Trying to encode a large file small

I am trying to send a film which is 150 meg. I used H.264. It looks great but way to big. I am not worried about the frame size. But I need to get the file down to about 10 meg. Because the video has alot of very quick stills timed to music, the results I am getting makes them seem to loose time and be juddery. Is there a better codec to use or is there a better bit and frame rate I can use.

10:1 means compressing the footage ten time smaller.
15:1 would be fifteen sizes smaller.
Compressor permits you to create a custom preset from an existing preset to lower the size of the file even smaller.
As to Sorenson, I'm sure how to answer your question.
Better in what way?
As to Compressor, open the application and look at the

I am trying to save a large file on Illustrator CS6 and it does not save and instead says "Unknown Error Occurred." What do I do?
The file has 4 artboards with webpage designs. I tried to take two of the artboards, create a separate doc with those two, and save, but the result was the same.
However, I am able to save simpler, smaller files.
I need to not lose these files and I am afraid to quit and restart and lose my unfinished work.
    Any advice?

What happens if you choose this option?

  • Trying to transfer a large file using new ipod touch.

I am trying to transfer a large file (17gigs)using my new ipod touch. I got a new laptop and i am trying to get some things on it. I was able to do this last time with my old ipod classic. It would let me copy/paste the file or drag it. But with the ipod touch i can not do either of those. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you very much.

  • ITunes (Win) crashing when trying to match/upload large files

    Hi there,
I've got a little problem with iTunes Match again. Imho it is still veeery buggy but it certainly improved a bit!
    So the problem is:
I am listening to mixes a lot - meaning: large mp3 files with runtimes up to 3hrs.
When I load files like these into my iTunes lib on Windows 7 and then try to upload them into the cloud 9 out of 10 times iTunes simply crashes while analyzing these large files ("iTunes stopped working"). Nothing I can do. Even trying to upload these files one by one didn't help.
Does anyone have any ideas on what to do about this?
    thanks, cheers
    P

    Thanks for the reply!
I know that 200mb is the limit. But as you already noted it should just say "not compatible" or whatever but not just simply crash. Problem is I can't have these tracks in my iTunes library then because every time I try to sync my lib with Match it tries to sync these files as well and iTunes just simply crashes.
I also have a Macbook so I will try to upload the files via iTunes on the Mac. If that doesn't help last idea may be to reduce file size ... although I hate doing this as I prefer 256kbit files.
Split into two would be another idea.
Anyways I had these problems with large files couple of times already but could always fix it by syncing one file at a time. not this time though.

  • I am trying to send a large file and it takes over 15 hours and still doesnt send the complete file

I am sending a large file over the internet to Graphistudio. When i try and send the file it tells me it is going to take 19 hours. when i have sent these files in the past it has never taken this long. when it does finish sending it doesnt even send all the file and bits are missing.

What method or app are you using to send the "large" file with?  Emails, for instance are often limited to 35 or 40 MB's maximum size by the ISP provider.  You would need to use an FTP setup to send a larger file.   And what is the size of the file in MB's or GB's?  You might check out the following free FTP Apps for Mac:

  • How to make a 720x486 file smaller in H264 encode?

    Hi,
I've got a 60 second movie that I'm trying to upload, but the file size is mysteriously large at 72 MB. I sent a different 60 second movie through the H264 encoder and it was only 31 MB.
In an effort to make the large file smaller, I'm trying to change the dimensions, but I'm confused about the two types of 720x486 files. Why does is say (640x480) next to the 720x486 in the dimensions?

Try feeding your original movie thru compressor with the H.264 LAN preset - that's about 5 or 6 MB per 30 seconds.
That preset is found under Apple/Other Workflows/Web/Download/QT 7 compatible.
It does set the dimensions to 640x480 - the right sizing for converting SD pixels to square.

  • Large file processing in XI 3.0

    Hi,
We are trying to process a large file of ~280 MB file size and we are getting timeout errors. I followed all the required tunings for memory and heap sizes and still the problem exists. I want to know if installation of decentral adapter engine for just this file processing might solve the problem which I doubt.
Based on my personal experience there might be a limitation of file size processing in XI may upto 100 MB with minimul mapping and no BPM.
Any comments on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Debnilay,
We do have 64 bit architecture and still we have the file processing problem. Currently we are splitting the file into smaller chuncks and processsing. But we want to process as a whole file.
    Thanks

  • IdeaTab A2109A - large file transfer

    Hello,
Trying to transfer a large file (4.5GB) to tablet IdeaTab A2109A connected to a laptop, this gets truncated to 1.2GB and transfer stops. Smaller files are copied fine, but seems that larger files have problem.
Tablet has no SD card attached, thus I'm transfering directly to its internal storage (11GB free space).
    Android ver. 4.1.1/ kernel 3.1.10
Please share your ideas/experience/solution on transfering large files for IdeaTab A2109A.
    Thanks!

