Two problems with displaying images in JPanel
Hi,
I need to display some small rectangular images inside a JPanel. These images also need to be componenents as they will have listeners associated with them. I have never had any experience with images, so I might totally be down the wrong path. I was thinking of just creating a class which extends JComponent, and using the graphics drawImage method. However, I don't want each image component to have to know exactly where to draw the image associated with itself. Rather, I want the JPanel which holds all of the images to know how to lay them out.
Is there an easier way to use images?
Which brings me to my second problem. I want these images to overlap each other, so that only a small portion of each is showing (this way I can fit more on the screen), then when the user clicks on one, I can show more of it.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any layout managers which will allow me to overlap components. I could use the drawImage method mentioned above, but like I said, I would like to try to not have each image object try and figure out its location.
any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi
there is a better way ; it is called a JLabel ;-)
JLabel myJLabel = new JLabel(new ImageIcon("img/myLogo.gif"));for your second problem, don't use any layout manager like in this code :
myJPanel.setLayout(null);
myJPanel.add(myJLabel);
myJLabel.setBounds(new Rectangle(x, y, width, height);hope it helps

Hello!
Sorry, I'm a beginner in APEX and have some problems with displaying images in my application. I have read the same topic but unfortunately didnt find the solution.
So.. I have the interactive report
table test (
NAME NOT NULL VARCHAR2(4000)
ID NUMBER
BLOB_CONTENT BLOB
MIME_TYPE VARCHAR2(4000))
I need to display the column blob_content.
Thnks a lot.1009316 wrote:
Hello! Welcome to the forum: please read the FAQ and forum sticky threads (if you haven't done so already), and update your forum profile with a real handle instead of "1009316".
When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
<li>Full APEX version
<li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
<li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
<li>Theme
<li>Template(s)
<li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.

Problem with displaying images exported to PS
This is slightly different than the post about TIFF files not displaying properly.
In Aperture 1.2, when I exported an image to PS and did extensive work on it, and then saved back to Aperture, it would appear in Aperture just as it looked in PS when I saved it.
However, in 1.5, that does not happen. After I save the image, and then go back to Aperture, all of the changes I made in PS don't appear! However, if I again open the image in PS a second time, it will change to the PS version even before the image gets to PS (I can see it change right when I click "open with external editor").
Is this a difference with how 1.2 and 1.5 handle the files? I'm guessing it has something to do with image previews, because I chose not to have Aperture generate previews when I installed 1.5 due to the slow-down issues I saw reported here.
I'm starting to wonder what the point of upgrading to 1.5 was for me... if I can't take advantage of previews (accessing my Aperture library from other apps like Keynote, etc) and if the PS files I work on don't display properly, I'd rather go back to 1.2. This is a major problem in my workflow, since I often spend a lot of time working on images in PS, and I need to be able to see them that way when I return to Aperture.
I'm hoping there's some setting somewhere I can use to fix this. Is there?David,
I really appreciate your offer to help. However, I have the problem with all images in my library in all projects, so I'm not sure how useful it would be for you to work with a single image I upload to a server.
I'm having the same problem on my MacBook too, though for some unknown reason there are certain projects on my MacBook that the process works fine with. I cannot tell any difference between those projects (that work) and those that don't.
What's even more strange... if I quit Aperture, and re-open it, and then go through the process (open a file in PS2, save, return to Aperture) - it works fine! But ONLY ONE TIME. If I try the same process again, on that same image, or any other image in my library, it will not work. It only works the FIRST TIME I do it after opening Aperture. I tested this several times and got the same result.
I am completely stumped here. I've tried generating previews for a project and turning all of the preview options on, but that doesn't solve the problem either.
Anyone out there have a clue what might be happening? This is more than a minor inconvenience... if my image management system can't display the image as it should appear, it's unusable.

Problem with displaying images belonging to one keyword
Hi,
There seems to be a minor bug in Lightroom (since version 3): If I have no filter enabled and click on the little arrow next to a keyword, I get a result that is unrelated to the keyword. If I click it again, it works. So it seems that the feature was only tested with the metadata filter already switched on.
Thanks for fixing this.
StefanOK, here is a reproducable sequence (at least for me):
Select a keyword by pressing the arrow right to it (example Lightroom2)
Then I clicked on Metadata and disabled the selection. I got to "Alle Fotos":
Next I selected a folder and in the folder a picture:
And now I clicked on the arrow next to the keyword lightroom. What I would expect is that the metadata information oopens and that the keyword lightroom is selected and the corresponding pictures are shown, but this does not happen. The previously selected keyword (Lightroom2) is shown in the Filter window and "Metadaten" is not highlighted and lightroom shows me all photos (compare the number of pictures that is displayed):
I hope that this is reproducable.
Thanks

Problem with displaying images
Hi.
I have defined my site and half way through building decided
to redo some images. I saved them into my /images/ folder, and went
to change the images in my webpage in progress via browsing for
them, only to find that they now appear 'broken', not appearing in
the WYSIWYG form.
They only display as images if the link is changed from
relative {../images/...) to img src="file:///......".
Is there a way to stop this from happening? I am using
Dreamweaver 8, and just installed the patches, so I'm confident
it's the most up-to-date it can be.> They only display as images if the link is changed from
relative
> {../images/...) to img src="file:///......".
This indicates that DW believes your images are not within
the root folder
of the site, perhaps caused by an improperly defined site.
Please do the following:
1. While in this site, create a new, blank HTML page, and
insert one of
these images on it by dragging and dropping it on the page.
2. BEFORE SAVING THE PAGE, copy the code and paste it into a
reply here.
3. Now, save this page, and again copy the code and paste it
into a reply
here.

