Turn off scroll pane component pt2

hello kglad
sorry, responded by email and it left off message. i guess my answer would be by code, but dragged from component panel. one unprofessional, uneducated workaround was putting a black box behind the text/graphics in other frames so it would cover up the scroll pane that doesn't go away.
on previous thread you asked...
are you adding your scrollpane with code?  if yes, remove it (removeChild, remove listeners and null it) with code.  if no, add an empty keyframe in the scollpane's layer after the keyframe where it's added.
below is the code followed by what's resulting after clicking the "next" button

attached to your next listener use:
removeChild(sp);
sp=null;

  • Turn off scroll pane component

have scroll pane component applied to an image within a movieclip timeline. after clicking to the frame with the scroll pane, every frame thereafter has the scroll pane image in the background.

    hi kglad
tried the empty keyframes (both main timeline and actionscript code). tried the removeChild ("removeChild(sp);"), but new to actionscript, so perhaps not correctly. looking up removeListeners (but didn't register a listener in the scrollpane script--registered listeners within main timeline, but this scrollpane AS is within a movieclip timeline). looked up null and that said it was only available in AS1. in AS3, flash6, windows if it helps. everything else is working correctly.
    thanks

  • Dynamic content in scroll pane component

As far as I can see, the contentPath for a scroll pane
component can only point to a movie clip in the library, not to an
instance on stage. Does this mean that the content can only be
something created during authoring with no possibility of modifying
    it in Actionscript?

No, I had no reply and eventually wrote my own scroll pane
solution which allows me to directly modify the pane's content with
ActionScript and update the scroll bar to reflect any change in the
content's size. I'm puzzled by the help file's example in
ScrollPane.refreshPane() because it describes a senario where:
"for example, you've loaded a form into a scroll pane and an
input property (for example, a text field) has been changed by
ActionScript. In this case, you would call refreshPane() to reload
the same form with the new values for the input properties."
Which implies that you can use ActionScript to change the
content then reload it. The help file on ScrollPane.contentPath is
not very clear about what content can be used but appears to say
that the only content types allowed are: a SWF or JPEG loaded via
its URL or a symbol in the current library. I don't see how you
could use ActionScript to change any of these. I've tried
specifying an on-stage instance as the content but that
    fails.

  • Turn off scroll lock

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro and cannot turn off scroll lock, so when using Excel the arrow keys move the spreadsheet rather than the next cell.  I have searched numerous threads and all refer to F14 plus either shift or command but I can't find any reference to the shortcut for F14.

    Hi,
I had the same problem (Macbook Air) and the only way I could solve it was by plugging in a USB keyboard (it was a microsoft keyboard) then pressing shift-Scroll Lock.
Simply pressing Scroll-Lock only activated the keyboard illumination control so did not work.

  • How to turn off preview pane from windows explorer

turn off preview handlers doesnot help
OS: windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit with latest security update

    FIX FOUND:
(Encountered same problem in Windows 8.1 Pro.  We have only Acrobat X, no Reader.)
Open Explorer.  Select View from the top menu.
On the ribbon, there should be a button "Preview Pane".
Toggle it on or off by pressing the button.  You can also use ALT+P.
Explorer will tell you that Preview is off, because the phrase "Select file to preview" disappears.

  • Turn Off Scroll Wheel Zooming

I need to turn off the scroll wheel zooming in After Effects. If I am looking at a Comp window and I scroll with my mouse, the view zooms in or out. I don't want to do this, especially because I have a Magic Mouse and any stray movement suddenly zooms my window. It's a realy problem. Can I turn this "feature" off?
    iMac i7 running Mac OS X 10.6.2

Feh. If Adobe actually DID listen, they would have taken one of the following steps (in order of likelihood):
added all the features to Illustrator that FreeHand had 10 years ago that are STILL missing.
continued to update/upgrade FreeHand (not as stupid as it sounds...look at how many different clothes detergents Proctor & Gamble makes that compete with one another).
release the source code with a Creative Commons license, and allow developers to create an open source alternative to Illustrator (okay - THAT would be suicidal for illustrator, but a guy can dream).
I know a few things about the way Adobe (and all software companies for that matter) work. I worked for competitiors of theirs, and a company they acquired. Lots of friends still work there at Adobe.
Problem is, what we don't see as consumers is what REALLY goes on there - the jockeying for dominance by one product group over another, the limited resources and the constant battle for them between fixing what's broken (not a money-maker but helps the customers) or adding new features (attracts new customers but introduces more bugs). At Micrografx, we used to joke that a X.0 release was our "X.UH-oh" version. At one time tech support guys would ask each other, "did they want help with the "original recipe" or "extra buggy." But what really kills me is I have a lot invested in FreeHand. And it had features and functionality that is simply not in Illustrator, even now. That's insane. To make an analogy in another area, it's like GM buying Chrysler for their variable-speed transmission, and other cool technology, then discontinuing all the unique features and products, and continuing to sell the same old stuff. I realize that vector drawing is a mature category, but we deserve better than Illustrator.
Even worse is the Windows-centric nature of Adobe. Back in the day, Adobe was a Mac company, first and foremost. Their Windows products were...um...kind of a joke. Illustrator 1.0, for instance, cost $100 more than it's Mac counterpart, and could only PRINT in color...it couldn't display anything in color on the screen. (!) Somewhere along the way, someone made a decision to develop on Windows (with a huge advantage in overall market share, this makes financial sense) and port the code to Macs. That's a BIG mistake, because ported code is, by definition, bloated and unresponsive. It's a cost-effective way to do business...right up until your users wise up. Unfortunately, by going for the larger Windows market, Adobe's forgotten that in graphics, Macs are still the choice of a majority of graphics professionals.
How do they diss Macs? Let me count the ways: let's take video, for instance. Take a Mac and a PC. Equip both with the same CPU, RAM, and Hard Drive. See which one plays back video faster. Surprise! It's the PC. Why? Bloated code. Same is true for Flash. And Photoshop.
The only thing that allows Adobe to get away with listening to their bean counters instead of their customers is they have VERY little competition. In fact, where they DO have competition, they are (surprise again) competitive. Final Cut almost destroyed Premier. But Adobe got serious about improving Premiere, and today it's begining to win the hearts and minds of the Apple faithful.
As I see it, there are two solutions here. I'm good with either one.
Someone (like Apple) steps into to make quailty apps on the Mac that will make it a two horse race. Adobe will improve...or die.
Apple buys Adobe and folds CS6 into their software line, like Final Cut Pro and Logic Studio.
Don't care which happens. But I'm really very unhappy with the state of things as they are. So...Adobe...ARE you listening?

