TS3991 How do you make changes in documents that transfer to all iOS devices?

I have a table (made with Pages) that I use to keep track of my financial transactions on the desktop of my Mac (OS X 10.7.4). I will be traveling, and was able to drop it in Dropbox and transfer it to my iPad and iPhone Pages app. However, when I make a change to it on my iPad or iPhone, it will transfer between both those devices, but it will not update on my Mac desktop. And when I make a change to it from my Mac Desktop, the updates will not tranfer to my iPhone or iPad.
I know it will change in Pages in my icloud.com account on my Mac, but that is a hassle to have to open iCloud everytime I want to add or change a transaction, rather than having it handy on my desktop.
I thought with iCloud it would push between my Mac desktop, iPhone, and iPad...but it isn't. Any suggestions or insight would be welcome.

The document on your desktop won't update automatically, but you can manually download the updated document when you get back there after updating the iCloud version on one of your devices. Then you have to remember to re-upload it if you modify it on your desktop (or laptop).
It's the automation that is supposed to be implementeed in Mountain Lion (probably requiring compliant versions of the iWork apps):

If that is the case, why even bother with iOS? Doesn't Instagram let you upload on a desktop computer?
@official_knicks: Use File > Save for Web to save your open document in a format Instagram accepts. (JPEG and PNG are the formats, I think.)

How do you make a custom button that is Invisible When not selected

Im just recently switching over to using a mac for authoring. I really like all the features in DVD Studio more than what i was using on a PC for the past 6 years. Which was ulead DVD Workshop 2.
The only problem im having (For Now) is that i cant make my custom buttons invisible. I made this little black shape thing in photoshop and i want to use it in DVDSP for selecting different tracks.
I thought all i had to do was just save the black shape with a transparent background in photoshop as a .psd and import it. But that didnt work.
When i change episodes it just stays black the whole time. I want something that will be invisible when it is not selected.

I can send someone my little shape if they can make it a usable button that i can make invisible in dvdsp. I really need to see the layers done with a shape as a button to see how they were able to make it invisible.
i tried a few tutorials but instead of being invisible all i got was a shape that was stuck white the whole time. this is even when i put the opacity to 0 on normal.

Ok, what you want to do is also in the same tutorial. See the section on "Advanced Highlights" (again, avoid the sections on layered menus), You can create an overlay that does have two colors. The bad news is that there will be absolutely no anti-aliasing at all. This means your graphic will be extremely pixelated. This is just the way the DVD specs are set up, so there is no way around it.
Given that I would highly recommend redesigning your overlay. Take a look at variety of DVDs from Hollywood. See what they are doing in their menus. You can do anything they are doing, but you will notice that the overlay is very simple because of the limited anti-aliasing of DVDs. In all the years that I've been watching DVDs I've only see one DVD use two colors in the overlay, and that was the Jim Carey "The Grinch who Stole Christmas."

I want to make a new action that performs OCR, and then adds a drag and droppable signature to the top of the document. I figured out how to do the OCR, but I dont see an option for adding a signiture. How can this be done?'

There are 2 very important points:
1. Its bundled up with other stuff, so less work and easier to use than pressing each action individually
2. Much easier for the intended users: someone unskilled in acrobat who just wants to press 1-2 buttons and be done with it.

I have just started using pages and i cant seem to work out how to make it the default application to open up the many documents i have.
Every time i open a document it opens in textedit, i know that you can choose in properties with which program to open it with, but i am getting really fed up of doing this.
is there any way to make pages the default instead of textedit program.

You can set .doc files to open in Pages, and its surprisingly easy: just go to the Finder, single-click on any .doc file, then type command-I (Get Info). Click on the Open With... menu and select Pages (or navigate to Pages if it's not in the menu). To make all .doc files open in Pages, click on the Change All button.
You can do the same thing with other types of files, like RTF or plain text.

How do you make a Pages document default view larger?

I can't figure out how to make my Pages 5.1 default view larger than 125%. I would like to change it to 150% as a default for all documents. Is there a setting somewhere?

Although there is a setting for default page zoom in the Pages v5.1 plist file, setting this manually to any custom value, whether directly in the plist file, or via the Terminal, does not stick in subsequent Pages usage. This could be set and was retained in Pages ’09 v4.3, which you may still have installed in /Applications/iWork ’09.
Other than the last sentence as an alternative, your only current recourse is to set zoom manually from the toolbar.

