TS2756 Unable to share file in between Macbook air and iPod or iPhone 4S

Tried sending file via bluetooth from Macbookair 11" to iPhone 4S and alsomto the iPod, but it just doesnt work.
The devices pair but I get the message, "this devise does not have the necessary services"
What are these services and where to obtain / activate them?
Is it a Mac OS problem or the iOS problem?
J.

"Tried sending file via bluetooth from Macbookair 11" to iPhone 4S and alsomto the iPod, but it just doesnt work."
Correct.  This has never been a feature of iphone/ipad/ipod touch.
"What are these services and where to obtain / activate them?"
You don't.
This has never been a feature of iphone/ipad/ipod touch.
Iphone supports bluetooth for handsfree tellephone devices, stereo speakers/headphones, come keyboards, some peer-to-peer apps from the app store, and internet tethering where provided by the carrier.
Other than these it will not connect to a phone/computer device.
File transfer has never been a feature.
Sorry

  • Syncing between MacBook Air and iPod Touch

just a few questions to confirm before I commit on the new Gen.5 iPod Touch:
    (1) will they sync wirelessly both ways?  (i.e., from MacBook to iPod and from iPod to MacBook)
    (2) can this wireless syncing be sheduled to work automatically at pre-set time intervals? .... and if so, what intervals are available?
    (3) will this syncing interfere with the automatic hourly backups from the MacBook to the Time Capsule?
    (4) can this syncing work "backwards"?  (i.e., if there's something that's already on both of them, and I want to REMOVE it from both of them, can I accomplish this by removing it from one of them and then it will get removed from the other as part of the next sync?) .... (or, would I need to remove it manually from each of them?)

AirDrop for OS X works over Wi-Fi, and AirDrop for iOS works over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so they use different systems.
This means that you cannot use AirDrop to transfer files between an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and a Mac. Instead, you can only use AirDrop on your iPhone to transfer files to other iPhones, iPads and iPods touch, and AirDrop on your Mac to transfer files to other Macs

The iPhone is not designed to pair with a computer via Bluetooth. It supports only a very limited set of Bluetooth profiles: iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles - Apple Support
The following has more details: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?
You may want to look at AirDrop. It does require Bluetooth to be on but the devices do not need to pair: Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support

  • Question about sync between MacBook Air and iMac

I have MacBook Air and also considering getting iMac. wondering if i could manage my documents already in MBAir on iMac simultaneously. If yes, how to use it?

NAS storage, or networked together,  Airport Extreme
with Airport Extreme, you can have an attached HD on the back that any MAC on the network can read / write to
    thats what I do, easy.
attach a HD on the back of your Airport Extreme, put files, etc etc on it for any Mac or network to use / read / write to.
Also I store movies on it that I can watch WIFI on my Macbook Air, or ipads
    what fun.

  • Sync workflow between MacBook Air and another Mac

I'm curious how people with two Macs keep their MacBook Air and other Mac in sync with each other. For example, how do you keep Address Book, iCal, and the word processing documents in sync so that you don't end up with multiple versions across two computers or the wrong data.

I don't know if the way I do it is the most efficient way, as I posted a similar question here once and didn't get replies. For regular files / documents, I put my MBA on the desk next to MBPro and enable "file sharing" on both computers, then with the Air I click on the shared computer name listed in the Finder, in my case lt lists Mac Book Pro and then all the files from the Pro ore shown on my Air and I can just drag and drop onto my Air desktop. Once I click out of the shared computer, I then drag that file to wherever I want it.
As far as ICal and contacts, the way I have been doing it is to keep my IPod Touch and the MBPro syncd together with all the iTunes junk and also my calendars and contacts and then at the end of the day I sync those two and then plug the Touch into the Air and it also keeps it updated on calendars and contacts. I would like to learn an easier more direct way but I don't want to buy 3rd party software of mess with .Mac

  • Can you give me some ideas on which to buy between macbook air and macbook pro?

I am going to start another year in college very soon and I need a laptop to handle my school work or projects. I don't know what to choose between Macbook Air 13" (2013) and Macbook Pro 13" (RAM 8GB - Not Retina Display). Here are what I need to do on computer:
         - Long time surfing through the internet.
         - Social network : Facebook, Instagram, Line, Skype ....
         - Watching movies online (mayb more than 3-4 hours)
         - Typing documents or making slide shows.
         - A lot of documents, HD videos/movies, photos and music.
         - Using some graphic/plan design programs such as CorelDraw, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCad and so on. (Monthly but I still have to use it.)
         - Games are no needed cuz m not a gamer.
That's all or maybe more, but I can't think of right now. My money is around 1500$. If you guys think I might need Air, should I configure it to match my expectations? I hope to having some good ideas from you. Thanks in advanced.

Ive got BOTH the Pro and AIr youre interested in, for what YOU say you want, Id get the Air.
Since you said you were only going to "some graphic/plan design programs", the Air is perfect for moderate Photo editing.
    and you said no games.
Air has fewer parts, only one moving part (the fan), lite as an Ipad (almost) but a full powered computer.
No HD heads to crash, fewer parts = simplicity = less to fault.
Runs cooler than anything else out there (which = durability).  Heat is a killer on a scale of 10X over that of accidents.
Pack around a regular notebook around about 20 days, then an Air, .....after that the standard laptops stays at home.
Air is the only Mac that has Haswell, 802ac wifi, and incredible 12hr. batt life in 13" I5.
Get the 13" much longer battery life, and the screen real estate is better, Ive owned both 11" and 13".     13" also has an SD card slot the 11" doesnt have.

