Trying to find wireless lan add on 871

We have a CISCO871-SEC-K9 and need the optional WLAN 802.11b/g. I cannot find any description or picture or part number.
Can anyone give me a hint where I can find this information on the Cisco web site?
Thank you, Ed Podowski

Hi Ed,
You are not going to love this answer :(
Q. Is it possible to upgrade a nonwireless model to support wireless?
A. No, a nonwireless model can never be upgraded to support wireless. The Cisco 870 Series and Cisco 850 Series have two separate versions, a wireless model and a nonwireless model.
From this doc;

Hope this helps, sorry man!

Does Tiger require ownership (and sharing) of wired printers on a wireless LAN? My G4 (Tiger) and all printers are wired to the LAN, and the G4 can access all printers through the router. Additional wireless Macs (Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion) cannot even find the printers. Yet, if the G4 shares the printers, then ALL computers on the LAN can access them. However, this requires the G4 to remain powered. Is there a workaround that would allow me to shut down the G4 and still use the printers?

    Hello BDAqua!
Well, I am halfway there. Following your steps on the Snow Leopard MBP, the newer printer (a Canon MX860 inkjet) appeared automatically under the "default" icon on the ADD printer window. I used the IP icon with the HP Jetdirect-Socket protocol to find and add the older printer, (an HP 4000N). That required running a configuration page from the printer to locate its IP address. I printed to both printers through this laptop with success!
I then followed exactly the same procedure with the Mountain Lion MBP. For both installation attempts, I got an error message window: Unable to verify the printer on your network. "192.168.111" may not exist or is unavailable at this time. Would you still like to create the printer? If I click Continue, it creates the icon and name in the printer list. However when I attempt to print from an app. the next message says, 'Printer is unavailable.'
Why one laptop finds and uses both printers, and the newer laptop does not, just floors me!
Thank you for your ongoing assistance.

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

If you already have a printer, you can probable use a program like, printopia to let your mac share your printer with the iOS device like your iPad. The catch being your computer has to be on, and not asleep, for the printer to work with your iPad.
If you need a printer that is airprint ready, you can find a list on AirPrint, wireless printing straight from your iPad. Check out the bottom of the page where it says works with airprint enabled printers. There are even links on the page so you can buy the printers right from Apple's website.

  • How to find the Wireless LAN adaptor on my Satellite L350-21U

Today I received a message through Toshiba Tempro that an update for the LAN driver is available for my laptop which has Windows7.
However there are some possibilities i.e. INTEL, ATHEROS or REALTEK.
How can I find which LAN driver is installed on my laptop.
Please note that I am not so familiar with computers.
A step by step instruction would be appreciated !

  • Differentiate between wireless lans

We are using ACS 5.2 as a radius server for our wireless network. Our current wireless lan is wpa2 with 802.1x enabled. ACS is checking against AD. We would like to setup a new wireless ssid for internal staff that we would grant permission to use. It would be less firewalled, and the staff member needs to sign a form to use it. So two questions..
    1. How do we differentiate between the ssids when the radius requests come in? When someone trys to connect to the internal staff ssid and trys to auth, how can we separate that out from the rest of the wireless connections?
    2. How do we only grant permission to certain people? We would want to add the username to the internal users group, but have the password auth against AD instead of typing one in.
Thanks for any help you guys can give.

    Hi,
When a RADIUS request arrives to the ACS it contains the ssid the user is trying to connect to.
Please  take a look at this document where it explains that the ssid name in  present on the RADIUS attribute 30 called-station-ID:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00807669af.shtml.
Using ACS 5.x, you need to create a rule that compares that attribute with the ssid name you want to filter.
Please take a look at the screenshot example:

  • WPA issue on Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B

    Hi,
I'm trying to use the WPA authentication using my Toshiba's Tecra S1 with an integrated Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B. I've read that this adapter supports WPA. I've installed the newest drivers under my Windows xp SP2, but the OS doesn't allows me to select WPA authentication in the wireless properties.
    Any help is wellcome.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
The Wlan encryption standard you will find in the WLan properties.
You have to select you SSID and click on the properties.
If there you will not find any option for WPA so this WLan miniPCI card doesnt support this encryption option.
Note: This option depends on the hardware and not on the software. You cannot enable the encryption by updating any drivers or any SP.

