Even after resetting my password, I still get message "your apple id has been disabled". How am I suppose to download updates or make purchases?
Try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it
If having changed your password and having logged out and back in doesn't fix it then you might need to contact Apple : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

iTunes is updated and works fine and I am able to log onto my account. When I go to purchase a song, I get the error message "Your Apple ID has been disabled". I've tried different methods: changing passwords, making a new account with another email address, and emailing itunes tech support. I just realized today that the charges are not fraudulent, they are "in app purchases." One of my daughters downloaded the game Top Girl which is FREE, but in the game Top Girl you use money in the game to purchase things. It just so happens that the money you use to purchase things is real money MY Money!!!. My daughter thought she was using play money in the game and had no idea she was using real money. She spent $106.00 buying stuff. Now I have to call the bank and tell them to release the hold and pay Itunes. I'm hoping this solves the problem. That won't help. You need to contact iTunes support so they can re-enable your account. They only work via email or live chat: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html

I have 2 ipad 2s. On the newer one I could log in and update to IOS 5 withno problem. On the older one I get the message "Your Apple ID has been disabled." No other explanation. Why can I log in on one ipad and I'm disabled on the other?
Well, I spoke too soon. Yes, I'm using the same account on both iPads, but I just changed my password for the umpteenth time and now I get the disabled message on both iPads. Just yesterday I was able to upgrade one to IOS 5 but got the error message on the other. I'm getting more confused by the minute.
