TS1394 i cannot install macfuse and ntfs 3g on my mac os x (version 10.4.11). cannot read my external hard disk

I have a mac os x (vers Op. syst. 10.4.11). I purchased an external hard disk, but i cannot copy files into it, it says " cannot b midified", it is in read only. I then downloaded Macfuse and NTFS 3 G on my mac but couldnt install : the image is mounted on the dsktop but when i clicon the pkg file to installnothing hapens. I also tried to format the external hard disk onmy mac but i didnt find the " Disk utility" application! is it normal? checked with the spotlight but nothing it is not in there !
Please need help urgently.

Reinstall MacFuse with the one from http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse-core-10.5-2.1.9.dmg. If that doesn't work, you can use Paragon NTFS for Mac 9.0 which has been designed to work with Lion.

I Mini with an i7 processor. I would like to use Boot Camp to install windows based CAD software on my MAC. Would it be better to use a plugin external hard drive to load my software on and if so what hard drive would you recommend?
Thank you for your quick response. I can then use a ZIP drive for data storage. I want to keep as much of my hard drive free of data as possible.

Unable to Switch to Windows after installing Macfuse and NTFS 3G
I just put those two pieces of software on my Mac and now when I go into start up drives there is only my Mac drive no windows drive. And when I restart and hold option nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas?
By the way if you dont know what those applications are for they allow you to copy files from the Mac to the PC with drag and drop.I agree with khassani that there should be no disruption of the OPTION key booting nor the use of Startup Disk to switch boot volumes. Something else is at play. OPTION booting is part of the ROM which means it should function even if no OS is installed. If you cannot even get to the boot manager screen, then it indicates a problem with the keyboard. Any chance you switched the keyboard map?
If you check the console log is there any indication there of something awry? -
I cannot read a external hard disk in mac computer!
I am using a 60G portable Samsung harddisk for working with my present acer laptop and some mac computers A few weeks ago. It works perfectly well whenever i plugged in my portable harddisk into the mac computers. They couol detect the harddisk and i could work with it.
but suddenly, i don't know why these days, all the apple computers(mac) are no longer able to detect the portable harddisk. (but at the meanwhile, it still works well with my acer laptop). I've tried many mac computers but still fail to work.
could you please kindly answer my question? thank you.Make a backup of the data and re-format in FAT32.

Hard Drive Not Mounting NTFS Tried MacFuse and NTFS-3G
Issue:
Mac OS X Tiger
- External HD NTFS Formatted (Win XP)
- Does not mount, but shows in Disk Utility (running on USB2.0)
Ran Disk Utility's Verify Disk:
Invalid B-tree node size
The volume needs to be repaired.
Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit
1HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair
Repair Disk:
same errors above
but under HFS volume check shows 1 volume could not be repaired because of an error
I've tried installing Macfuse and NTFS-3G and FinkCommander. I've tried running terminal commands offered on various sites.
I don't have Bootcamp.
I believe this hard drive was connected to my pc (win xp) when it may have crashed on me. I think its a recovery issue because I run a 4 bay usb hd box that probably wasnt plugged in when this happened, and those hard drives can be seen my this mac. The crashed computer's hard drive and this external hard drive are the only ones not being read. Can somebody help me? Thanks.
PS- I ran a demo of Boomerang and showed all my files on this external hard drive. It was all under the Regular tab, not the Lost tab.
I have techtool pro as well. I just got it yesterday,and I'm not sure if it's supposed to fix this stuff.
Do I need one of the recovery programs out there like Diskwarrior, DataRescue, Boomerang, etc etc?Is it possible that your hard drive is full enough that there was not enough space on it to complete the reinstall of OS X 10.4?
You may have partial installs of the OS on the hard drive which have totally filled the drive. This is not a certainty, just a possibility, but it could explain why there is no error report on the drive.
Do you have access to another Mac with FireWire? If so, you can try to use FireWire Target Disk Mode with your iBook as the Target Disk to see if you can retrieve your data to the other Mac's hard drive.

