Tv cables

Hey yall,
I was wondering if there is a cable that I can hook to my video out port on my iBook so I can hook it up to my Television. If there is can you tell me what it is called or a link to a website that would have one?
Thanks in advance,
Luke

This would depend on what type of output ports your iBook has.
You could more than likely discover this within the documentation that came with your iBook. There are many different converters for video cables out there on the market.
You would be able to find these converters at either your local Apple Store or even a location such as Radio Shack.
Hope this helps.

Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter
i have this already, but do i need a certain cable to go into the TV. as it only has one port instead of the usual 3 av leads have???
    help please,confused...............

Look in your question and you'll find the answer...
Apple mini DVI to Video Adapter
...the usual 3 av (audio/video) leads...
DVI is video only so you only need one port... if you were hooking up audio and video you'd need three (1 for video - 2 for the left/right audio channels)

  • I cant figure out why my HTC Droid DNA is no longer recognized by my computer when i hook it up with the USB cable that came with the phone.

I used to be able to just plug in my phone with the USB cable to my Windows 7 computer and browse phone storage with no issues. Now my computer sees it as an android phone but when it tries to automatically install the drivers for my phone on the computer, i get an access denied error message. No option on the phone that i can see that allows me to mount phone as a usb drive. This used to work just fine with nothing more than just hooking up the cable. What gives??

Let's get that access granted again, e_rock_b. The HTC DNA doesn't have a special USB Mass Storage Mode that needs to be turned on. Usually, it's as simple as connecting and browsing http://vz.to/1jktbZD as you mentioned. If your computer is no longer allowing that easy access, try the steps at http://vz.to/1jktvr6.

  • Network Cable unplugged

I have BT Total Broadband Anywhere Home Hub 2. I have used it successfully on my desktop pc and wirelessly with my laptop. However I went away for 2 months and was unable to use either (everything was switched off whilst away).  On my return the laptop can't connect at all, I just get two grey monitors with a red X and the information 'A Network Cable is unplugged'. I bought  a netbook when away and am having the same problem with that now.
On the laptop that worked before, on my Network Connections it is showing as follows:
    Local Area Connection 2
    Network cable unplugged
    Broadcom 440 x 10/100 Integrated Controller
    1394 Connection 2
    Connected
    1394 Net Adapter #2
I have tried connecting to the Hub with an ethernet cable without success and when I run the Hub Manager on the laptop it just says it can't connect with the hub. When I run the Hub Manager on my desktop it says there is no wireless device detected.
A check on the laptops device manager hardware shows everything as working properly, but when I try the Wireless WLAN configuration utility in Control Panel it tells me there are currently no wireless adapters available and enabled.
I am getting desperate as I cannot sit at the desktop for any length of time and need the laptop, please can anyone help?

Hi, the devices you have mentioned are the 'wired' connections.  On most laptops, there are switched you can press to turn on and off wireless, is it posisble this has been done?
You can check to see if 'wireless network' appears by selecting the Start Button, then click on Control Panel and open, you should see 'Network' (doing this by memory) and open that up, you will see Wired Lan and Wireless Lan.
If Wireless Lan is disabled, you can right click on wireless lan and enable it, that should work.

  • How to connect my Satellite C650 to TV with HDMI cable?

Connecting my laptop with my television??
I have Satelite C650 laptop which isnt that old, but ive connected my laptop to the television using a HDMI cable and it isnt working.
The television is a samsung 1080p one, i would be grateful for some advice.
    Many thanks

    Hello Claire
I presume you use your notebook with original preinstalled OS that you got with your notebook so it should work without problems.
Connect your notebook to the TV with HDMI cable. If your TV has several HDMI ports please enable right port on TV and after doing this use FN+F5 key combination to switch from notebook to the TV.
When you use FN+F5 key combination can you see several options including HDMI option?

My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. A while ago the computer fell down and hit the cable. How can I tell if the computer is working ok. Doesn't show mirroring any more. Was working while watching a movie but when I pulled it out from the computer and put it back in the system would no longer mirrorr the screen on the TV.

The best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.  The evaluation will be for FREE!

  • Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter or Mini-DVI to DVI cable?