I've never tried transferring a file that big, but I've found using adb push and pull to transfer faster than using MTP.

  • Can't copy large files to any Samba share

Just updated to Mavericks but i'm having big problems moving bigger files (so far i've tried a couple of 4GB files) to a SMB share. Just the other day i could copy these files over just fine under Mountain Lion but Mavericks throws this error:
"The item blablabla.bla can't be copied because it's too large for the volume's format"
So far i've tried with a couple of files smaller than 4GB (up to 2.5gb so far) work just fine. No write errors either. The files can be copied without problems when i boot from my older harddrive with Mountain Lion still on it so i'm going to go out on a limb and say it's not a file or server error but a Mavericks error. Anyone know why or what to edit for this to work normally again?

I have temporarily resolved this problem by reconnecting to the server and shares differently.
    Disconnect from the server
In Finder, select "Go" and then "Connect to server..."
    For server address enter: CIFS://ServerNameOrIPAdress/
    Select the shares you need
You will now be able to move bigger files to SMB shares again. For ease of use, drag a share or a folder within a share to your Sidebar.
As it appears Apple has implemented a newer version of the SMB protocol, SMB2, that is still somewhat buggy and will throw errors like these.
I hope this helps someone else as well.

  • Mail stuck sending large file

I have just sent an email in Mail with a large attachment.  For 2 days my sent icon has been working and no other mails can get sent.  It is not giving me the option to stop sending, or reduce size.  It is just stuck trying to send it.  Help!

    Janet,
Is the message with too large attachment still trying to send?  If so, again quit Mail, but this time, in the Finder, open Home, and while holding down the Option key click on Go in the menubar.  This will allow you to click on Library, then the Mail folder.  Then look in the Mailboxes folder for the Outbox.mbox folder.  Remove it by draggin it to the Desktop (later to the trash, likely).  Now relaunch Mail again.  When you next try to send a normal sized message, Mail will recreate the Outbox.mbox folder.  (Not booted into Lion at the moment, so unable to confirm all of this, but is how it could be done in all other versions of Mail.
Are you trying to put the large file somewhere as a backup, or are you, as I first thought, trying to send it to someone?  File on iCloud are not meant for sharing with others, unlike iDisk.
    More info, please.

  • "Unable to sync" when uploading large files to Creative Cloud

    Hi,
I recently tried to upload some large files (1.1 GB, 2 GB) to my Creative Cloud. After completing the upload after nine hours I got the error message "unable to sync".
    Any suggestions?

I'm having the same issue. I removed the offending big files. I turned sync on and off, but it's still unable to sync. Any thoughts?

  • Transferring large files from my mac to pc

Hi guys, i'm trying to transfer a large file from my mac to my pc. Its over 7GB and my mac doesnt have a DL dvd burner so that's out of the question. I've tried transferring it over the network however the eta is 2 days which is a little too long. I've tried putting the file on my external HD but when its formatted into mac os extended my laptop does not recognise it and when the drive is formated in ms dos (fat) i am unable to put the file on to the drive (error code 0)
I've run out of ideas what to do so was hoping someone on here could help
    Thanks

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
have a look at this little Windows program http://hem.bredband.net/catacombae/hfsx.html
It enables Windows to read from HFS-formatted (OSX) harddisks.
Might be the easiest and cheapest solution, as others are not free.
MacDrive would be another option, but is not free (but has more features).
    Regards

  • File copy of large file fails.

I am trying to copy a large file, say "file.txt", from an external drive to my hard drive. The size of the file is 140 GB. I have tried twice, and both times the copy operation has stopped (after a couple of hours and 135 GB) with the message: "Operation cannot be completed. File already exists." The only file named file.txt that exists at that time is the partial one that was copied.
What's going on and how can I perform the file copy?
    Thanks!

Can you tell me if the external drive (for any of the respondents) was NOT formatted with a Mac partition? Instead something like NTFS or FAT?
The file transfer failure issue is a recurrent frustration to a lot of users for many iterations of the Finder. Either through singular large file transfers or through multiple files (thousands) that in total are large in size.
I am speculating that the issue arises from files being transferred between storage locations of differing formats or in the case of internet based storage varying file translations. In part this speculation exists because I do not seem to experience this issue if the drives are all Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Just looking to confirm your configuration.

  • Larger File Icon

I've been trying to get a large file icon for file types, but when i try using code such as
ShellFolder.getShellFolder(file).getIcon(true)all i get is an icon of 32 x 32 pixels. Is there any way to get an icon of a larger size?

I believe the "larger icon" you are talking about is when you set--use large icons on--and all of your icons are scaled to a larger size by windows. I've not experienced nor seen any docs on making indiviual icons larger than the default value, nor can I get any reference to individual icon sizing in windows.
Here is a link telling you how to make all of your icons as big as you like, I believe the setting is user specific:
