TV and the Menu Bar

I've got a PowerMac 5500/250, running OS 8.6, with an Apple TV card. I can run Apple Video Player, watch TV in my computer room, etc.
Here's the question - how do I get rid of the menubar while in fullscreen mode? It keeps flickering, trying to disappear, but can't quite do it. And I know it can be done, because it's gone away before, but not now.

Check to see what version of the Video Startup extension you have installed. I had to just now re-install the Mac OS 8.6 Update on my Power Mac 5260/100 since the updater failed to update all of the OS's files the first time. It was really weird since before I had 1.7.2 of the Video Startup extension when I'm supposed to have 1.7.3. It wasn't until I opened the Mac OS 8.6 Update's Install Tome with Tome Viewer that I figured out the update failed to install despite the about this Mac window reporting I was already running Mac OS 8.6. Very weird.

I have dual displays. My dock is on the MBP bottom and the menu bar is on the extended monitors top.

I have a Dell 2408 acting as the main display and a 15" MBP. For some reason, today the dock ended up on the MBP screen at the bottom and the menu bar is on the Dell at the top. I can't seem to move the dock back to the Dell. Can someone help? I tried moving the menu bar to the MBP and then back, hoping the dock would follow but no luck.

When the dock is defined as on the bottom, it will appear on the screen of the extended desktop that is lowest.
Move the second monitor where the bottom edges are equal or the Dell is lower and the dock will move there.

My firefox is black but shows a few ads and the menu bar is empty

I added a monitor and am running two monitors. Since I installed the monitor my firefox (which I don't think I can live without) is totally black with the exception of a random ad and the menu bars are present but blank. Can you help me?

Hi,
( I search for iChat questions when I have finished in the iChat Forum)
So the menu bar reads iChat, File, Edit, View, Buddies, Video, Window and Help
There is no Buddy List open.
There is no other window for iChat open.
In the iChat Menu you only have access to Status.
Is an item ticked in the list ?
Is this a green (Available item) or Red ( an Away one) ?
Can you access the Accounts option ? (Sitll in the iChat Menu)
Is anything in here ticked ?
In the Window menu any Logged in account should appear in the list (Between the Next Chat and File Transfer items)
It would be useful to know which version of iChat this is.
If no account is ticked (iChat Menu > Accounts) or not showing in the Window Menu, plus you cannot determine the Status and you cannot access the Preferences then you need to access your Home Folder/Library/Preferences
As the Library in the Home Holder is Invisible in Lion you will need the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Folder option (you can use it in earlier OS versions if you want)
Type in:-
~/Library/Preferences
Find the file called com.apple.ichat.plist
Drag it to the Trash and Restart iChat.
This will lose all the settings in iChat that you have changed from Defaults but there is no way around this.

I accidently unmarked the book marks tool bar, the tool bar and the menu bar how do i get them back ?becaus now only the tabs are visible and i cant access my features or book marks

i was getting to know my firefox so i accidentally unmarked the menu bar the book marks tool bar and the tool bar. so now only my tabs are visible and i cant get to any of my add-ons or extensions.
and even surfing the net has become difficult cause there is almost nothing i can do with a new empty tab.
how can i get these bars back. i tried taking the cursor up to the thin line above the tabs and the window border but the menu to mark the above mentioned features does not appear any more.
i tried restarting firefox several times but it didn't work. i even uninstalled and completely downloaded a new version of firefox and installed it but the problem still persists.

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. <br />

I updated to Firefox 4 and there's no orange Firefox button and the Menu Bar is still there (File, Edit, View, etc.). Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

As the question states, I tried updating from Firefox 3 to Firefox 4 two different ways and though I see a difference, it's definitely not all of Firefox 4. I updated with the auto update installer and downloaded the exe and installed and it's still not right. I don't have the new Firefox style or the Infamous Orange Firefox button. My Menu Bar (File, Edit, View, Etc...) is still there as well. The only thing that has really changed is the tabs going above the URL bar. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

To get the new style UI you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.

I need to see the orange Firefox tab AND the Menu Bar all the time.

I saw info on how to see Firefox orange tab OR Menu Bar. I need to see BOTH. I often do searches during which I select and copy which is a function of the Edit button. That button is 'grayed out' when I click on the orange Firefox tab. I do not want to have to do three extra steps each time I find what I need. Go to View (or just right-click on any empty space of Firefox's panels - for example, near the tabs) and turn off the Main Menu Panel. You'll see what you're looking for.

I was trying to hide just my clock for the history and the menu bar(file,edit all that), I dont know what i clicked but it got rid of everything except for the bookmark tabs. I know if you right click on the menu bar you can fix it, but since there is no menu bar anymore, this isnt working. i looked up how to do it in the forum found out you can press alt and do it that way, maybe i didnt do right, but that didnt work either.please help me!

In earlier versions of Windows (e.g. XP), whenever I changed the screen resolution on my computer to a lesser resolution in order to show the link icons on my desktop in a larger, more readable size, all the software programs, including yours, appeared on my screen with the menu bars in the larger font size that I needed.
However, in Windows 7, this is not the case. Even though I have selected the lowest resolution, making the icons on my desktop extremely large, I cannot read the options across the top menu bar of your program, nor the pull-down menu items that they contain. I cannot see the graphic depictions of options on the left side of the screen. They are all too small. How can I make your program increase the size?

