TS1468 I bought songs from the same album at two different times on an iPod touch. After syncing to iTunes and following this article, they are still seperate. How can I fix this?

One album has 4 songs and the other has 3. The album artist, album name and "show" are all the same and they both have "part of a compilation" checked, but they are still two seperate compilations.

apparently no oone knows..  well I went to a genius bar and they figured it out.   Solution for this: Make an appointment at your local Apple store with the Genius Bar.     Thanks for nothing people here

  • Songs from the same album downloaded at separate times are shown as being in a completely different album?

I'm not sure why this is happening because I did not download these songs from anywhere but iTunes and I checked the album title to make sure they match so they should link together. This has happened to several ablums now and it's gotten really annoying.

    Also check all have identical:
artist (unless they are supposed to be different)
    disc number
    album artist
    disc count
    compilation flag
    artist
Try getting info on all tracks involved and re-type the album and artist names with an extra letter, close, then change them all back to the correct one

  • Songs from the same album listed in different places in itunes

When I look through the music list, a number of songs are listed in several places; not grouped together under the album name.

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.

  • When I copied my cd collection to my iTunes account, I use the view by CD option in the viewer. How can I get songs from the same album to show nder the same view, instead of making it a separate thing?

How can i fix this problem with songs from the same album, not being organized under the same  when they are from the same CD?

Thank you... just read up on iTunes Match.   That stinks, paying a yearly thing... but I understand everyone has to make a dollar.  I think I'm better off just picking the best songs out of my collection storing them on my computer or iPhone then selling my CD's to some used CD place.   If I ever really want to hear a song there are multiple options and if I want it... the .99 to 1.29 option is always there.
    Thank you for the information

  • How to keep songs from the same album together in the Walkman app?

How do I keep songs from the same album together in one album instead of it being spilt up into three different albums? Is there any way to keep this from happening? I have all of the correct album information, but it still happens. I thought I would use Media Go and see if it helps but it never works properly.
Any suggestions would be much appreicated.

Make sure your Album information in mp3 tags is all the same in all tracks belonging to the same album.
Clear the cache memory of Storage Media service
    https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/WALKMAN/Multiple-Song-and-playlist-appear/m-p/732329?sl=y&sso_no_log=...
If, despite having the same album information in mp3 tags and clearing cache memory, you still get multiple entries or songs belonging to the same album are split into 2-3 albums, then I suggest an easy way.
Use Winamp and create an *.m3u playlist in the same directory you have the mp3 files stored in your phone. This playlist will then appear in Playlists - My Playlists and you will be able to enjoy your music in correct order of tracks and all the tracks will be there.
That is my method (using m3u Winamp playlists) simply because Walkman app does not respect the Track Number tag in mp3 files belonging to the same album and rather sorts the tracks within the same album based on Date Created.

  • Songs from the same album not grouped together

Sometimes when I import songs from the same album, they do not show up grouped together. I will end up with several entries, with one or two songs each. Sometimes the correct album art is on each one, and sometimes not. How can I stop this from happening, and how can I correct it if it does?

  • Songs from the same album appearing as coming from different albums

I am having trouble grouping multiple songs into one album. In my iTunes, there are songs from the same album that are appearing as from separate albums. For some reason, it is only happening in rare cases. It has randomly split The Roots' album How I Got Over into 3 separate albums, and it has split every Outkast song into individual albums.
And yes, I have already tried the basic steps of selecting all the songs I want to group, and editing their info together. I have done this, and ticked every box in the info fields so they will be identical. Yet they are still appearing as songs coming from separate albums.
Does anyone know what I can do? (I am using the current version of iTunes -- v9.2.0.61)

Actually there is something else, more for the purists though.
Some albums will have "featured" artists and they will be stuck into another part of the tag, but by doing that iTunes thinks it's another artist and treats it as a different album. A good fix that I use is to remove the featured artist and ammend it to the track name. So: "When You're Gone (feat. Mel C)" Is the actual track name instead of "When you're Gone" and the artist being "Mel C" and the album artist being "Bryan Adams". Make sense?
By turning it into a compilation it will change where it appears on your iPod or whatever, basically it will be grouped with all other compilations, not where the artist should be.

  • ITunes splits songs from the same album into several albums, all sort fields appear to match. Any suggestions on how to put them in one album?

N.B. Giving different things the same sort value (or indeed vice versa) tends to lead to trouble.

