Two cameras on the same system

Hi guys, can anyone shed any light on how easy it is to watch my daughters nursery on my powerbook pro whilst sat in the next room on my G5. For some reason i cannot connect, is it because of the same account / address details?
Thanks,
Dan

  Hello Dan.... whilst sat in the next room ... same account / address details ...I do not understand this part of your question (or perhaps the title of your question.)
Rather than two cameras on one Mac, your question seems to me to be how to do two different jobs on two different Macs: surveillance on your PowerBook and a different job on your G5.
For your surveillance needs, you may be able to use a long Firewire cable from iSight to your PowerBook in another room. Doing this will allow you to use the preview window of iChat AV to "watch" your nursery without even being "logged in."
Alternatively, you could use some kind of software on your PowerBook like that linked in the "iSight as a surveillance or Nanny cam" section of Some Applications You Can Use With iSight. That would allow doing the surveillance job with your PB while running other software to do other things with your G5.
If you want to send iChat AV pictures from your PowerBook to your G5, you will either need separate Buddy or Jabber accounts for each computer or a Bonjour (Rendezvous if you use OS X 10.3.9) connection on your local network (if your Macs share a router connection.)
If you are new to iSight, you might get some help from Using iSight.
If you have other questions after reviewing the above, post back as specifically as you can about your Macs, OSs, and your question, and we will be happy to try to provide more specific suggestions.

  • Two cameras at the same time Lab view (NI MAX)

    I have two similar Point Grey Firefly MV cameras. I need to use them simultaneously in LabVIEW, but NI MAX only detects one at the same time (the two cameras are detected properly separately). I think that NI MAX identifies both camera as the same camera, but I dont know how to change the name of one of those cameras, or maybe change the serial number. Also NI MAX gives the same serial number to both of them. I would apreciate your help
    Thank you.

    Hi Aurelio,
    This is a commom issue for USB Cameras. Once IMAQdx calls the camera driver to acquire image, if the camera driver cannot acquire from 2 cameras, IMAQdx cannot acquire from 2 cameras too.
    You can ask to camera vendor about how the camera driver works.

  • One Listener : two Databases in the same system : is it possible ?

    Hi,
    I am trying to setup a single listener to listen to two Databases running in the same system. We are experimenting a Network Architecture & this is a part of our experiment to see what happens..( most of the documentation I have read point out that running two DBs on a sing le system isn't a good idea..).
    One of the Databases is an Oracle Application Server Infrastructure Metadata Respository ( OraInfra ). The other database has been configured for use with Oracle Content Database ( OraContentDB ) .
    The two databases are up & running successfully - however, the problem is with the listener. The two listener.ora files are as follows :-
    # listener.ora Network Configuration File: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\OraContentDB\network\admin\listener.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =
        (SID_DESC =
          (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
          (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\OraContentDB)
          (PROGRAM = extproc)
    LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
        (DESCRIPTION =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 152.69.191.100)(PORT = 1522))
      )and
    # listener.ora Network Configuration File: C:\OraInfra\network\admin\listener.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =

    Hi,
    Thanks to everyone for your time ! Yes, I now have an understanding of the architecture & I am trying to set up my listener...

  • I have two cameras of the same model and want to separate out the photos taken on each one. Is this possible?

    I have a Canon and my husband has a Canon, and they are the same model (mistake!)
    I imported his photos into my library (I'm the keeper of the photos), and now I want to seperate out his photos from mine.
    To make matters worse, the dates are the same (since we travel together) and the file numbers overlap (because the world is out to get us).
    They are thoroughly intermingled, but I'm hoping there is a super geeky way to seperate them.
    Ideas?

    Try to separate the photos by "import session".
    Assuming you can recognize some of the photos you took - perhaps there are some photos showing your husband and some photos showing you - these photos will tell you the import session. All photos you import into the library will be assigned an import session metadata tag, so his photos should have all the same import session tag.
    To show this thag, set the Info panel in the Inspector to "Edit" and add it to your current Metadata view.
    Once you found the Import Session for your husband's photos, create a smart album based on this meta data tag.
    When I import my husband's photos in my library, I use a metadata preset on import, that will assign automatically a keyword, set his copyright, and adds a color code. So I can see at a glance, which photos are my photos and which are his.

  • Cannot use two iSight cameras at the same time

    I use an external display on my laptop. Close the lid and work on the external display. I connect an external iSight, and a message says that the camera is already in use?!
    Can I not use two iSights at the same time?

    Hello Webmaster
    You can have two iSights connected at one time, but, as explained in Apple's iSight "Your camera is in use by another application" message, iSight can be used by one application at a time. (my emphasis) Check for any running applications, Login Items, or widgets that can use your iSight. (It is easy to forget widgets like Mirror in your Dashboard.)
    Different apps select between multiple connected cameras in different ways. For instance, you use iChat > Preferences... > Video settings to select which camera to use, but iMovie 6 uses a drop-down menu as shown in this picture:
    The suggestions in How to Troubleshoot iSight should help you determine whether one of your iSights is causing trouble. I suggest you test each one separately and without your external display or other peripherals to rule out possible conflicts like the one that user BombCreative reports in his post at http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5868843#5868843
    After you are certain that your iSights are working individually, test them when both are connected. After your system successfully passes these tests, you can add your external devices back one-by-one to be sure one of them is not causing the problem.

