Apple should update the TS2481 instructions.

After I sent this initial post I did some more testing.
Creating a new Smart Group in my now working 10.5.5 address book which has a NOT conditional caused Address Book to lock-up again.
My Smart Group was pretty simple -- 'list all cards that are NOT a member of any group'.
So, the steps in the posting above do NOT fix the problem, they only identify a particular type of Smart Group which will cause a problem and how to get a version of Address Book working again.
I have not gone back and undertaken a thorough set of tests. I am just not going to create any new Smart Groups without first creating an Address Book Archive -- or alternatively overriding Library/Application Support/AddressBook from a Time Machine backup if there is a problem.

I have an address book and it contains one list in Outlook. I just downloaded Thunderbird and imported my address book. The address book and one list imported very easily but there are anywhere from 3-5 entries for each person in my contacts. If I delete the extras they are removed from my list as well. as I was looking thru pictures in my finder I noticed there were several copies of the same pictures I had taken yesterday. I just went thru all Seven copies of the pictures (accidental pics of my hands and the desk etc) and right clicked and moved them to trash, then I thought I'd look it up when I realized its not just these pics, but very many had een stored in groups of three or four.

Depends on where you saw them - If they were in the iPhoto library iPHoto has either two or three different versions (no duplicates) or each photos in its library - this is not optional and can not be changed -- If they were not in the iPhoto library then you can do what you please with them and they have nothing to do with iPhoto - iPhoto is only involved with the photos in its library
2. Why is it advised to NEVER make changes to the structure or contents of iPhoto in Finder?

Very simple - if you do you will destroy your iPhoto library and have to start over losing all work you have done in iPhoto - The iPHoto library is a SQLite database and there are NO user servicable parts in the iPhoto library and any changes made using teh finder will corrupt the database and cause dataloss

You destroyed your iPhoto library and will either have to restore your backup from before you did this. put everything back EXACTLY like it was before or start over

Can some one give me the badi name for below requirement.
Requirement:
We are downloading the orders from R/3 to CRM system.while downloading the Order history from R/3, top level VC (Variant config data) is also comming to CRM.
But we want to download only 73 top level VC's Out of 103 top level vc.we want to filter the 30 Top level VC's before starting the Intial load of Sales orders in CRM system.
I need a badi name in the R/3 system, which filters the 30 top level VC's while orders going to CRM system.

When downloading a file, I select "Save File", but I'm unable to check the box label "Do this automatically for files like this from now on." The box is faded out. It's very tedious when you have to select "Save File" everytime

There is no serial number for the CC version of LR.
You should uninstall the trial which is asking for a serial number – your catalog and images won’t be affected.
Then Quit the CC Desktop application, using Gear / Quit or right-click / Quit
Then restart the CC Desktop application.
Now you should have LR listed in the CC Desktop apps list with an Install button.

The search feature in Address Book no longer works

I have over 2,400 contacts. For no apparent reason the search feature in my Apple Address Book no longer works. The Address Book app has quit several times recently, again for no apparent reason. It is probably unrelated, but Preview has also been quitting. I have repaired permissions and used Disk Warrior 4.4 to rebuild the directory. Any thoughts?

That was a while back...after a little research to jog my memory, it had to do with iCloud. I found this on another page, and I think this is what I did to fix it:
"I had the same problem and fixed it a slightly different (and probably safer) way:
Backup your Address Book - File > Export > Address Book Archive
Go into preferences > iCloud - untick syncing for Contacts
When it asks you, tell it to delete the contacts from your local Mac (all your local address cards will be deleted but they will still be in iCloud)
All your cards should now be deleted from Address Book on your Mac
Quit Address Book
Go into preferences > iCloud - tick syncing for Contacts (this will download your contacts into Address Book again)
Open Address Book and after a few secs you should see all your cards and the problem should be fixed"
The important part is to be sure to export your Address Book before doing anything. I think I ended up afater deleting all the cards and quitting address book, I reimported them from the backup I exported. Has been fine since. This is pretty safe as long as you have that exported file.

Relax. Your address book database is corrupted.
If you are syncing your Contacts with MobileMe or something else, disable it for now.
Backup your address book by going to File>Export>Address Book Archive.
Quit Address Book.
Open your Library by holding down the Option (alt) key while selecting the Go menu in Finder. Select Library. Navigate into your Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete the addressbook-v22.abcddb file.
Open Address Book. It will recreate the database from the raw data.
See how that works. If it is ok, then reenable syncing and see how that works.

The address book syncs via iCloud, not Bluetooth or iTunes.
You upgraded to Lion so you could use iCoud.
On the computer. go to Apple menu > System prefs > iCloud.
Sign into your iCloud account.
Tick everything.
This enalbes the se items syncing to iCloud.
On the iPad, Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Create a new iCloud account.
Sign in with the same AppleID as your computer.
Settings > iCloud and turn everything on.
BAM!
That is all you need to do.
Your contacts (and all other checked items checked) will sync between computer and iPad.
No need to use iTunes

How do i sync music FROM my ipod to the computer

I just upgraded to itunes 11, and all the music that was in the itunes library dissapeared from the itunes library, and Im freaking out!!!! However, the music that was there, is still on my ipod, so I was thinking that i can just sync it from my ipod to the computer.
there was a time where i didnt have REAL music on my ipod. I would go on youtube and record it under voice memos. How stupid was that?! anyway, my music from another itunes library is there, and like i said, its not even music, theyre voice memos! how do i get rid of those and put the music thats on my ipod back in the library? Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

- Are you also having problems with the Home button? Maybe it is sticking a little since to take a screen shot you depress the Home and Power/Sleep buttons at the same time.
- I have not seen your problem discussed here before.
- I would first try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next would be to restore the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
