Turn off CF services choke IIS
I have notice the same thing with CFMX 6 and 7. When the CF
services are off, IIS has problem serving up pages. As i'm
developing not just in ColdFusion, i was hoping to be able to keep
unnecessary services off when i switch development environment. But
for now, if i need IIS to keep working, the choices seem to be
either keep CF services turn on, or remove installation of CF
entirely.
Why is this so? And is there a way to keep CF services off
without seriously killing IIS performance?
IIS security is very fine grained. You can apply security
setting as
global as the entire website or as granular as an individual
file or
directory.
When I have been presented with the exact issue you are
experiencing;
having anonymous access for scheduled tasks, I would set up a
file or
directory for the scheduled tasks and allow anonymous access
for just
that file or directory, while leaving the rest of the site
secured.
You can use other filters to prevent unlimited access to
these files if
that is necessary. Such as restricting the IP address for
these files
to just the CF server, or similar restrictions.
You can not set any user for ColdFusion that will pass IIS
integrated
security. The reason for this is that for IIS integrated
security, the
browser must understand the protocol and respond correctly.
The only
browser that does this is IE. Any other browser, including
the very
basic browser CF uses to make a scheduled task request, do
not
understand this protocol. They will either present a dialog
box for a
user name and password or just fail completely upon making
the request.
If you can accept IIS basic security, you can use the user
name and
password fields on the scheduled task form to provide these.
Just be
aware that these creditionals are passed between client and
server in
open, plain text and can be snooped. The usual mitigation for
this is
using HTTPS or another security protocol to encrypt data in
transition.

I am working with Georgia DOT and we have created an app to track our state vehicles using IPhone 5. My question is: will an iPhone automatically turn off location services? If it goes below a certain battery power level, and if so how do you disable this in settings.
Message was edited by: mickyelI don't believe that this will happen, however, the entire iPhone will shut down when the iPhone reaches the auto-shutdown power level. There is no way to turn that Off other that connecting the iPhone to power.

Hi, I was just wondering why you can't use wi-fi when you select to turn data services off. The problem is, is that for this 1 month I don't have unlimited data so need to make sure I don't spend much. Also will any services try to use the data service without user interaction? Thanks for your help

Whenever i turn data services off though it seems to also turn wi-fi off somehow.
It connects to a network however whenever i try to use anything it comes up with 'Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later.' The wi-fi diagnostics menu also says that the 'IP address no longer valid'
Whenever i turn data services back on wi-fi goes back to normal. Weird.
I have a feeling that you don't have the browser set as a Hotspot browser, then.
Even if you turn off Data Services, your Wifi Hotspot browser should work fine. I have one Bold device with no SIM even it, in which I can access and browse the internet on it via only WiFi using the Hotspot browser.

How do I turn off location services on the iPhone 6?
How do I turn off location services on the iPhone 6?
Yes I already went to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, is not allowing me to turn it off.
And yes I have disable the restrictions too. When I tapped the screen, there was a symbol on the left that looked like arrows going in a circle and on the right were the arrows crossed. The crossed arrows were orange, when I tapped this orange symbol, it turned to white and the songs STOPPED shuffle.

After turning off Location Services, Safari keeps saying to turn back on
I turn off "Location Services" often to save battery power, and at night I often turn on "Airplane Mode", (which I must say is most convenient to turn all radios, (GPS, Bluetooth, Phone, Wifi, Push), at once. However, Safari continues to often send a pop up saying, "turn on location services to allow "safari" to determine your location". Not only is this pop up annoying, but I often listen to several of the rainmaker apps as I fall asleep and this notification continously shuts down my rainmaker app. I have tried to find a way to stop Safari from doing this but am getting no where. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a way to stop Safari from sending repeated prompts? This has always happened but is happening more so since using Google Latitude, which I do have completely turned off and signed out of. Thanks
Cannot see why Safari is bugging you. 1) it is closed thus shouldn't be needing anything since apps don't run in the background. 2) Safari shouldn't ask for your location (unless specific page is asking).
I'd say reboot as it sounds like something is stuck in memory.
A reset/reboot is:
Go to Home Screen
Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go. -

Yea,I found that but it also kill voicemail which does not make sense as it should still have all phone funtions(which I would think incloud VM access)but VM needs cell data to work, so I can get & make calls and know when i've missed one but need to turn on data to get or check messages.stupid program! I guess they make it so you must use 3g weather you want to or not,Thanks

Why can't I turn off location services? Restrictions are disabled. The on off slidebar is grayed out. I'm concerned my phone is being tracked.
While I know there are phones that can do this, they really are not powered "off" - they are more in a hybernation state. However, the iPhone has never worked that way. Off on an iPhone means truly powered off - nothing is still running so there is no minimal function left ticking away to wake up the phone and sound the alarm.

HT5467 Can't turn off Location Services
I want to turn off location services but all the on/off buttons are greyed out. Why is this?
Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

Turn off FTP service via command line
We are running a Mt Lion server. The FTP Service quit working properly. Instead of directing users to the FTP folder specified, users are just sent to the root of the OS drive. We attemped to turn off FTP service in the Server.app, but FTP stays running even when Server.app lists it as off.
Is there a way to turn off FTP via the command line? We can't seem to find it. The instructions we found online for 10.7 don't work. We've tried rebooting the server and repairing permissions but the same problem exists. Finally, tracked it down thanks to the good people at CrushFTP http://crushftp.com
Here is the command for anyone else that may be looking.
sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist -

How do i turn off the service searching?plz read
Ok so I was stationed to Iwankuni Japan and of course my awesome iphone doesn't work out here :'-( how can i turn off the phone part so that i can still have my wifi on and it isn't searching for service?
pretty much i want to make it an ipod touch.
Any ideas?Hi there,
Just put it into Airplane mode: settings> airplane mode on
This will also disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth though. To avoid this, take out the SIM card; then you'll have Wi-Fi, and all the non-phone features. Use a paperclip to press on the hole next to to the earphone recess; press firmly and the SIM card tray will pop out. Make sure you put the SIM card somewhere safe, away from magnetic sources. When you return home, simply put the SIM card back in; and you'll resume normal service, with no need to activate again.
