Trying to Buy Book is driving me mad...

Using iLife 8 . Book all complete, photos all checked and placed. 20 pages crammed with photos, text where it should be, no alerts . Then push Buy Book and a box comes up saying :
Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can buy this book.
er...been through to try to fix problem , but nothing seems to be wrong. All photos have checks on them in top gallery t/nails. Previously published using iLife 06 it was easy with no problems. Should I go back to that program? Thanks.

I actually think it must be a bug - I think that somehow when you add a page and change the layout to a full page phoito iPhoto sneaks the photo page backgound in on you - I have not been able to prove it but I just do not believe that I did the photo background behind several full page photos while I was assembling my book - but they were there and I have to go through all 66 pages to find them
I do suggest sending Apple a note -- iphoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback requesting better iPhoto assistance on finding missing photos - like a list of page numbers with photos missing or warning symbols on pages with missing photos or something - *this is a job for computers not humans!*

Iphoto book will not upload even in safe mode when trying to buy book, any suggestions on how to complete the "BUY BOOK" process?

Make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the fix below:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
After each run thru the repair process see if you can create a PDF file of the book as described in this Apple Document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it. If you can try ordering the book.  If you can't finish trying all of the otpions and then boot into Safe mode and try there.

  • Trying to buy book. iPhoto says I have not filled some of the frames but I have.

I have finished my book and I am trying to buy. A notice is coming up that says some of the frames are empty and will have to be filled.
I have a picture in every frame so what could be wrong?

    Lindsay,
A notice is coming up that says some of the frames are empty and will have to be filled.
You may have used default pictures, for example a picture background. And you will not see the missing background, if your photo is full page. See LarryHN'S post here:
Re: I am attempting to buy a photo book but it says that I have not filled the photo frames which I have.?? How to circumvent and buy this book? (This is my fifth book and first time with problems.
Also, some of the Themes have captions below the photos. Have you edited all captions? Some of them may still be showing the default entries by Apple.
Compare the Preview of the book with what you are seeing in the Browser, and check for missing photos.
iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it

  • Trying to "buy book" in Iphoto...getting error message

I am trying to buy an Iphoto book that I have created and I am getting the following error message:
+Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can buy this book.+
I have created and successfully purchased quite a few different books in the past, without a hitch. I have gone through each page and can not find the problem, has anyone else seen this before?? Or perhaps is there somewhere that will tell me what page(s) the problem could be on?
    Thank you

welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
yes - other have seen this - about 1 out of 5 of the posts in the photo services forum - http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1197 - relate to this and the answer is very simple - you have a missing photo - the most likely place is on a photo background page -the pages with a gray background or with a gray palm tree - and it can be hidden behind a full page photo - see my write up here for a longer description on how to solve this

  • Iphoto crashes while trying to buy book

I've bought quite a few books without any problem, but now everything works fine until I click buy book, it will start assembling the book, its finshing that part...pauses for a second and then crashes.
I've tried repairing disk permissions, trashing the pref files, etc.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    Jeff

Look, like I said, I'm the ultimate apple fan, and I realize your most likely a paid apple troller who's income is based on toning down known apple software issues, and that is fine.
But you mentioned "There are millions of iPhoto users that are not having this problem". So is that 1 million, 10 million, 500 million(that's half a billion pal). So I think my very modest claim of many many thousands is quite modest to your mention of "millions" which could be anywhere from 1 million to almost 1 billion.
I've already reinstalled iPhoto from the disk it came on and done x, y and z. As much as I LOVE my Iphone, I've just noticed a serious lag in apples response to very very basic problems for the rest of the Mac platform, IE system performance, Ilife Apps not running properly, and on and on(many users that can't use Ichat, burn DVD's with IDVD, Imovie Issues and on and on). If tomorrow you purchased a 2008 Subaru Outback, and the horn, radio and transmission don't work, and Subaru tells you that "there are millions of other Subaru owners not having this problem" I don't think this is a valid response.
Like I said, I've been an avid mac user for 2 decades. I've for the first time noticed the apple fan base becoming disgruntled because of their basic Ilife Apps aren't functioning properly.
Here are some stats that I find completely unacceptable from apple whos says "they just work":
I have 4 macs: 1 G5 Dual 2 GHZ PowerPC G5, one powerbook G4, one Imac G5 Intel 24" and one Imac G5 Intel 20". I also own one Ipod shuffle, one Iphone, 2 appletv's and various other Ipod models.
Here is a breakdown of MY Apple computers, my girlfriends laptop, and 6 of my other friends various apple computers:
    • My 4 Macs: 2 of the 4 can't burn DVD's in IDVD due to a "multiplexing Error"
    • 1 of the 4's Iphoto can't publish any books
    • 3 of the 4 macs Ichat hasnt worked since Ichat AV came out(they get this error: iChat.app" to accept incoming network connections
    My friends Macs issues:
    • One friend who I talked into purchasing the new Imac 24" intel machine, the first thing I wanted to show her was video chatting via Ichat with our friend from another state. This is from a BRAND NEW just unboxed machine from apple.com. We fired it up, started Ichat, then went to start a chat with our out of state friend. Guess what? for over an hour we kept getting "The user did not respond" error when if fact the user did not respond. The I went to show her how cool Itunes was and she wanted to burn a music CD to play in the car on the way to work the next day, but alas we got this error: Error 4280 when trying to burn a cd. I think that is unacceptable from a BRAND NEW MACHINE purchased from apple.com.
    • 2 of my other friends macs that were purchased in December of 2007 for the sole purpose of web browsing, email and making DVD's with IDVD can no longer make DVD's due to the "multiplexing error" they get when they try it. Both have taken their Imacs to the Apple Store without any fixes.
I love my apple products as much as anyone, but with these types of problems happening on BRAND NEW MACHINES OUT OF THE BOX I can no longer recommend them to friends and family, if they are going to spend good money and have poor performance they might as well be running Vista....

