My wife and I each have our own Iphones and sync to two different computers. I have some apps on mine that she wants aand the question is if I sync my phone to her computer will it copy my apps and then transfer them to hers when she syncs?

Are you and your wife using the same iTunes account on each computer, or are you and your wife using a different iTunes account on each computer?
3rd party apps include DRM protection, which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the app.
If you and your wife are using the same iTunes account on each computer, your wife can download the app or apps with iTunes on her computer and she won't charged again for a purchased app as long as she uses the same iTunes account to download the app that you used to purchase the app originally.
If you and your wife are not using the same iTunes account on each computer - you each have your own iTunes account, the answer is no, which would be considered stealing.

Yes, I was aware of this but the phrase "Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library." is what worries me. Will this eliminate my Notes, Calendar Events, etc or will it apply mostly just to the music?

IPad 2/iPhone 4S syncing to same computer issues

I have a few questions:
I was having issues with syncing my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S to the same computer...I ended up getting the same apps synced on both, but not music? and I can move around/edit apps on the iPhone through iTunes, but the iPad is shaded and won't let me do it unless I sync to the computer, but wouldn't that delete my iPad specific apps? (Namely worried about Angry Birds HD and whether or not it would save my progress other than in GameCenter). I suppose it's because I synced the iPhone to the computer first, but I don't want to erase everything on my iPad and replace it with what's on the iPhone, which seems impossible. I saw a tutorial about saving two different iTunes libraries to your computer, but it sounded a little complicated and I'm just worried about losing apps/music from my iPad...
I know iPhone apps can be used on iPad, but is there any possible way to get iPad apps onto the iPhone?
Also, would iTunes Match/iCloud be worth the $24.99?

Did this ever get solved? I have the same issue with my iPhone 5 and iPad 3. It's a choppy connection over wifi. If I do a speedtest, iPhone gets a smooth connection with 26 Mbps download speed, but my iPad will hardly go above 3 Mbps and it cuts in and out the entire time it's testing

Why won't my iPhone 5S sync with my computer?

I have the grey-dotted circle issue that has been addressed in other discussions before (even though I did not get a straight answer from there). Whenever the iPhone 5S (which is running iOS 8) is plugged in, it says that X amount of songs are greyed out in the 'On my phone' page. Not quite sure how to fix that.
However, whenever I try to 'apply' changes, and sync to the computer rather than iCloud (which by the way is ridiculously slow as well---icloud sync), it will go to 'step 4' or 'step 6' where it's applying changes, or finishing up, and just stays there. It freezes.
This all happened when we tried to sync a new playlist to the device. It said in the play list that there were 250+ songs, whereas only 56 transferred to the phone....(this is where the grey dotted circles in the 'on my phone' screen comes in) Some of the music in our library is older and has been transferred from computer to computer over the years. I've tried de-authorizing the computer then reauthorizing since it said we couldn't authorize more than 5 devices to the same library but that was to no-avail.
We have upgraded our iMac to Mavericks, iPhone to iOS8 and iTunes to 11.4. We rebooted everything yet we are still having issues.
Some help would be appreciated. This device will be used as a music source for a marathon within the next week and we'd like to get the device up and running for the runner who will be in the marathon.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

My iTunes is suddenly saying both my iPod & iPhone are synced with another computer, which they have not been.

I recently lost all of the music from my laptop's hard drive, and therefore from i-Tunes. I still have all of my music on my iPhone (3GS) (and a smaller version on my iPod Touch (3)), however when I try to sync them iTunes says the devices are synced with another computer & the only options I have is to erase the iPhone/iPod & sync with the very little music that has been able to be recovered back into iTunes, or to transfer the purchases. I have checked the computer is authorised for my iTunes account, and have transferred the purchases back. I really don't want to have to reload my CDs on when they are all on other devices.
Does anyone know why iTunes is suddenly not recognising devices it did previously, and how I get it to recognise them again? And most importantly, how I can transfer the music on my iPhone/iPod back into the laptop's iTunes?

The music was accidentally deleted as I was cleaning up my SafeSync account (like a Cloud) & I unwittingly deleted My Documents & My Music from my hard drive as I did so - these are the only files that were affected. So no catastrophic issue apart from me not knowing what I'm doing.
And IT guy performed a recovery for me but was only able to retrieve about 10% of my documents and only 45 songs of the 1700 or so I had. There is no up to date back up of my computer - trust me I've learnt a lesson there.
Since then iTunes doesn't recognise my devices as being synced to that computer, but there is no other computer for them to be synced to so I don't understand how this happened or how to fix it. I understand that my devices aren't back ups, but it seems stupid to lose the 1700 songs I have on my iPhone. I have transferred the purchases, but the majority of them are songs I've loaded from CDs & obviously it would be a very time consuming process to try to reload all of them - obviously something I would like to avoid if possible.

