TS1702 What to do when you get "iTunes library app not installed on iPhone; app could not be found"

What to do when you get "iTunes library app not installed on iPhone; app could not be found". None of the Apple suggestions fix the problem. For example, with Animoto, one of the problem apps, I have removed it, reinstalled it, and still get the eoor message.

Of course.
First of all, this started when an external drive i was using died on me. I have no doubt that these apps indeed are off my system. I figure between the apps I've bought for myself and my kid, I have about 150 apps.
Now. The issue.
When I sync my iPad with iTunes on my desktop, it goes through normally until it gets to the apps. When that happens, it get an error box that reads "Some of the apps in your iTunes library were not installed on the iPad because one or more errors occurred. For a list of appps that could not be installed, click on the triangle below."
Then I get a list of apps.
(Added note to any iTunes developers out there: The titles of the apps in this list do not always match the titles of the apps in the App Store. For example, one was called "MuseumGame" on my iPad. It's called "Museum of Thieves" on the App Store. I started out with a list of 60 apps. It was a major pain to track them all down. It would be nice to have everything the same so I can use the App Store search more effectively.)
Anyway, moving on....
The error message stops my sync until I dismiss it. That, honestly, is what makes this whole thing annoying enough to seek out an answer. I can't let my iPad start syncing and walk out of the room. Yeah. I know. First World problems.
Once I dismiss the error, the sync continues and all is well.
I did the following to try to fix the problem. Mostly, I did a lot of searches:
My list of purchased apps on my iPad both using the search box and by going to every page
Searched the main App Store on my iPad using the search field. When that didn't work, I used wider searches and just scanned the page(s) for the little cloud icon that showed I had purchased the app.
I got on my desktop iTunes and searched the apps from there (without a lot of hope, but trying to be complete)
At that point, I came to the conclusion that a small number of the apps are no longer available on the App Store.
Fine. I didn't want them anyway.
I got into iTunes and went to the Apps page. None of the errant apps showed up there. I searched the iTunes help files. Nothing. I crossed my fingers, said a little prayer to the search engine gods, and tried Google. I found some things that sort of matched but they basically boiled down to "re-download the app from the App Store" or "Restore your iPad".
So I spent a couple of hours restoring my iPad. I got the error message again. I hit Google again and came up with this thread. It was as close to my problem as I found.
I think that brings us up to date.
My fundamental problem is that I seem to have found a scenario where if you have to restore apps (because, perhaps, your external drive died) and some of the apps are no longer available for download, there is an error generated that can not be permanently dismissed.
Did I miss anything important?

You can extract the drive; put it into an external enclosure to mount it to another computer by USB or FireWire (if available) to acess the files. Copy and paste (Windows-style) or drag and drop (Mac-style) to another destination-- another external HDD or another computer.

On your profile, you say that you are using Mountain Lion. Is that correct? If you are using Mountain Lion, you don't have to download the Mountain Lion installer again.
Also, that error is usually caused by problems with your Internet connection or your hard disk, so first, open Disk Utility, select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and verify the disk. If it's OK, you have problems with your Internet connection, so contact with your ISP

  • What to do when you get a StreamNotFound error for RTMP

One of the problems that often comes up when integrating with a CDN is that some CDNs expect the FMS application instance name to be included in the URL, and others don't.  There's no way to inspect an RTMP URL and determine which approach a CDN uses, you really need to know this information when constructing the URL.  If you get it wrong, then you'll get a StreamNotFound error.  Two CDNs in particular that expect this parameter to be set to true are Limelight and EdgeCast (though there may be more).
OSMF attempts to solve this by allowing the client to specify the CDN's approach (via StreamingURLResource.urlIncludesFMSApplicationInstance). So if you're getting a StreamNotFound error, try setting this param to true.  We've gotten numerous questions about specific streams failing, and  often the case is that the client didn't realize that their CDN requires  this parameter to be set to true.
(The rest of this post describes a way that CDNs can make this work even if the client doesn't set the param to true.)
However, there is a way that the CDN, via its plugin, can ensure that the client will never get it wrong.  The gist of the solution is that the CDN plugin can force this parameter to be true.  I've posted an example of how to do this
here.  The posted class is a subclass of ProxyElement.  To use it, the CDN plugin would include this class and return it as the wrapper for the MediaElement that they would normally return.  For example, if a MediaFactoryItem in the plugin has the following function for its mediaElementCreationFunction:
    private function createVideoElement():MediaElement
         return new VideoElement();
then they could change it to this:
    private function createVideoElement():MediaElement
          return new UseInstanceProxyElement(new VideoElement());
Doing so will ensure that the parameter is always set to true, even if the client didn't set it.