In SXMB_MONI how do you view an Payload document that uses a namespace

We are creating small XML documents and pushing them through PI 7.1. Everything works perfectly well, but in SXMB_MONI when you try to view the payload, i.e. the XML document, you can't view it with the embedded copy of IE as it uses a namespace and IE doesn't know where the schema associated with that namespace is?
If you open the document in a text or XML editor then you can see the payload without a problem. It is however annoying and confusing to staff when they see nothing in the XML Message View.
This probably isn't a SAP GUI problem per se, as it is using the dreaded IE to display XML, but I still would like to resolve the problem if is possible.
Any suggestions?

The namespace refers to a schema which is a local file as defined by the vendor. IE doesn't know where to find this schema so it can't do anything. The file is perfectly valid as checked by XMLspy using it's validator.

We can't change the way the namespace is specified that it set by the vendor and we know it works fine in there software. This is a problem with IE which shows nothing, or if forced shows:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and
then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
Error opening input file: 'OpenShipments.xdr'. The system cannot locate the
resource specified. Error processing resource ...
The problem is I don't know how to tell IE running within the SAP GUI where the xdr file is. I have the file I just don't know how to connect it to IE.
If I could make the SAP GUI use a proper XML editor by default that would be a lot better as IE is a terrible browser and terrible XML viewer... but that's another story...

How do you make a portrait view that doesn't loose the pictures?

I'm trying to layout a portrait view book in iBooks Author and I don't understand why Apple doesn't include a template that doesn't lose the pictures when you change screen orientation. Seeing that 99.9% percent of all paper books in the world are in portrait view I would have expected this to be the default view rather than landscape view. Has anybody been able to make a portrait view book that retains the graphics and other bells and whistles or am I just banging my head against the wall?

In portrait mode the figures and things are always links down the side of the text. The only way I found to stop them disappearing was to insert them in portrait mode. They don't disappear when you change back to landscape, you just have to move them to wherever it is you want them to be. The best workflow is edit in portrait, then switch to landscape for formatting.

My whole family uses itunes. I want to make a playlist that uses other playlist. However, when I start a smart playlist and click playlist is I get a dropdown menue that doesn't show all my playlists. My wife's name happens to start with a V so all of hers are at the bottom and don't show up.

Once the list of playlists is on your screen you can use the Page Down/Page Up and Arrow Down/Arrow Up keys to access values that aren't shown.

How can you repair a pages document that crashes the program so it won't crash anymore

I have a Pages file 09' that crashes the program. I want to keep the file because of the time spent on it and formatting it. I am using a iMac with OS 10.8. I called support and they told me there was a Pages 11 out. I could not find it in the app store. I am using Pages version 4.3. This is the latest version I can find. You know the one, the one with the broken spellcheck program. I need to find a file repair utility. I do not want to just save the text. I want to save the file. Thanks.

I said you were using Snow Leopard because that is what is listed at the bottom of your first post. I don't know if it's just me, but I do find it difficult to edit that information since these forums moved to the current format.
I don't rely on the spell checker, mostly because spelling has always been a forté. Pages uses the system spell checker & does pick up the typos I make, so I don't know what to say about that.
Since the file can be opened biut crashes when editing it, you might try an old trick that often worked with AppleWorks & I've known of it working with Pages, too. Save the file with a slightly different name as an iWork '08 file format & then open that copy in your current Pages. You do not need to have Pages '08 to do this. In Mountain Lion, hold down the Option/alt key while clicking on the File menu & choose Save As…, check the box next to Save a copy as: & select iWork '08 from the drop-down menu like in this screenshot. This can often correct minor corruption.

How do you make separate ICloud accounts for people who all use the same Apple ID?

Me, my brother and mam all use the same Apple ID (i.e. this one. I'm not Debra) so is it possible to create three different ICloud accounts? I only want my music, pictures etc to go to my IPad, IPhone and my account on the Mac. If it's not possible, is there a way to see all the activity from this Apple ID in one place and split it into three different ID's easily? Thank's for any replies

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't have 3 accounts with one ID.
If the reason you want to keep a single ID is so you can share music and apps etc, then you should be aware that the iTunes account and iCloud accounts are different accounts, you can all share an iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts (each iCloud account would have its own ID).

You are going to have to discuss this with the developer of Temple Run. He is the only one who can help you.
Having said that the chances are slim of it being downgraded to such an old version on iOS.
