Trying to clone in retouch what is option - click?

I am new to the mac trying to retouch my photos using clone. It keeps telling me to option-click. I have tried clicking on everything and help is no help.

"{Option}" is one of the modifier keys on your keyboard. (The others are "{Command}", "{Control}", and "{Shift}".)
With the Clone Brush, you hold down the Option key and click the center of the area you wish to use as your source. Then you click (and drag if you wish) to destination area.
I suggest a book on basic Mac use. There are several good guides for those familiar with Windows™ computers.
A basic introduction to the Mac OS can be found by going to Finder and clicking "Help→Mac Help". One of the chapters there is "If you’re switching from Windows...".

If a tool is acting up, one suggestion is to reset the tool.
Ctrl-click on the clone tool icon in the Options bar and select Reset Tool.

I have reset the tools restrted my computer. i am at a loss...

Are you working with more than one layer? If you are working with multiple layers it makes a difference when selecting source spot and then trying to clone to a different layer. I find that I have to be sure I am selecting the corresponding layers for source and then for application when working within multiple layers.
At least for me this is the case when getting that type of message. I am very new to this program though, so maybe someone else has a more concise answer for you.

Presumable because you have not followed the instruction implicit in the error message:

Read the Help file if you do not know how to do that.

Photoshop Elements 10 option-click issue

New install of Lion Server on a Mac Mini. It appears that the option-click key stroke to select a area of a photo to clone is not working. I get the error below on Elemens 9 and 10.
Could not use the clone stamp tool because the area to clone has not been defined (option-click to define a source point).
Could this be an issue with the Magic Mouse? i used Systems Preferences / Keyboard Prefernces /Show Keyboard viewere to see that when I depress the 'option' key it is actually being depressed. Is the click on the mouse being 'recorded'?
I would just give up and buy Apeture but I have too much invested in Photoshop (software and knowledge). Where should I complain about this issue? Apple Store? This forum?
Could this be an issue with the Magic Mouse? I'm going to install 10 (have 9 installed today) on my Mac Air and use it without a mouse to see if I have the same problem.

Installed Elements 10 trial on my Mac Air no issue. Converted my Magic Mouse over to my Mac Air via bluetooth. !AH AH!!!!!! Same problem. I think I have isolated it to something to do with the Magic Mouse. Tomorrow I will go buy a wired Mac Mouse at the Apple store to see if I have the same issue.
If anyone has some suggestions on how to isolate even more to the Magic Mouse then please step up!

Photoshop CS5 Clone Stamp Tool option-click just stopped working, why?

I've been using clone stamp tool option-click (healing brush option-click also) on Photoshop CS5 on my Mac 10.6.5 and it stopped working suddenly on Monday. Had just used it on Sunday. So, I've tried to isolate the problem.
1. Went to Apple store and my keyboard and mouse work fine on their inhouse systems running Photosochop CS5. Problem still exists on home system.
2. Adobe photoshop suggested I go back to Mac 10.6.3. I did and problem still exits.
3. Reset all presets in CS5. Problem still exists.
4. Spent several hours with Adobe Photoshop tech on phone -- he couldn't make it work remotely either using his keyboard. Reloaded Photoshop from scratch. Problem still exists.
Question:
Could this be a hardware problem? Graphic board problem?
Or is this a software problem aside from Mac OS and CS5?

..... I wonder why the guru thought your system was gone if your new user account was working?
If your new user account is working.... why not use it? The system seems fine but something went screwy with the settings in your original account.
hopefully someone else will chime in here with more insight before you start from scratch.

Trying to clone my old hard drive to my new one.

I have installed a new drive called "Main Drive" on my Power Mac G4. This Main Drive is my boot drive, and has all the basic software of OSX 10.3.9, for now. So I am trying to clone my OSX disc onto my new start up disk called "Main Drive", which as a lot more space.
I have tried both carbon copy cloner, and super duper, and for some reason, my new Main Drive does not show up as an option in the "target" selection in carbon copy cloner, or the "to" selection in super duper.
Am I doing something wrong?
Is there another way of doing this?
Hope you can help.
Oh, this version of OSX does not have Migration Assistant.