Problem with displaying BLOB images on JSP page using a servlet
hi. I have a big problem with displaying BLOB images using JSP. I have a servlet that connects to the oracle database, gets a BLOB image , reads it, and then displays it using a BinaryStream. The problem is , this works only when i directly call that servlet, that is http://localhost:8080/ImageServlet. It doesn't work when i try to use that servlet to display my image on my JSP page (my JSP page displays only a broken-image icon ) I tried several coding approaches with my servlet (used both Blob and BLOB objects), and they work just fine as long as i display images explicitly using only the servlet.
Here's what i use : ORACLE 10g XE , Eclipse 3.1.2, Tomcat 5.5.16 , JDK 1.5
here is one of my image servlet's working versions (the essential part of it) :
BLOB blob=null;
rset=st.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM IMAGES WHERE ID=1");
while (rset.next())
blob=((OracleResultSet)rset).getBLOB(2);
response.reset();
response.setContentType("image/jpeg");
response.addHeader("Content-Disposition","filename=42.jpeg");
ServletOutputStream ostr=response.getOutputStream();
InputStream istr=blob.getBinaryStream(1L);
int size=blob.getBufferSize();
int len=-1;
byte[] buff = new byte[size];
while ((len=istr.read( buff ))!=-1 ) {
ostr.write(buff,0,len);
response.flushBuffer();
ostr.close(); and my JSP page code :
<img src="/ImageServlet" border="0" > If you could just tell me what i'm doing wrong here , or if you could show me your own solutions to that problem , i would be very greatful ,cos i'm realy stuck here , and i'm rather pressed for time too. Hope someone can help.I turns out that it wasn't that big of a problem after all. All i had to do was to take the above code and place it into another JSP page instead of into a servlet like i did before. Then i just used that page as a source for my IMG tag in my first JSP. It works perfectly well. Why this doesn't work for servlets i still don't know, but it's not a problem form me anymore . Ofcourse if someone knows the answer , go ahead and write. I would still appriceatte it.
here's the magic tag : <img src="ImageJSP.jsp" border="0" > enjoy : ) -
Having a problem with gif image not showing up. It will show up in netscape6.2, but not in IE 5.0. Both are using the java 1.4 plugin. They are basic buttons (zoom in, zoom out, etc) and they actions work, just the icons aren't showing. Any help would be great! Below is a snip of code:
JPanel toolBarsPanel = new JPanel();
javax.swing.JToolBar toolbar = new javax.swing.JToolBar();
JButton zoomin = new JButton(new ImageIcon("tut/zoomin.gif"));
JButton fullext = new JButton(new ImageIcon("tut/fullextent.gif"));
JButton identify = new JButton(new ImageIcon("tut/identify.gif"));
JButton btn = new JButton(new ImageIcon("tut/addtheme.gif"));
toolbar.add(zoomin);
toolbar.add(fullext);
toolbar.add(identify);
toolbar.add(btn);
add(toolbar, BorderLayout.NORTH);
Thanks again for any help!I used to do a lot of work in this sort of thing. After a while we were able to convince our bosses to use generated HTML (JSPs, etc.), so the problem moved to porting JavaScript to different platforms! (Platforms in this context means the different browser/OS combinations, etc.).
The only two things I can recommend are:
- complete control over you code. You will have to fix it! (Tried you apps on a Mac yet?)
- assume a minimal install. Don't assume users are going to have any fancy tools installed on their PC, unless you are developing an Intranet app, where you know the spec of the machines that are going to be using it.
As regarding getting IE to use a relative address, I don't think you are going to have any luck their, I'm afraid! (Although I am curious. It has been some time, but I though it did use relative addresses. Are you absolutely sure about this, did you check this out with System.outs and that?

Issue with displaying images from bestseller.inc.jsp
Hello all,
I'm new in developing with NWDI and I'm having this small problem:
in bestseller.inc.jsp (which includes productlist.jsp) there are two links with a product's code and a products description, which when clicked, navigate to productDetailsISA.jsp with the details of the product. While the images of all the products from other jsp's (for example from ProductsISA.jsp) display correctly in the ProductDetailsISA.jsp, there is a problem with the images of the products from bestseller and recommendations jsp's (they both include productlist jsp).
The code for creating the links *in productlist.jsp is the following:
<li> <a href="<isa:webappsURL name="b2b/productdetail.do"/><%=ShowProductDetailAction.createDetailRequest(product,displayScenario) %>">
<%=JspUtil.encodeHtml(product.getDescription()) %>
</a> </li>
and the code for displaying products's images in ProductDetailsISA.jsp is this:
<td width="7%" rowspan="2" headers="Product image">
<img src="<isa:imageAttribute guids="DOC_PC_CRM_IMAGE,DOC_P_CRM_IMAGE" name="webCatItem" defaultImg="mimes/shared/no_pic.gif"/>" width="250" height="250"/>
</td>
I have no idea how isa:imageAttribute tag works, so I was wandering if this problem is somehow connection with the inner workings of this tag.
Could someone help please?

