This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPod “Mac0217’s iPod”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?
If you do not authorize this computer, 117 songs, including “Der Kommissar”, will be removed from the iPod.
I have authorized the computer but keeps giving me the message above.
I recently had my mother board replaced but my hard drive was spared.  Ever since the replaced mother board I been getting this message.

You can't change the Apple ID that the Authorize dialog comes up with by default. It's showing you that Apple ID for a reason: it means that the items you want to play were purchased using that Apple ID and therefore you need to authorize your computer with that Apple ID. Changing the Apple ID given completely defeats the entire purpose.
If you don't know the password to the given Apple ID, then you will no longer be able to play those items.

  • HT1386 Hello, When trying to sync, I get the following message.  This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone "Terri George's iPhone". Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?

while trying to sync with my iphone I recieve the message: This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “Terri George’s iPhone”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?  When I put in my password and hit authorize, I get a message telling me there was an unknown error (-50).  Would love to sync today.  Any help would be appreciated.

The -50 error is documented in this article:
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    Here is a synopsis:
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.

  • I got a new PC. I was able to back up the old one and dowloaded my iTunes library. I keep getting a message that says: This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on this iPod."  It asks me to authorize, which I have done 20 ti

My old PC died and I got a new one.  I was able to back up the old PC and downloaded my iTunes library on the new PC.  I keep getting  a message saying: "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on this iPod.  Would you like to authorize this computer for the items purchased from the iTunes store?"   I have authorized the new PC, but it continues to ask me over and over, and if I authorize it again, it tells me I already authorized.  So frustrating!  I deactivated the old PC and activated the new one.
Also, I purchased a song from iTunes store and while it shows in my library on the PC, it won't download to the iPod.  Why won't the new song download to the iPod?
    Any ideas. suggestions?

    Well Authorize the Computer...........

  • This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items

When I plug in my iPod and iTunes starts syncing, I get the message "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPod '___'s iPod.' Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?"
When I then click Authorize, iTunes brings up an ancient iTunes ID that I haven't used in years. I do remember the password for it, though. However, that doesn't work. It says an error has occurred. When I enter my current (and longterm) iTunes ID and password, that also doesn't work (same error message). I've tried deauthorizing my Macbook but I get another error message. Worth noting--I don't get an error message when I log into iTunes through the store.
I don't think this is a problem with my iPod. I think it's an iTunes issue. (I could be wrong of course.) By the way, all of these songs should already be authorized. I haven't made any purchases lately, and syncing these songs previously has been no problem. It appears that the songs that are causing the trouble are DRM songs that I have yet to update (purchase an update from Apple, gee thanks, Apple) to non-DRM format.
    Please advise. Thanks!

This just happened to me too. I migrated my old mac to a new one. I was getting the same message "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPhone “_____”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?". when I try to sync any ios device.
This worked for me. ALL user id's for itunes in the computer need to be authorized for every account on this machine.
When I click authorize after getting the message above I noticed that the ID that showing was for my spouses account. I actually have two itunes accounts on this machine (me and my spouse).
If you look in your itunes folder check if you have more than one itunes account. Open iTunes with the "option" key pressed. Select the other account. Sign in using your email username and password for that account. Then authorize that one. Log out, close itunes, and reopen with "option" pressed. Select your main itunes account. Sign in again with your normal ID and password.
I'm all fine now. I hope this works for you too.

  • I am trying to sync my iPad to my computer.  When I do,  I am told that "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPad"

I am trying to sync my iPad to my computer.  When I do, using either WiFi or USB connection, I receive the following message: "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPad "XXX".  Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?" I have deauthorized and reauthorized repeatedly, and even trashed the SC folder, but the symptom continues.  I am using OS 10.9.3. iOS 7.1.1, and iTunes 11.2.2. Suggestions/solutions would be welcome!

A link in the article that Texas Mac Man provided has several troubleshooting steps for "repeated requests for authorization":
iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
Take a look to see if any of those steps will clear up you issue.

  • Computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items on your iPhone

I am all of a sudden getting an alert "this computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPhone “Bob's iPhone 5”. Would you like to authorize this computer...?"
No changes or deauthorization were done to Mac before this alert. Worked fine this morning.
When I try to reauthorize it tells me I already am authorized, and then cycles back to the alert window telling me I am not authorized.  Same for my iPhone 5 and my iPad.
    Any thoughts?

    Hey there,
You discussion came up in a search for the same error message that milepost included in the start of this thread.
I have the same error message across multiple devices that my family uses.   It is intermittent and once I put my password in for the account it comes up with a window that says something to the effect that all 5 of 5 computers have been authorized for this account - but it seems to carry on after that.
I just wanted to add that I am seeing a similar message and do not recall anything that has changed to cause it.  We are a multi iOS family but so I just wanted to confirm that the limit of 5 refers to computers - not to the number of iOS devices that may be managed on the computers - is that correct?

  • TS1389 when i changed my browser to IE 8, I am no longer able to play the songs I purchased. I keep getting a dialog box saying "this computer is not authorized to play this song. Would you like to authorize it? The box has an old apple ID . How do I get

I try to play the Itunes song I purchased. I have a new computer, another internet provider since I purchased the songs, and have switched to a new internet browser Internet Explorer 8. I keep getting a dialog box saying "this computer is not authorized to play the song. would you like to authorize it?
An old Apple ID popps up and I am asked for the old passwork which I no longer remember. I successfully changed to a new Apple ID and password.
when I enter that, a new dialog box appears, saying "this computer is already authorized." When I try to play the song the first box appears again,
I I go round over and over, with no success playing my songs. Can anybody out their resolve this? Thanks for any help

Were these songs purchased using another account?
" I opened a new iTunes account and copied the files to the new account.  "
Do you mean to a new library?
Account is a user neame and password with which you purchase content.
A library is your collection of media.

  • This computer is no longer Authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPhone

I just moved all my files from my old PowerBook Pro to my new PowerBook Pro which came with Lion pre-installed.  Everything has worked fine except that when I try to sync my iPhone to my Power Book, I get a popup box saying that "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPhone.  Would you like to authorize the computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?"  It also warns me that if I do not authorize this computer, 132 items will be removed from the iPhone.  When I tell it to authorize, it then tells me that the computer is already authorized, and then I get the same message again.  I have tried deauthorizing my new computer, then try syncing again.  I tell it to authorize, it tells me that authorization was successful.  Then I get the same popup and message telling me that this computer is no longer authorized.  I have deauthorized the old computer.
Would appreciate any suggestions you might have.
    Thank you,

    Yup,

I "deauthorized" my old MBP and still told I cannot use my iPhone with iTunes.
Interesting that my old $2500 MBP, my new $3000 MBP and my $500 iPhone all cannot work cuz of some pinhead's decision to use this assorization process.