I know Apple has a couple different Mini-DVI adapters for their Powerbook and MacBook computers. I don't especially like adapters and was wondering if anyone knows of a Mini-DVI to DVI cable.
Also, with the gaining popularity of HDMI, do you think we will ever see a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter or cable?

    Hi,
I know it is changing the subject, but I've been long frustrated by Apple's penchant for odd connectors, especially video connectors. Remember old quadras with 13 pin D connectors, powerbooks with square connectors, 7100s with I-don't-know-what connectors? All the while, ye olde VGA 15-pin D-sub connector was on just about everything else - even gas chromatographs.
We also got that funny mini-dix (Digital-Intel-Xerox) Ethernet connector on powerbooks when PCs were outfitted with familiar RJ-45 jacks. I did see one other machine that had the mini-dix: a government spec Zenith notebook.
I'm surprised Apple didn't use a VGA connector on the Macbook, given its above average exposure in the educational environment and greater than average odds of being hooked up to a lectern in a distance learning room. Pretty much to a tee, every distance learning setup I've seen has a VGA cable at the presenter's lectern. I worked in a university IT department, and it was pretty common for our loaner laptops to come back missing just about any ancillary goodie that could be misplaced. It isn't so bad to have to routinely stuff a new $2.00 cat-5 cable in the bag, but a $20.00 video dongle - not so good!
If Apple just couldn't countenance the idea of a VGA connector, I wonder how hard it would have been to have a normal size DVI connector? At least DVI-to-VGA connectors are easier to find, and better, aren't so expensive.

  • Mini DVI to VGA Adapter w/ extension cable

I would like to get a Mini DVI to VGA Adapter for my macbook. Does anyone know how it would would if I used it with a VGA extension cable. Any experience will be helpful

Depends on how long the cable is, and if it was of sufficient quality for computer use. The higher resolutions require better quality and shorter cables. You may get some signal loss for long cables. A standard monitor cable that comes with a computer monitor should be fine, but what kind of length extension cable are you talking about?

  • Mini DVI to VGA cable doesn't send signal to the projector

I just received a mini DVI to VGA adapter cable today.
I connect mini DVI side of cable into my Macbook v. 4.1 and connect the other side into DGA cable, which connected to LCD projector.
When I connect the cable to my Macbook, the opened application streched out to a full screen (seems like computer detets the cable) but projector says 'no signal'.
Can any one tell me what is wrong it is?
    Thanks much
    Mike

    I'm still stucked.
By reading some articles, it says even using mini DVI adapter, the signal is still digital and if the projector doesn't accept digital signal then it's no use....
My projector is Epson EX3200 and it doesn't have any DVI or HDMI input.
Does this mean my projector doesn't accept a digital signal?
But, but, but if even uing mini DVI adapter cable it still doesn't conver to analog signal then why they call the cable a mini DVI to VGA cable???
Why should this world be so complecated.....

  • Mini-DVI to VGA cable... LCD TV has female input

I recently bought a mini-DVI to VGA adapter from an Apple store, to connect my MacBook with a broken screen to a UMC LCD TV. When it came to plugging the VGA end into the TV, I realised it has exactly the same connector (female I think) as the TV. This obviously means they will not connect, and I haven't been able to find a connector that will do the job. I was surprised to find that after a fair amount of searching no one else appears to have had this problem, so maybe I'm being stupid somewhere here. Thanks for help.

You need a VGA male-to-male cable to connect the Apple mini-DVI to VGA adapter to your LCD TV:
MacBook > Mini-DVI to VGA adapter > VGA male to male cable > LCD TV

  • DVI to Video Adapter and S-Video Cable = Flipping TV Screen

    Hello!
I attached my DVI & S-Video Cable to my television. Everything was fine, except when choosing different display resolutions, the TV screen would start flipping.
    THEN:
    • I removed the DVI to Video Adapter from the computer while it was still plugged into the TV.
Now, no matter what I have tried, I get a TV screen that flips.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Jeff

S-Video is the better of the two interfaces. Neither is very good when compared with a computer screen, which will have much higher resolution. I doubt you will notice much difference between S-Video and RCA Video but if you have the choice you might as well go S-Video.

