Tutorial for styles in RH8?
Hi all,
I'm investigating the RH8 trial version and cannot for the
life of me work out how to get bullets and numbering to work.
I've upgraded a copy of one of our existing projects and
everything looks pretty much okay. But when I start creating new
procedures, or modifying existing ones, things go rather
pear-shaped.
In existing, unmodified procedures, our subnumbering style
display correctly in Design View, but doesn't show correctly in
Preview - the numbers don't show as lower-roman, but the indenting
is correct. If we create a new procedure, assigning the style using
the Style list on the toolbar, they also don't show correctly. It
gets worse when we restart the numbering for the subnumbered style
- the numbering vanishes completely in both Design and Preview
modes.
A similar situation happens with bullets. If they are in the
middle of a procedure, selecting our bullet style applies the
correct indenting, but it retains a numbering style rather than the
correct bullets.
This is all without modifying the stylesheet as imported from
RH6-7(slight modification here as well as the RH upgrade
changes)-8.
I assume that there is some relationship between the style
that appears in the Style Editor under Lists and the one that
appears under Paragraph, but I can't for the life of me work it
out, and the procedure in the RH help doesn't help beyond creating
a new style. Maybe I should be using multi-level lists? But there
isn't any help on that as far as I can see, and I couldn't get
lists to work using that either.
So if anyone can direct me to a tutorial I would be sincerely
grateful.
Thanks, sberman!!
Happy New Year!!

Is there a bug in the WebService tutorial for JDeveloper 9i?
In reading through the JDeveloper 9i tutorial for building a web service, the final step generates the DateTimeServiceStub.java, but the testing that follows does not use this class, it uses the DateTimeService class.
I built a Web Service based on the this tutorial and when I test with "MyClass.java" it works fine, but when I try to use "MyClassStub.java" it throws the ClassNotFound Exception below:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HTTPClient/ModuleException
at mypackage.RandomQuoteStub.<init>(RandomQuoteStub.java:21)
at mypackage.RandomQuoteServlet.doGet(RandomQuoteServlet.java:27)
at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:195)
at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:309)
at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:336)
If we are supposed to use the Stub methods, any thought as to why it fails?
If we are NOT supposed to use the Stub methods, any thought as to why they are generated.
(Yes, I am a bit new to Web Service development).
Thanks in advance for any answers,

Looking for a realistic bone tutorial for my logo for my website, my site is reptile related and titled Prehistoric Reps so this should give some insight to the kind of style I am looking for - thanks.
Stephen.wanting everything in a single resource is too much to ask. You should split your query into three:
1) how to make platform games
2) how to make games in a windowed environment
3) how to do games in applets
For the first, that is quite difficult to put in a book as a generic topic. What you are looking for is how to make games, with that knowledge you should be able to figure out how to do a platform game. That is quite an involving task. You will have to find out:
1.1) how to efficiently blit graphics
1.2) 2D collision detection
1.3) framerate independent animations and movement
1.4) the "game loop"
as a start.
Making games in a windowed environment is not much different than fullscreen games actually; only the size of the screen is different. Other than that there shouldn't be much difference between the two, other than at the hardware level which you will probably not have to worry about too much in your beginning game development endeavors.
How to do a game in an applet: it is not much different from doing a game in a regular Swing application. I would start there and then later figure out how to do it in an applet. Using a Swing timer and custom painting on a JPanel should get you far enough, I would think.
For later projects you may want to look into the Slick library, which you can find here: http://slick.cokeandcode.com/ . I wouldn't start there though, start simpler with Swing only. -
Robohelp Shortcut keys for styles
RH8 HTML
Just wondering if theres a way to set shortcut keys for styles, similar to how you can do it in MS Word.
Just makes formatting etc so much faster, instead of having to use the mouse and click around.
I see I can set shortcuts to do other RH functions, like create new topics etc....but nothing for text formatting.
Thanks, Nick.Hi Nick
RoboHelp has always offered the following:
Ctrl+Alt+1 Applies Heading 1
Ctrl+Alt+2 Applies Heading 2
Ctrl+Alt+3 Applies Heading 3
Ctrl+Shift+N Applies Normal
Aside from that, perhaps use something like Macro Express to create a macro you could use.

Tutorial for managing bookmarks in iPhone environment?
I hate asking newbie questions but here goes. Searched for this but found threads regarding desktop environment.
When I open Safari on my iPhone 3CS, I see bookmarks imported from my pc when I synched. Don't need all those so deleted most. Here's the problem: if I type in a new address in Safari addres field at top, and go to that page, then do Add Bookmark, it doesn't show up the next time I open Safari and look at the bookmarks. If I start to re-type it in the address field, the full link and title appear below, so I know it's storing it somewhere.
Can someone just point me toward an online tutorial for manageing bookmarks within the iPhone environment not the desktop?
Thanks!it's one of the dangers to BYOD.....The best way to manage this is education(unless you are ready for MDM).
Granted that can be a bigger pain in the buttocks than working around it.
What I tell people(having had this happen to me a couple of times) is when it's time to change your password
1.) Make sure you have all your devices with you
2.) disable the wireless on everything
3.) change password via your laptop
4.) enable one device, and go change the password there < rinse repeat for subsequent devices.
Now, when the company I was working for moved to a MDM, the issue went away on my phone and tablet, as the mail settings were controlled by the MDM, so when i changed my password, it pushed to my other devices.

Steve

ZuriJAckshoTibook-widgets.com have a free tutorial book in the iBooks store. Search for "Create your first interactive book using iBooks Author" they also sell widgets.
I dont have any connection - I found their eBook in the store long ago and used it to learn more about iBA.
The best advice though, is be patient, go back over the process step by step, I cannot access the Help files for some reason.. but i am sure its in their. -

Tutorial for a Spry photo gallery with thumbs and buttons ???
Anyone know of a a tutorial for building a Spry photo gallery with both thumbnails and next, previous, stop and play buttons(functions) ???
Like the ones on Adobe's Photo Gallery demos; http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/demos/pe_gallery.html
Adobe show the source for their Photo Gallery Demos, but that doesn't help me much ... I need a prober tutorial that tells me how to do : )
The only tutorial that I've been able to find, is one for Dreamweaver 8, without buttons - I'm looking for a updated version.
I appreciate any help very much. Thank you.Just Google for the Spry photo gallery and you might find
http://cates-associates.net/tutorials/Tutorial-CS3-Spry.html
or even a few others.
Happy Sprying

Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 for Mac does not show up in Applications. Tutorial for editing from iPhoto shows selecting the Adobe software in Applications. Am I missing a step in registering product?
I answered my own question: There's a difference between "download' and "install." Hunt for "install" (1.5 hrs in my case) and line up your passwords, Adobe ID, etc, then install. Took 15 min. The right choice shows up in Applications. Now it's on to figuring out why photo selected for edit in iPhoto does not show up on screen in Elements.