i used MiniTool Mac data to recovery! actually b4 tat i'm using hp computer and i saved all my files in my external hard disk. I have an iPhone 4S, with the latest OS, 5.01 I believe it is. Most everything is great except everytime I have updates to download and install through the app store, I get a message saying "cannot install livingsocial and 6 other apps." The issue is that I only had livingsocial for a couple weeks then deleted it. That was a few weeks ago. Also I have no idea what the other 6 are. All my updates install fine, I just keep getting this message. And livingsocial and whatever the other 6 apps are never show up in the updates section, I just keep getting the stupid message. I click ok and it goes away. How do I get it to stop trying to install these apps? I've seen a ton of information about something similar happening on sync, but my issue is occurring during AppStore updates for which I can find no information!
That seems like a really odd coincidence that both ours say "and 6 other apps." As far as the app waiting thing, I've never tried tapping it twice, but I would hold down til all the apps started shaking to move or delete, but this one is the only one with no x for delete, so when I tap it nothing happens. I have tapped it repeatedly but never exactly twice. But after a short while, no matter what I do, it will just disappear on its own. In fact, I saw your "tap twice" message very soon after you posted it and was going to try it, but it had already disappeared by then.

What are you actually trying to do? Why do you need "DVD size" folders if you're creatng an Archive on an external hard drive?
Also, I understand burning folders instead of individual photos or albums gives you more space on a DVD.
It makes no difference at all.
How can I keep the captions on my photos (not events) when I print or transfer to a new folder?
You can export while writing the metadata to the file in most cases.
Tne only way I know is to copy photos from the Windows to folders on my HD, then copy and paste photos or albums or events to HD, then create a new folder and fill it to the appropriate DVD size.
HD? Another HD? You use HD there in a way that makes no sense. What's the point of 'DVD size'?
I also thought I should download future photos to my Canon programming that comes with EOS cameras and edit and then decide which photos to save to iPhoto library and which to save only to my archival HD?
Does this have any relation to the previous questions? You know you can delete from iPhoto, right?
You're somewhat confused and you need to
1. Decide what exactly you want to do
2. Then go about it.
If I understand you correctly - and there's no guarantee that I do - the easiest thing is to bring all your Photos into iPhoto and do everything from there.
You can have an archive on an external disk, you can sort and select and edit with or via iPhoto

I have a 1TB WD external hard disk, which suddenly cannot be detected in my system. When i connect the hardisk to the macbook, the disk appears and immediately disconnects with the message "Disk not properly ejected". Any advice ?
verify on another Mac if the same
WD is having issues with mavericks as you can see on the WD forum, did you install any WD software (never do that) when you connected the drive for the first time?
possible issue is a dead SATA bridge card or the new WD firmware w/ Mavericks.

Recently upgraded Mac 24" to Lion (clean install) and now no external hard disks work with Time Machine.
installed new internal disk first with fresh 10.7.3 Lion software. Also upgrade ram to 4GB. Work great, super fast.
BUT.... my WD 1TB firewire400 external disks no longer work with the Lion enabled machine now.
FURTHER... I read somewhere that WD is problematic with Lion but Seagate was not... so I went and bought a new 3TB Seagate GoFlex.
When it didnt work properly either, I patiently searched and found a software/firward upgrade and applied.
I re-partitioned disk to extened/journaled standard, etc.
Then assigned the particition to Time Machine. Drive turned the blue/grey color, so I thought it would work.
But, it has now been in "preparing" mode in Time Machine for HOURS....
What is up Apple? So dissappointed. Ive read these type of problems are notorious with Lion and I wish I never upgraded.
Are you trying to make issues with External disks, to drive people to iCloud? That trick ont work in me. I will not reward bad behaviour Apple.
Please provide a fix... I wasted hours/days screwing around with this, instead of using the Mac for what its intended!Solved by Pondini, on another thread I opened...

Sounds like either:
A directory problem on your internal HD. Verify your internal HD, and Repair any other volumes being backed-up per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
Something in OSX may be damaged. You've tried the "combo," so a fresh copy of OSX (that won't disturb anything else) would be worth a try (and you don't need a tech for that). See Installing the ''combo'' update and/or Reinstalling OSX. -

which model MacBook Pro do you have? If I understand you correctly, you have already made a successful OS X Internet recovery to your internal disk, and now you would like to install Lion on an external disk. Was it Lion that you had successfully downloaded and installed to your internal disk? -

It sounds as if you downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you did, uninstall it. Then repair Adobe Reader.
The free Acrobat account has no connection to any of this.
