set the wake-on lan on the main computer
The laptop's too far away from the router to be connected by ethernet. It's all wifi.
No separate server app on the laptop, it's all samba
The files are on a windows laptop and a hard drive hooked up to the windows laptop. The windows share server is pants, so I'd need some sort of third party server running. Maybe you weren't suggesting to use Samba to connect to the windows share though?
I'm glad that you've all understood my ramblings and taken and interest, thanks The way I see it, I can't be the only netbook user these days looking for this kind of convenience, and I certainly won't be once chrome and moblin hit the market.

Its really tough for another user to tell you where the picture came from ...email attachment? ...screen shot?....saved from the Internet?

im sorry to be a bit thick here i didnt know this was happening until i looked through all my photoes i use an sd card to put pictures on lap top and icloud from my phone but in library there are all web pages i have ever been to ie face book ebay etc i didnt know if there was any thing i should be turning off many thanks for ur last answer though

Thanks for taking the time to suggest the screen shot. Actually, I neglected to say that I was working in a Thai font and, after posting my question, it dawned on me that I should check the keyboard template again. Well, in Thai, vowel and accent symbols show on the template with the dotted zeroes below as place setters, They don't show IF one doesn't make a typing error, which is what I did. Sorry for the false alarm, and thanks, again.

This menu appeared on the screen somehow and i can't get rid of it, It is taking up a lot of my screen space. I used to have the word Bookmarks at the upper right that gave me a drop down menu when clicked.
Did you open the Bookmarks Sidebar (F10: View > Sidebar > Bookmarks)?
You can toggle that sidebar on/off with Ctrl+B -
My iphone seems to be in a tutorial mode and is talking to me. I can't make it stop and I can't use it without tapping each key twice. How do I get back to regular user mode?

IN my contacts under groups, i have about 100 Group names listed and they are empty, I never created them and they are in all our devices, is there a way to delete them without doing one at a time?

Somehow when I synced my iPhone last week, it added albums of photos from I guess previous syncs and now I have all theses albums on my phone I do not want on my phone. I have tried to figure out how to delete them but can't. And it is taking up a lot of space. How do I get them off my phone and make sure they don't sync on there again?
I didn't have that selected before because it never did it before but for some reason it has become checked. I have unchecked it and, lo and behold, after syncing twice, they are gone from mu phone!!! You totally rock!! thank you so much!

I'm trying to find out how to export my apple contacts to the Salesforce software and they need to be in a csv format and I don't know if this is possible and how to do it if it is?
I think there are third-party programs which will do that, but you can also do it with Automator:

The file or clipboard contents will be in Tab Separated vars, so you'll have to open with a spreadsheet program and save as Comma Separated Vars format. -
My I phone 4 G home page i cons are twice the size as normal (mail, messages, ipod) etc.
Don't know how this happened and can't fix it help.Double tap with THREE fingers to turn zoom off. Then go into: Settings>General>Accessibility and turn it off for good.

didn't realize that a keyboard lock button was added to the draw down window on the front of the phone and inadvertently hit it, turning off my keyboard rotation. before I got someone who knew about the keyboard lock button, I goat a moron who told me to reset the whole frickin phone so now am in the process of redoing 8 months of phone prefference settings. is the "globe" button for the long range and pages of icnographs an app? I don't remember how we got it and neither does my wife

I don't know how you got my sailsalot name from my Skype account but I signed in with you as "gags76" and got help with my new ipad. I discovered I used a different Apple id and password on my ipad from my computer (imac) and changed that. My e-mail is **********. Could you email me if there is something I should do at my end. I have to use itunes to sync with my ipad so I have been going back and forth between the two. Should I sign in with my proper Apple id on my ipad?

if it doesnt match that means your iPhone is not provisioned for the carrier you are trying to use. Your iPhone would need to be unlocked in order to use on other carriers. You will need to contact your carrier to see if this iPhone is unlocked py providing them the IMEI. If the iPhone is not unlocked you will need to contact the carrier that the iPhone is locked to to see if they will unlock the device to use on another carrier.
