purchased apps be lost as well? What about my bookmarks, downloaded Youtube videos, contacts, email accounts, etc.?

The camera roll is contained in an iTunes backup but you cannot view the pictures in the backup without special third party software on your computer.
If you wish you can load the camera roll photos to your computer by connecting it to your computer and have the iPad recognized as a camera. -

*(not tested yet can check that asap) won't (download from ...) just download when the application is launched?
*stream content, will it stream each time and not download anything?
*there is also the option "persist content in client cache", which you can check even if you enable "stream content", that's somewhat confusing, what does that do then?

Note there are two areas of concern here when talking about caching. The CCMcache folder where the application is downloaded to and the ProgramData\App-V folder where the actually
application is published (think of it as the installation folder) this is commonly referred to as the App-V cache.
1. As Peter says 'It will download when the application is "installed".'
2. Stream content means that only the xml files will download to the ccmcache folder and not the rest of the appv file
- this is seperate to the App-V cache mentioned above (i.e. ProgramData\App-V folder). Content will still be published to the ProgramData\App-V folder and the streaming or offlining of this is controlled by the Stored Content Store. If you enable SCS then
content published to the ProgramData\App-V folder will be FB0 and no other data will be cached offline, whilst disabling SCS means that the whole app will be offlined to ProgramData\App-V which is what you want to do.
3. This will keep the data persisting in the ccmcache.

How donI find out what these were for?If you log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option, you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it. Click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases (the most recent purchase is above the list). I'm not sure if auto-renewing subscriptions show on there. I had the same problem with mine and found out because i bought it second hand and had it unlocked updating it causes it to go back to being locked again. If you've bought it in the same situation then maybe that's the problem, i got it unlocked really cheap too and now its back to normal and all my messges, apps and pics are back.

IPhone 3GS -- Repeatedly freezes while updating to iOS 6
Perfectly working iPhone 3GS initially, then I tried upgrading to iOS 6. It froze at about 55% to 60% (based on the progress bar) and then after awhile it went black. No way to get it back easily. Repeatedly, I hit the two buttons together to reset, sometimes it works and I get the Apple symbol, but it hangs there permanently if I am not connected to the computer and, if I am, with iTunes running, it shows the phone there but won't let me click to "see it". The iPhone then tries again to update, but freezes again at 55% to 60%. There seems to be no way to break this cycle.
Anyone have ideas or suggestions? It appears that the iOS 6 update has killed my iPhone.I'm having exactly the same issue. Phone now won't do anything.

Hello, I have a question on "quest".????? I have someone getting into my computer. I have shut of the quest... and yet yesterday all of my files were stolen. My phone book, someone goes in and changes my phone number, and just changes so many things around. It really has me upset. Please... tell me how I can keep "guest" out for good. Its upsetting, and to see how you give step by step instruction to help them get into other people's computers is upsetting, yet not much on how to keep them out. Tell me just how to keep them out for good. I have a hacker, in mine. Stealing things. I have cleaned my computer out three times, in the last few weeks. I get all set up, to only three days later, even with a new list of passwords, their back again, stealing. Please Help me MorgiegalData rate DOES make a difference, but I'd say your real problem has more to do with the fact that you're working on a Powerbook. Motion's real time capabilities derive from the capability of the video card. Not the processor. Some cards do better than others, but laptops are not even recommended for running Motion.
To improve your workflow on a laptop will be limited, but there are a few things that you can try.
Make sure that thumbnails and previews are turned off.
Make sure that you are operating in Draft Mode.
Lower the display resolution to half, or quarter.
Don't expect to be getting real time playback. Treat it more like After Effects.
Compressing your clips into smaller Animations does help because it lowers the data rate, but you're still dealing with the animation codec which is a high data rate codec. Unfortunately, it sounds necessary in your case because you're dealing with alpha channels.
The data rate comes into play with your setup trying to play through your USB drive. USB drives are never recommended for editing or Motion work. Their throughput is not consistent enough for video work. a small FW drive would be better, though your real problem as I said is the Powerbook.
If you must work on the powerbook, then don't expect real-time playback. Instead, build your animation, step through it, and do RAM previews to view sections in real time.
