 TV 3.0 - Photos no longer rotate

I started my Apple tv this morning and before the menu came up it downloaded and installed the 3.0 software. I don't have a real problem with that but I just wanted to watch a slideshow of photos stored on the Apple tv. Things seemed to work fine except that the vertical format photos were not rotated. These photos have been on the Apple tv (not streamed) for at least two software upgrades and this was never a problem. The same thing happens if I just view an album instead of doing a slideshow. Oddly enough, the photos are correctly rotated in the screen saver and in the thumbnails. Have a missed a setting to make the full screen photos show up correctly?

may the OP forgive me for hijacking this thread but i desire the advice of one as knowing as sir winston on a, well, slightly unrelated topic.
as you may vaguely recall, sir winston, i was having problems with my TV last weekend, not unlike those that still bug chenks.
now, luckily i got my problems fixed by factory restoring/re-upgrading my unit.
today i got email from Apple asking my feedback because +Our support engineers were interested in finding out a bit more about the issues you were having. If you could provide a description of exactly what you are experiencing along with the manufacturer and model of your receiver and TV, that would assist the engineers in understanding your issues.+
alas, my problem seems solved so i was wondering if i should simply ignore this request (imagining how busy the Apple engineers must be right now) or should i get back to them ?
my apologies again to the OP !

  • Photos do not rotate

Camera roll and Photos no longer rotate whether accessed through Photos or Camera. The orientation lock is not on. Safari does rotate.

If rotation is working in other apps, then it probably isn't a hardware issue.
    2 things I would be trying;
    Reset the phone
Hold the Home and sleep button in till you see the Apple logo (ignoring the 'swipe to turn off message') and then releasing them.
Wait for the phone to fully reboot and obtain a signal with your carrier, then go to Photo app and see if the issue is resolved.
    If its still no good
Check if you have a corrupt photo database in the phone.
Download all the photos you have stored in your phone to your computer (do this the way you always do it, depending on your personal setup).
Connect to iTunes and deselect the Sync photos, and apply that setting so all Photo Library photos are removed from you phone.
Disconnect from ITunes and restart your phone.
Now take one photo with your phone and save it.
Open the Photo app and see if the issue has been resolved.
If it has, sync you photos using itunes photos tab and test again by opening the photos app on the phone.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why do photos etc no longer rotate with my device under the new operating system

Since updating my phone with the new operating system, photos & videos etc no longer rotate with my device

Do you have ‘orientation lock’ turned on? This can be found via the quick options (swipe up), it is the icon in the top-right. If so, turn it off.

  • I can no longer rotate photos after importing them.

I can no longer rotate photos after importing them.  This option was available before they last update.

There is another current discussion about this going on. I copied it and pasted the answer here.
"Your functionallity is on an IPAD 2.  This forum is refering to an IPAD 1!
I spoke to Apple technical support and they concur.
The feature was available on IOS 4.3 and was removed in IOS 5.
They directed me to 3rd Party Software.  I told them this is not an anwser since I have 100's of picture which must be loaded in the the 3rd Party Software Rotated individually and saved back into the Save Folder.
They said if they have enough compliants it will be fixed in the next rev."

  • I have photos that are rotated within a photo stream created from a project even though the photo displays properly within the project. How can I get the photos to have the proper rotation within the photo stream?

I have a photo stream that was created from a subset of photo from a rather large Aperature project. Some of the photos show up rotated within the photo stream but are not rotated within the project. Why is this happening and how do I fix the rotation within the photo stream? I do have the latest version of Aperature and have all of the necessary updates applied to my devices used to view the photo stream. The photos do show up rotated within the photo stream segment of Aperature, so I am sure it is not an issue with the output device (iPad and Apple TV). I do know that I cannot edit photos within a photo stream, but no amount of editing within the project allows the photos to be properly rotated within the photo stream. All help would be greatly appreciated.

That will work, but it is the long way 'round.
As Frank noted, Book Albums are just specialized Albums.  Albums can show any Image in your Library, regardless of where the Album is located on the Library Inspector, and regardless of which Project contains the Image.  You can put your Albums anywhere (in a Folder called "Books" for example).  You can put Images from anywhere in your Library in any Album.
    The easy way 'round:
    - Make a new Book Album
    - Select Images you may want to put in your Book.  Flag them.
    - Select some more.  Flag them.
    - Go to the "Flagged" container (listed near the top of the Library Inspector), select all, and drag-and-drop them to your Book Album.
    - Repeat as needed, or just drag-and-drop directly into the Book Album.
Note that you can remove any Image from any Album (including Books) by selecting and hitting the "{Delete}" key.  This _does not remove the Image from the Project that contains it, or from the Library.
Note, too, that once the Images are in your Book Album, you then put them in the Book you are creating for publication.  The Book Album contains the superset of Images with which you populate the Book itself.  The Book Album also holds the Book.
A good (imho ) introduction to the parts of Aperture can be found in this short guide I wrote.
The User Manual is helpful.  Here is
    the chapter on making Books.
    From that chapter, here is
the section detailing how to create and populate a Book Album.

  • IPhone 4 (No longer rotates) after 4.2.1

Hi, has anyone had an issue after updating to OS4.2.1 and loosing the abilty for the phone to rotate. I have checked the button to lock the orientation is not turned on but it has no effect. The phone will simply no longer rotate in any application, photos, safari.

Have you tried re-booting the phone by holding down the sleep and home buttons together for around 15 seconds and until the Apple logo appears? This cures most issues?