  • Two Tracks for the same Runtime System?

    Hello,
    can you please tell me if it is allowed to connect two tracks to the same runtime systems?
    We have already a track connected to our systems. Now we have created a new track to deliver different content to those systems. We wanted to connect the new track to the same runtime systems. Our basis team told me that a where-used message came up that told them "The following runtime systems are already used elsewhere in the CMS domain".
    Can you tell us if we will get problems because of this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Br,
      Michael

    Hello again,
    ok now, thats something completely different CRM modification is always special.
    To be honest i cannot tell for sure what will happen. As far as i know the default deploy strategy of NWDI is "deploy any version" which means NWDI will order SDM to just deploy not regarding any SDM Version (you are on a 7.0x System right?)
    So it should be possible if everything else, excelt those 2 DCs is the same things should work. But if not the last deplyoed version of the shared DCS will be active. Which might lead to problems then.
    As far as you described, the setup is as the CRM modification guides mentioned.
    My first thought is that you are not forced to use CUSTCRMPRJ as SC name for the projects as far as I know. OS maybe the leanest thing would be to just use CUSTCRMPRJ_light (.o)) for the second track.
    Hmmm not sure if this is a good idea or thought to the end. I don't have the CRM modifications guide at hand at the moment. But I guess there was a part where something was mentioned similar to this.
    After all I have to say:Sorry. I can't give you solid, reliable tip/advice for this case. Maybe my thought will help you.
    Or maybe someone else knows better.
    Have a good time

  • I would like to import two different cf cards from two different cameras into the same project/folder and have them be in order of the times they were taken, is there a trick?

    I would like to import two different cf cards from two different cameras into the same project/folder and have them be in the order of the times they were taken, any ideas on how to do this?

    Just import them normally and sort the project by date. They will fall into place. If you tried this and it isn;t happening then make sure the data and times on the two cameras are identical and make sure you are sorting by date and time and nothing else.

  • Risks of two development groups in the same system

    Hi,
    I need your help.
    I'm looking for a document about the risks having two development groups in the same system.
    The point is: An external party will come soon and start the implementation of a mini H2R in the same system as we (the internal team) are working for SD, MM, CO,... As the developments are cross-client, I'm asked to write a document explaining the risks in such cases like:
    conflicts: working on the same objects
    authorisations: each group should be assigned to different packages
    planning: the go-live should be at the same time
    transports: there can be conflicts on a transport-level
    If you have any documentation that can help me, please let me know.
    Kind regards, Gilles.

    I hope this is not considered a link farm:

  • Command line - two devices with the same name

    I have two identical logitech usb webcams on the same system,
    and I'm trying to use the command line to encode from each. The
    problem is that the xml profile requires the device name, but both
    devices are listed using the exact same name, so the command line
    only ever chooses one of the cameras as the source. Using the GUI,
    I can select one or the other because they both appear in the drop
    down list.
    Is there a way to specify the device index ala ActionScript,
    or another way to specify the device? I tried renaming the camera
    in the WinXP control panel, but that change was not seen by FME.
    Thanks!

    I'm having the same problem - I tried attaching my Canopus
    ADVC 1000 adapters to different Firewire chains (motherboard and
    PCI-based) but that didn't help.

  • I have photos from several cameras of the same event, how do I combine them?

    I have photos from several cameras of the same events.  How can I sort them together, three pics of the same horse from three cameras side by side; I can't move pics from one camera source to another in a folder.

    Languare is critical since it is all we have to communicate with
    Folders in iPhoto do not hold photos - folders hold only other folders or albums
    If you are speaking of events then you simply merge the events (drag one onto another or select two or more and use the merge events command - for the photos to be "side by side" the three camera's time/date setting will have to be identical as photos will be sorted by time/date - if they are not you can correct by selecting the photos in an event (before merging) and using the adjust time and date command or you can make a smart album for the camera and select the photos and use the adjust time and date command

    Have you ever considered investigating this sort of thing? Create a new

    No, I haven't and most probably I will not, at least in the foreseeable future. I have enough problems with my own account, and I waste too much time as it is on re-logging in, and on waiting for pages to load and messages to be posted, to indulge in such an investigation. Even if the logic behind two accounts that on screen seem to be associated with exactly the same screen name turns out to be exceedingly simple.

