Do you have any suggestions on how to fix that ?
    Thanks Than

Well, you could try to remove the Toshiba Webcam Application from the system and could try to use just the Skype tool but this is just a suggestion not quite sure what cause this issue
It looks really like broken Skype utility have googled around and it looks like more Skype users have the same problem using different computers and different webcamsunfortunately did not find a exact solution proposal

  • FaceTime HD Camera (Display) not working with most applications

The Thunderbolt 27" LED Cinema displays built in camera is not working with most applications. The camera does not work with FaceTime, iChat, Skype and Google Talk. FaceTime says "There is no connected camera", even though there is. Weird thing is it DOES work at http://www.testmycam.com. I can't get it to work with any other flash based apps, just testmycam.com.
My MacBook Pro 17" (late 2011) built in camera works perfectly with everything.
    Things I've already tried:
    - Shutdown
    - Restart
    - disconnect/reconnect
    - removing power from display
lame, lame, lame. $1k monitor, flippin' webcam doesn't work.

I think I have found the problem. I decided to go page by page through the forums and found this argument when running a Java program through the console:
    -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true
    So it would be like:
    java -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true SwingSet2
That works flawlessly, so it has to do with direct draw (So it's either DirectX or my video card drivers which are up to date).

  • Camera connection not working with my camera

Camera connect not working with my Sony boggie camera

The Bloggie will not work because it draws too much power from the USB port on the iPad.  The solution is to interpose a powered USB hub between the Bloggie and the iPad - connect the Bloggie to the powered hub, then connect the hub to the ipad accessory.  Works fine with my 3D Bloggie.

why is the video not working with skype on this os

    Try this:
    Quit Skype.
Click on the desktop so Finder is active. Hold the option key down and click on Go in the menu bar.
In the drop down, select Library.
Open the Library folder and scroll down to Preferences.
In that folder, there is a file called com.skype.skype.plist. Trash that file.
    Now try Skype.

  • ISight Camera not working with Skype

    Hi,
2 days ago my kids were skyping and everything was fine, then I turned off my iMac and the next day Skype wouldn't use my iSight Camera. In the settings it shows that it is using the iSight Camera but not picture! I made an update from skype but it didnt help. I restarted my computer, reinstalled skype nothing.
I am not a big pro with computers, so if you have an explanation, PLEASE be detailed in your explanation.
    Thanks
    Lucy

I know this is an older thread BUT I've been dealing with this issue for the past four days and this is what I found... (perhaps if it helps another person....)
Assuming you've already checked while on a Skype video call that your camera isn't turned off...
    FIRSTLY
Open Skype Preferences to verify your settings.
(prob in your downloads, applications folder or on your desktop)
Then at the top your screen, next to the Apple Icon you should see Skype:
Select Skype, then scroll down to Preferences.  Verify settings.
(Mine, for example, under the "Calls" Tab was set to autoanswer so I can check on
my dogs while away and tell them to get off the couch!)
    SECONDLY
Make sure another apple app isn't hijacking your camera.
Open Finder, Devices, Applications, then look for IChat
Once open, Select iChat and scroll down to preferences.
(For my settings, I don't use IChat SO I changed the "default IM application" to Skype,
    under General settings tab.)
    Select the green Audio/Video Tab
and uncheck "Open IChat when external camera is on"
    THIRDLY
I verified that all other Apps using the camera weren't open.  My insight camera worked
when I opened Photobooth,  IChat, Facetime and ICamSource (a monitoring program)
    - just didn't work with Skype!
From Desktop, go to Apple Icon, select "Force Quit Finder", then scroll down and
close everything that uses the camera.
    FINALLY
From Desktop, go to Apple Icon and select Restart (pic same as above).
Upon restarting, once the screen blanks out hold down the following keys all at once:
Option, Command and P and R keys.
For me, I heard the computer "restart song" chime twice before letting go.
    (PRAM and NVRAM settings)

I tried a Skype video call from an Iphone to Mac Desktop and it went through just fine!

  • Camera NOt Working with Skype (but works with Face...

Hi, I have a client coaching session scheduled through skype and my camera is not working.  Please, does anyone have suggestions? I've downloaded the latest version of skype from the skype website. My computer software is updated.  The camera is working for Face Time. I've gone into "preferences" under "Skype" and clicked on audio/video.  The video has only one option: "Built In iSight".  I'd appreciate any help.  Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had read this solution on other forums, but it did not solve my problem. (I rebooted before opening skype, had nothing else running, and still got the "video is turned off" error message.) I am putting my solution here for those unlucky ones whose problem is not resolved by the easy solution above.
I had this exact problem, suddenly, two days ago. I see from Skype forums and Mac forums that this is a very common problem. I spent 2 hours on Skype chat support (two different calls) with no luck. The technicians had not heard of the problem (!) and just kept saying try doing a clean install (uninstall and reinstall) which I did and didn't work. Finally, I copied an old version of Skype from a different Mac and copied it to my new computer (over-writing the latest version of Skype) and POOF! Problem solved. Clearly it is a glitch in the newest version of skype. If you are lucky enough to have an old version of skype on another computer, or a friend who has an older version: (1) copy your skype.app file from your other mac to a thumb drive, or email it to yourself--somehow get it to your new computer--and copy it into your applications folder. It will say you already have this file--overwrite? Say yes. Problem solved. (2) do NOT select "update automatically" as a skype option. If you do, you will always be among the very first to be derailed by a new bug. Let other suckers work through those problems. (3) when you DO update skype, before you download the new version, change the name of the previous version to something like "skypeJanuary2011" or "skypeOldVersion" so that it does not get over-written by the new version. Then if the new version is buggier than the old one, you can always go back.
Skype needs to offer older versions on their website for problems like this, but I don't think they do (?).

