    Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

    Just got ipad 2. Set up Mob. Me account OK and also wife's TalkTalk email account - both work fine. Input my Tiscali account OK but for incoming mail get message "can't access mail. User name or password incorrect".This not true as iphone 4 and mac work fine with exactly same settings. Sending mail is no problem. Any ideas?

    First create the new client. Then set the system profile parameter thry T Code RZ10 and select instance profile.\
    then click new parameters. after that set this parameter
    login/no_automatic_user_sapstar=0 then logon new client which one u create then give user name = sap* give password = pass

    Hi Allan, thanks for that. I've already set up a log in for my wife and that is all working fine. The problem is that when she logs in and opens iTunes and trys to associate her library with her iTunes account she gets the error message "This computer is already associated with another iTunes account". Whilst this is true, the computer is associated with my iTunes account under my separate log in, which should have nothing to do with hers. If she transfers the association to her account it will lock me out of my content on my log in for 90 days - I'm trying to work out how to associate each of the log in accounts with a separate iTunes account so we can access our music independently of one another without locking each other out. Hope that makes sense!

    Does the iPad connect to other networks?
    Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iPod connect before?
    Try the following to rule out a software problem:                 
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Yet another User Name or password incorrect

    Like thousands (tens of thousands?) of users I simply cannot get FaceTime to work.
    I keep getting the "user name or password is incorrect" message.
    Initially I wondered if the problem was the discrepancy in Apple's password protocol - on iTunes my password is all lower-case letters, but when changing it for FaceTime it has to have an upper-case letter and a digit.
    But even that didn't work, nor did setting up a new AppleID, nor did changing the DNS (an app that doesn't work with a user's normal DNS server is surely DEEPLY flawed), nor did doing a complete reset/restore (again, things are DEEPLY flawed if that's a necessity).
    I did manage at one point to connect, but then the next time I tried to connect it failed again.
    And looking around there seem to be huge numbers of people having similar problems, and all sorts of suggestions to fix it ... going on for MONTHS.
    FaceTime was supposed to be a big selling point for the device ... simple and easy to set up. Clearly Apple has failed on this BIG TIME ... and I'm no computer slouch, having been diagnosing and helping people with computers and networks for a very long time.
    SO what do I do next?

    this is quite the dilemma, but i have another take. my household is new to the mac. bought our first macbook pro in june, the first ipod touch 4g for my daughter this christmas. knowing that we bought the touch, we downloaded the facetime beta for mac in mid-december. on christmas morning my daughter opened her touch, set up factime with her gmail address and we immediately were facetiming. then, on december 30 my wife and i decided to buy our first iphones. they were the 16gb iphone 4. again, facetime worked immediately between each iphone and between the ipod touch and iphones. i don't think it's apple's fault, knock wood. i just think there are so many variable out there as far as router settings and such. there are many people with facetime problems that get them figured out and it turns out the ipod touch itself was not the problem, and many people go to the apple store and facetime works fine. i read these facetime threads with interest for some geeky reason. good luck.

    I'm using a Google apps account, serving my web domain.

    I have an iphone 4 and it has stopped updating mail.  Three days ago I incorrectly typed in my mobile me password and had to reset it.  I have updated my mac account details for my mobile me account on my phone but I keep getting "cannot get mail" as user name or password for.mac account is incorrect.  Im not sure what to do and this is very frustrating as Im sure it is something very simple!  Any help gratefully appreciated. 

    Did you try to delete the MobileMe account on the phone and set it up again after that?
    You can also try to replace the account info on the phone during the next sync, if you select this option in the info pane, Advanced Section, with your phone connected to iTunes.

    My iMessage has deactivated itself on my iPhone 4, when I try and get it back on using my Apple ID I get an error message.....The user name or password for "email address" was incorrect. Try again.....I know my email address and password are right as I use them to sign into iTunes via my computer. I have tried restoring the phone, even back to iPhone settings but I am still getting the same problem.

    Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select your Comcast account under Accounts.
    Tap the ••••••• in Password, backspace over the entire entry to delete it, and carefully type your password again. Tap Done.
    If that does not fix things, go back to Accounts, tap the account again, and delete it. Add the account again. That will erase all your saved emails, so if you don't want to lose them call Comcast and ask them to reset your password, because it's probably not matching what they have.