  • Help! Time Capsule Setup Help: Airport Utility Not Finding Wireless Device

Hi folks, I'm hoping some of you more experience Mac techies can help me out. I just bought a (refurbished previous generation) Time Capsule, and I'm trying to set it up for the first time. I don't really have a complicated network configuration-- I'm just going to plug my cable modem into the Time Capsule and use it as the wireless router. The problem is, my Mac's Airport Utility isn't recognizing the Time Capsule after I plug the cable modem into it. The Airport Utility on my MacBook Pro is the latest version (5.5.2) or at least recent enough that it should be compatible with the Time Capsule. Since I can't get the Airport Utility to discover the Time Capsule, I don't know if it's the laptop or the Time Capsule.
Prior to trying to set up the Time Capsule, I was using a very old generation Airport Base Station. I decided to replace it with the Time Capsule because I wasn't getting the connection speeds I wanted, and the old Airport Base Station only offered WEP security. When I tried to configure the old Airport using the Airport Utility, I couldn't get my laptop to discover the router as well. But I just figured it was a problem with the old Airport.
As far as I can tell, the Airport card in my laptop can find wireless network connections just fine. It can see my old Airport Base Station as well as all the other routers in my range. It just can't use the Airport Utility to configure the Airport routers themselves.
I'm a little bit befuddled because it seems like setup should be a no-brainer. Either I've completely overlooked something really simple or something else is really wrong. I've set up a case to get help from Apple techs, but I'd appreciate any insight if anyone has some solutions to share.
    Thanks!
    Bryan

    Welcome to the discussions, Bryan!
I suggest that you "hard reset" the Time Capsule (TC) by holding in the reset button on the TC until until you see the amber light begin to flash more quickly and keep holding another 4-5 seconds when this occurs before you release the reset button.
Give the TC about 30 seconds to stabilize. If you are using wireless to configure the TC, open AirPort Utility and see if it now appears. If not, click the fan shaped Airport icon at the top of your Mac's screen and look for for a wireless network with a name like Apple Network xxxxxx to join. That's the default network that the TC broadcasts so that you can configure it using wireless. Try AirPort Utility again.
If you have a spare ethernet cable handy, temporarily connect it from your Mac to one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC and open AirPort Utility. Once you have the TC configured, you can disconnect the temporary ethernet cable.
See if one of the methods above will get you going. Post back if you need more assistance.

  • L410 (0616-A18) Wireless Lan issue

    Hello all,
i have been using my notebook for more than two years with ZERO complaints, till my hard disk died few days ago,
i bought a new Intel SSD and installed a new copy of Windows 7
I am having a weird problem, which is that i am not able to install the drivers for the Wireless LAN card, i am pretty sure that i have the realtek one and that i used the driver from realtek on my previous installation and it was working perfectly, now i find three types of Intel drivers and one Thinkpad driver, none of them install the card properly
the card is showing in Device manager under other device as "Network Controller"
is there a way to know the exact model of the card to get its driver from the manufacturer website ? or any other suggestions ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hey there safrout,
Are you referring to the Realtek RTL8191SE 802.11b/g/n? After quite a bit of digging I found that this card was available in some machines but not in all. It may be worthwhile to check the driver that they have there.
Have you tried using the ThinkVantage System Update Utility?

  • T43 - Wireless LAN missing

T43 (2687D4U).  I did a system restore to clean things up and upon restore, I downloaded the new Toolbox, which is great, and it updated all my drivers.  Everything is working perfect (love the Thinkpads!), however there is no icon for Wireless connection.  Add Hardware searches all devices and finds no Wireless card.  It does not find/recognize the internal Wireless 802. card
    Kindest regards,
    EE
I posted ealier in response to another user's similar problem.  Since we have different models I chose to repost separately.  Sorry for any confusion

You should uninstall your wireless driver, then install this one:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70480
After downloading it, you must go to C>Drivers>Win>Wlanint and run the setup from there.
How do I uninstall the current driver when a LAN card isn't even listed?  I've downloaded several to see if they would work to no avail.  In the Add/Remove Programs, there is nothing to indicate a Wireless LAN.
Viewing C>Drivers>Win>Wlanint and running the setup, I receive the following error:
"Please make sure that there are no "Found New Harware Wizard" dialogues open and that the installer has only been launched once."    (I've made sure that I restarted before running setup).

  • Satellite L750 - Wireless LAN is Off, no connection to my home WLAN

Hello, I am having some issues with my Satellite L750. It has a wireless adapter called Atheros AR9002WB-1NG, which seems to be acting up.
When I turned my laptop on I noticed it wasn't connected to any networks, so I looked and found it couldn't find any. I checked on my phone (on which I am writing this) and there is my network and many others that are available for connecting, and mine works fine on my phone. I tried resetting the router and nothing happened, and I could still connect on my phone and tablet.
I delved into the wireless software and found something called "ConfigFree". In this I found "Connectivity Doctor". This said that there was an issue with the adapter, and then after further examining I found that it said that "Wireless LAN Off" next to a red image of a switch.
Does anyone know how to turn it back on?

TosHdpAPI.dll belongs to Toshiba Bluetooth stack software
So I recommend reinstalling the Toshiba BT stack in order to fix this!
The Atheros Wlan card seems to support the Bluetooth too.
So to be able to use Wlan and BT you have to install the Atheros WLan driver, Atheros BT filter and Toshiba BT stack
