TS3276 I can send e-mails but cannot receive e-mails

I activated my gmail on my macbook pro (new mac user, older macbook).  I can send messages no problem and I can see them in "sent" folder and receive them on other devices  BUT, I am not receiving messages to the inbox on the mac book mail.
I was told to remove the account and then reinstall it, but I can't figure out how to remove it.
Does anyone know where I can enable mail so I can receive messages?

In order to remove your Gmail Account, go to System Preferences> Mail, Contacts, & Calendar Menu. You will see a column box similar to this:
In order to remove Gmail, click in your Gmail and then go to the "-" sign. Confirm that you want to delete your account. Then launch mail and re-add your Gmail account through the Mail Set Up Assistant.
Hope this helps!

  • I can send video's but cannot receive them?

I have an iPhone 4. I can send video's but cannot receive them. This problem only started happening 2 weeks ago. Prior to that I had no problems receiving video's. I'm not sure if I have clicked on something or what has happened. If someone could please give me some tips it would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Try closing all of your open apps, double click the home button when the multi-task screen comes up then hold your finger on a app until it start to wiggle and a red minus sign show up in the upper left corner. Tap the red minus sign until all of your apps are closed. Then restart your iPhone and try to receive a video.

Is this happening on cellular or Wi-Fi, or both?

  • Can send icloud email but not receive

I setup iCloud last night linked to my apple ID. Today I have created a new @me.com address in order to sync mail and notes.
I can send e-mail from this address, but anything that gets sent to it just bounces back, like below from outlook.
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.
Is there somethign I have missed?

I have the same issue....it only affects my me.com email account that I setup to utilize iCloud.   I can receive email OK but get an error when sending,,,,,"The connection to the outgoing server p07-smtp.mail.me.com failed."
I go to settings to check the smtp settings and it won't let me change them.
    Any thoughts?

  • Can send Exchange email but cannot retrieve email iOS 7.1.2

    Hi,
I'm using iPhone 5, running on iOS 7.1.2.
After I configured Exchange email server settings on the phone, there was an alert that said "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed". The server settings are standard for all our company employees; my userID and password were correct. I could not retrieve any email, contacts or calendar items. However, I was ABLE to SEND outgoing emails including attachments.
    I tried the following:
    1. Reset the phone by selecting 'Erase all data and settings' and re-configured. Same issue.
    2. Restored the phone by connecting the phone to computer using iTunes and re-configured. Same issue.
    3. Got my service provider to reset my SIM subscriber settings at their backend server and I tried 'Reset Network Settings' on my phone and then re-configured. Same issue.
    4. Borrowed my colleague's iPhone 5s and configured my userID and password, ISSUE SOLVED.
    5. Borrowed another colleague's iPhone 5 and configured my userID and password, ISSUE SOLVED.
    6. Tried configuring my userID and password on my iPhone 5, same issue as before: cannot retrieve mail but can send mail.
From the above steps, I believe we can rule out telco setting issue, exchange email server setting issue and my email profile setting issue. Clearly, my phone is the problem.
Any suggestions for solutions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I feel so stupid. I realized that my Outlook mail box was full and was not allowing me to send emails until I had deleted messages from my account.
    It's working fine now!

  • Just setting up. Can send messages ok - but not receive at all - settings checked and ok

Just setting up Thunderbird for the first time. Can send emails fine. Can't receive emails. Have confirmed settings with f2s/TalkTalk and they are correct.
    Where to now?

    Thanks folks.
    To gnospen:
    * ''Just a thought. Have you set up this pop-account anywhere else like in your smart-phone? Is that or your old mac running?''
?? I don't use my 'phone for emails, so, no.
    * ''"If its set up to download and NOT to keep it on the server, then there isn't anything to download, your smart-phone (whatever) has already downloaded it."''
I don't understand this bit. I just want to use Thunderbird as I used to use Outlook. That is, when TalkTalk tell me I have exceeded my email quota I can download the emails to my machine (a MacBook Pro).
'''''* ''''"I don't understand why you don't use IMAP instead as it can sync much better."'''''''
I don't know the difference. It worked before with Outlook. I was advised by TalkTalk to use POP. (Don't remember being given the option of IMAP.)
    ====
    To zenos:
''* "This is going to be messy as talktalk have grown by acquisition of smaller ISPs and has inherited a large number of disparate email services. (I still have a lineone account myself and have also had tiscali, pipex and f2s in the past.) So we may need to know what domain the OP is on."
We were with f2s - got bought by Opal then TalkTalk.
''* "Having said that, I scrolled through the options and they're all plain un-secured pop (110) and imap (143). So I don't understand why the OP has been steered towards an SSL port for POP3. None of them give "inmail.server.com" etc.
''* "To the OP: Have you tried just setting up the account as a new one, and letting Thunderbird find the settings for itself?"''
This is my first time with Thunderbird. I downloaded and installed the programme, then followed the instructions for setting up. Plus inmail.server.com worked before and I was advised that this was correct. (btw, I presume I'm the OP??)
''* "Do you specifically want POP instead of IMAP? Why? "
As noted above, it worked with Outlook; I was advised that POP settings were correct.
''* "Try setting your POP port to 110 and no security."
Tried that. With pop 110 I get "...sending of password did not succeed. mail server responding: syntax error."
Does this give anybody any further clues?