  • How to share iphoto with two users in the same imac maverick

    I can´t find the way to share iphoto/itunes with two users in the same imac with maverick software

    In conclusion, the new software is worse than the old one, really?  Because in my old mac I could share easily without copy with an external USB
    It's not iPhoto that dropped the ball but the system.  I believe it was Mavericks that broke the Shared folder compatibility for iPhoto, not iPhoto itself.
    Also having the library on an external HD is a good way of freeing up space on the boot drive to assure optional system and application performance.

  • Two users opened the same file at the same time with file on Win2K Server

    I just had a problem with a file that could not be saved. After a little investigation I discovered that two users had the same file open at the same time. This is with both users using InDesign CS2 and saving to a Windows 2000 Server. Any ideas how this even happened? The only thing I can think of is if they both opened the file at the exact same time but even that I doubt. I guess the more likely possibility is that the user on 10.5 (which we have had a lot of problems with, it's hard to tell how many of them are CS3 problems (yes CS3) and how many are Windows 2003 Server problems) had InDesign CS2 flake out and not tell her the file was open. Has anybody else seen this? The other user was using 10.4. Both computers have the most recent updates for the OS and for their various adobe products.

    I have videos on mov file and my quick time player does not play them.
    The MOV file container is the generic QT file container. Any audio and video data compatible with the computer system used to create the file can be placed in the MOV file container. Unfortunate, other systems cannot play the file unless they too are configured with the same components as those used to create the file. The normal procedure here is to use the Finder "Info" or alternative media play "Inspector" window to determine what codecs were used to create the original file and, if they are available for your Mac, install them on your system for playback use. Also be advised that some "legacy" codecs may require playback in the QT 7 Player for proper QT support.
    I opened with other players, there is no sound. Then I opened the same file on my windows 7, it plays perfectly with the sound and everything? What is the problem?
    This would indicate these players either access your QT codec component configuration which does not include the required codec or the app has its own built-in codec support which does not include the required audio codec but you Windows 7 media player is configured with the required codec support. This may incidate the use of a really old codecs that may or may not be available/supported on a Mac any longer.

  • Two Threads Sharing the Same Object

    I am learning Java multithreading recently and I really hit the wall when I came to synchronizing data using the synchronized keyword. According to the explanation, synchronized will only work when 2 or more threads are accessing the same object. If there are accessing 2 different objects, they can run the synchronized method in parallel.
    My question now is how to make sure for synchronized method to work, I am actually working with the same and only one object??
    Imagine this:
    Two person with the same account number are trying to access the very ONE account at the same time.
    I suppose the logic will be:
    Two different socket objects will be created. When it comes to the login or authentication class or method, how can I make sure in term of object that the login/authentication class or method will return them only ONE object (because they share the same account), so that they will be qualified for using the synchronized method further down the road?
    Thanks in advance!

    Actually your understanding is wrong. Consider:
    public class MyClass {
      private int someInt;
      private float someFloat;
      private synchronized void someMethod(final int value) {
        if (value > 2000) someInt = 2000;
      private synchronized void someOtherMethod(final float value) {
        if (value > 2.0) someFloat = 1.999f;
    }YOu might think that two different threads can enter this code, one can enter in someOtherMethod() while one is in someMethod(). That is wrong. The fact is that synchronization works by obtaining synchronization locks on a target object. In this case by putting it on the method declaration you are asking for the lock on the 'this' object. This means that only one of these methods may enter at a time. This code would be better written like so ...
    public class MyClass {
      private int someInt;
      private float someFloat;
      private void someMethod(final int value) {
        synchronized(someInt) {
          if (value > 2000) someInt = 2000;
      private void someOtherMethod(final float value) {
        synchronized(someFloat) {
          if (value > 2.0) someFloat = 1.999f;
    }In this manner you are only locking on the pertinent objects to the method and not on 'this'. This means that both methods can be entered simultaneously by two different threads. However watch out for one little problem.
    public class MyClass {
      private int someInt;
      private float someFloat;
      private void someMethod(final int value) {
        synchronized(someInt) {
          if (value > 2000) {
            someInt = 2000;
            synchronized (someFloat) {
              someFloat = 0.0f;
      private void someOtherMethod(final float value) {
        synchronized(someFloat) {
          if (value > 2.0) {
            someFloat = 1.99999f;
            synchronized (someInt) {
              someInt = 0;
    }In this case you can have a deadlock. If two threads enter one of these methods at the same time one would be waiting on the lock for someInt and the other on the lock for someFloat. Neither would proceed. The solution to the problem is simple. Acquire all locks in alphabetical order before you use the first.
    public class MyClass {
      private int someInt;
      private float someFloat;
      private void someMethod(final int value) {
        synchronized (someFloat) {
          synchronized(someInt) {
            if (value > 2000) {
              someInt = 2000;
              someFloat = 0.0f;
      private void someOtherMethod(final float value) {
        synchronized(someFloat) {
          if (value > 2.0) {
            someFloat = 1.99999f;
            synchronized (someInt) {
              someInt = 0;
    }In this manner one thread will block waiting on someFloat and there can be no deadlock.