Well, I am in trouble again. Hope you can help.
Here's what I did:
1. I stopped the cloning after leaving it overnight with no results. I started the process again, this time not choosing any extra options, and it worked. The clone was successful.
2. So I restarted from my new "Main Drive" but it hung up at 98 % and said "Login in Window Starting".
3. Kept my mouse down, pressed the restart button, and installed the installation disc, and started with the C key down.
4. Started Disk Utility, to repair permissions, and got the following error: Disk Utility Internal Error, "Disk Utility has lost its connection with Disk Management Tool, and cannot continue, Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility. Well, quitting and relaunching didn't work.
5. Did some research and discovered that there is some kind of conflict with I Tunes and OSX 10.3.9. So, I went back and restarted to my old OSX disk. Clicked on the new Main Drive and dragged itunes to the osx desktop. Then tried to run disk utility form the installation disk and it still didn't work. Come to find out I did this incorrectly.
6. So, this time, I started back up to my old osx disc. I clicked on the new Main Drive, chose go to folder from the finders menu, typed in /Library/Receipts, and dragged the ITunes Pkg. to the desk top of osx. (there was no itunes 4.pkg listed.)
7. Started from the C key again to repair permissions, and disk utility still gave me that same error message.
8. Started up from osx again, but this time, I repaired disk the disk permissions from osx not the start up disc, and disk utility seemed to work. I put the removed itunes receipts back.
9. Tried starting up from new Main Drive again, but this time the start up window got hung up on "Waiting for Network File System", which was even worse than the "Login Window Starting" message.
10. Tried to start up new Main Drive with c key and had the same problem as step 9.
11. Started up old osx drive from c key. This time clicked on the new Main drive from the osx, removed the itunes receipts, ran disk utility for the new Main Drive from osx, repaired permissions successfully, but this time, I did not put the itunes receipts back.
12. Then started up from my new Main Drive again, and new its back being hung up at 98 % and once again says "Login Window Starting..."

Is there a Thunderbird manual? I'm trying to understand all the View/Threads options.

I'm learning Thunderbird, hoping to adopt it as my mail client (can't keep Eudora afloat any more). The forums are not efficient for learning it. Right now I'm trying to understand all the View/Threads options, but tomorrow it will be something else.

The first one doesn't explain threads options but it led me to https://github.com/protz/GMail-Conversation-View/wiki/What-is-threading, which told me to do View > Sort by > Threaded (I had only tried View > Threads > ...). It also explains threading by message ID, whereas Eudora seems to do it only by subject line.
Neither reference explains the options under View > Threads > ... but I'll figure it out by trial & error.
The second reference led to http://www.nidelven-it.no/documentation/thunderbird/introduction-to-thunderbird, which also looks helpful.

Trying to clone but CCC says "mach_kernel missing"

i am trying to clone my 1 TB boot OS drive in bay 1 to a 4 TB drive in another bay so that i can put this 4 TB drive in bay 1 and use it as my boot drive. i would like to do this in order to have a ton of expansion on my new-used 2012 mac pro.
however CCC is giving m this error.
does anyone know how to solve this while i try and research the CCC faq and other documents?

What profile option do i need to be set to deny user access from login on to different machine. I mean a user that logon to Machine A if he/she tries to logon to machine B. Machine A must be disconnected telling him/her that he/she had already logon to a machine before.

HT4847 I am trying to uncheck the data and documents option for storing this information in iCloud, however, the only option I am given is to cancel the request or to remove them from my Mac (but not iCloud apparently). This is wrong! Any ideas?

I tried to uncheck my documents and data option and the only choice I was given was to cancel the request or to have all the documents removed from my Mac! I cannot sign out and sign back in either. I restarted my computer but that hasn't helped either. Does anyone know what to do about this? It's crazy that Apple would hold my data hostage and offer me the option of using this service or not having access to my own information EXCEPT in iCloud. I wish I'd researched it more before I tried it. Buyer beware.