  • Mini dvi to VGA adapter to HDMI cable

i have a mini dvi to vga adapter for my macbook (bought in 2007) and that works but I want to connect to hdmi cable to this? But don't exactly know how to do this or if it is possible?

It is my understanding that 'VGA' is analog and HDMI is digital....from what I have read it won't work without a convert
I use a Mini DVI to DVI adapter and then a DVI to HDMI adapter to run the HDMI cable to to TV
    the converter...VGA to HDMI...

Personally I would shelf the VGA adapter and go with the new cable set up...if you already have the HDMI cable then an adapter from DVI to HDMI would be in order

  • Problem with apple mini dvi to video adapter cable

I recently bought an apple mini dvi to video adapter cable and all that it would display on my television screen was black and white colors. The quality of the screen seemed to be okay but it was hard to tell since i did not have any color. Is there something that i can do to fix this problem

Your probably not doing anything wrong. There are thousands of users with Similar issues and it seems to be with many different adapters.
We have Mini DP to VGA (3 different brands) and they all fail most of the time. This seems more prevalent with LCD Projectors. I've tested some (50+) with VGA Monitor (HP) and they all worked, LCD Projector (Epson, Hitachi, and Sanyo) and they all fail, DLP Projector (Sanyo) and one worked.
My Apple Mini DP to DVi works most of the time. My Mini DP to HDMI (Generic non Apple) works every time.
The general consensus is that Apple broke something in the OS around 10.6.4 or 10.6.5 and its not yet fixed. As we are a school we have logged a case with the EDU Support group so will see what happens.

  • IMac 10.4.11 Because permanent vertical lines have appeared on my screen, I need to get a new monitor. The adapter apple sells goes from female VGA to mini-DVI. What kind of cable should I get as well:female to male?

If I use an adapter (female VGA to mini-DVI) for my iMac 10.4.11 OSX, I also need a cable. Should that cable be female VGA to male VGA?
Permanent vertical lines have appeared on my display, and connecting to another display (monitor) requires a cable and adapter. I want to be sure I am purchasing the correct cable for the Apple adapter.

What made me think I need to format if I upgrade the OS?
    I just presumed so really.
What made me think I need to constantly format computer with my problem?
Well, after many attempts to repair the drive, which fails, cannot even reach the log in screen, I am left with no other choice?
And also, I have to note now, System Preferences keeps crashing without reason, it either takes ages to load, just by clicking it to open, or clicking something within it, or it just crashes.
And temporarily, it freezes the computer totally, with no response.
Seriously, am I missing a system file or something? Anyone experienced this problem before?
My computer is literally a blank computer right now, installed VLC and Shades, updated Adobe Flash Player, installed Skype and Adium. I would say Growl from Adium caused it, but it has happened prior to Skype and Adium. Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks,

  • Trying to connect my MacBook Pro to cable

I live in a dorm and we are given cable inputs to connect to a TV, thing is I don't have a TV. I bought a Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter in hopes of watching TV on my laptop. I can't find what cable to connect though. Can someone help me?

That is not how you watch television on a computer. To watch television programmes are a computer you need something call a TV tuner (it is an extra piece of hardware that is the size of a USB flash drive). There is a very good one for Macs. Its called EyeTV. It cost about $130 to $150. The video out that you're talking about is for external monitors or projectors for a presentation.

  • What Cable Do I Need?

    Hey Everyone,
I just bought a Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter so that I could hook up my laptop to a TV (mainly to play iTunes music and muted DVDs at the same time for a party I'm having, this way I won't have to buy a speaker system for just one night of use).
I thought I had the cable to connect from the adapter to my TV, but apparently I was wrong. I've looked online for the cord I need, but there are just so many options and different types. Which one do I need? And does the Apple Store sell the cable I need?
    Thanks for helping me out!

You mean kind of like Dark Side of the Rainbow?

Radio Shack should have the audio cables you need to go from the MacBook headphone jack to the AUX audio input on your equipment, from basic inexpensive cables to high-end audiophile gold-plated Monster cables for more $$$. Check what inputs you have available on the TV/VCR/Stereo system, the left-right RCA jacks are pretty common. You could also find there either an S-video or RCA/composite video cable for the video signal from the adapter you just bought to go to the AUX video in on your equipment.