  • Trying to Buy Book in Aperture

Have prepared a book of photos of my son for his 10th birthday.  Have pressed Buy Book and entered data for account etc., but system refuses to recognise my primary address.  Additional frustrations are:
    -  When I enter an alternative address in the UK, I get asked to Try Later.
    -  We have relations in another European country and the system won't allow me to select a country other than the UK.
This is not a happy situation having spent quite some time putting this book together - would really appreciate any thoughts on the subject.

I have rebuilt my iPhoto library and did rebot in Safe Mode.
    Still the same issue.
I also tried it on my MacBook Pro, It freezes on there too.
I can click on the blue bullet points, but not on check out. I have to do a Force Quit.
Need these books for Christmas, Please Help!!

Did the test library work as it should have?  If so then your current library is the culprit.  So make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • IPhoto XL Book buy book quit unexpectedly in safe mode

    Hi,
After compiling all the photos for my 26 pages XL-size photo book, I have been trying to "Buy Book". But iPhoto has been crashing/ no responding during the upload process (after assembly process). I have tried to "buy book" for more than 10 times. No luck. So, I read the discussion board, people suggest that I should do it in safe mode.
So, I went into safe mode, less than 2 minutes after I clicked "Buy Book", it will pop up the error of "iPhoto quit unexpectedly". I have tried it 4 times already and don't know what to do.
Help, please.  Thank you in advance.
    Spec. :
    iPhoto'11, version 9.4.3 (720.91)
    OS X version 10.8.4

Thank you LarryHN and Old Toad.
I did try to resize it to L, but it is too small to my liking, so I did not continue.
Somehow, in my photobook, there were some foreign texts that I copied from websites. Although, it does not give me any error, but I thought, it does not hurt to delete those texts. I clicked "Buy Book", it was not responding again. But it went further than when I tried earlier.
So, what the heck, I thought, I would try to "Buy Book" again, if it does not work I will rebuild my iPhoto library db. But this time it went through, amazingly.
I personally do not think that the deleting foreign texts help in this case, it might simply be about a better internet connection.
Although, I have not checked the Safe Mode yet, and I do not know that it solves the problem of quit unexpectedly or not, but for now, my "Buy Book" mission is accomplished.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Can´t Buy Books

    Hey everyone,
I live in Argentina, and I created an account for my new Ipad, down here.
I´m trying to buy books from the Store (guess that it´s located in the US) but the system is not allowing me to do so.
    Any ideas why?
Any ideas on how to go around this problem?
    Thanks,
    Julio

Apple has not been able to negotiate the rights to sell electronic books in all countries, and if all you see are the free books, that apparently applies to Argentina. There will be no workaround to this problem other than to look for other outlets for electronic books in Argentina, if any. You cannot purchase from another country's iBooks Store (nor any other part of the iTunes Store; the content owners prohibit cross-border sales).
    Regards.

Are you buying from the correct Print Products Store?  If you are using the wrong store, your AppleID may not be valid.
Is the Print Products Store set correctly in iPhoto Preferences > Advanced?  It should be set to the  same country as your billing address and delivery address, and match the settings of the Apple ID you are using.
And you are using iPhoto '09 or '11, right?  you can no longer buy books from earlier versions.
When you reenter your settings as LarryHN described, don't forget to enable Express Checkout. It is required.