Has this worked for you before, or is this the first time you have tried to capture from this device?
What is the device you are using? Is it a firewire attached deck or camera? Is it plugged in and turned on and attached to your computer?

  • How do you get iTunes to SYNC your videos to iphone??

How do you do this? My itunes refuses to do this... I just upgraded to itunes8 and I still have the same problem... I've already upgraded to the 2.1 on the iphone... I bought and paid for this video through itunes.... so what's the problem??????

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the notes you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone'  or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device, or the left side panel in mail on a computer), non iCloud notes will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your notes are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking notes syncing (mail and notes on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

    So:
How do I get iTunes Helper to run again?
How do I get the iTunes update to version 7.6 to successfully install?
    Thank you for your help.

Before reinstalling everything, I'm curious if you've ever used your System Configuration Utility on your computer? Click Start > Run and type msconfig. Click OK. Is the option for 'selective startup' selected? If so, click the Startup tab and make sure iTunesHelper and qttask are selected, and then click the Services tab and make sure iPodService and AppleMobileDevice are selected.
If that is not the case, I would recommend removing everything and reinstalling.
My recommended technique is as follows:
Go into Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
    Remove these applications:
    1. Apple Software Update
    2. Apple Mobile Device Support
    3. iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, either way, it's not needed so we can remove it)
    4. iTunes
    5. QuickTime
    Restart the computer
Download & Install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Launch the Utility: Start > Programs > Windows Install Clean Up
Select any of the above mentioned applications, and click Remove
    Restart the computer again
Download & install iTunes again from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • ITunes does not install properly, 'iPod Service' could not be installed

During an iTunes update to latest version. The update failed, I downloaded manually and reinstalled but it still failed. I remove all apple applications from the PC. redownloaded iTunes and reinstalled again. This time I got the message 'Service 'iPod Service'(iPod Service) could not be installed. etc'.
I am an administrator I can install services.
I am using Windows XP Service Pack 3, using Norton Internet Security as a virus protection and firewall. Norton has been installed for 6 months and iTunes has been updating okay until the current update.

I've got the same problem. What's with Apple? You'd think they could send out an update that works. But, that hasn't happened in years. Tell us what to do, Apple! This is ridiculous!

  • Can not activate 3g iPhone "We could not complete your iTunes Store request

I am unable to activate my new 3g iPhone. The AT&T store said they could not get to itunes either it was down. I had to activate at home. Now I can not even use my new 3g iPhone
    I get the message
"We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The Network connection timed out." My internet connection is fine. I have spoke to original iPhone users and they can not connect in fact one has a bricked phone that can not be used right now.
Anyone have any ETA for when this will be resolved? I assume iTunes can not handle the load of all the users?

I just had the same problem - I was trying to upgrade, the phone went through all it's stuff, then couldn't connect to iTunes. Sounds like Apple is once again taken aback by user demand... huh.
I wish Apple would stop people from trying to update if they can't accommodate. I now have an unusable phone, and would have been happy to wait a few days to upgrade the software if I had known... should have guessed after all the trouble I had when I bought it last year, but I thought they would have learned!

  • What to do when you get an error message about data execution prevention

i have windowsXP and i downloaded Itunes now that i try to open itunes i'm getting an error message about Data Execution Prevention. Please let me know what to do to be able to open itunes...

You came from the correct article. Here is what it has to say about that error.

Follow the steps to troubleshoot security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or phobos.apple.com isn't blocked by a firewall or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under "Advanced steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw)" below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.
    Restore using a different computer.

Yesterday, I downloaded the twoignite app. When I went to open the app to use, this error message appeared: An error occurred connecting to the server.
