TS1368 I downloaded the latest ITunes update, 10.6 I think. I can still sync my Ipod, but I can no longer access the Itunes Store.  No error message, it just keeps "accessing" but nothing shows up.  I've restarted my computer twice.

Ok... I just tried connecting my iPod directly to a USB port on the computer rather than via the USB hub I was using and everything is fine. Odd, but I'm happy now.

    The question for me becomes what motivation do I  (Apple's customer) have to download Autoruns from Windows, open a compressed folder, try to determine which Winsock Provider is mine, check for updates and then run whatever it is I need to run to fix this.  All these steps just so I can access the Itunes Store and buy from Apple.  It would seem that Apple would find a fix on their side so their customers don't have to do this.  Is anyone from Apple listening???

    You mean when you try to just start it?
    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

    However, your app data such as saved games will be lost unless you have a backup file from your old computer.

    Is the playlist in your iTunes library, or is it already on the shuffle (as a playlist)?
    If you created one or more playlists for your shuffle in your iTunes library (with the songs in the desired playlist order), you should set up automatic syncing.  Here's how to do that, if you have not already...
    NOTE:  If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
    Select the shuffle in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Near the top of the window, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click Music next to Summary.  This is the shuffle's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs. (Sorry if you know this already...)
    Check the box for Sync Music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  In your case, find and checkmark those playlists you want under Playlists.  When you click Apply, the songs on those playlists and the playlists sync to the shuffle. 
    When using your shuffle, the default playlist that you are using is the All Songs list.  To play songs in order, the shuffle's power switch needs to be set to the play-in-order (middle) position.  However, if you are playing from the All Songs list, the songs play in alphabetical order.
    To play from a particular playlist that is on the shuffle, you need to use VoiceOver to switch to that playlist.  This document explains how to set up and use VoiceOver on a shuffle

    I have an ipod touch and an ipad. Can I sync them to my computer so that each remains independant of the other. When I first attached the ipad to my computer the option to start as a new ipad or sync from my ipod's content were available. I did neither and just ejected the ipad. I guess my question is: if I choose to start as a new ipad will it wipe out the data from my ipod touch or will it create a new backup?

    I have three iDevices that I sync to one iTunes library and each device has its own unique content.
    If you are Windows - launch iTunes and go to Edit>Prefernces>Devices. Check the box at the bottom that says - Prevent iPods, iPhones, etc. ... From syncing automatically, click ok. Quit iTunes.
    Connect either of your devices to your computer and launch iTunes again. Click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading, now go into each and every tab of iTunes and select the content that you want to sync to that particular device. When you are done, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. iTunes will remember what you selected for that device the next time that you sync,
    Eject your device, connect the other one and do the same thing. If you want -- turn auto sync back on using the procedure outlined above.

    No error mmessages, no nothing. I simply get nothing. And I even downloaded the new windows 8.1 and even tried installing the latets super pack or whatever. WHen I hit download itunes, it goes to the Thanks for downloading itunes page, but nothing happens. It acts like it doesnt even try to open any files.... No apple files, nothing.... NOTHING HAPPENS. ***

    You would need to purchase the install disks for Snow leopard from Apple or another reseller.

    Make sure you are adding events to the iCloud calendar as that is the only one that syncs with iCloud.  Check your default calendar by going to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar.  Be sure you have selected the calendar listed under your iCloud account name as your default.
    If you're settings are correct and it still won't sync, try going to Settings>iCloud and turning Calendars to Off, then back On.  If the calendar in iCloud has all your events, when you are prompted about what to do with the iCloud calendar when you turn it off, choose Delete from My iPhone.  It will be synced back to your phone when you turn Calendars back to On.

    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

    Exact same problem with my 2010 MBP 2.4ghz 4gb ram 10.6.8. iTunes said update was needed, Software Update ran with various updates including a security update, truthfully didn't pay much attention, I always install the Apple updates. After the restart it took 3-4 times longer than normal to get to the login screen, same to get to the desktop but I'm familiar with that occurring on update restarts. Unfortunately it got worse from there. Performed a full shutdown and startup. Same long boot.  After the desktop finally loads every mouse button press received a 2 minute beachball. I use menu-meters and both processors are under 10%. Waited a few minutes for disk utilities to launch, repair permissions estimates 3 hours for a typical <10 minute process. Activity monitor shows nothing over 10% CPU most of the time however ReportCrash pops to the top often. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW zero problems until this update.

    If the place of purchase does not have a 'Lemon' policy (three replacements = refund or complete exchange), sadly you are out of luck.
    And Apple themselves do not have any power over what policy a reseller uses. You can call Apple Care and have them replace it, but the odds are you would probably get a standard replacement again like has previously happened. I'm pretty sure Apple holds their own sort of 'Lemon' polocy where if it's been replaced three times through them they'll swap it out for a brand new phone. Not 100% sure though, best bet is too call them again.
    And it ***** getting a response like that from their support personel, but hey, they can't all be that bad can they? I'm sure if you plead your case they'll try and help out. I've dealt with them in the past and had one or two people that rubbed me the wrong way, but most of them have been a great help and kept me a happy customer, haha.