  • Sorting Songs From the Same Album but Different Artists

I have the Warped Tour 2014 Compilation CD. I want all of the songs on this album to be grouped into the same album. I know I could do this by giving them the same album artist, but here's my problem: When I do that, it separates songs by an artist from other songs by the same artist. One of the artists on the album is Less Than Jake. I have other music by Less Than Jake, and I want this song to be grouped with their other songs, which doesn't work if I change the album artist. I want the song to stay in the compilation album but also grouped with other songs by the same artist. How can I do this?

Stick with using the correct Album Artist for the album.
Visit the Songs > Column Browser view and untick View > Column Browser > Use Album Artists. This should allow all of the Less Than Jake songs to be listed under the artist.

  • ITunes puts dividing lines between songs from the same album...

I can't stand it. I open the "get info" box, look at EVERY detail and the only difference is the names of the songs. I even select all of them, open "get info" and make SURE the details are all the same and hit "save". Yet iTunes seemingly haphazardly sets some tracks apart from the bulk of the album. WHY???? How can I fix this?

I had the same issue with one CD (Niafunke, by Ali Farka Toure, if it matters): I found the solution here...
    http://www.technipages.com/itunes-album-songs-split-up-in-grid-view.html
I selected all the tracks and then added a blank space (i.e. one click of the spacebar, rather than null) for "Album Artist"; that finally collected them all in one album, whereas before Track #01 had remained stubbornly separate, even though I'd checked every last bit of metadata to be the same.
After it was all happily together, I re-set the "Album Artist" to null - what it'd been before! - thus restoring all the data to what it had been; yet now the album was unified.
I have no idea WHY this worked - I'd checked "Album Artist" as totally empty again and again, but somehow giving it a positive value seemed to provide the necessary reset.

  • Songs from the same album are split in iTunes after import

I just installed iTunes 8 and had it automatically import my unprotected WMA files. When browsing the albums in iTunes I noticed that several albums had been split into 2 or more albums. I did some digging around on the Forums and found out why and that the solution was to mark the songs as being a part of a compilation.
I followed the instructions here (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1468). E.g. one album was showing as 5, so I selected the songs, did a Get Info, then Options tab -> Part of a compilation = Yes. I have "Group compilations when browsing" turned on in the Advanced tab of the Preferences dialog.
Yet when I browse by album, the songs are still showing in 5 albums.
    Any ideas?

There is something different about the tags to create this condition. I have run across it many times. The solution should be as follows:
Select all of the items on one album, even if they are listed as 5 albums. Right click, then Get Info. You might see that some of the info on the multiple items info screen is missing. This is because at least one of the songs is different than the rest. You should use this screen to ensure the Artist and Album fields are exactly identical, and that the Compilations button (on the options tab) is the same for all the songs on the one album. By entering info on the multiple items info screen, you change all of the info for each song. This is particularly important for anything you did not directly import into iTunes from the CD - the previous import or copy did not didn't ensure these tags were the same.
Post your results - I'd be interested in knowing if this helped.

  • ITunes separates songs from the same album

when I import some CDs, iTunes doesn't recognize the songs as being part of the same album. How do I solve this?

    Hi there Luis,
I would recommend that you review the process for importing CDs in iTunes 11 found in the article below.

  • Why are songs from the same album being separated in my library?

My library is currently sorted by "Album by Artist." I have 5 songs from a particular album and the library is grouping only 4 of them together, while singling out and listing 1 song separately, just beneath the other 4 songs. The text in the Artist, Album Artist, and Album fields are exactly identical for all 5 songs, so why is 1 being singled out? I've tried quitting and restarting iTunes (version 9.1.1) and this doesn't solve the problem.

If you read the Grouping tracks into albums article you will see that this technique is just one among many and only works in particular circumstances. There will, no doubt, be other steps that you need to take to merge the tracks into a single cover in this case.

  • Why does itunes separate the songs in the same album into two albums with the exact same info?

i have this album in my itunes thats shown as two, they both have the exact same info, artwork, and the files are even in the same album folder, but they just appear as two albulms. the first one has only track8 and the second one has all the other tracks? how can i fix this plz?

Sometimes iTunes does that. What I find often works is to add an "x" onto the end of all the artist and album names for the problem album, save it, then remove it again.  If that doesn't work, try setting an album artist.  I have also toggled problem albums as compilations even though they aren't, but some don't like using compilation.
