Trying to rebuild library_ says it's locked!
My iphoto 5.0.4 crashed while I was using it, and now opens up with no photos in it. I tried to rebuild the library by opening iPhoto while holding down "option+command" keys. A dialogue box says: "The iPhoto library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permissions to make changes to it."
I am the only user of this computer, have permissions to do everything on it, and I checked and none of the files are locked.
What do I do next? Please help! I have thousands of images, albums, etc. and shudder at the thought of starting all over.

I just bought a new Macbook pro and i tried to rebuild my iphoto library from a time machine backup on an external hard drive. Even after pressing command+option when starting iphoto and selecting rebuild library from automatic backup, it still doesn't work with the grey screen with the white circle and a little window that says 'rebuilding library: 0 versions restored'. I also tried to make a copy of my iphoto library but that did not work either. how can i restore my iphoto library or at least gain access to my photos?
Your question is not clear
Rerairing or rebuilding the iPhoto library never involves using Time Machine in any way
TM is a totally seperate program and you can "restore" a file (including the iPhoto library) from the past using TM - you launch TM and go back to the time you want and select the file (or folder or package) you want and click restore - it probably is best to keep the current one until you are sure everything is good

Trying to open old iPhoto library on osx 10.9.5 with iPhoto 9.5.1. iPhoto says I must upgrade but upgrade eventually hangs. Tried to rebuild/repair database but it always says you have to upgrade database first and eventually hangs
What version was the old library made with?
What is the exact message? when it hangs does it crash or do you have to force quit?

Tried running disk repair from HD recovery, not repairable. Trying to reinstall OSx Lion, says disc is locked. Do I have to erase the drive and lose everything? I also have Bootcamp installed, will boot to Windows no problem.

try rebooting in Recovery mode, but when you reach the Mac OS X Utilities menu, run Terminal (from Utilities in the menu bar) instead. Inside the Terminal window, give it the following command, and then press the Return key:
diskutil list

Help ipod touch. Newer version. Turns on and off but does nothing else. Says on it ipod is disabled. Connect to itunes. what should i do? My daughter could not recall her password and tried too many numbers now it is locked and we cant get it to do a thing. ugh!

How do I get into my if app? It says it's locked and when I put i my apple password it tells me it is to valid and locks me out. I tell it to repair it and it still doesn't work. I never changed it and I assume it should be the same as my apple password. Can some one please help me?
With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
what is the exact message? A screenshot of the message window would suffice.
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive? -

I locked the screen on a server and after a while it now says ARD Not Active, so i walked up to the server and it says the screen is locked by me . Now, can't I tell it ... 'hey, this is me, let me in' type a password or something.

So i can't click on the curtain since it says ARD is not active and if i try i get a connection failed, (same with observer and control).
I tried the kill command, first i tried -TERM to be "nice" to it and ask it to terminate but i noticed there was a reason you said -9. So i tried 9, it did die and i asked someone in the office to go check it out and the screen was still locked, did the ps again and it was back with a different pid

Is there a settings file where it will say it's locked and then maybe to a -HUP on the ARD process?

Iphoto says it is locked but it is not
When I try to open iphoto, it says it is locked. When I get info, the locked box is not checked.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

when intalling itunes i get message saying system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation; when trying to uninstall message says you do not have sufficient access to uninstall itunes please contact your administrator. i am the dministrator.

All clear? Hopefully. Backup your files to a external drive, cd or dvd, USB keye etc off your computer.

Next hit your BIO's key and set the cd to boot first, run the scanner and see what it pops up.
If your all clear then create another Admin, transfer your files over from the first Admin.
See if that works, eventually when your totally over to the new Admin, delete the old one.
If you can't create a new Admin, find out who locked your machine down, like your parents or it's a school computer?
Likely installed spyware or "nanyware" to watch you.