  • Can send group message but stopped receiving

yesterday I was sending and receiving group messages just fine. All of a sudden I stopped receiving the messages even though I could still send them. (this was just in one group). My other group works perfect-can send and receive.
    Any help?

The group message problem doesn't seem limited to mixed groups. Twice today I have been unable to originate or reply to iPhone group messages with only two recipients. Single individual messages seem to be no problem. This is one a two day old iPhone 6.

  • I SEND SMS MESSAGE, BUT CANNOT RECEIVE ANY

Is anybody having this problem with Skype? if so, were you able to sort it out?

At this time Skype cannot receive SMS messages.

  • How come i can send text message but cant receive

I have a Skype in number unlimited plan also Skype credit but.I can receive text messages why is that?

By text message do you mean SMS message?
If yes, then currently receiving SMS messages is not supported. Online Numbers are just regular landline numbers and don't receive SMS messages
Online Number only enables you to receive incoming calls:

Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages

  • I can send, but cannot receive E-Mail, suddenly.

I am a new convert to the entire world of Apple, aside from a longtime Safari proponent and user. A month and a half ago, I purchased a MacBook Pro 15" (you all know the specs, I went with 512 g flash drive upgrade) and am extremely happy with it. I have Windows 7 x64 installed on a 200g partition, solely so I can continue to use a few SONY apps that I need for video and audio editing for my business. These apps are NOT available for Apple machines and are essential to my photo restoration and video transfer and editing business. Ok, that's the environment.
Yesterday, as I normally do, I woke up, coffee, check on all of my animals, Mac starts with scheduled start-up at 7:20am as per usual while I am busy with my 'wake up' duties. After the wife was off to work and I was ready to check E-Mails and check for any correspondence from clients, I open 'mail,' (I have it set to start at scheduled start-up) and notice there is no E-Mail in my two pop accounts. I have a Gmail account and the iCloud account. 'This is odd.' I invoke 'receive' a couple times. Nothing. I turn on my phone (Blackberry) and it starts making noise as it normally does when E-Mail comes in. This is weird. I reboot my lovely Mac. No joy. No E-Mail. So I start troubleshooting. I figure out that I can send from all four accounts but cannot receive on any of them.
I reboot to the Windows partition. I open Live Mail. It fills up on my two pop accounts. Even more weirder. I have the Gmail account on this partition also, but it rarely receives E-Mail so it can wait. No iCloud on the Windows side. We all understand that.
On the Apple side, I removed all accounts from mail and re-established them with no resulting solution being apparent.
I have made no changes at my account on the server (webhero.com) so I am baffled. I looked for solutions here, but have found nothing, which is why this is being written.
Because I have seen no solutions, I consider that something unique has occurred to my computer that is not a new issue with many other Mac users.
My system is updated to all recent standards so there isn't much more to post
    Any ideas, anyone?
    Thanks for looking,
    Kelly J.

Personally I will never leave Windows behind. Mac just doesn't cut it for me. For one it is to much of a closed system and the door is closing even more as I type this. MS isn't that much better with the release of Win 8 (which I will not be using at all except for Tech supporting others).
Apple does not like to give the user options and if they do you have to know the command line to implement them, in some cases. In others there simply is no user choice, like sounds for events.
With the advent of the newer Mac's with Non upgradeability, IE the retina models and the newest iMacs, this is certainly not the systems for me.
The OS? Well IMHO OS X isn't any better then Windows and in most case I like Windows better. IMHO Windows is an easier system to use. Not sure about Win 8.
Been running Windows for 20+ years and I can count on one hand the number of BSODs I've had. But then I run Clean system and the desktops I built myself. Notebooks are mostly Dell Business line models and my one MBP.
BSODs happen from bad hardware or drivers for that hardware. OS X is slightly better but Apple is not immune from writing or using bad drivers and the hardware is no better built then most any Windows PC. It just comes in a different case.
Apple Lived on the "It Just works" saying for a long time. That is not the case today, as you may see from all the posts in all the Apple hardware forums.
I'm Fixento get back to work, Y'all. Ga day.