Then anything you had on the phone is gone.
Settings>General>Resets>Erase All Content and Settings.
Set it up as a new device again.

However, if you are trying to use the iphone on your win 2000 computer, it will not work. The windows operating systems the support the iphone are xp and vista.

Let me try again. While trying to sync my new iPhone with iTunes to my computer, I got this message:
"iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected."
So I wondered if my computer was trying to back up my old iPhone. I checked the Serial number (the phone id number if referred to earlier) and yes it was. So I added the new phone...and got the same error message. Rats.

Iphone wont sync apps from computer

My iphone wont sync my apps (94) from computer to my updated Iphone 4.2
I restored the phone from back up and retried but they wont carry over, on my computer it says the apps are "on the phone" but on the phone screen it only displays the app i had to reinstall from the app store.

Music bought on iPhone not syncing back to computer

I recently had to change my hard drive in my MacBook because the computer was no longer responding that it was there. I reloaded my iPhone onto iTunes but for some reason cannot get my music to go back. I was told to make a backup of the phone and then sync it by the people from Apple. I have even tried to transfer the music from the "Store" option on top. The prompt says that my computer is not authorized, but after authorizing it, it still will not work. Any advice? I want to put more music on the phone but am afraid to lose what it on my phone. Help? Thanks!

not sure if this is a permanent fix but, ever since upgrading to itunes 11.3.1, my iphone5 seems to finish syncing on its own, now. didn't seem to be a problem anymore. at least after doing only one sync, since the upgrade.
(stiil have a blank "purchased" page at itunes store, though).

HT4623 how do i get an iphone to sync to my computer? It does not read when i connect it and it does make a connection sound but my ipod touch has no problem with the same charger.

Try restarting your iPhone, then the computer, then if that doesnt work, try plugging the cord into a different usb outlet. This works for my nano because my laptops outlets are cheap... Hope it helps! if all else fails, ur warrenty will cover it. no worries.

HT1420 iphone not syncing recognized on computer

My ipone 4S is not being recognized and is not syncing (by itunes). I just authoried the computer. The prompts in the settings for Syncing is greyed out. Not sure what else to do. This is a new PC laptop computer. The itunes and store is working fine and I just downloaded all my songs from itunes. Any ideas, thanks.

IPhone contact syncing from another computer.

My Friend has an old 3Gs and wants to transfer all his contacts from his old 3Gs to his new iPhone 4s. Only catch is he doens't have a cpmpoture and was wondering if it is possible to do it using my MacBook despite the fact that his old phone was synced to his ex-girlfriends computer and has never been synced to mine.

Then it must be a 3G rather than a 3GS. Probably the only option then is to transfer them to a gmail exchange account on the old phone, as explained here: http://transfer-iphone-contacts.blogspot.com/p/transfer-iphone-contacts-via-gmai l.html. Then set up the same exchange account on the new phone and turn contact syncing to On. Then be sure not to sync contacts with iCloud on the new phone. (Trying to sync data with both iCloud and gmail exchange can create problems.)

Stop iphone from syncing on home computer (at least music)?

I currently have a macbook pro at work that I sync my iPhone with. It has my calendars, music, and apps. Occasionally at home I need to connect to my imac to charge or download photos. The problem is, that is syncs everything and I don't have any music on my home computer, so when it syncs it clears all the music off the phone. is there anyway to prevent this. I know I can set it to sync manually in itunes, but I want it to be automatic at work. And from past experience the setting is saved on the phone not the computer, so what you set it to will be pref for both machines. Any help?

ITunes includes a global setting for this - do not automatically sync any iPod or iPhone when connected.
If you are running iTunes 8, iTunes > Preferences > Devices.

Need iPhone to sync with new computer...

My old iBook G4 has passed away and I need to sync up my iPhone with another older G4 iBook. I've attached the iPhone, however since the phone is "married" to another computer my option is to wipe the iPhone and start over. I'm wondering...is there a way around having to erase my current data on the iPhone and set up the iBook to, from this point on be the computer with which the phone is synced with? I was unable to obtain any information from the deceased iBook....i.e. any prefs, account info etc...
Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

An iPhone is only "married" to a single computer in regards to iTunes content and photos transferred to your iPhone. An iPhone can be synced with a single iTunes library only.
If you don't have a backup of your iTunes library and photos transferred to your iPhone from your previous computer, you have a problem.
iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes Store only.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If the Address Book is empty on this Mac, before syncing contact info enter one contact in the Address Book. Make one up if needed which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt when syncing contact info which you want to select. The same applies to iCal and syncing calendar events before syncing calendar events.
