Turning Off Video

Is there a way to temporarily turn off video in final cut, so that when I'm working in a timeline with unrendered effects, I can work faster. Having the computer try to render these files in real time slows me down, and there are times when I don't need to be monitoring video. I used to use avid, and I could do this by tunring off the video monitoring buttons in the timeline, but in final cut, this can cause you to loose render files.
Thanks!

In the RT menu in the upper left of the timeline, there is an option called PLAY BASE LAYER ONLY. If you have clips with effects on them that aren't rendered, FCP will play that clip without showing the effect and without showing the UNRENDERED warning. This is handy if you add filters that take forever to render, but then you want to review the cut before you render.

  • Can't turn off video preview.

I like to view my folders and files in the "column" style. Back on Snow Leopard, in Finder when I would click on a video file, the preview column would appear. Originally, when it would appear, it would begin to load a preview of whatever video I'd clicked, and I found when it did this it would stall/freeze my computer for a few seconds, which I found annoying. Luckily you could click on the arrow next to "Preview" and it would hide the preview video and stop it from loading, therefore stopping the freezes.
However, now that I've moved to Mountain Lion, I can no longer hide that preview, so every time I click on a video in Finder, it starts up a preview and everything freezes, and there's no little arrow so I can't hide it.
I did find the option to completely hide the preview column, but I don't want to do that because there's a lot of information about files in the preview column (name, size, modified etc.). So, is there any way I can just turn off the video preview like I could before?
    Thanks!

  • Turn Off Video Camera Stabilizer?

After reviewing a video I'd recorded on my iPhone 4S, I noticed that the camera seemed to be stabilizing the video, since I had moved the camera around while recording.
If anyone has ever used the "stabilizing" feature when editing a video on YouTube, they notice how the new "stabilized" video has a somewhat choppy fluidity, because the feature is trying to balance out the movements of your camera. It sometimes, in my opinion, ends up looking worse before you tried to stabilize the video.
Anyhow, I noticed the same stabilizing-type feature when reviewing my video on the iPhone. Except, I didn't turn on any stabilizing feature and I'm wondering if iPhone video recorders are made with an auto-stabilizer. And if so, is it possible to turn off? And how?

    Hi jihanemo,
I'm not sure if the stabilization feature is an option that can be turned off. I've roughly checked my phones settings and saw no setting to disable it. Since I think the stabilization feature is part of the software within iOS, you might have better luck using a third party application from the app store that doesn't stabilize videos or images.
I hope this helps, if not please don't hesitate to ask! I don't mind

  • Turn off video output

    Hello,
I want to know if there is a way of turning off one of the two video outputs while they are both connected. I have one with my lcd monitor, and the other with the lcd tv only used when watching movies. But even with the tv off, it seems that still consumes video ram, and the system acts like it were in use. So I want to know if I can turn it off from the preferences while still connected.
    Thanks,
    Luciano

The power switch on some displays do work like that, meaning when the monitor is powered off, the Mac treats it as if it has been disconnected. But not all monitors work like that. If that isn't the way yours are working, unfortunately I don't know any other way to make it work outside of unplugging the display's video connection from the mini.

  • Problem turning off video`s...sound continues to play

Hi, I am experiencing a problem when turning off a video and switching to listening to music - the sound continues to play over the music track or audiobook - is anyone else experiencing this problem? The only way I can get round it is by pressing the next/fast forward button....but then of course when I want to watch the remainder of the video it restarts from the beginning, not from where I left off! Any help would be appreciated.

  • Turning off video feeds

On a group video call, can people with slow internet connections not only turn off their cameras, but also the video feeds from everyone else?

    Hi, cropwithcare,
No; there is no provision within the Skype software to perform the action you describe.

  • Turn off videos in safari?

Someone asked me if there is a way to turn off or block videos that are shown in safari other than the safari prefs which cannot be locked? This person wants to stop their children from accessing videos in safari.
    thx

Thank you, Kevin. On my old, very-limited WAP phone I would go to [mobile.cnn.com|http://mobile.cnn.com], which refuses to load on a regular web browser (including the iPhone, of course). [cnnmobile.com|http://cnnmobile.com] works great when loaded from the iPhone. That solves my immediate problem.
A [Google search|http://www.google.com/search?q=iphone+bookmarklets] does turn up a lot about bookmarklets on the iPhone. I guess I'll have to do some research.
My original point is valid, though. An iPhone stuck on EDGE should have an easy option to turn off graphics. I'm sending [iPhone Feedback|http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html] to Apple and would encourage others to do so.

  • Adobe Gamma problem - turned off video card

A friend (HA!) was color balancing the monitor and accidentally hit the button to turn off the video card - Now the screen is blank. Anyone know how to turn it back on when you can't see the screen? Runnng Windows XP home edition

I've never seen any evidence that Photoshop will remote OpenGL operations across an RDP link.
What functionality does a program like the RealTek OpenGL Extensions Viewer report is available to the remote session?  The Microsoft software OpenGL (1.1) maybe?

