TS4196 I can't log in to messages on mac
Whenever i try to log into my messages account it tells me that my password is incorrect even though i know it is the right password.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitirion & use Disk Utility from there. -

Can't see attachments from Messages on Mac on iPhone
When I send people basic text messages like "Hi" on Messages for Mac, this shows up on the message thread for iPhone. However, if I send them an attachment such as pictures, I do not see this on my iPhone. It never used to be like this. Furthermore, I used to send myself images and sound clips this way, and now I can only send my self text messages. in Messages for Mac I see delivered but my phone never loads them up into the threads.
Also, under the File Transferes window, attachments sent to my mobile number are shown as "Sent." and it seems like they're being sent perfectly fine it's just I never see them.Yes, just sync them to your phone.

Can't log in / Error messages / Missing data
Here are a few solutions to problems people have run into:
Use only lowercase letters and no special characters for your username. If you use an uppercase or special character, Firefox Home may be able to log in but it will not be able to load your data.
Use only English characters and symbols for your Secret Phrase. Firefox Home won't work if you have non-English characters in your Secret Phrase.
If you get an "Unspecified Error" the problem is that your desktop hasn't finished sending it's sync data to the server. In this case have your desktop sync again and wait until it displays a "Last Update" time in the sync menu. Then do a refresh in Firefox Home. If you're finding that Firefox Sync isn't syncing, make sure you're not running Firefox in Private Browsing mode which blocks it.
If you get an "Unknown Error" the problem may be that your iPhone is blocked from accessing the internet. Check to see if you have to load up a page and log in before accessing the web (like a hotel or coffee shop).Hi psj500,

Can't log in, error message
For the past few months I've been receiving errors when trying to log into my BT email, and the problem seems to be getting worse.
If I try and log in to the webmail from a browser I will some times get the following:
System Busy, Please Wait
and then eventually it goes to:
Selected account (unknown) is unavailable
It seems pretty random when this happens, but it seems to be getting more and more frequent, and when it does occur my emails don't update on my email client (mailbird). On my phone email (bluemail) it recieves the email Subject and Sender, but won't download the actual body of the email (just get 'Failed Download')
Happened for about 5 hours yesterday morning (about 9am to 2pm) and has been off since 1pm this afternoon.
Very infuriating.
When it does come back on all my devices and clients update at once and it is fine again for a bit.

Can't log in to messages or facetime on ios 8
when attempting to log in to face time or messages, it gives a bland error message, like "this cannot be done at this time" Help plz
Here are some generic troubleshooting steps for Messages and FaceTime sign in or connection issues.
Check Settings>General>Date & Time>Set Automatically>On. Make sure that the time zone setting is also set correctly.
If that didn't solve the problem, restart your iPad and try again. If that fails, reset your iPad and try again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
I have used facetime on my mac recently and have not had this problem until today. Facetime seems to have logged out on all of my devices but after putting my password in on my iphone/ipad it is back to normal however my Macbook will not allow me to log in. I also noticed that facetime preferences is grayed and I keep trying to turn facetime on and that is graying out as well. I put in my email and password and I get stuck on "signing in". Or I get past that and I verify my email and password and I get stuck on "verifying" only to get booted back to the sign in page. My OS is up to date, my wifi is on and working and I have no firewall on my home network. I cannot figure out how to fix this. I have tried some previous message troubleshooting such as updating the DNS entry to add 8.8.8.8 and that did not work. I have tried to toggle facetime on and restart but that did not work. I can't delete and reinstall facetime as it is connected to the OS and will not allow you to do that.
I have the same problem. Unfortunately, the troubleshooting link you added has the first step listed as "Verify that FaceTime is enabled in FaceTime > Preferences" which we (the original poster and I) can't do as our Preferences are greyed out. We can't click on them to verify anything.
In FaceTime itself it's verified my apple id (also double checked via the site) and then it says the email is "verified" but then it freezes and after a minute or so it says "Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again."
After checking the network connection, it still doesn't work. It's rather frustrating as it all worked fine until about a week or two ago.
Any help would be appreciated.

In iChat 6 before you upgraded to Messages Beta were you able to Send Files ?
There are also various ways to start this
Try:-
Dropping a file on a Buddy's name in the Buddy List
Dragging a File to the text entry field in a chat.
In a Video Chat drag a file over the Chat window and chose the half that says Send File.
As it is Google are you Buddies logged in via the Web Browser or a Jabber App or iChat on a Mac ?

Technically, that is not correct. How can i log in to my new mac?
I just got a new macbook pro and followed through all the steps to transfer things to my pc. Now when it started up it gives me 2 options to click. TMartineZ, which was my account name from my pc. And then theres ASP.NET Machine Account. After clicking either it has me enter a password but it also says password expired click to change. However i never set a password and therefore dont have the old password and cant use my new mac. I tried using the password from my pc and my itunes account with no success. Help me please.
If you did not set any password, then just leave it blank in the "old password" bracket, then put in the new password if you want to ( if not, just leave it blank too) its your Mac account password , doesn't concern with either your PC password or itunes account password

I have an issue with mobile users. I have a Mac OS X server set up with OD. I have created mobile user profiles on it. Those profiles can log in to the server without issues.
Yet, I can't log on to any other mac on my network with those mobile users. If I try using the graphical interface, I get a login failed message, with the following error in the system.log file.

Yes. System Preferences > Accounts > Select the Network Account. Click the lock to authenticate. Provide the local admin name and password. Tick the "Allow user to administer this computer" box. Logout and Login. Doing it this way reliably works for me every time. Train/Teach the user how to use the Sync options. Try not to sync everything. Avoid the Pictures folder if you can especially if there are large iPhoto libraries. Same for Movies folder. For offline users works best if they manually sync. Less problems that way.

Apply a Dock MCX for that User or Group. Does not have to be a persistent setting. Once allows for additional user configuration. Under the "Add other folders" section tick the "Network Home" option. There are other ways of doing this but that should do it.