  • File Sharing between macbook pro and imac

    Hello,
I'm having trouble with file sharing between my bankbook pro and my new iMac. I want to share some photos on my iPhoto library from my macbook pro and transfer them to my iMac. I've turned on file sharing and tried connecting, entered in my username and password, but it won't connect. I've tried several times with the correct username and password combination, and the box just shakes and denies entry. I've even tried connecting as a guest user and it says "access is denied, contact system administrator." Can anyone help? I've upgraded to Yosemite on both computers.
    Thanks in advance.

I've done everything that you've recommended, however, I am still having trouble sharing files between my macbook and iMac. I even tried using airdrop to transfer files, but nothing seems to be working. I've made sure the firewall options are what they're supposed to be and everything. Whenever I try to login as administrator to file share, it won't accept my password. I don't know why airdrop isn't working either.

  • How to share photos between macbook air and iphone5s

What is the easiest way to transfer photos from my iphone 5s to my macbook air, wirelessly.  I have wifi in the house and not really sure how to use the icloud.  Thoughts?  Thank you so much.

    Hi there Braeth,
There are a couple of ways of accomplishing this. You can either sync them directly to your computer via iTunes, or use iCloud to sync your photos via PhotoStream. I have linked some resources below for how to get everything set up.

  • Airdrop Problem between Macbook Air and iPhone 5

Why cant i find my iphone 5 (using ios7), in the airdrop section in my macbook air's (using os x mavericks) finder? My iphone 5 is already set to be visible to everyone. My iphone 5 cant find my macbook air as well. Please help me.

  • Sharing content between macbook air and imac

    Hi there,
I appreciate this is a naiive question but i want to share content from my imac to my macbook air (music and photos not on my stream). Everything (calendars etc.) is all synched up using the cloud but can I simply connect my macbook air to my imac and drag away?
    That seems too simple!

If you want to share just a few gigabyte of data and aren't concerned about putting stuff in the cloud, consider DropBox. Or....
    1) Open System Preferences on both computers & select the Sharing tab
    2) In the left side of the dialog box there's a list of sharing services. Turn on File Sharing (I also use Screen Sharing which lets me control one Mac with the other. Convenient at times) In the top give each computer a meaningful name if you haven't already.
    3) Give the computer a minute or two and then from one computer (doesn't matter which) open a Finder window and look under the shared are of the sidebar. (You may need to turn on the shared devices in the Finder preferences)
    4) in the dialog box enter the user name and password for the computer you are trying to share not the computer you are logging in from.
    5) you'll get a window of your user directory and from there you can find the data you want to copy onto your computer. You can also copy data from the computer you are using onto the computer you are sharing.

  • Facetime between MacBook Air and iPad2 worked only one time, then hasn't worked since..

My husband and I are trying to use Facetime since we are living apart this summer.  It worked once before I left town, but hasn't worked since then.
    I have a MacBook Air, OSX 10.6.7
    He has an iPad 2
Both have Facetime set up.  We share the apple Id between the machines, but the apple id has been deleted as a contact email from the iPad.
The Air can call the iPad; but when my husband tried to accept the call, it just keeps saying "connecting" or something like this.  The call doesn't go thru.
The iPad cannot seem to reach the Air (I don't see that the iPad has called me).
I am often using a university wifi system, so i thought firewalling might be a problem, but my roommate doesn't have an issue with it for her facetime (she is using an iPad).
    Any ideas?

Update:  Above roommate just tried Facetime with me (she has an iPad).  The exact same thing happened as with my husband...my call to her showed on her iPad but the call didn't connect.  Her call to me didn't even show up on my machine.  So, it appears to be an issue with my MacBook Air...

  • IMessage stopped syncing between MacBook Air and iPhone 5

    Hello,
Until the weekend my iMessages synced between iphone and MacBook Air, but from Monday I have been sending and receiving iMessgaes from my phone which never arrive at the MacBook.  I didn't get the iOS upgrade till yesterday so it's not that, and haven't knowingly made any other changes over the weekend.  I've checked both setups and both are syncing using my phone number plus 3 email addresses.
Can anyone tell me how to fix it please?

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so:
    Apple - My Apple ID
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    Sign out on the iPhone
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
Then, on the phone, tap Use Your Apple ID for iMessage.
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test.

  • Syncing issues between Macbook Air and Ipad

Hi. I have an iPad 3 and the new Macbook Air. I am using the latest versions on both my devices.  When i connect my ipad via the cable it connects and disconnects immediately, and this keeps on happening again and again and again. I have tried both the USB ports and have the same error. My iPhone chares and connects perfectly on my air on the same ports as do all other devices.
The iPad charges fine and also sycs via any other computer so for the life of me i cannot figure it out. Please help!
    Thanks.
    Andy

You will need to enable automatic downloads on the iPad and iPhone in order for the songs to be automatically be available
    Settings App
    iTunes & App Stores
This only works for purchases made once this is enabled.
For previous purchases launch the iTunes app on the iPad or iPhone and select more and then purchased to download.