  • Why can't I turn off video stabilisation on the iphone 5?

I'm sorry but this feature is absolute garbage. If I wanted to stablilise my video I'd do it myself, or hold my hand steadier. You basically can't film anything worthwhile without this crap ruining my video. As it's completely automatic, it basically doesn't work...like the auto focus on a camera. It's just terrible.
Apple have desperately tried to advertise the camera on the phone to be great, so great you can shoot your own video projects on it...but you can't, because of this **** auto stabilising nonsense. Some people might want to use it, like those with overly shaky hands, or those who don't mind their video digitally zoomed in, but I do not.
Please, give me the ability to turn it off so I can do a simple track of someone skating down the street.
    Thanks.
p.s. I also saw someone say "Why would you want to turn it off? That's like asking for a single core processor as opposed to the current one." No, this isn't the same thing. Idiot.
p.p.s Also, if I can turn this off and I'm just too ******** to find it, then fine, I apologise for my outburst.

  • Turning off video mirroring

I have an imac G5, and I just got an apple video adapter so that I can watch DVDs and Quicktime movies and such on my old TV via the composite video connector. Works great, except that when I plug the connector in, my imac automatically reduces the resolution on it's own screen to match the TV. I understand the reason for this, but it seems like a bad solution to have to unplug the adapter every time I want to use my imac and plug it in every time I want to watch a movie. Is there any way to leave the connector in, but turn video mirroring off? (I've checked the monitors control panel, but no dice)
    Thanks
    Plandis

Sys prefs. click the display button.
    Select detect displays/tv's etc.
Then after going off and on again there should be a option for arrangement as this is where the mirror displays is.
This then also opens a window on the Tv as well as the standard on on your Apple.
I know for the Pbook you press function "fn" + F7 as this adjusts mirroring.

  • Still can't turn OFF video camera

    Help!
I have a Kindle Fire HD. I installed Skype from the app store (only one I saw in the app store) and it works the first few minutes of the call after the install but then cuts out the video (voices can still be heard on the call). I have to uninstall it and reinstall it to get the video back but then it happens all over again.
I don't know what versions of the kindle or skype I have on it. If some one can walk me though figuring it out I can add it. What the heck to do with this??????? It in not workable this way but I would love to have it working.
    Thanks

No one is frocing you to have a video call or activate your camera during a call.
Just not use the "Video call" button, but the normal call button instead both for starting and accepting Skype calls. If you have enabled your video you can turn it off at any time by clicking the webcam button on the call screen.

  • How do I turn off video autoplay in Internet Explorer?

I do not want any kind of videos or animations to play unless I choose to click on the "Play" button.
This includes Flash, HTML5, GIF, MP4, or any type of video that may be invented.
What would be ideal is to have a new set of controls in Internet Options that would allow the user to control/override the video controls in all web pages.
For example, HTML5 has the <video> ... </video> element that has certain attributes:
    autobuffer
    autoplay
    controls
    loop
The user should be able to control each these attributes on a global basis for all web pages. For example:
    Control Panel
    Internet Options
    Advanced tab
    Video options (new category)
autobuffer - yes or no (new option)
autoplay - yes or no (new option)
controls - yes or no (new option)
loop - yes or no (new option)

    Hi,
web designers make the choice to annoy you or not with autoplay or scripted autoplay content.
Contact the website administrators to make your complaints or add the sites to your IE Restricted sites zone which will stop some annoyances but not all... Ensure also that you have turned on Tracking Protection and ActiveX Filtering (Tools menu in IE).
Possibly a developer could create an extension for IE that would do all that you want sites not to do, but I don't know of any, and generally recommend addons free browsing.
Post general questions about IE to http://answers.microsoft.com. Include with your questions the full address of any websites you are having issues with. This allows the support engineers to visit the problem sites
    to investigate and make recommendations.
this forum was for questions about html, css and scripting for website developers using MSIE browsers.

  • Turn off video autoplay?

I'm using Captivate 6, and I've inserted a welcome video into my project. I was able to add closed captions, but the problem I'm having now is that the slide automatically plays the first two seconds of the video, then stops and waits for the user to click play.
What SHOULD happen is the video shouldn't be played at all until the user clicks on play. I've searched the forums and have tried all of the tricks mentioned there (uncheck autoplay, etc), but none of it is working.
How can I stop the slide playing the video automatically?
    Thanks!

    Hi Lilybiri,
Yes, the video is imported. I found another way of doing it before I read your suggestion, which is to pause the button at the very beginning of the slide.
That said, I've now got the opposite problem with an interactive timeline; it pauses so that the user has to click play on the playbar, when I want it to flow just like the other slides! Not sure how to fix this bit yet, but we'll see!
    Thanks,
    CCM
