Trying to get my music off of my old PC and on to my new mac

i have an old PC laptop running windows XP, it also has an oder version of ITunes. I have an old IPod, everything is touch sensitive and the buttons light up red (i think it's second gen). i just recently purchased a mac mini and i need to get my music off of the old PC and on to the new macif anyone knows how to do this i would much appreciate your help.
P.S. I'm still learning about my mac so go easy on me

I believe your iPod is 3rd Gen (with the 4 buttons on the top?)
Long story short, an iPod formatted on a PC can be read by a Mac computer, you can download a 3rd party software e.g. Senuti (Google search please) and install it on your Mac Mini, use this software to transfer the songs from your iPod to the iTunes of your Mac

Do you have iTunes match? You need a computer to manage an iTunes match library.

How do I get the music off of my old iphone?

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

my old computer crashed, it was xp i replaced it with windows 7 how do i get my library back from the old computer and put on the new one?

  • How do I take the music off of my old iPhone and put it onto a library in my laptop if the music is not in my original iTunes library?

I got a new phone and I'm trying to take the music off of my iPhone 5c, put it into my iTunes default library and then put it onto my new phone. A lot of my music was put onto my phone via mass amounts of CDS and I dont want to put them back on my laptop. I have a Toshiba so that would take way too long. Since I wiped my computer clean awhile back I have nothing in my iTunes library at all. Someone help.

That is stealing. Your friend has no right/licence to give the songs to you. It violates copyright law.

  • How do I get my music off of my old iphone to my new iphone

I got a new phone and my music from my 3g will not sync to my computer to get onto my new phone.

Since all music on your 3G should be in your iTunes library on your computer, what happened to your iTunes library?

  • How do i get my bookmarks off of an old harddrive and transfer them to another harddrive?

the mother board died on my old desktop - but, the hard drive is still operable. I got a new desktop and a friend added the old hard drive from my old computer (that has all of my firefox bookmarks somewhere) to my new computer. I now have two hard drives on a computer - the one that came with the new computer - and my old one - so, i am now able to move all my pictures and files, etc - and even found the Internet Explorer bookmarks - but, i cannot seem to find the firefox bookmarks. I look under Program Files - and I see Mozilla Firefox there - but, do not see the bookmarks. I searched for it - tried the answers that the mozilla website says to do - but, I cannot find them. can anyone help?? thanks

Bookmarks aren't stored in the Program Files folder but rather in their own "hidden" Profile Folder.
This link will show you where Firefox holds all of your information and what files to transfer over
    *https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
To get to your Profile Folder, while in Firefox, click the new menu button on the far right side of the Navigational Toolbar, click Help then click Troubleshooting Information. Under the Applications Basic section, click Show Folder. The window that opens will be your Profile folder.
Seeing as you want your Bookmarks, you should grab <b>places.sqlite</b> then put them into the Profile Folder in your new hard drive with Firefox closed

  • How do I get my contacts off of my old BB and onto my new iPhone?

Alright I have a new iPhone finally.
I have an old BB curve that has all my contacts.
These contacts are not saved to the sim card.
I was told you can do something with outlook or something else that will take all of my contacts names, numbers emails etc out of my BB and allow me to then upload them into my iPhone?
Can someone walk me through the process of this exactly?
    Thanks.

You need to install the BB Desktop Software or Manager, which should be included with a CD provided with your BB purchase.
    1. Connect your BlackBerry device to your computer.
    2. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    3. Double-click Synchronize.
    4. On the Configuration tab, click Configure synch.
    5. Select the Address Book check box.
    6. Click Configure > Advanced Settings.
    7. Select Outlook as the sync partner.
With Windows XP, the iPhone supports syncing contact info and calendar events with Outlook 2003 or 2007, or the address book used by Outlook Express for contact info, which I believe is called Windows Contacts.
You select a compatible contact management application under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

  • Mac-format to PC-format: How can I get my music off an external hard drive?

I had a mac-formatted iPod for years, and all of my music is on an external hard drive that is hooked up to that computer. When I got a new iPod after mine was stolen, I had to get a PC-formatted iPod. How can I get my music off of the hard drive and onto my PC (and eventually my iPod)? I tried uploading the files into my iTunes account on the Mac, but they don't show up in my account on the PC. Most of the music are CDs that I copied onto my computer years ago, and had on my old iPod. Help!

Your Firefox profile would have the data. You can find it at:
    *C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>
**The file you want is called ''places.sqlite''
You can copy that file if you want to restore your bookmarks to your current Firefox by going back to ''C:\Users\<Windows login/user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder>'' and overwriting the current file. Keep in mind, doing this will erase your current bookmarks.

  • Ok...i just baught a new ipod touch and synched it to my old computer to get my music off it...but when i synched it to my new comp it wants to erase everything thats not baught from i tunes....how do i keep the music in order to sync to my new comp?

i just baught a new ipod touch and synched it to my old computer to get the music off it but when i synched it to my new computer it wants to delete all the music on it that wasnt baught through itunes....how do i keep my cd's and stuff that are on the ipod now and put it onto my new computer?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • How can I get my music off my g5  running tiger to my iPad2

I suspect that this will not work. How can I get my iTunes library from my old G5 running tiger to my iPad  2?

I think you need to get it into a current i tunes library, then you can sync.
Here is a link with a rather long but useful discussion.  There are some non apple tools floating around to grab the media as well.  You need two steps, getting the stuff off of the old system, and getting them onto the pad.  To do the second step, you need a current i tunes set up somewhere.

  • I tried getting my music off my ipod onto my new laptop and it got rid of all my music except 5 songs and came up with files such as F00, F01, F02 etc

I tried getting my music off my ipod onto my new laptop and it got rid of all my music except 5 songs and came up with files such as F00, F01, F02 etc
    WHAT SHOULD I DO

Use the backup of your computer and put the songs back on. If these are iTunes songs you can download them again on your computer and sync the nano.

  • How do I get this music off of my iPhone?

I keep trying and trying to delete all my music off my phone and it won't delete. When I go to General>Usage>Music and try to delete it from there, it doesn't delete. On iTunes, I have "manually manage music and videos selected" but that doesn't help. When I click "Music" under the name of my device, only 4 songs show up (all of which are greyed out) and I have hundreds. I don't want to delete the songs from my library just so they'll be off my phone. I want to keep the songs in my iTunes library, I just want them off my phone. I don't know how to get this music off and it's making me really angry. Please help!

Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want to be on the iphone, sync

  • How Do I Get My Music Off My Ipod Touch Cos My PC Blew Up!!

I'm hoping someone can help me...
My PC recently died on me so i lost all the data including my itunes library.
Is there any way to get the music off my ipod touch? I've tried just exploring it in My Computer (Windows XP) but the ipod isn't showing up a drive...
I've a couple of 3rd party freeware apps but they say that the ipod is not connected (but the ipod works ok itself)
    Can anyone help?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to the iPod and iPhone. However there are a few third party utilities that are advertised as iPhone and iPod Touch compatible which can be used to retrieve the music files and playlists etc. Have a look at the web sites and help pages for these ones and see what you think or check the web for reviews:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