Problem with displaying any picture at all.
Hi there, one of my iMacs has a problem with displaying video.
When I turn the computer on the screen shows a yellow-orange hue in the centre, and it's getting wider across the screen and bright, eventually it turns to a white screen. Now I know for a fact it's nothing to do with the logic board! I can control the computer with remote desktop and dim the screen or make it brighter. My question is, is it the cabling that is faulty or something else?
If it's the cabling, how can I open the chrome neck and change it?
Thanks youDid your testing include utilizing a second display and adapter to see
how a mirrored output of the video would appear; to be sure this item
is isolated to the wiring from the circuit boards to the attached LCD?
There are components within the border of the iMac G4's display which
may affect the image as they wear out and/or fail. The inverter, is one
item that is in the panel along with the backlight and liquid crystal layer.
Removing or replacing the wire harness between these components,
the computer base and LCD panel, is a bit of work. This topic has been
addressed in these forums at one time or another; and a few owners
who contribute here have experience taking these apart. In the past,
getting a known-good display with chrome arm and harness, from an-
other iMac (perhaps one with logic board failure) and combine two,
was an answer when the complete display & arm were known good;
as this saved a fair amount of work on the upper end. Still, taking the
lower orb shape apart is a significant task; to have it work right again.
The cabling could be faulty; the inverter could be. And there may be
yet another associated component failing which produces symptoms.
Taking apart the chrome arm may not be such a good idea; I've seen
the expanded view of one taken apart by a metal cutting saw, and it
has a big spring inside, and a bit of tension. There also are friction pad
parts inside that loose their ability to hold up the panel, so some owners
sought to replace those to varying degrees of trouble.
There should be a few step-by-step instructions. One of the contributors
to the iMac G4 forums here was Mr Totes; one of his web pages had a
few images of take-aparts he'd done. Other sites had basic stuff, such
as replacing optical drive and hard disk drives, thermal paste, RAM, etc.
If you were able to see the correct system images from a second display
via the VGA adapter cable, in mirror mode, the attached unit certainly is
suspect; and the computer is probably repairable. Otherwise, there is a
video component on the logic board not considered a separate part; and
if that fails, the usual fix is to get a reman logic board or another iMac.
Have fun, whichever way it goes.
Good luck & happy computing! -
Need to display image on JPanel
Hello
I am trying to implement a graphical version of the Knights Tour. I am done with the algorithm part of the problem itself. I am having problem with displaying the chess board. I have problems with uploading images to my internet printing company when the images have been manipulated through CS6 and i have saved images as jpeg the printer company tell me they are not j peg,
but images saved from my phone or camera images that have not been manipulated upload fine, What am i doing wrong?Save/Export them as JPG. Photoshop defaults to PSD, so make sure you select JPG and not just rename the file to .jpg.
There are two ways to save them as JPG: Regular Save as option or Save for Web & Devices
Take your pick. -
Two Problems with iPod Nano!
Hi Community!
As I have already written in the topic, I've got two problems with my new iPod Nano:
1) I charged the iPod over USB 2 and my dockingstation already about five hours, but the red sign and the message that I don't have to disconnect my iPod is still there (battery status shows full)
2) With the docked iPod my computer doesn't boot anymore. When I disconnect the iPod it works :-/
THX for helping me!
dynAdZThank you for helping me with my problems, but I still don't know why my iPod gives me this message, altough it is fully charged. And the flashing warning symbol drives me nuts
Mhh I didn't find an image for that symbol... It's a red circle which is crossed. The manual says that there should now be a green symbol, or just the menu...?? -
Two problems with custom kernel
I get two problems with my custom kernel that is not using initrd and otherwise working fine:
1) initscripts does not print anything, i.e., I see the kernel messages and after a short while the login prompt. It seems to start the daemons, however, since my network is working. During shutdown the printout is working as usual.
2) the machine does not power off properly (just hangs/stops after saying that is now powers off).
I am missing some kernel options? Or do I have to configure something differently for not having an initrd?
Thanks, CCccom wrote:I now re-compiled with Arch Linux's default settings (except for SCSI, SATA, and filesystem drivers built in) and noinitrd in GRUB. I get the same two problems. What is initrd doing that I missed?
how about display drivers? are you compiling them in the kernel or as external modules? -
Problem with scramb image MULTI DISTORTION COLOR
PROBLEM WITH IMAGE, SOMETIMES ITS DISTORTIONATED, AND SLOW
Are you writing of problems with the image displayed on your screen? Anyway that you can post a screenshot (to make a whole screenshot, hold down the Shift, Command and 3 keys at the same time). Upload your screenshot using the camera icon in the composition bar above.
It would also help to know which model MacBook Pro you have - 15" late 2011, for example.