Back in 2009 I went through a terrible divorce. I became a single father and my credit took a huge hit. My exwife walked away from the kids and I. Money was tight raising 2 kids so i let my credit cards go. i had gotten those in 2011-2012. Since then Ive has no other forms of credit except the vehicles i financed.Those credit cards and a couple doctor bills ended up in collection. I have since paid them off reciently. I didnt kow about the PFD thing so i just paid them. It wasnt much 1700ish total.Now im trying to rebuild my credit, within the last month I have gotten 3 CC. I have had no CCsince 2011/12 1 for 300, 1 for 500, and a secured one for 1000 for my credit union. I have also went on as an authorized user on my wife now american epress 10,000 limit and her goodyear CC 2600 ( i dont know if this will help )I have tried to dispute some of the negitive things on my credit report and it pretty much all came back as comfirmed it belonged to me.This was hard on me as before i was able to pretty much get whatever I wanted and now with my credit score its almost impossible unless i put down a huge down payment I,E i put down 20,000 on my truck just to get finaced and still ended up with a 24,99 intrest rate.Ive been really tring to get these removed from my credit. they say they are do to fall off in 2019 but we are looking to hopefully by a home soon as with the combned family this one is a bit small. my fico8 scored ived gotten up to EQ 517 TU 489 EX 589 My advantage scores are EQ 519 TU 556 EX 556. These are coming from a low 400 score a little over a month ago.Ive read alot on the diffrences, am i allowed to ask a finacial instituation what they use as it seems my advantage score would really help me out. It was just a real difficult time in my life, and now im just trying to find a way to fix it. Divorce put a BK on my credit too that falls off in 2017.I know time will fix it but is there anything else i can do? also i will add i have 2 tax leins that are paid on my credit from 2010, im filling out the form to have those removed.I also have a judgement that i paid in full on my credit from 2012 from wells fargo. Im not exactly sure how to remove those, since 2012 i have had no new credit. everything i have bought has been cash. so my payment history sucks its why i really want to remove those 2 years of bad things.

I am trying to rebuild my iPhoto library and noticed my backup contains aliases (pointers?) and not the actual file. What's the best way to rebuild my library?
Facts:
In moving to a new iMac, I copied the iPhoto library to an external HDD assuming that I would point the new iMac to the backed up iPhoto Library
All worked fine when I pointed the new library but noticed that some folders contained aliases and not the original file. So when I attempt to open that photo it can't find it because the alias is pointing to another drive.
I do have all original photos from a couple of external HDDs. In the folders titled, "Originals" (from older versions of iPhoto) and "Masters" (from current iPhoto)
I'm thinking I can create a new folder and drop the original files and make that my new iPhoto library. Is there a better way to rebuild my library? I do not want to create any future aliases.
Thanks in advance for any help!do you have a strongly recommended default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or a referenced library - you have unchecked that option?
It sounds like you have a referenced library and are now experiancing one of the very siginificant drawbacks of a referenced library and one of the many reasons they are strongly not recommended
Also note that iPhoto '11 may use alises in the originals folder as part of the upgrade
It is important that we understand exactly what you have and what is not sorking - what error messages you are getting
You must NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure of content of the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it -- and you can not rebuild yoru librtary - only iPhoto ir iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - can rebuild a library unless you are a SQL programmer and understand the structure that iPhoto uses

After it downloads and i click the icon it says disk is locked and something about a license I have windows vista and i am the administrator
Which error are you getting? Are you getting the "locked disk" or the "cannot be found or created"?

my computer has some serious problems, my iphoto only shows only shows thumb size pics when I try to open them, i tried to rebuild my files from folders that had the pics in them. originally all the photos had a large delta with a question mark. also I can't back up the library file because its not there. I went to time machune and tried to find the file but I can't find it or I am looking in the wrong place. I also lost my Idvd file, only have broken chain showing.

This makes no sense at all - all of your previous statements indicate that you do have an iPhoto library but have some problems with it
By default your iPHoto library is located in your Pictures folder and is named iPhtoo library - if tha tis not the case the you have moved or renamed it and only you know what you did until you tell us the details