  • Scroll pane component

    Greetings All,
Is it possible to have more than one pic in the content path
field? Say for example, i have several pics i want on the scroll
pane. pic1.gif, pic2.gif, pic3.gif. Do i have to put them all in 1
    movie clip?

do you mean to display the pics one by one for all together?
if one by one, you can use actionscript to change the value
    of content path,
if all together, yes you need to put them in movieclip
    :-)

  • Can't turn off scroll lock Mac Book Pro Excel

Suddenly cannot move through cells or enter data in Excel for MAC. Have read all of the discussions on this topic - shift+fn+f12 don't work or any of the other suggested combinations, I have no F14 key or external keyboard, set up keyboard preferences to run fn keys, and there is no scroll lock or keyboard icon in the excel window - nothing works. I somehow turned this on, probably via a keystroke, so I must be able to turn it off - how? I appreciate your help - thank you!

Problem solved. When naming the droplet in the where to save dialog, make you you put a .app at the end of it.
    Now works perfect.

  • Adobe Reader 9 cannot turn off bookmark pane

Every time I open a PDF file in Acrobat Reader 9 I get the Bookmark Pane open on the left. I have gone to Edit > Preferences > Documents > Check the box for, "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" then went to the view menu > navigation panels > and unchecked Bookmarks. Closed the PDF and reopen a new one and still the Bookmarks Pane is enabled. Is this a bug in Acrobat Reader 9?

I work for a software company and we are very familiar with the features and functions of Acrobat Reader. In previous version of Acrobat Reader, yes you could disable the Bookmark Pane, unlike version 9.
For you to say, "This is not a new functionality. Same as the previous versions", is abrupt and insufficient. Can you provide any facts to back up your statements in the form of documentation? I have provided step by step instruction how to reproduce the problem, have you tested it on your end?

  • Cannot turn off scroll lock on Macbook Pro

Have read all of the discussions on this topic and tried every proposed resolution, - none work: Cannot enter data or move between cells in Excel for MAC.
    - shift+fn+f12, plus every suggested combination of shift +/or fn +/or cmd + soft keys
    - there is no keyboard/scroll icon anywhere in the Excel window
    - checked fn box in system preferences for keyboard
    - have no f14 key and no external keyboard
This just occurred, so I must have accidentally locked it via keystrokes, which implies there's a keystroke combo to undo it. I appreciate any help - thank you!

I had this happen to me today and like you tried every possible combination of keystroke. I restarted my Macbook Pro and this solved the problem.

  • How do I permently turn off message pane

Every time I pres F8 or uncheck the option in "view/layout" and close Thunderbird or shut down my laptop, it comes back up when I open Thunderbird again.

Thunderbird saves the settings you are using when you close it and will use those same settings when you open it next time. Some software, like CCleaner, think they know better and will erase or change those settings. Are you using CCleaner or anything like it? If so tell it to leave Thunderbird files alone.

  • HT4930 Turn off mouse scrolling completely in Mountain Lion?

After installing Mountain Lion 10.8.5, I have a slightly different Magic Mouse preferences window than I did with Snow Leopard. There is no longer an option for entirely turning off scrolling. This is really annoying while working in Photoshop as the cursor will periodically "jump". I also do not have "Universal Access" in my System Preferences. How do I turn off scrolling?

In case anyone comes here looking I made an applescript that does the job. You could automate this using automator so use a simple keyboard shortcut to activate it for easy access.
    Script:
    tell application "System Preferences"
         activate
set current pane to pane "com.apple.preference.universalaccess"
    end tell
    tell application "System Events"
         tell application process "System Preferences"
tell table 1 of scroll area 1 of window "Accessibility"
                   delay 0.2
                   select (row 10)
              end tell
click button 5 of window 1
         delay 0.1
if value of checkbox 1 of sheet 1 of window "Accessibility" is 1 then
click checkbox 1 of sheet 1 of window "Accessibility"
         else
click checkbox 1 of sheet 1 of window "Accessibility"
         end if
click button 1 of sheet 1 of window "Accessibility"
              end tell
    end tell
    tell application "System Preferences"
         quit
    end tell
To do the automator method all you have to do is launch it and select "Service" Then set "service receives selected" to "no input". Search in the action bar for "Run Applescript". Paste the script code there and save. Now in System Preferences> Keyboard> shortcuts there should be a catagory called General. Under that should be whatever you named your automator service. Make sure its checked and then just click and add a keyboard shortcut!
Hope someone finds it useful. I made this for my brother because he hates having scroll on for games as well.