CS6 is not high-DPI compatible/ enabled and that can't be changed. If you cannot6 make it work with your operating system means, then short of joining Creative Cloud and using newer versions there is nothing you can do.

Using Maverick in two screen setup sometimes the mouse arrow follows the menu bar when I switch screens, and sometimes not. Sometimes the menu bar is on one screen and the mouse is on the other. What am I missing?

Am looking for a simple way to move the mouse arrow to the other screen. Must I go to Apple/System prefs? I assume the mouse arrow and the menu bar should stay together. OK, but how do I access the dock when it is not on the screen with the mouse arrow? Is the Dock unmoveable? What is needed, I guess, is a master screen with mouse, dock and menu bar, and the option to select which screen is master with all those commands available.

The entire Firefox window is visible (including tabs, x and +). I can enter and exit full screen, and the menu bar does not reappear.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.

Press Alt to popup Menu Toolbar, Click on a Custom Icon and the item does not come up AND the Tool Bar closes

Options-->Menu Bar is Unchecked(off) (so, TABS are at the top of the screen):
Press Alt to popup Menu Bar, Click on a Custom Icon and the item clicked on does not come up -and- the Menu Bar closes.
So, Alt->Popup Menu Bar->Click a Custom Icon does not function properly.

First off if you have Firefox4 you probably also have an earlier version such as firefox 3.6.15 installed. By default firefox installs these in slightly different locations, but it leaves it up to you to create a separate profile for each version. The profile is where firefox stores data and settings. I am not sure that firefox explains this clearly, but you will run into problems if you do not have a separate profile for each version of firefox. To try to get the toolbars working correctly, after you have ensured you have separate profiles in use for each version ( the following action will make changes)
# use the restore default set from the customise / customize toolbars dialogue
# if that does not work then
#* use [safe mode] and the option [X] reset toolbars and controls

How can I get the Menu Bar in P/S Ele. 9 to show in the organizer?

The Menu bar IS in Edit. Problem occured when I updated from XP to new computer w/ Windows 7. There is a small rectangle where the menu bar usually is. I can click on it and the menu bar opens vertically. The rectangle can not be seen unless you stand up to locate it.

The glitches and workarounds include:
-          The Organizer’s menu bar (File, Edit, etc.) won’t show up. You can either set the Windows text size back to 100% (96 DPI), or you can set the Organizer option Edit > Preferences > General > Use System Font. With the latter, the results aren’t always the prettiest, e.g. the font in the Editor’s menu bar stays small, but the font in the dropdown menus gets large. But this workaround at least lets you keep the text size large so that you can read the text in all your other applications.
-          The Advanced Dialog in the Photo Downloader won’t be available in PSE 8. (That also occurs on short displays.) You’ll need to reduce the Windows text size to something less – how much depends on the resolution of your display.
-          The Editor on Windows 7 can show a mouse cursor for some tools that looks like three distorted shadows of the true cursor. You’ll need to reduce the Windows text size to less than 150% (149% works fine).
To change the Windows text size/DPI of your display:
XP: Start > Control Panel > Display or Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display.   Click Settings > Advanced.
Vista: Windows Start > Control Panel > Personalization > Adjust Font Size (DPI).
Windows 7: Start > Control Panel > Display. To choose a custom size, click Set Custom Text Size (DPI) on the left.

How to hide the menu bar from a Transaction iView (SAP GUI for HTML).

Hello all,
I have created a simple SAP Transaction iView of type SAP GUI for HTML. This iView has the Menu bar that has the buttons: Menu, Back, Cancel, and System. My requirement is, I dont want to see the menu bar that has these buttons. How do I go about it? Please advice.
Note: My iView is a SAP Transaction iView and not IAC service related iView.

You'll want to set the parameter ~webgui_simple_toolbar in your webgui service.
It is a binary parameter with the following values/options:
0 : Hiding the page header completely (not recommended)
1 : Standard setting
This is the recommended standard setting in which the title and the menu bar below it with the [Exit] and [Help] button and the application buttons are displayed.
2 : Displaying the title line
4 : Displaying the buttons [Exit] and [Help]
8 : Displaying the active system buttons on the screen ([Back] and [Cancel])
16 : Displaying the system menu
32 : Displaying the application buttons
128 : Deactivating the information block in the status bar (new)

What happened to moving the menu bar to the icon in the upper left hand corner ?

Firefox used to do this really neat thing where you could relocate the menu bar to the Firefox icon in the upper left hand corner of the browser. The menu itself was changed and rearranged as well. All you had to do is click on the Firefox icon in the upper left hand corner of the browser and the menu bar would appear as a menu from that icon at the same time hiding the menu bar. What happened to that feature?

That has never been a built-in feature of Firefox 3.6.* or earlier versions. Firefox 4 will introduce a button that replaces the menu bar, if you had a similar feature in an earlier version of Firefox it would have been added by an extension.
