TS4605 I lost my contact list and tried restoring from itunes but it didnt work. I think itunes did a back up save after I lost my list.
Ok my Iphone 4s locked up and I had to shut it down and restart it. When it restarted my contact list was gone. I went to Itunes and and clicked restore and it selected today as the last backup. It did the whole restore but my contact list is still missing. Is there another way for me to get my contact list back.?
This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

This has solved loads of people who have this issue and have used an alternate DNS setting. Below are instructions for both iPhone OTA and on you Mac
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try an OTA (over the air update)
Change DNS Servers
Settings -> Wi-Fi
Click the blue arrow on your connected network
Delete everything in DNS and replace it with 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Try again
If this works, you will probably want to remove the WiFi network using "Forget This Network" and then reconnect to it to get your original DNS servers back. Alternatively, make a note of the original DNS servers before deleting them and replace it after you are done.
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try through iTunes
On your Mac
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
Select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, unless you named it something else) from the list, and then click Advanced.
Click DNS, and then click Add at the bottom of the DNS Servers list. Enter the IPv4 address for the DNS server.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode. -

Without more information like what happens when you restore the iPod all I can suggest is:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I need help securing my linksys wireless router with speed boosters. In august me and some friends took over this rented house, and with the house we got their old internett system, we use a linksys router, This nett is open for everyone, but we want to secure it for other users. We didnt get the manual and i've tried the guide on your site but it says it cant be changed. The old owners didnt either know what to do. Is there some help i can get with this? Is there some buttom i can push to reset it and then make it possible?Connect your computer using wire to router. Open setup page of router by typing http://192.168.1.1 in browser's address bar, and typing password as "admin" and no user name, if admin doesn't work reset router and do above step again. Go to wireless tab, here change wireless network name from linksys to any other name. Save the settings. Go to wireless security sub-tab here change security mode to WPA personal etc, and enter you secret key in passphrase/shared key, Save the settings.This secret key will be security key of your wireless network.

A message pops up on my computer telling me that I cannot connect my iphone because itunes needs to be updated and i have tried everything i can think of to update it but it still wont work
What version of Itunes do you have? Can you be a little more clear on what - Still wont work means? What happens when you connect the phone? What doesnt happen etc...

Update: I tried the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" after everything else either fizzled out or hung up. After going all the way thru the recovery process (up to 100%), I finally got an error message.....it didn't work. And now, when I fire up the computer, I don't even get to that menu with the recovery options....the only thing I can boot into is the screens with the various ways to run your OS (in "safe mode", "safe mode with networking", etc).
I'm not a techie, but I'm guessing at this point, the part of my hard drive that got damaged in the fall was, at the very least, the partition with the recovery data. Couple that with the fact that this cheapo Toshiba laptop didn't even come with recovery disk (or ANY kind of disk, even basic installation software!), I'm screwed: I don't see any way to get a workable computer now without some kind of disk to boot from. So NOW my concern is more about spending the $$ for a new OS and THEN finding out the hard drive has other problems too...is broken in some other way to boot.
How to check this? As I said, I did run "chkdsk" back when I could get into the recovery menu and run the fix-it programs. It didn't note any problems. Thinking of taking this opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista (which I never liked), but I have to know that the computer is otherwise ok....how to be sure? Help!! -

If that isn't it try Control - Command - down arrow key. You can turn the zoom feature on and off in System Preferences - Universal Access - Seeing. -

If you have a SIM password on the device, you need to contact the carrier about that. However, if you are referring to unlocking the phone to enable you to use it with a different carrier's SIM, then you need to contact the carrier the device is locked to, see if they provide unlocking, and then see if you qualify for an unlock. Only the carrier the device is locked to can unlock the phone.