  • IPod Photo no longer recognized by iTunes 10

I do not know how long ago my iPod Photo stopped being recognized by iTunes. It is certainly an old iPod that I occasionally use to record voice for podcast.
Today, I noticed that this iPod Photo no longer shows up in iTunes 10. I connected it to two Mac's; one is a G5 tower running OS 10.5.8 and the other is a Mac Pro running OS 10.6.1.
My current objective is to get the voice file off of this iPod Photo. But, of course, it will be nice to have access to it in iTunes 10.
    Please advise.

    Hello Profinite,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Not sure as to why this happening, other than the fact that is probably related to the new iTunes 10. Have you try any of the basics yet? Since the iPod does not appear on either system, the cause could be the cable you are using to connect it with. If at all possible, try using a different cable. I would also try different USB ports on each computer as well. What happens when you reset it with it still connected to either Mac?
Another possible solution to at least get it mounted as drive on one of your systems is to place the iPod into *Disk Mode* as described in this Apple support document.

  • HT1947 Remote app on iPad no longer rotates after upgrade to iOS 7

I love Remote, use on both my iPhone and iPad.  However, after upgrading the iPad to iOS 7, the app no longer rotates to horizontal view - in fact, it doesn't rotate at all.  Bad enough no horizontal, but to not rotate at all means that I can't orient my iPad angled up, while having the power cord plugged in at the bottom?
Seems so strange that this would be changed - why?  Maybe I need to re-install?
    Help.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

  • My email no longer rotate although everything else does ???

My emails will no longer rotate although everything else does .. Tried turning off and on again at which it works for a little while then stops again...any ideas ...

Try quitting the mail app and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You can try this as well and see if it solves the issue.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • After updating to iOS 7 the contact photos no longer appear when I receive a call. How can I get them to show again?

After updating to iOS 7 the contact photos no longer appear when I receive a call. How can I get them to show again?

I'm having the identical problem on my iPhone 4 after upgrading to IOS 7--no ability to update apps or download new apps.  Here is what Apple tech support emailed to me:
I understand that you are unable to download or update applications after updating iOS7 on your iTunes. I know you must be eager to get this resolved and I will be happy to help you today.
... to help you better with this issue I would request you to please try this steps given below to resolve your issue.
    Please follow this steps:
    1) Double tap the home button
    2) Hold down on an icon
    3) Tap the red "X" on iTunes, and the App Store.
    4) Tap Settings > Store > Tap your Apple ID, and choose sign out
    5) Tap Settings
    6) Tap General
    7) Tap Reset
    8) Tap Network Settings
Once it has been closed with multi-tasking, and you have rebooted the device in the network settings reset, please sign in, and try again.
Howevr, if you are facing the same issue than for this issue, you may need to call our AppleCare technical support team. A technical Advisor will be able to tell you about Apple's complimentary and fee-based support. The technical Advisor can also assist you in determining what option might be most helpful to you in this case.
Mildly amusing that the instructions for force-closing a program are the IOS 6 instructions, which do not work on IOS 7.
Otherwise I'm having a little success with this.  Some apps (not all) are updating. It seems that a few more apps update each time I go through the process (close everything, sign out, and either reset or reboot, then go to the app store, sign in and try to update all).  So far it has been a very lengthy, iterative process.

  • Web Gallery, Photos Not Correct Rotation

I'm playing around with three photos and uploading them to a web gallery. Problem is, when I see them in Safari, the photos are upside down, which is how they were after their initial import.
In the web gallery project in iPhoto (7.1), the photos have been rotated to display properly, but after the upload, no good.
I deleted the "bad" web gallery, and started over. I've also done a rebuild of the iPhoto library. Not sure what else to try.
I would suspect that the web gallery is drawing from the Originals folder within the iPhoto Library. Sound reasonable?

It's funny: I had just posted to someone else that they should update to 7.1 to get the web gallery to upload. I didn't realize I was not up all they way myself. So now I'm at 7.1.1.
Problem was, I still had upside down photos.
So the work around I employed was to export the edited photos out, delete the photos within iPhoto, then re-import the edited photos back in. Ah, now they show properly.
Not my favorite solution, but what are you going to do?
I still suspect there might something within the web gallery functionality, which wants to upload the Originals and not the Modifieds. Thoughts anyone?

  • My iPad screen no longer rotates.

My iPad screen no longer rotates. When I toggle the switch on the upper right, it just indicates a ringer either on or off. When I check in settings, it shoes the screen rotation as 'muted'.  No luck turning it on or off either. Any ideas? Thanks!

Try double pressing the home button, then swiping to the right until you see the ipod controls. There should be an orientation button at the far left.

  • I upgraded to ISO 7. Some of the apps are not w orking properly. Example: Text is to large and cannot fit the screen and cannot be reduced. Other apps  will no longer rotate. Need a fix.

I upgraded my I pad to ISO 7. Some of the APPS are not working properly. Example: The text is to large for the screen and  cannot be adjusted. Other Apps will no longer rotate. Is there a fix?

    Have you updated your apps?
I have found that the rotation from portrait to landscape is broken on some apps. That's not iOS 7's fault, it's the App designer. I have a fairly popular app that got updated the day before iOS 7 came out, presumably it was iOS 7 friendly. But no, it doesn't do landscape. Completely incompetent App designers to make that egregious of an error.
You can contact the designer of each of your apps. It's not Apple's problem.

If I've understood you correctly then the ALLEXCEPT function may be what you're after and it could be applied in a similar way to the following...
    =
    RANKX(
    ALL(Table1),
    CALCULATE(
    COUNTROWS(table1),
    ALLEXCEPT(Table1, Table1[ContactReason])
    DENSE
If this has missed the mark, would it be possible to clarify the requirement further?
