TS4002 Why can I attach a PDF file in Gmail, but not in iCloud on the same iMac?

My wife and I share the same iCloud account with two separate email addresses. She has been having problems periodically over the last serveral months accessing and receiving mail on our iPad and less frequently on our iMac. I have not had as many issues, but recently have had difficulty attaching pdf files to my mail. I can do it easily in Gmail on the same iMac! Whats up?
My iMac is getting old in the tooth, it is a 2006 model, not eligible for Mountain lion. Our iPad is the first, updated to use ios5.

I migrated to iCloud from Mobile Me. In Mobil Me there was a family plan. I'm not sure what it is called in iCloud. It was my understanding that both our email addresses were part of the same plan. At any rate my wife frequently has had problems accessing her mail on our iPad. I have attributed all this to Lion not being as sharp as it could be or developmental problems with iCloud. But I know from nothing.
I'm not sure of anything, but I am relatively certain we have an iCloud account. I didn't even know the iTunes had a mail feature.

It appears as if Adobe Reader is not correctly installed. Try installing the latest version 9.2 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ - make sure that you uncheck any unwanted software bundled with the download.
P.S. no, you don't need Flash Player to open PDF files.

If you have the PDF stored on the iPhone as a separate file you obviously also have a third party app for reading it, so you should be able to e-mail it from there.
If it's on an existing e-mail, forward the e-mail and just change the contents but include the pdf

I get the same thing... no matter what site i try to pull a pdf for IE10, it gives me the black x... if i use chrome it works, but my client does not want to use a different browser.
I followed the guide that Pat posted... nothing worked... I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java, Adobe reader, Adobe flash,.. upgraded to IE11, then back to IE10 due to medical software that is not compatable with IE11...
The kicker is that my Admin profile works just fine.. no issues.. so i know it has something to do with his profile....

I try and open them in Reader (double left click on the file) and all I get is a single screen with two overlapping frames neither of which have anything to do with the subject although the presentation title is at the top. One of the frames had "Adobemail.com" on it. Our work computers were recently up-graded to Adobe XI and this was the first time I tried to open a presentation that has worked fine in the past. I would have thought that Adobe XI would have been backward compatible, but it doesn't seem so. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have an 08:00 First-Aid class tomorrow and need this presentation. Apparently Adobe forums are off-line for up-grades. Thanks

I'm using Mac OSX 10.9.2 and latest version of Adobe Reader on a Macbook Air. I've tried Preview, Pages, Mail, PDF Signer. All give the same error message.
Here's what the folks at PDF signer told me a couple of days ago:

You can use the Share button on Preview's toolbar. Choosing Email pops open Mail with the PDF already iconified as an attachment. If it doesn't behave this nicely for you, select the PDF in Mail and choose the right contextual menu, where you will find View as Icon. I also have Send Windows-Friendly attachments enabled.

I can open pdf files in emails, but not on websites, as I was able to a couple of weeks ago. On websites I get the message, "Adobe Acrobat has crashed". I downloaded the new Adobe Reader and that didn't help. I don't have Adobe Acrobat, on Adobe Reader.

Windows 7, Google Chrome and the most recent Adobe Reader (just downloaded the same day). The problem is with Google Chrome, as Fire Fox works fine. I tried enabling and disabling what would read pdf files in Chrome plugins and found that the only thing that worked was to disable adobe reader and enable chrome reader, which is the opposite of what was reccomended in answer to other adobe forum questions that were similar to mine.

Each image is imported into the LR Catalog from just one stated location on disk. And that is where the sidecar gets written.
But if you want, outside of LR, you can have a file sync utility replicate all physical changes within those folders on disk, into other corresponding locations on other drives - which hold a copy of all the same images, and a copy of the sidecars too. This might happen continuously, periodically or on demand depending on the particular tool you use... for example, the Dropbox desktop app.
If you also want to have your LR Catalog replicated, I think this can only be done when LR is not running and using that.

Not those whole folders, but their contents, maybe.
If the user account now on the Mac has read rights to the user account(s) on the backups, yes. If not, you may have to do some finagling.
Try the Browse Other Backup Disks option, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #17. If you find an account that can open those folders, restore what you want to an alternate location (#16 in the FAQ).
If not try creating one or more accounts temporarily.
