TS4036 I received a message this morning to download new software on my IPhone. I did so but all my contacts were lost! I did not know I was supposed to have backed them up on ICloud
I downloaded the new apple software and it lost all of my contacts! I am a senior citizen and didn't know I was supposed to download everything to ICloud. Can someone help me restore all of my phone numbers? Oddly, the recently used numbers are there. I called apple support and they couldn't help. How can it not be safe to download an apple update on an apple IPhone?
You shouldn't have lost them but soz your gunna have to add em again

I tried to update my iPhone 5 this morning with the new software update. Now my phone won't turn on. When I plug into iTunes, it says that my phone is in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored to factory settings. Is there a way to fix this without losing my settings? That is not what it says. Read the message again. It's telling you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and it must be restored.
Restore it. You don't have a choice at this point. -

Unless you have a pre-DH backup of your iphone and/or Contacts to restore to, you can add this to your list of grievances when consulting a divorce attorney.

restore with a backup made of the device
or sync it with itunes then you should be able to get all contacts from the source you sync contacts with
and apps you can always get back by clicking purchaes in app store on the device itself -

All my contacts are done... I pulled out my phone to read the text, no names appeared just numbers. Looked at my contacts...all gone.

I have put my iPhone in the Freezer Before when it was over heating. but i kept a good eye on it. So it's up to you. if your iPhone is over heating You could try it. like i said i have put my iPhone in the freeze.

If you've been using the device as designed, contacts would be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service, simply sync them back.
Otherwise, a backup should have occurred prior to the update and this hopefully contains your contacts. Restore the backup. -
Because I graduated, IT support at my college deactivated my email account with outlook/exchange. I wasn't aware, but all my contacts were saved to that account and now they are gone. I have tried to contact my college to see if they can restore it and they haven't responded so I am wondering if there is a way to get them back without having the exchange email account restored. I have looked on iCloud and there are nowhere near as many contacts as I should have saved there. Thanks in advance for your help!!!
If you do not have the contacts accessible on a computer, iOS device or service like iCloud then they are gone unless you can get them from your school's IT department.

I was sending text messages this morning but all of a sudden I stopped receiving them. I have found out that I can send them but can't receive them on my mac book or on my wifes mac book, but can receive my messages on the iphone!!! Can anyone help me?
If you're referring to iMessages, then the problem is that Apple is having server issues. If the problems your having are with standard SMS, post back with further details.

I got a software update message this morning and clicked install and restart. Now my e-mail icon has disappeared from the dashboard. How do I get it back?
Don't recall the exact wording. But it is the same in appearance as others. Anyway, problem solved using RogerWilmut1 reply to someone else. I opened Applications and got the icon back. Thanks for responding.

then credit card details will need to be entered before the account can be used to download any item from the store.

How would I be able to pull up all of the text messages tat were in my phone over the course of 2 years and back them up to my computer since my phone has a broken screen and can no longer read the mesages.
If the messages are stored on the device and you can power the device up you can use the application posted at https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/770529 , the application has a screen capture option and you can use the screen as a guide to install MyBackup from Market or a number of backup apps from Market and then you can run the applications and backup data to your SD Card to restore to the replacement device.

My Windows XP software recently had an automatic update and now when I open iTunes, I receive the message "This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes."
I have not used iTunes for several weeks so the issue may not be related to the last Windows XP automatic upgrade. I have never had problems with iTunes in the past. Is this a real message or perhaps a virus?

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
Restart the PC first.

Try restoring the backup again. Sometimes it's successful the second time. You could also try restoring an older backup. iCloud will have your last 3 backups is you have sufficient storage space in your account.

Reset your device, then try again: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