  • Isight camera not working with skype on Win 7 Bootcamp

So I was happily running windows 7 (need it for work) on my MACBook (mid 2009) with Bootcamp 3.2 until a couple of weeks ago.
I updated something (either Skype or Bootcamp, etc) and all of a sudden, my iSight camera takes like 4-5 seconds to initialize, and the frame rates on the camera with Skype are like 1 new grab every 10-15 seconds.
    Anyone run into this before?
    Thanks,

  • Built-in iSight will not work with Skype

I have a new Macbook Pro that I purchased about a month ago, running OS
    X 10.5.8.
I've been using Skype to video chat, and at first everything was working
very well. In the middle of a chat, however, the video stopped working
    altogether.
If I go to the video tab in Skype preferences, the camera will then turn
on and I can see myself, but once I go back to the call, the camera
won't turn on (the green light on my camera stays off too). In video
preferences I have the following options checked: Enable Skype Video,
Automatically receive video from: People in my Contact list, and Show
that I have video to: People in my contact list. I have also tried to
enable the "Start my video automatically" option but to no avail. The
video camera it is set to use is the Built-in iSight.
I have tried reinstalling skype, including deleting all the preference
files on the computer, but that did not help.
The video works fine in other applications such as Photobooth, iMovie and Google Chat. I have browsed through the many Skype forum posts about similar issues, as well as Apple forums and have tried every fix that people have suggested including resetting my SMC, updating all my applications, trying Skype under different user accounts, reinstalling Quicktime, reinstalling Skype (as outlined in the Uninstall guide for mac), repairing permissions, etc.
I am pretty sure that this problem began directly after I switched to
SCREEN SHARING during a video chat. When I switched back to Video, it
    did not work.
No other applications that use my camera are running.
I am assuming that since it originally worked with Skype, and since I had not touched ANY of the options in Skype and have done nothing other than try screen sharing, and since I did a complete Skype reinstall includeing preferences, that the problem should NOT be with the Skype program itself, but rather something that was modified in the operating system configuration during screen sharing.
The only other thing I can think of trying is to reinstall iSight, although I haven't been able to figure out how to do that, or to reinstall my entire operating system, which I don't see as an acceptable solution.
I am using Skype Version 2.8.0.659
Any help getting this fixed would be greatly appreciated.
I have posted a similar topic in the Skype forums along with a screen shot of my Skype preferences window: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=422861
From my online reading in both the Apple and Skype forums, it seems as though this is a relatively common problem. If I can find a solution from either Skype or Apple, I will post the solution in both of the forums.
Update: I just upgraded my OS to 10.6.1 and my camera started working again. Then, I was in a chat and I lost my internet connection. As soon as I got back online I restarted the conversation and the camera doesn't work again. This is getting to be ridiculous.
    Thank you for your time,
    rystheguy

    Hi,
It is years since I tried Skype. (Probably in Tiger)
I use Little Snitch, a utility that can report the ports and IPS any App is trying to contact.
For Video chats it seems the Skype process spreads the load across many "Servers" wanting to connect to about 3 doz (I got fed up with clicking the accept Button)
For this reason I do not think it is very secure.
I only today read a post that said Skype had Screen Sharing.
iChat 5 makes it clear (well if you run /Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7 In Terminal) that there is a "camera" setting for the Desktop which may be a forthcoming thing or is about produce the Screen Sharing pic. (i.e iChat lists two "cameras" in the log produced by the above Terminal command).
iChat 4 and 5 use the Apple Remote Desktop engine to do Screen Share as does the Screen Sharing App invoked from the Finders Go Menu > Go to Server and using VNC:// as the Link type.
I would have no idea what protocol Skype are using.
They created their own Video protocols and similar with SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) for Connecting to POTS (Plain Old Telephone Systems) Phones in disregard for Internationally agreed Standards.
I doubt that it makes use of the ARD engine. It will probably be a reinvention of the wheel again.
I took a look around the Skype web site but could not find any mention of how they are doing Screen Sharing.
I would guess it is similar to the iUSBCam method of Desktop as Video Feed.
Do the Console or System Log in Console (Applications/Utilities) have any messages about this ?
