I shot a video with the camera on an iPad and want to transfer a copy to a new iPad Mini to take advantage of the retina display. I can see it in a photo stream, but it won't let save it to the new iPad. The old iPad didn't have enough memory to work on an iMovie, so I need to get the video in the new iPad mini to put it in an iMovie project.
Okay, I figured out that Windows has "AutoPlay" settings which can automatically download photos and videos from a newly connected device, such as an iPad Mini. I think I could open it in Windows Explorer too that way but the auto download solved my problem.

Tap the Photos icon in the Dock at the bottom of of the screen.
If you don't see the photos there, tap Settings > iCloud
Turn Photo Stream off then back on then restart your iPad.
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off. After it is off, press the power button to turn it back on -
Can someone explain the icloud to me please? Where are all my old pictures and how can I see them? Photostream only holds 1000 and when I sync my icloud to my mac it only imports what is on my photo stream.
When you enable photo stream on your Mac, in imports photos currently in your photo stream. However, photo stream only keeps photos for 30 days, even though up to 1000 photos will remain on your device until you delete them. When you enable photo stream on your Mac, you will only receive photos added in the last 30 days, as the others are no longer in your photo stream.
If you want to get all your old photos on your Mac, save them to your camera roll (if they aren't already there) by opening your photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll. Once they are in your camera roll, import them to your Mac as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Another option would be to create a shared photo stream containing the older photos and invite yourself (as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmc0cd7e99). Then check Shared Photo Streams in iPhoto>Preferences>Photo Stream and you will see this shared photo stream on your Mac. -

If you get OpenDNS, you can log into their website for free and set parental controls on things like inappropriate sites for children. So whatever device is used on your network can't access a large portion of those sites (nothing is perfect) by most users who are not technical oriented.
What your doing now is running the bare bones unsecure router which can be used harmfully against you.
Even a Apple Airport router has to be very well secured. The defautl cd and out of the box setup is not a secure solution. -
I accidentally deleted a picture app(hipstamtic) that wasn't downloading pics to my photo stream but my phone backed up last night over wifi - how can I revert my phone to that back up?
Depending on what kind of computer you have, you're gonna need to put that backup in the appropriate folder or itunes is not gonna be able to see it for you to use.

There's no way to delete all message threads at one go. You can however do one contact thread at a time.
In Messages app where you see a list of messages from different contacts, tap Edit (top left), tap the red (on the left), then tap the red Delete button on the right. -

iCloud is not designed to "store" photos (as in long term storage). iCloud can be used to sync photos from one device to another (photo stream) and to store a backup of the camera roll. But that's pretty much it.
Camera roll is the group of all photos taken by the device (but not other photos synced to the device from another source). Your extra storage on icloud will do you no good. The recommended way of storing photos on a device is to sync them to a computer.
So, your questions..

3) On a computer, deleting large groups of photos is relatively painless. not so on a device.
4) You can't access photos on iCloud because they can't be store in icloud. You can't view/access photos in a backup on icloud unless you restore a backup to a device.

Make sure you have iPhoto's Photo Stream preferences set as follows:
What happens when you drag photos from the Photo Stream window in iPhoto onto the Events icon in the left hand pane? That should import the photos into the library.

1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).

Lately I've been importing photos from my iPhone to iPhoto and when I attempt to edit them they seem to disappear. Some reappper as a photo stream pic (some as the edited version and some not). But they no longer appear as a recent import. Lots more happens and I'm wondering if it's because I have a 5-year old Mac book or iPhoto is having issues. I'm not happy with disappearing photos especially after I've deleted them from my iphone after importing them to my macbook.
Has anyone experienced similar difficulties and what can I do?Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :

When did this deletion happen? Which version of iOS 8 do you have on your iPad? Depending on your settings you may not see My Photo Stream on the iPad any longer. With iOS 8 "My Photo Stream" will only show on the iPad, if you did not enable iCloud Photo Library (Beta).

How do I delete photos from My Photo Stream?
You can delete photos from your photo stream the same way you delete other photos from your iOS device or Mac. Just select the photos you want to remove, then tap the trash icon or click Delete. On your PC, select the photos you want to remove from your photo stream, right-click, then select delete. When you delete a photo from My Photo Stream on one device, it will be removed from the Photos tab and your albums and iCloud. Photos imported from My Photo Stream to other devices won’t be deleted. Learn more about deleting photos.
What happens to my photos if I turn off My Photo Stream?
If you sign out of iCloud or turn off My Photo Stream on an iOS device, all the photos in the My Photo Stream album are removed from that device. Any photos from My Photo Stream that were imported to the Recently Added album and the Photos tab will also be removed. The photos from My Photo Stream on your other devices aren't affected. Photos from My Photo Stream are saved on the iCloud server for 30 days from the date you uploaded them to My Photo Stream. If you sign in to iCloud with the same Apple ID and turn on My Photo Stream on another device, those photos will automatically download to this device.

Using iCloud to Photo Stream but nothing else
My wife and I both have iPhones (her a 4 and me a 4s). I would like to enable Photo Stream for both our phones but I believe that means we both would need to use the same iCloud account, correct? I do not want my contacts or vice versa (we both use our phones for work as well) to sync with hers. I believe if I connect to iCloud with the same ID from both phones all contacts will sync as well, correct?

If you both sync data such as contacts or calendars to the same iCloud account, the data will be merged and you will both end up with each others information on your phone as well as your own. To prevent this you either have to sync with different iCloud accounts, or don't sync your data with the shared account. Also, if you want to have the same photo stream on both phones they need to share the same iCloud account. You can set up the same iCloud account on both phones and enable just photo stream and this will accomplish what you want.
With iOS 6, you also have the option of maintaining different iCloud accounts and still send a shared photo stream album to others. When you do this, you select the photos you want to add to the shared photo stream album from your photo stream, but the other person can't add to it. Your wife could similarly send a shared photo stream album to you, but you could not add to this album. So it's not quite the same thing as sharing an iCloud account and the same photo stream, where photos taken by both of you will be added to the album and either of you can delete photos from the album, but I thought I would mention this as an option.