  • When I am on my home wifi I can send e-mail.  When I am not on my home e-mail but on a wifi network or using the 3g network I cannot send e-mail.  HELP HOW TO FIX.

When I am on my home wifi I can send e-mail.  When I am not on my home e-mail but on a wifi network or using the 3g network I cannot send e-mail.  HELP HOW TO FIX.

    I know this question is a few years old now, but I recently found myself having the exact same issues;
Using my iphone or ipad at home created no problems at all, but I couldn't send e mails when away from my home network.
I recently switched broadband supplier at home and set up a new e mail address, then my problems began!
I openly admit I'm not great with technology and, to be honest, some of the answers provided on these forums confuse me more than the questions!
    But this worked for me:
I went along the lines that the fault wasn't with my idevice but possibly with the broadband provider (in my case Plusnet) so I contacted their customer support.
    They referred me to the set up process shown below;
From your home screen press Settings.
From the setting menu, choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars followed by Add Account…
From the Add Account… menu choose Other.
Fill in your Full Name, Email Address, Password and Description and press Next.If you need help with these, there's more detail underneath the screenshot.
Full name: Enter your name (or the name you'd like people to see when you send them email)
Email Address: Enter the address you're setting up, this could be a Plusnet address ([email protected]) or a hosted domain address ([email protected])
Password: Enter the password for your email address (I don't know what this is)
Description: Enter a useful description of the email address you're setting up (e.g. Mum's email). You can put whatever you want here
    Press Next to continue.
More settings will appear. Some will already be filled in.Enter the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server details and press Next. If you need help with these, there's more detail underneath the screenshot.
IMAP/POP This will default to IMAP - it's up to you which one you want to use (I don't know what to choose)
    Incoming Mail Server settings
Host Name: For IMAP this is imap.plus.net - for POP, this is mail.plus.net
User Name & Password: Enter the username and password for the email address you're setting up (I don't know what these are)
    Outgoing Mail Server settings
    Host Name: relay.plus.net
User Name & Password: These are optional, but if you want to send mail while on the move (e.g. while connected to mobile or wireless networks), we recommend filling these in.Enter the username and password for the email address you're setting up (I don't know what these are)
    When you're finished, press Next.
If the box shown below appears, press Yes (you may need to do this twice).
After a minute or two, your email address will be set up and ready to use.If you chose IMAP when setting up you’ll be able to choose whether you want to use Notes (if you chose POP you’ll be taken back to the settings screen from step 2). Press Save when you’re done.
That's all you need to do. To start checking your email, go back to your home screen and press Mail.
Now I fully understand that it may be different for each broadband provider but the processes must be similar.
The key appears to be in setting up the outgoing message server settings in step 5. Where it says "optional, but if you want to send mail while on the move (e.g. while connected to mobile or wireless networks), we recommend filling these in.
    http://www.plus.net/support/email/setup/ios-setup.shtml#pagetop
Where it says "we recommend" I think it should read "you must fill these in"
I went back to Settings - Mail,Contacts, Calenders - click on the offending account and click on the account shown.
Under OUTGOING MAIL SERVER click on the server, in my case relay.plus.net, and click again to show the details. make sure you enter your user name and password and after a few seconds the account will verify and show a load of ticks.
I tried this on my phone this morning while on 3G only. I sent an email to another of my addresses and immediately got the response that the message couldn't be sent as the recipient was rejected and the message had been placed in my Outbox. I followed the above steps and immediately heard the satisfying "whoosh" as my mail was sent. 10 seconds later another satisying beep as my e mail arrived at my alternate account.
Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.

Mail is set up and I can send e mails but since 1st of June I cannot receive, I have tried connection doctor everything seems fine, any ideas?

There are two entirely different paths involved here; SMTP for send and either POP or IMAP receive.  Check your receive path.  Confirm username, password and the POP or IMAP server identity.  Also check directly with your mail provider, and ensure the POP or IMAP server is functioning and online, and the provider hasn't changed their particular POP or IMAP configuration requirements.

  • ICloud mail not working. I can send but cannot receive. Is the system down?

iCloud mail not working. I can send but cannot receive. Is the system down?

Same here. I can send mails from iCloud.com Webmail, but cannot receive.
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of
its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address
    failed:
    "[email protected]":
SMTP error from remote server after RCPT command:
    host: mx1.icloud.com.akadns.net
5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias: [email protected]
On iOS 6 device I can't receive, neither send mails.

However, if I change to @me.com, everything works fine.

  • TS3276 I have issues receiving e-mails from a particular sender. I can send e-mails to them but they can't send to me. They get "None of your e-mail accounts cold send to this recipient"

Like stated above. I cannot receive e-mails from a particular e-mail address. I can send to them but they can't send to me.

Have you contacted your email provider and asked if for some reason that sender or domain has been blacklisted?
