Installing the appropriate combo update may help...
If you are running v10..7 Lion, install the OS X Lion Update 10.7.4 (Client Combo)
For 10.6 Snow Leopard >  Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
Then restart your Mac. Try the App Store.
If that doesn't help, try the following..
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
    Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading Mountain Lion.
You may also need to disable anti virus software and turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security (or Security & Privacy) > Firewall

  • I bought and downloaded mountain lion, but it's in my downloads...

...as needing downloaded? I actually just downloaded and installed the update and am running 10.8.1 and it says so under 'about this mac'. I clicked on download and it said that it was already installed, so I cancelled it, and it started downloading! I paused it and now it's waiting for me to resume... What do I do? thanks in advance for your help...I'm a rookie!

The App Store is referring to the "Install OS X Mountain Lion" application, not to the OS you're running at the time.
If you want to re-download the installer, you can.  But you can also just ignore it, or hide it, in the App Store.

  • Trying to download mountain lion, but when I try to download it, asks me security questions I dont remember the answers to, so I reset the questions, but old ones still pop up when I try to download mountain lion.  How do I change the questions for good?

I dont get why it asks me for my password and two security questions when just buying something from the app store, but the questions wont change.

The Three Best Alternatives for Security Questions and Rescue Mail
        1. Use Apple's Express Lane.
Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the
bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then
'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Forgotten Apple
ID security questions' and click 'Continue'. Please be patient waiting for the return
phone call. It will come in time depending on how heavily the servers are being hit.
         2.  Call Apple Support in your country: Customer Service: Contact Apple support.
         3.  Rescue email address and how to reset Apple ID security questions.
A substitute for using the security questions is to use 2-step verification:

Download Mac OS X 10.9 from the Mac App Store. If it's incompatible with your computer, Mac OS X 10.8 will be as well.

Try setting the Energy Saver to "never" and uncheck "put hard disks to sleep when possible". You can allow the screen to sleep after any suitable time.
    Hope that helps. Regards.

  • I recently did a factory restore on my imac mountain lion, but when i try to download OS x again apple is not recognizing my id and password

I recently did a factory restore on my imac mountain lion, but when i try to download OS x again apple is not recognizing my id and password

So, what exactly did you do for a "factory restore"? Which method did you try?
Did you go to the app store > Purchases? Is it listed there?
Or, did you try using the recovery method (Command + R keys or Command + Option + R keys while restarting)? Are you able/unable to reach Apple's servers to download the OS?

  • Trying to buy Mountain Lion but

    Hi ,
I'm trying to buy Mountain Lion but I just get sent around to different pages either saying I havn't bought anything or a page saying I need to uppgrade Gagage Band, iPhoto,iMovie. So I download and install but the only thing that happens is that the change date gets changed. The program itself doesn't and I get a folder called _MACOSX but there is nothing in it that works.
I thought it was suposed to be easy to buy through App Store.
    Hmm

Thanks a lot ! Worked like a charm after I pressed the ¨buy¨ button twice (2) , Best regards Martin

  • I am trying to buy Mountain Lion but I am getting this message: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.

I just tried to buy Mountain Lion but I am getting this message, yes, even after I reboot: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
I don't understand what this means? Is my MacBookPro too old to work with Mountain Lion?

I bought and was downloading Mountain Lion but the download stalled. What do I do?

What do you see in the Mac App Store > Purchases section? The dl could just be paused, in which case you can resume it and carry on.
If it doesn't list it there then search your Mac for the installer incase it finished in the background and didn't start the installer automatically.
Finally, if you don't see it anywhere and you're sure it hasn't finished and actually updated without you realising it, you can email Apple's iTunes support team and they can either put it back in your download queue to try again or regrant you the download so you can 'buy' it again without having to pay.
